The Cube is in my top 3 Nintendo consoles of all time. I was a youngish 20 something at release with a salary and no commitments.
I built quite the library and have a long list of nostalgic memories.
Covering all the years, my most memorable consoles (a few computers) .....
C64
Amiga
SNES
Megadrive
GBA
Gamecube
Switch
I've owned many more but these were the best. Also, the 80/90s arcade scene should be in that list. Shout out to Track and Field, SF2 and many lightgun games.
Lots of unknown release dates at the mo and I think a few more surprises to come.
A quick wishlist ..... Halo, Forza and Metaphor before the holidays. Thinking Doom might make an appearance. In terms of just some info, Monoliths next game and DQ12. 👍
...... If I were to go real blue sky thinking, Saturn on NSO but would prefer Dreamcast.
I need some fun in my life and Nintendo is still top in providing that fun factor. Pick up and play video games that just put a big smile on your face.
@Moistnado Granted that there is more powerful hardware out there but I haven't seen to date any reputable review that suggests the SW2 is either crappy or flimsy.
Fundamentally a role that will be immediately challenged as the first talking version of Link. Just on that basis alone, the fans will be a tough crowd to please.
Was Chris Pratt perfect for Mario? No. No actor is perfect. Did he do a good job? Yes. As good as most could do. Will the actor who plays Link divide the crowd?
A direct this week or next would be most welcome. I'm still thinking we will have another holiday release from Nintendo that we don't know about yet to go along with Metroid (Guessing a holiday release) and Pokemon.
They are going to want to push Bonanza at the very least in the next few weeks.
@WiltonRoots Got mine at Dixons on launch day! I got Rogue Squadron, Luigis Mansion and also Super Monkey Ball. Fantastic console and the games still look and play fantastic today.
@Dhaladog I'm guessing a Link to the Past in the "chibi" engine. I think they've found their stride with these to infill in-between the mainline releases.
@Otoemetry Bear in mind that the numbers don't include the MyNintendo sales. With the invite only pre order option routinely restocked, I expect many purchases via that route not included in the UK total.
@sixrings Don't agree myself however I do agree that the SNES was one of the best and I'd also put the Cube up there as well. Rogue Squadron and Luigis Mansion blew my mind at the time compared to the blocky first attempts of 3d from the PS1 and N64 days.
Deja vu for me in a very good way. I'm playing BOTW on new Nintendo Hardware and I'm enjoying it as much as 8 years ago.
I was done with BOTW probably in late 2018. Going back with the upgrade, I've forgotten a lot. It looks and runs fantastic and I'm thoroughly enjoying my second playthrough.
It feels 2017, but a futuristic 2017 if that makes sense.
..... Edit: I don't feel as bad this time using my Piggyback Guidebook for some little nuggets that are easy to miss 😆
@Rebusmind Yes. When you select upgrade from the start menu, it applies a discount code of 83% off against the full SW2 version on the eshop. Complete the purchase and you will have the full SW2 version digitally and won't need the SW1 cart. Its not a patch, it discounts the full game. When you download it, it creates a 2nd Hogwarts in your library which is the SW2 edition. My son was playing it all day yesterday without the cart. Its a massive upgrade as well. Bargain.
If you are thinking of getting Hogwarts and don't have it on SW1, if you buy the SW1 version cheap and then upgrade, you only pay £8.49 to upgrade and get the full digital SW2 version.
I bought the SW1 version second hand for £20, used the in game menu to unlock a download discount for £8.49 to download the full SW2 version and then sold the SW1 version to CEX for £13.
In summary, I got the full SW2 digital version for £15.49. Not bad!
I'll openly come on here and admit comments of the past were unnecessary on occasion. No offence to the commentor in question intended and generally only intended as a bit of jest.
Anti Matter you have my apology. We are all gamers and I don't want to see anyone picked on.
Keep being you.
Edit ..... I'm not not likely to jump on the bandwagon of PS5 but 20 ish years ago, I was a demon on Dance, Dance Revolution. I'm more dad dancing these days 😃👍
Its almost a prize amongst the "content" creators (cough), who will be the first to do a video about joycon 2 drift. I'll worry about it, if and when it happens.
The only drift issue I had was the one with the small piece of cardboard fix. That was just a positioning of parts issue. I'm hoping that one was an easy resolve on joycon 2 and won't persist.
No surprise, the OLED is better but I'd rather trade up in a couple of years than pay a high investment to start. Not the most savvy of financial approaches I know but I couldn't hold off for a few years on something that really doesn't bother me that much.
Onto the positives, I'm fine with the screen. Just needed at a small sacrifice to battery to turn off the auto brightness and it looks great to me.
If I want the pretty colours et al, I'll jump on the TV.
I think this is the most expandable Mario Kart to date and keen to see what will be added over the years.
Out of the gate, it's great already IMO and hits the spot of ...... just a fun game to play! Its all I ever want from Mario Kart and to date, i havent been disappointed.
@Debo626 not so much on this site but if you go to sites like IGN and look at users comment history, it's the same people complaining about price in one thread and specs underpowered in another. Its equally contradictory and funny at the same time.
"We want more power but don't want to pay for it" 😃
There's too many variables to be exact. Its not PS5. Its not XSX. Its probably in the ball park of PS4 Pro to the Series S but will vary game to game, developer to developer.
This is good as this gen we've seen alot of cross gen releases, even when the S has struggled with some.
SW2 is in the right area to continue with current gen multipat releases. SW1 had hit a ceiling of how much further it could go.
@themightyant Its not a problem to prefer physical and I do understand that digital has its downsides.
I've moved on personally but appreciate it's a bigger deal for some.
I like the constructive debates on here and not in reference to you but some comments are one liners of the dislike and somewhat repetitive when to most it is obvious that digital is here and it's unlikely to change.
My chain of thinking is now on preservation. Digital is here now so what does the future look like in the absence of physical media. I'm confident and positive but will be actively watching the development and discussions on this front going forward.
I appreciate for some that the Sw2 hasn't been the launch that some had hoped for. Pricing, key cards etc.
However, the early success is there and we have a whole gen of new Nintendo games to look forward to and the updated specs will no doubt keep the 3rd parties on board.

Next year me thinks as the big holiday release. Question is, Galaxy 3 or Odyssey 2??
Re: Opinion: I Never Felt True Nostalgia Until I Played GameCube On Switch 2
@Runex2121 the C64 maxi is well worth a try. Just get yourself a decent zipstick. The one it comes with is a bit meh.

@B_Lindz I'm no expert, but I always make sure it isn't above the wattage of the official charger.
Re: Japanese Charts: Switch 2 Won't Slow Down, Surpasses 1 Million Consoles Sold
@Jprhino84 genuine story. I've been replacing some light switches in the last few weeks. I had 2 more than I needed and returned them.
I don't recall posting on the Internet about it. I might have fuelled their research to lead them to such a bold statement in their comment. 😃
Another commentor (OP) who needs to stay safe out there on the Internet.
Re: Japanese Charts: Switch 2 Won't Slow Down, Surpasses 1 Million Consoles Sold
@Arawn93 Exactly. People are comparing MKW as it is today. Not what it could be in a few years.
I'm seeing a foundation for a lot of things that could be added.
Re: Third-Party Launch Games On Switch 2 Reportedly Sold "Very Low Numbers"
So I held back on a few new purchases due to upgrades of games already in my library from SW1.
Thoroughly enjoying the upgraded BOTW.
If you look at the list of paid and free updated software from SW1, 3rd parties have had a fair bit of competition at launch.
Game carts may have been a factor but I don't think substantially. I still think the average consumer doesn't care.
Re: Japanese Charts: Switch 2 Won't Slow Down, Surpasses 1 Million Consoles Sold
@BaldB3lper78 do you have a credible source and some numbers?
Re: Japanese Charts: Switch 2 Won't Slow Down, Surpasses 1 Million Consoles Sold
MKW at 15% ish MK8 lifetime sales within a week.
Whilst I think MK8 is the better game at present, MKW has the potential to equal or surpass MK8 if the added content comes.
Just on a character front, I think MKW could be this generations "Everyone is here".
Re: Donkey Kong Bananza Direct: Every Announcement - How Would You Rate It?
I need some fun in my life and Nintendo is still top in providing that fun factor. Pick up and play video games that just put a big smile on your face.
Re: More Than 2,800 Switch 2 Consoles Have Been Stolen From A Semi-Truck
@Jack_Goetz possibly but it will likely hit the unsuspecting buyer who might have purchased in good faith unaware that they were stolen
Re: Nintendo Reportedly Banning Switch 2's Using MIG Cartridges
@Moistnado Granted that there is more powerful hardware out there but I haven't seen to date any reputable review that suggests the SW2 is either crappy or flimsy.
Re: Nintendo Reportedly Banning Switch 2's Using MIG Cartridges
Where theft exists, it's built into the costs. We end up paying.
Unfortunately there is no easy way to distinguish legitimate use vs piracy therefore I support the approach.

Yes see previous comments. On the start menu you should be able to download a discount code for the eshop. 👍

Re: Hardware Review: Nintendo Switch 2 - A Faster, Slicker, Sexier Switch
@Paulo Scam? Really? Its not portraying itself to be anything it isn't.
The OG Switch was hardly a handheld form factor unless baggy pants of the 90s are back.
It would be crazy for Nintendo with the success of SW1 to do anything to different this gen after the success it had.
Its evolved in most of the areas people have asked for many years.
Price is fair IMO for what you are getting.

Re: Random: Ouch! Switch 2 Owners Are Feeling The Pinch With The New Joy-Con
Right, so I tried this at launch and whilst possible, it's the smallest of a pinch if at all. I wouldn't think it would even hurt a young child.
This is the Wii Remote in the TV brigade again who would sue for anything.
Its sad that the world we live in has to have a disclaimer on a bag of peanuts to say it may contain nuts.
The sue for anything culture are the worst when most of us put in a hard days graft to earn money instead.
If I saw anyone do it and wince in pain claiming that they will sue Nintendo, my reply would be "Oh dear, did you feel a bit of a pri@k?" 😃

Re: Capcom Is Recording Switch 2 Game-Key Card Purchases As "Digital Sales"
I'm hoping we don't have a theme of digital vs physical for the next 8 years.
Nintendo isn't the only one doing this. The whole industry is moving in this direction.
Time to stay on the train or get off at the next stop.
Digital is here and like it or not, it's not going anywhere.

Re: Sounds Like Switch 2 Is Already Breaking Sales Records In France
@Anti-Matter seriously dude, why do you go this site? It's a genuine question.
Re: Sounds Like Switch 2 Is Already Breaking Sales Records In France
@Varkster I miss the days of magazines for my gaming news. The keyboard warriors of the day couldn't be bothered to write a letter.
Chilled reads on a Saturday afternoon catching up after the chores were done. 🙂
.... I grow tired of the repeated narrative on every article by certain users. Say your piece and move on.
Re: Round Up: The Reviews Are In For The Nintendo Switch 2
For quite a while, whilst I loved my SW1, I did wish that it was more like the Steam Deck.
It's now here and it has surpassed that.
Graphics are not everything but the added performance jump is really making some SW1 games shine.
The console has a premium feel and less fragile and clicky.
Yes the battery could be better but this is about the norm for other devices. Could do better, but the console would have cost more.
Happy with the iterative but substantial new gen model that took a formula proven to be popular and just improved on it.
SW1 was at it's limit of cross gen ports and the upgrade was becoming a necessity to keep 3rd party releases coming.
it's all about the games regardless of the above. If they keep flowing at the rate that they did on SW1, we are in for a real treat this gen.
Re: Mini Review: Sonic X Shadow Generations (Switch 2) - Definitely Improved, But SEGA's Shafting Early Adopters
Didn't get this on SW1 but got it for the launch on SW2. It's a good game that runs well on SW2.
I do agree that the path to upgrade should be cheaper, if not free for the SW1 adopters.
It was good however to not see £60-£70 as the norm for SW2 games.
Re: No Man's Sky Multiplayer Is Currently Broken On Switch 2, Cross-Saves Also Causing Issues

Most updates are new content and fixes seem quickly resolved.

Just glad to see the support on SW2.
