Shadow Man Remastered is due out on the Nintendo Switch in 2021, so when is the exact date of its arrival? According to a Switch eShop listing, fans won't have to wait very long at all...
The official Nintendo game page says it'll be launching next month on January 17th or 18th, depending on your location. And it will set you back $19.99 USD or your regional equivalent.
The remaster is being handled by Nightdive and uses the studio's proprietary KEX engine - which has been used to remaster games like Turok, Turok 2: Seeds of Evil and Strife: Veteran Edition.
The game itself will include the "reintroduction" of missing content from the original release, refined gameplay, art, audio, assets and even Pro Controller support. Here's a teaser trailer:
Is this a game you've been looking forward to revisiting? Do you have any memories of the original title on the N64 or perhaps another platform? Tell us down in the comments.

Never played the original but if it’s not like many N64 era games and managed to age well I’ll give it a go.
I thought this was already on the eShop!
I remember renting this when I was a kid and either getting scared or I had no clue what to do. Maybe ill check it out.
Haven't played this one before, so there's no nostalgia factor for me here. It looks intriguing in terms of the general mood but also seems to have aged quite badly.
I own this on the Dreamcast and the sequel on the PS2. Played both. Entertaining at the time. Not sure I would be in a rush to revisit either unless the extra content makes it worth it though.
I hope the release turok 3 next.
Nightdive rules! I've never played this game, but I'm here for it day one just because I love their work. Let's go!
I loved this game growing up, one of my favourites, I'm interested to see how they have "remastered" it because those graphics were rough even at the time, fortunately good graphics back then didn't mean it was a good game.
I'll get this day 1.
I had this for the N64 and liked it back in the day. We have moved forward a long way in gaming since then and it doesn't look to have aged well even with the remaster.
Great news! This is one of the best Dreamcast games.
Yes another blast from the past of the 64-Bit/128-Bit era. This is one of the better game of the time that is if you play it on the N64 and Dreamcast and not the crappy PS1 version.
@NintendoByNature same! Had no idea what to do and all I remember was “come on, slow poke!” and some stuffed bear…
I’m more than willing to give this another go now that I’m older and what I like to call, “more mature.”
@ChromaticDracula I may not be more mature these 20 years later, but im willing to give it a fair shake 😉
Still have it complete with map on my 64 and finished it years ago.
Great game.
I will double dip for the extra content that was dropped.
One of my favourite N64 games, played it to death. A few years later, the Art Director (Paul Docherty) joined my Game Design course as a lecturer, so we got to see loads of scrapped art assets from the original sequel (not 2nd Coming) and Forsaken 2 in our Modelling For Games modules!
@CharlieGirl You may be thinking of Slender Man.
Legit thought this was cancelled due to zero news and - yknow, the global pandemic. But looking forward to replaying this.
I’ve been waiting for this one. This and Banjo in the same month. Nostalgia heaven
@FragRed
It did not age well. It was a great game though.
I rented this back in the day for N64 and couldn't figure out where to go or what to do lol. It was an intriguing enough concept to me so maybe I'll give it another go.
I have so many great memories of playing this on N64 and beating it. At least 3 times. N64 magazine called it Zelda's evils twin. If you play it now your basically retro gaming and you need to understand that. I might check it out
@Liam_Doolan
Waiting for the inevitable physical release from Limited Run.
I can wait for a Limited Run release.
I played the N64 version and finished the game, it was ok but doesn't really stand out for me. I remember if you die on the last boss it gives you a bad ending, you can retry though.
Oh wow, I’ve not heard anything of this game since I played it with a friend when it first released. Will definitely check it out.
I played the hell out of this game back in the day on the N64
One of the greatest horror games ever made, no hand holding, great combat and interesting story, what more could you want.
@DaftAda wow, I would love to see that stuff
@NintendoByNature
I agree. It feels like there's a subgenre of games exclusive to the N64 that I would describe as:
3D Platformers that are adequate for an hour before you come to an impassible door or get completely lost in a honeycomb-like maze, look around for another hour, shrug your shoulders, then never play the game again.
That wasn't just me, was it?
@Ron22 I think it was more just me being younger at the time to being a big part of not knowing what to do. I'm betting If I went back to my library I'd be able to get much farther at My age now than I was back then.
Still have my original N64 cartridge of this game. Played it all the way through ..it was challenging and there were some annoying sections and poor level design but the story and gameplay elements were very unique. Even more so this has to be one of the 1st games I can recall that had a black lead character! Shamefully still something you don’t see too often , even in 2021. Might have to pick this up for the nostalgia
@MeloMan
It’s definitely a game you’d have needed to own to complete or fully grasp it. I just mentioned the game was a bit culturally groundbreaking at the time. I remember being blown away by its mature subject matter appearing on the N64..one of the 1st times I heard full out curse words in a video game!
@MEGAMAN_D
This!! I guess u and I were amongst the select few to see the game thru! You already know what’s up! I’m pretty hyped for this release!
The reason this used to get compared with Zelda is because it's as least as much about exploring every inch of the non-linear world as it is about combat. And then do it again with new abilities to find new paths later on.
The things to bear in mind though, are:
Traversal itself is challenging (think Tomb Raider) as opposed to effortless.
The levels can be twisted mazes (think Quake) as opposed to clearly understood, well-landmarked places.
The enemies can be right ***** and hurt you with projectiles from a long way away. Or leap out of nowhere and charge at you with flailing knives and gnashing teeth.
The atmosphere is absolutely miserable, with everything stretched skin and blood and lava, and the moaning of tortured souls pouring out of the speakers constantly.
But as a teenager, this was catnip. I 100 percented this beast and it made me man!
