@batmanbud2 Looks like you need a bit of backup. So im going to offer you some defense.

@Fangleman32 @glaemay @LadyCharlie @The-Chosen-one. I think having a story being part of the game is fine. Especially if the devs manage to make both interweave brilliantly so each shines together.

Now will a game's story be as a good as a book? No, of course not nor should strive to it. It's a different medium that calls for the story to be told in a way a book can't and vice versa.

But, the wonderful thing about storytelling is spans multiple forms of art and what's important is the teller, and how the audience perceives it.

I've played games where the devs mixed a personal journey from their real life into game form because to them that was the best form to express themselves. And some of the games left good impressions. These types of games the story is mixed in with the gameplay.

@JokerCK Of course it's inspiration. For instance I was so inspired by Mario, that now im working on game starring a mechanic in red overalls and a blue hat who gets sucked through an exhaust of a pickup truck.

He's magically transported to a far away kingdom to save the queen from a terrifying crocodile that breaths fire, and his army of anthropomorphic truffles.

Only problem is Nintendo keeps sending me copyright infringements. I guess the company doesn't know what inspiration means.

@Lightsiyd @SalvorHardin My criticism of SA2 is not the speed levels. In fact that is the best part. It's everything else that drags down the overall package. My main issue with SA2 is the momentum fades the moment you're no longer in control of Sonic or Shadow.

SA2 is overstuffed. It's too many ideas that are not polished or executed well. It's in a sense too bloated for it's own good which does more to make the product feel a bit dated.

The bloat comes from playing two sides of essentially the same characters. There's nothing to differentiate in gameplay.

Sonic/Shadow = Speed levels
Knuckles/Rouge = Hunt Emeralds level
Tails/Eggman = On Rails Shooter

The hunting levels are the weakest part of the game. Dragging down the momentum and in place repetitive stages that are just not fun to play.

The on rails shooters themselves are nothing interesting because the gameplay is too basic and simple.

You could cut out all those extra playable characters, just have the game alternate between Sonic and Shadow, and that would been perfect.

It's not the extra playable characters are bad, it's just they aren't fun. The game would have benefited if all the extra characters didn't play the same. It's essentially a mirror mode when you play as the bad guys which is a little boring.

I think the game is fine, but it's all the extra baggage that brings it down rather than elevates it.

Had the game either opt to cut out all the extra characters together, or the very least put more effort into making their gameplay unique, the game would be much better.

As far Shadow's character is concerned, it did take a bit of a nose dive in his debut game. The game comes along and essentially opts to "reset" the character in order to make him "darker". This comes at the cost of the character growth in SA2.

@GameOtaku Woah oh. Thanks for sharing. I had no idea such a show existed myself. Haha, the 90's were a fun time for Saturday morning shows.

@Ryu_Niiyama Yep, that show has cult following to this day. There was a site some years ago that did it's best to preserve it. Shame. Many shows from back then will eventually become lost to time.

I hope one day we get a mega collection of these shows remastered just so we don't end up with lost media.

@dkxcalibur Power Rangers is just the American adaption of the popular Japanese TV show Super Sentai. Why the Zords weren't more of a focus?

Well truthfully alot of Power Rangers just reused footage from the Japanese Show, and even some plot lines from the Japanese show. They've been doing that since the shows beginning.

What some people might not know is the creator of Power Rangers attempted to make an American version. Now I know that sounds weird, but what I mean is a show that was original on it's own yet inspired in part by Power Rangers.

That show was called "Mystic Knights of Tir Na Nog". A short lived series that could sorta be summarized as Power Rangers, but they are Medieval Knights instead. It borrowed heavily from Irish Mythology. It was cancelled after one season.

Extra Fact! Power Rangers isn't the only adaption of a Japanese Show Saban did. Another short lived series called "Big Bad Beetleborgs" used alot of it's combat footage from the "Metal Hero Series "

Final hidden secret fact! There was another show that was basically a sister show to the Power Rangers. It was called "VR Troopers". And what makes this last one so fun is it not only lifted footage from 1, but 3 different Japanese shows.

The reasons alot of these shows were cancelled can be boiled down to running out available Japanese footage to continue.

As to why the American original show was cancelled? Who knows. Maybe low ratings I suspect, as it's second season budget was used for Power Rangers.

@VHSGREMLIN I don't understand the appeal of the the Mario franchise, Steve doesn't under the appeal of the Halo franchise, Bob doesn't understand the appeal of putting pineapple on a hotdog.

And you know what? That's A-okay. You don't have to understand, but the people who do? Well they're having just as much fun as the franchises you do understand.
