Update (14:03 GMT): Well, that was quick. It has now been confirmed that LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga will indeed launch on 5th April.
A new extended gameplay trailer has been released (see above), confirming the date and showing fans what to expect when it launches.
Original Article (Thu 20th Jan, 2022 13:55 GMT): It looks like we could well be on the brink of receiving a confirmed release date for LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga, and it seems fans won't have much longer to wait.
Yesterday, rumours surrounding the game's launch hit the headlines after reliable Microsoft Store leaker Aggiornamenti Lumia hinted towards a 5th April release date. Of course, the last official news we received on the game's release date confirmed a spring 2022 launch, so an April release certainly sounds plausible.
But today, a now-deleted tweet from reputable UK gaming store GAME has added even more weight to that April date. The tweet, which can be seen in the screenshot below, once again mentions that 5th April date alongside information on a GAME-exclusive pre-order bundle.
If we had to bet, we'd say an official announcement regarding this release date is right around the corner. Stay tuned for more – we'll make sure to update this article if and when we hear more.

I’m surprised they didn’t decide to wait one month and go with May 4th on Star Wars day. I’m excited for this game and hope the delays made the wait worth it.
About time!! I was getting worried it was canceled. I just hope the switch version runs well.
They really couldn't make it the 4th?
Sweet! Now let's just hope that the Nintendo version isn't the buggiest way to play like in previous games. I'm really looking forward to this one.
Release on the 4th of may would be much cooler
Why dont they make a game like this non lego?
I've never seen so many people beg for a game to be delayed for reasons not relating to its quality.
I'm interested in seeing what they'll be doing to make it feel fresh. The form of all the original games ended up feeling rather dated and samey.
Shame it's so soon after Kirby. That'll take my priority and money. Besides it'll likely be half the price within a couple of months.
Finally! A little longer and it would have outlasted Duke Nukem Forever as the game that had been delayed the longest.
Having not played a Lego game since Lego Star Wars: The Complete Saga on the Wii, it looks from the trailer like they've done a lot more than just add the sequel trilogy and touch up the graphics. The more complex combat and upgradable abilities are completely different.
The question is whether these new bells and whistles will actually make the game more fun. Part of the joy of the old titles was the simplicity of the hack-and-slash (and solve some Force puzzles) gameplay, even if it did get a bit repetitive. One to keep an eye on.
fingers crossed its april 4th and not delayed i always give my kids a sw gift on 4th may this will be an awsome suprise
cue the Hallelujah Chorus!
WOW
Uhhhhh this could quite easily be the best Lego/Star Wars game we've ever gotten, not even gonna lie
Finally a release date for the game.
Looks great, can’t way to play as Boba Fett flying around in Slave-1
I hope they add levels based off the series they made like The Mandalorian & The Clone Wars, this looks really cool so I can't wait until it comes out
This honestly looks amazing. Been waiting for so long, but it looks worth it
I will wait for the reviews on this one, as I now have a Series X as well, if it had come out as planned I would have simply rushed out and got it for the Switch.
Looks good. I've enjoyed all the others, and this appears to have taken the best things out of other Lego games (the strategy games from Clone Wars, improved shooting and cover from Force Awakens) and added in a bunch of major improvements. Day 1 for me. Looks massive already, but hoping there's dlc based on the anthology films and maybe the Disney+ series.
@TKundNobody @B238ben Perhaps the Emperor ( Disney) has something special planned for May 4th and doesn't want a long-delayed product stealing any limelight...
@B238ben They DID go with a 5/4 release date, it's just that star wars is American and therefore that is May the 4th, whereas the lego game is made by an English studio, and that date is read as the 5th of April over here in Europe.
Along time ago in a galaxy far far away I just about remember this game being mentioned for the first time!! April the 5th can't come soon enough... yey!!
Been so long in a far far away galaxy I forgot this even existed along with who knows what I preordered went along with it.
Literally squeezing in the day before the end of financial year. WB needs something on their books!
Hopefully TT not being forced to release if not fully polished.
Nonetheless looks great! Now the decision whether to get it on Switch or PS5.
This looks pretty sweet to me, but after watching the trailer pretty sure I will be getting this for the Series X, hoping for a 4K HDR presentation on my LG C1 OLED.
Will probably double dip on the Switch when the price drops, for some handheld action.
This comes out only a few days before my birthday YESSSSS
1. funny to see so many other people on the same page as me wondering why it wasn't scheduled for May 4th lol.
2. in my opinion, the character of Kylo Ren carried the sequel trilogy, and he's the only blood Skywalker left. yet, Rey is front and center. I dunno, if evil-ish Anakin could be the star of the prequels, I don't know why evil-ish Kylo has to be pushed alllll the way to the left side of the scene between Boba Fett and Maz Kanada O_o
But hey, I admit to being an unreasonable Kylo fanboy, so, my opinion is biased. ^_^
This looks incredible!!
I think I got both DLX from GameStop and BestBuy with the LEGO from GS and SteelCase from BB. Are people going to trade these when they them as well?
@Reyren I'm going for portability. It's a LEGO game, the visuals will only be so good.
Finally, more news on this
SO STOKED! I love that the Mumble Mode actually made the cut
@JohnnyLew I was thinking the 20th Century Fox fanfare.
Great! I was looking forward to this one. It looks really ambitious to be squeezed onto a Switch cartridge, but I'll wait and see...
@SwitchForce Will be interesting to see if Best Buy still honors those preorders from over a year ago.
You would think it's a non issue but I have lost faith in them since
@JasmineDragon now that's what I'm talking about!
Excellent. I am a fan of the lego video games as a whole
Just in time for my birthday! Hopefully it will be as awesome as it looks like.
Does anyone know whether this is going to be an all-new game, or just a collection of the previous Lego Star Wars games?
@Fizza well I guess may the April 5th be with you!
@Pak-Man watch the trailer. Planet maps instead of the past hubs. Side missions. Alternate paths in levels. As said in the trailer and more! Hopefully it will get Clone Wars DLC!
Excited for this, glad it's almost here.
Doesn’t seem to be much collecting of bricks. The combat seems to be more varied. Heaps of different locations. The graphics look great. It looks amazing and a big step up from your standard Lego games. Can’t wait for this.
This looks very good. Everything looks so pretty. I don't know if I'll be able to justify getting the Switch version, though.
Ah LEGO Star Wars, it can even make the Sequels look good.
In the UK, at least, they appear to have split the Character Packs, meaning it's not possible to order all the content.
There are 7 DLCs, in the US and other territories all 7 DLCs come with the Deluxe version.
In the UK, only 6 DLCs come with the Deluxe. Amazon have exclusivity on the Classic Character Pack.
Amazon don't sell a Deluxe + Exclusive version. So you either have to have 1 DLC or 6 DLCs.
Hopefully it's possible to upgrade to the Deluxe version digitally, in which case in terms of acquiring all the content, at this stage it's best to buy the Amazon exclusive version, then upgrade later.
