Re: Pokémon TCG Art Contest Disqualifies Select Entrants Following Accusations Of AI-Generated Submissions

DripDropCop146

@Dinglehopper No kidding. Alot of that AI art is generic too. Looks lifeless, and has an uncanny valley to it. Especially the hyper realistic ones. Don't know. AI art just looks very unimaginative most of the time.

Besides, AI art to me can't replicate the emotional attachment to art itself. Can't explain why, but to use an example here; Nine years ago a friend of mine drew a picture of two characters from my favorite childhood tv show.

She didn't know anything about the show except for the things I told her, yet she took time out of her day to spend a month drawing a picture for me. One of the best gifts I ever got.

9 years later I returned that favor. Granted I'm no artist myself, however I went out and hired one. I explained in detail what visual image I had in my head, and why each of detail was important. Final product exceeded those exceptions, and felt special. When I gave it to her, she was overjoyed.

Honestly, I'm not artist myself, so alot of info I get comes from various artists who passionately explain their dislike of AI art. So, I sympathize with them.

Just based on the images that plague the internet now personally look terrible enough for me to not care for AI art in general.

Re: 'The Zelda Effect' Causes Game Sales To Drop This May (Europe)

@smithyo I can't say I agree with that take on BOTW. One of the problems with open worlds games is the plot urgency takes a backseat to freedom, which in turn can affect the overall weight of a story.

But that's just me. Open world games fail to engage because I lose interest due to freedom. It also makes giggle when I think about the absurdness of it all.

Like you introduce a end of the world threat, and said threat just sits there while you're goofing off for hours. It can be quite easy to forget there is even a story sometimes with open world games.

I did this quite alot with BOTW. Even still, the more interesting story of BOTW already happened 100 years ago. I found that story more engaging than the one BOTW told.

BOTW personally to me was just alright.

Re: Nintendo Issues Multiple DMCAs On The Modding Site 'GameBanana'

@axelhander We say "lesser of evils" as way to accept that even if the lesser is bad, it's not as worst as the worst bad.

Evil itself is just evil. However, there is different tolerances of "evil" society accepts for the sake of comfort and convenience. In this case, Nintendo is "evil", but when compared to the worst offenders, Nintendo is easier to live with.

Re: The First Review For Shin Megami Tensei V: Vengeance Is In

@Pillowpants Hey, first off my apologies for the late reply.

I wasn't trying to make any point at all. Just merely an observation to the section of the article about people feeling put off by this re-release of a 3 year old game.

You are correct it's double the size. However, it's a still a 3 year old game you are re-purchasing at full price just to get that extra content. It's only naturally people will a certain way about paying re-purchasing the base game just to experience the additional content.

Let's say you are one the few who went out your way to own the game right before the announcement. Well now, you essentially would have to pay extra to get the better version.

It would be one thing if this new content was sold as separate DLC for Switch owners for a cheaper price, with QoL improvements being free to download.

That's all my comment is, just a simple "Eh..."

Re: Garry's Mod Is Removing "All Nintendo Related Stuff From Steam Workshop"

DripDropCop146

@RubyCarbuncle No, the NDF is not out in full force. It's just how things are. Some people in the community think they are entitled to do what they please with licensed property.

Surprise, they aren't. You don't have to agree with it, but it's Nintendo's right to remove stuff that belongs to them. If you don't like that fact, create something that is originally yours.

NDF applies when Big N is actually doing something anti-consumer. This nothing more than a company claiming rights to their own property from people who using it without consent.

If you want to use the models, then ask Nintendo. Oh that's right, you won't. You won't because you know the answer will be a big "No".

Re: Embracer Group To Split Into Three Separate Companies

DripDropCop146

@GravyThief Middle-Earth enterprises is the sequel to LoTR.

After the one ring was destroyed, Embracer purchased the rights to the land of Mordor. Eventually they took over all of Middle-earth.

Not even the combined powers of Gandalf and Aragorn could stand against the might of Embracer's legal team.

Re: Lara Croft's Pinup Posters Go Missing In Tomb Raider I-III Remastered

DripDropCop146

@smithyo Shorty after the removal of digital pin-up posters from a remaster of a 30 year old game, that's when the riots broke out. Civil war among various citizens across various nations.

Governments declared a state of emergency, men in uniform to tame the unrest and end the violence. But alas, it was for naught.

Then the missiles came, leveling entire cities. In a panic, billionaires fled to their underground bunkers. Hiding like frighten children as the world around them crumbled.

These events took place yesterday. Those of us who survived created isolated societies. We bore children in hopes of one day undoing our mistake.

Our mistake of removing Pin-Up posters from a 30 year old game.
