@Anti-Matter I think the point is that it may diminish the brand in your opinion for you as an individual but that may not be the case for others or the majority.
Unfortunately not everything in life can cater to all tastes and likes but as with everything, there is no problem with what people like and don't like. That's choice and freewill.
Edit .... I think Anti Matter blocked me a while ago so these replies probably fall on deaf ears.
@Medic_alert that's exactly me. Xenoblade, Zelda etc physical because those are the games I'll look back on fondly in 20 years time. Others I might not want to go back to or won't have the strong memories associated to them.
In 20 years, I expect most of the games from today that I want to revisit will be available in some shape or form.
If I played every single game since I started in the 80s, I would have to be a millionaire as I wouldn't have time for work or anything else in life. I'd wager of all of the games, only about 10% I go back to.
SW gen I was 80/20 physical but I think with SW2 it will be the other way around and that's fine 👍😎🎮
@Medic_alert Demo discs were good. Particularly back in the C64 days of full games on a cassette. I decided many a purchase on PS1 and PS2 after playing a demo disc.
Don't get me wrong, I have the odd nostalgia related physical edition but I've been gradually moving away from physical for a few years. All of my Switch cartridges end up in a cart case so the boxes rarely get looked at.
I've been managing downloads and storage on a PC for years but when installed, it's like having a gaming jukebox at your fingertips.
@Medic_alert it's the modern age we live in with everything going digital. I'm not upset about music, film or games.
I do however miss a monthly magazine like ONM. Saturday afternoons with a beer reading the latest edition is missed. Game cases on a shelf never looked at, I don't miss.
@Anti-Matter I don't think key cards are going to materially affect anything. If it's a game people want to play, they'll buy a key card if they have to.
When I was a manager at Gamestation, for the PSP launch a few stores were lite on stock for pre orders. A number of us spent the day driving around the region grabbing excess stock at other stores to make sure we fulfilled pre orders and didn't let anyone down.
I couldn't get one for one of our loyal customers so went and reserved one at Argos for him.
We were all gamers who cared about gamers.
Head office encouraged us to look after customers.
Game killed the brand and thankfully I left before the takeover.
The last midnight launch I attended in the UK was for the 3DS. I was on a tight budget with only enough for the 3DS and 1 game ..... Gamestation did a raffle for those that attended and I won a blue 3DS!
@Suketoudara so many hours lost. People go on about how hard the Souls games are. Dizzy of that era of no saves and one mistake and you have to restart the whole game 😃
Killing time until SW2 so not starting anything new. Probably some time this weekend on NSO, SNES and Megadrive minis.
Fixed my daughter's black screen of death 2DS XL. It had been bricked for 6 months or so.
Removed the battery and reinserted and bingo. She's happy and playing Tomodachi Life and Nintendogs again.
@Michael0916 they are a huge step away from a big box, a manual, a map etc. Empty plastic shells with legalise pamphlets.
"Said publisher will not be responsible in anyway if you decide to eat the media contained within. Said publisher also does not endorse eating of such media. Said publisher hopes you will enjoy but will not be responsible for game rage and broken TVs. Please do not sue."
@Anti-Matter I think the positioning as @dew12333 mentioned is irrelevant when you total the skus. If you had a two horse race, 2nd normally is good but not when you only have two contenders.
If I ran in a race with Usain Bolt, I'd come second. Not bad. But if you looked at the times, not good.

Re: Nintendo Switch 2 Day One Update Is Out Now, Here Are The Patch Notes
@garfreek go look at the release countdown on the home page. Stability incoming my friend 😀
Re: Nintendo Switch 2 Day One Update Is Out Now, Here Are The Patch Notes
Stability !!!!!!!!!! Our first taste on SW2.
Not explicitly stated but I bet it's there.

Re: Civilization VII Looks Like A Massive Step Up On Switch 2
Genuinely think that mouse controls on consoles could become a mainstream thing. It's been done for years but no one has perfected it yet.
Nintendo is having a good go. Time will tell though as to whether an additional grip is needed or not.
Re: PSA: Switch 2 Updates For Multiple First-Party Switch Games Are Now Available
Pokemon isn't my cup of tea but IGN have just posted a video on the SW2 upgrades for Scarlet and Violet.
It's quite the boost in both graphics and performance.
Re: Mario Kart World Doesn't Include A 200cc Difficulty Mode
I'm ok with 100 and 150cc.
Only used 200cc on Baby Park in MK8 for even more chaos and a laugh. We often use it as a decider when our tournament wins are tied.
Re: Video: "It's Actually...Really Good" - Our Hot 'Nintendo Switch 2 Welcome Tour' Preview Take
@HammerGalladeBro what you have described my friend is free will.
Well said
Re: Nintendo Switch 2 Chip "Unlike Anything We've Ever Built Before" Says Nvidia CEO
@Ramouz The PS5 Pro is often compared to a 4070. If the SW2 dock was a 4080, it would probably melt.
Re: Video: Do You Even Need A Pro Controller For The Switch 2?
Wonder if we will get a Joycon2/Jamboree combo for the holidays??
Re: Video: Do You Even Need A Pro Controller For The Switch 2?
The pro controller is a fantastic controller in my opinion and one of the best batteries out there.
The pro controller 2 didn't need to reinvent the wheel. It added the SW2 functions and that's probably all it needed to do.
Re: Video: "It's Actually...Really Good" - Our Hot 'Nintendo Switch 2 Welcome Tour' Preview Take
Can you imagine what this comment section would have been like if it got a physical key card release as well. 😀
Re: Nintendo Prepping For All Switch 2 Eventualities With 'Out Of Stock' Signs
I expect that these are made from the leftover sheets of cardboard from Labo 😃
Re: Video: "It's Actually...Really Good" - Our Hot 'Nintendo Switch 2 Welcome Tour' Preview Take
About £2 more than a pint these days or the cost of a McDonald's meal.
I get the principle argument of not charging but I'm not going to lose sleep over it.
A fun novelty to download and enjoy.
Re: Video: 27 Exciting New Games Coming To Nintendo Switch 1 & 2 In June 2025
@jfp very close. I got my dispatch email today from Nintendo UK. Can't wait.
I've held off on restarting BOTW and can't wait to see it running in 4k.
Fast Fusion is looking to be the showpiece. Those devs are wizards.
Happy SW2 launch day !!!!!!
Re: Video: 27 Exciting New Games Coming To Nintendo Switch 1 & 2 In June 2025
MKW, SF6, Sonic, Fast Fusion and NSO for me for the month.
Expensive month but a very good one. 🎮 😀
Re: UK Charts: It's The Final Week Before The Switch 2 Floodgates Open
Do the charts include pack ins? I can't imagine many MKWs being bought outside the SW2 bundle certainly in the early days of SW2.
I get the physical collectors, but that's £40 more to get the console and MKW seperate.
Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? (31st May)
Clear out this weekend of old Switch stuff and the trusty OLED. A few days of being Switch less and some extra spending money for Thursday.
If I make enough, I'll probably order the GC controller and some extra games for launch.

Re: Switch 2 Accessory Maker Unveils Pro Controller Case With Built-In Charging
I don't think I have ever had the need or thought for a case for a controller. Console yes, controller no.
When I worked at Gamestation, this was the type of stuff we traded in for 10p. Tonnes of the stuff and we couldn't shift it.

@Kuarzero you'll need to flip your phone to landscape to fit the total numbers in view 😜
Re: Rumour: Iconic Studio Codemasters May Soon Close For Good
It's a shame that many greats from the Spectrum, C64 and Amiga days do not get more compilations.
I have the C64 Maxi, The Spectrum and patiently waiting for the A1200 Maxi ...... Didn't get the A500 mini as I wanted a working keyboard, system etc.
Wouldn't mind a Codemasters classics compilation on Switch though.
Re: Japanese Charts: Fantasy Life i Caps Off The Switch 1 With A Big Win
Come on SW1, give the PS5 a break. It's borderline bullying now.

Sorry for anyone let down by Game. Hope you find one elsewhere 🤞
Re: Fast Fusion Launch Trailer Gives Us Our Best Look At Switch 2 Gameplay
Come on Nintendo, just give this team the FZero series to work on.
Re: Rumour: Iconic Studio Codemasters May Soon Close For Good
@Toastmaster that's a mighty fine list of developers sadly gone.
Re: Rumour: Iconic Studio Codemasters May Soon Close For Good
Sad that one of the few key developers on the Amiga to survive, is EA.
Re: Nintendo Updates 'Switch Online' Trailer With New Switch 2 Footage
Just over a week to go. New Nintendo hardware day is the best.
Re: Retailer Smyths Is Holding A Switch 2 Midnight Launch Across All UK Stores
@Olliemar28 Still impressed with the 3D effect to this day.
Re: Retailer Smyths Is Holding A Switch 2 Midnight Launch Across All UK Stores
The last midnight launch I attended in the UK was for the 3DS. I was on a tight budget with only enough for the 3DS and 1 game ..... Gamestation did a raffle for those that attended and I won a blue 3DS!
Went home with more games than planned 👍😃
Re: US Retailers Are Reportedly Starting To Receive Switch 2 Stock
Here in the UK we will no doubt have a SW2 display by some golf clubs, man u shirts, discount umbrellas and sports socks. Good ol' Game 😃
Re: Review: SoulCalibur II (GameCube) - One Of The Best Fighters Ever, Playable Oh-So-Soon On Switch 2
Can't wait for the GC collection to expand. Was playing some GC games yesterday on the big screen. Looking forward to GC on the go.
Wishlist ....... Double Dash, Mario Tennis and Golf, Rogue Leader 2, Viewtiful Joe, Time Splitters, Skies of Arcadia plus many more.
Owned every Nintendo home console including the Virtual Boy. GC is in my top 3 with the Switch and SNES. GBA for top handheld, hands down 👍

Re: Codemasters Says It Will Look At Switch 2 And See If It's A "Good Fit" For F1 Games
The Dirt series would be a good port.
Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? (24th May)

Fixed my daughter's black screen of death 2DS XL. It had been bricked for 6 months or so.
Removed the battery and reinserted and bingo. She's happy and playing Tomodachi Life and Nintendogs again.
Re: How Well Do You Remember Super Mario Galaxy 2?
Would welcome Galaxy 2 on SW2 without the waggle.

@OldGamer999 I'm thinking of my kids as well. They've got to sort out all of this crap when I'm gone. 😜
Re: Feature: "Game-Key Cards Don't Sit Right With Us" - Lost In Cult Dives Into Its New Physical Games Line
@OldGamer999 ditto. I've gone with the flow and just moved on. Getting older. Don't want to be surrounded by tonnes of stuff I can't take with me.
Appetite for Destruction and many others .... Vinyl copy, cassette copy, Cd copy. I was quite glad when MP3s became a thing!
Absolutely no problem with people who prefer physical I'm just less interested in "stuff" as I get older.
Re: Feature: "Game-Key Cards Don't Sit Right With Us" - Lost In Cult Dives Into Its New Physical Games Line
@HugoGED maybe but it is what is and it's here in two weeks.
Re: Feature: "Game-Key Cards Don't Sit Right With Us" - Lost In Cult Dives Into Its New Physical Games Line
@Misima I have and you are spouting nonsense I'm afraid.
You are talking about improving society and making sacrifices in a conversation about gaming.
You're acting like gaming is life or death. I love gaming but there is a lot more important things in the world.
Re: Feature: "Game-Key Cards Don't Sit Right With Us" - Lost In Cult Dives Into Its New Physical Games Line
@Misima A tad extreme don't you think. I am not going to change the industry. No one is apart from the publishers and manufacturers.
I'm not going to miss out on games I want to play. I've lived through betamax/VHS to DVD. Cassette to CD. Magazines to websites. Physical to digital.
I'm still here, still enjoying gaming.
"proud about destroying the game playing environment."
Seriously? I'm proud of who I am as a person, my family, my values and how I treat others. Gaming is a past time. Get some perspective.
One of the most entitled and self centered comments I have ever had in reply.
Re: Feature: "Game-Key Cards Don't Sit Right With Us" - Lost In Cult Dives Into Its New Physical Games Line
I've pre ordered some game key cards. They are games I want to play.
