Re: Video: 9 Exciting New Games Coming To Nintendo Switch In February 2022

DiamondJim

Quite possibly the worst month that I can possibly remember. There is no new first party Nintendo games being released. It's basically a month of indies with an Assassin's Creed game. When a really old Assassin's creed game is the highlight of the month you know it's a bad month. Lucky I've got a backlog & the new Pokemon game. March onwards to March and things pick up but February is slim pickings indeed.

Re: Soapbox: Pokémon Legends: Arceus Raises The Question - How Much Do Janky Graphics Matter?

DiamondJim

After changing Immortals Fenyx Rising (Great game BTW) With the Pokémon Arceus cartridge The downgrade in graphics was jarring. They’re still OK and I’m excited to get into the game. Thankfully the graphics are not as poor as Brilliant Diamond/Shining Pearl as the graphics in that stopped me from purchasing it. Top down games like Links Awakening can look beautiful so there is no excuse for how ugly Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl are.

Re: Talking Point: Do You Consider Pokémon Legends: Arceus To Be A Mainline Title?

DiamondJim

It feels and looks like a mainline game and would’ve had a big development budget, certainly a bigger budget than that ios/android looking game they just released BD/SP. Furthermore the Pokémon company refers to it as a mainline game except the title of the game clearly shows it’s a spin-off otherwise it would’ve been titled Pokémon Arceus. By having a Legends series it makes it a spin-off

Re: Back Page: After Spending $70B On Activision Blizzard... What If Microsoft Buys Nintendo Next?

DiamondJim

This is concerning for me. The Switch’s success is that it is a hybrid console with Nintendo exclusive games such as Mario, Zelda and Pokémon coupled with the best third party support Nintendo has ever had. If we take away 3rd party support from big developers like Bethesda and Activision/Blizzard and possibly more we might end up with a Wii U situation. As much as Mario, Zelda and Pokémon games are desirable good 3rd party support from AAA developers is also essential.

Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? (January 8th)

DiamondJim

It's a good time to hit the backlog as apart from Pokemon Legends Arceus there are no AAA titles releasing in January or February AT ALL. It's very bleak the next 2 months but March it starts to look better. So I'm getting back in to Stardew Valley and next I plan to start Ni No Kuni 2, Xenoblade 2 & Persona 5 Strikers.

Re: Mario Kart 9 Is "In Active Development" And Comes With A "New Twist", Analyst Claims

DiamondJim

If they can keep good games flowing for the next near on 3 years potentially they might be ok to wait until late 2024 to release the next gen console. I’m worried that Nintendo’s underpowered Switch might not be an attractive purchasing option in early 2024. Sony would’ve got a decent library of games for the PS5 by late 2024 so I think a late 2023 might make better sense

Re: Talking Point: Nintendo's Lining Up A Huge Year Of Gaming In 2022

DiamondJim

@Banjo I agree with you BOTW was a good game but it was also frustrating and annoying with weapons breaking especially during a storm which I thought was plain stupid as well as the empty and desolate samey open world which needed more characters, towns, etc. Hopefully BOTW2 addresses this so I remain hopeful.

Re: BioShock 4 Release Window, Time And Setting Details Reportedly Leaked

DiamondJim

I actually think it will come to Nintendo, whether it’s the switch or the new system that I think Bloomberg says a number of developers have kits for I don’t know. It could come to Switch if the 2022 release date is correct as the Switch is so dominant and I think the Bioshock trilogy has sold well on the Switch (correct me if I’m wrong) - Just hope it’s not a cloud version

Re: GTA Trilogy Dev Responds To Fan Frustrations, Says Updates Are Already In The Works

How damaging will this be to the Rockstar (owned by Take-Two) & GTA brand? I'm guessing not too damaging if GTA6 is amazing. But what if GTA6 disappoints on top of this disappointment? Then they'll be major issues. Let's face it doing this GTA trilogy should be a piece of cake compared to GTA6 and if they can't get this easy piece of cake right then maybe just maybe GTA6 might be disappointing or worse yet a Cyberpunk 2077 / Fallout 76 moment.

Re: Atlus Reveals New Details About Persona's 25th Anniversary Celebrations

What a complete let-down of an announcement. Even more so for everyone living outside of Japan as we get nothing. Having said that hopefully the reason is they don’t want to shift focus from SMT5. The next announcement is in December a number of weeks after the release of SMT5 and we have the Tokyo Games Show soon so I haven’t given up…….yet.
