February is upon us, and you know what that means... more new games are en route to the Nintendo Switch. With January almost out of the way then, what exactly have we got to look forward to over the next month? Never fear because the lovely Alex is here to give us the full rundown.
Sherlock Holmes: Crimes and Punishments
OlliOlli World
Ocean’s Heart
EGGLIA Rebirith
Grapple Dog
Infernax
Assassin’s Creed: The Ezio Collection
Sol Cresta

Cannot wait for Ezio trilogy portable!!
Ocean's Heart I've wanted for ages since they showed it on an Indie Direct. I love the Egglia art style, but the fact it started as mobile worries me, especially control-wise. No real interest in the others except maybe Infernax if it reviews well.
Q : What games on this list will you be checking out in the month of February?
Me : Youtubers Life 2 !!!
Bc of the DL size of ezio collection, I'm going to hold out. With that said, I'm glad it's going to be a Light month for me. Infernax and oceans heart, which I'm not complaining about.
unless we get a Nintendo Direct then February is a nothing month for Nintendo fans, i will be busy playing Horizon 2 and Elden Ring
Monark is all I care about in February, March however, is packed with way too much Im genuinely hyped for. I hope games are spaced a bit better in the months following
Slim pickings, here’s hoping we get a Direct in February
Will get sol cresta and olli olli world. Will get Ezio collection once it is down to 20 bucks. Need to play the demo for Monark first though. I have meglam lord preordered I think.
Yeah, February looking quite light compared to PS5’s monster lineup. Don’t really blame Nintendo for not even attempting to compete, they’ll sell the evergreen titles regardless.
@Zoda_Fett Great shout. Monark is by far the most interesting game for February. I’m actually starting to think it might be quite good. Like at least a solid 7, but maybe an 8 or 9.
Atelier Sophie 2 for me in february.
Can't be bothered with another lazy AC re-release on Switch from Ubisoft.
Infernal for me xx
I really enjoyed Sherlock Holmes: Crimes and Punishments. I hope it’s profitable on Switch.
Sol Cresta for me.
@nessisonett Other than GoW, most of the big hitters this year on PS4 (and PS5, since Sony doesn't seem to have any next-gen exclusives lined up before 2023) seem to be stacked in February. Nintendo often has that problem with big releases all being clustered in Q3 - Q4, but so far they're doing a great job of spreading releases out across the year. Legends: Arceus in January, Kirby and Triangle Strategy in March, Advance Wars in April.
Meanwhile, Microsoft has... Starfield... maybe... in November? It's no wonder they're snapping up companies left and right.
@Mattock1987 I think we'll get a Direct next month indeed.
@nessisonett TBH, they still need to improve the production of PS5s, I still haven't seen any in a store yet. Either physical and online. (Except for scalper shops) I am now on a "waiting"-list by Sony. And even that doesn't guarantee that I can buy one.
@Ralizah GOW Ragnarok is also a cross gen release. Just saying.
I guess in a way you could say PS5 has no true 1st party exclusives this year.
Also Grand Turismo 7 I believe is a March release.
Also iirc Mario Party Superstars and Metroid Dread both came out in October
I don't know much about Sol Cresta but I love a good schmup so I'm curious about that one. Other than that it's only really Grapple Dog for me. PS5 is pretty packed for Feb anyway and there's always the backlog! Always.
It’s gonna be Ezio. I own all the games on the PS3 and it was only a couple of years that I properly completed them, but I’m (misguided or otherwise) drawn to play them handheld. Just like Black Flag 3 etc. daft, I know , but hey ho
@Rayquaza2510 well the Rebel Collection ran good on Switch and also lazy Collection? Really?
At least Ubisoft is porting it to Switch natively and is putting in the effort unlike Square Enix who put Kingdom Hearts on Switch despite 1.5 and 2.5 being on PS3. And iirc, the Ezio Collection were games from the PS3 era too.
So imo and in a way, you can’t really say that the Ezio Collection will be lazy Collection compared to what you saw with Square and Kingdom Hearts on Switch.
@uptownsoul well, BOTW isn’t a Switch exclusive. And that’s the truth. And you are right about that
It’s a 1st party Nintendo game and it is a Nintendo exclusive which are both true.
But it is not a Nintendo Switch exclusive and it is also not a Wii U exclusive. The same can be said with all the Wii U ports on Switch.
For GOW Ragnarok. It’s a 1st party PS game but it is not a PS5 exclusive and it’s not a PS4 exclusive. The PS5 has a good lineup of 1st party games this year but they aren’t exclusive if those same games are also launching on PS4 ( which they are like HFW, GOW Ragnarok, and GT7)
So therefore GOW Ragnarok is just a PS exclusive for now (unless if it goes on PC eventually after a few years)
Infernax for me but I'll have to wait until my LE before I get to play it.
I'm fine with that as I have too many games in my backlog to get through.
@Anti-Matter Oh Anti-Matter, you're always good for throwing a stick in our spokes.
Good, In glad there's nothing appealing this month on switch since I wanna dive into dying light 2 and elden ring. That being said I haven't bought a switch game since dying light in December, and before that it was Metroid dread. Really hasn't been anything good lately
@KBuckley27 Pretty sure a lot of us are gonna be spending a ton of time with Arceus in February.
@Deepdoop I ain’t buying anything in February. But March for me is Kirby and in April is Leo Star Wars
Honestly for how stacked this year supposedly is the only games I am interested in are Kirby and lego Star Wars.
@anoyonmus Lego star wars will probably be the next switch game I get, unless Kirby turns out to be a masterpiece that is challenging and has more than 10 hours of content, which I'm hopeful for but I'm also not holding my breath.
Where's Outer Wilds?
Where's Fall Guys?
Where's House of the Dead?
Where are all those games that were announced at Directs almost a year ago
@Deepdoop well have kirby games ever been challenging?
At least Lego Star Wars and The Skywalker Saga are gonna take a while to finish. It's gonna be filled with a lot of content. Now if we could get some DLC along too like that Book of Boba Fett and Mandalorian or that Obi Wan Kenobi show DLC
I want Ezio Collection, but between the file size even for the physical version, and the fact that I still haven't played through Rebel Collection, it'll be a LONG time before I bite.
The only thing I'm interested in this February is Atelier Sophie 2.
@kingbk I really want house of the dead but haven't heard anything about it since it was announced
@Would_you_kindly There seems to be a lot of games that were announced at Directs last year that we haven't heard a thing about.
@anoyonmus we'll definitely get dlc, so I think we'll get character packs from the shows, I wouldn't be surprised if the madalorian is already gonna be in the game. As for Kirby, yeah it'll probably be as easy as it always is. That's why I'm hoping it's meaty, if its still super easy but I can sink over 20 hours into it I'll still pick it up.
@uptownsoul I don't need to point it out to you or anyone else because I ALREADY know that all Wii U ports aren't Switch exclusives SINCE BOTW released (although I got my Switch in 2019).
If the next Switch does have cross gen games, I will ofc know that they aren't Switch exclusives or next gen Nintendo Switch exclusives. I don't need to point it out. Its obvious they aren't. Its called common sense.
This convo is over so end of story.
OlliOlli World and Monark look good. I'm just ready for Kirby and Triangle Strategy, even though I'm only buying one of them at launch.
@Deepdoop but its just characters right? Damn, I want to be able to play Rogue One's story in LEGO form though. And the Mandalorian Story in LEGO form AND the Solo: A Star Wars Story in lego mode. Probably won't happen but as DLC it should be nice stories
Lets hope Kirby is quite long enough
"New"
Old Assassin's Creed collection.
Hmmm okay.
MAAAYBE Ocean's Heart or Grapple Dog. Otherwise this looks like a good month to catch up on the old backlog.
I will be playing Horizon Forbidden West for the next few months.
@UglyCasanova "New" to Switch...
A quiet month (on Switch) overall.
@NintendoByNature hey man - big dl size is better than cloud game though.
@Sonos 100% agree. Just kind of getting a little tired of biting the bullet on some of the bigger DLs.
@nessisonett I’m sure that new Pokémon that just came out will still be selling
Geez, is it no wonder we keep getting stuff that we completed a gazillion times ten years ago on a different console or PC, when we get people having passive attitudes like: "Oh yeah, I've completed [game] a bunch of times on [console 2-3 generations ago], but I think I'll buy it again because I'll play it portably for less than ten minutes."? I'm just so bored of my Switch because it doesn't really have anything exclusive, except a drip feed every 1-2 years...
Pass pass and pass. But thats ok. I'm too busy lately! Excited for Kirby in April.
There is also Monark coming this February for a global release as well. Looks like a cool game from the demo I played.
@invictus4000 kirby is out in March not April btw
Ocean's Heart looks cool, but I'm not dying to get it right away. There aren't any games I'm planning to get in February, though it'll be a good time to set money aside for a Steam Deck and March's huge lineup of games that interest me.
Tormented Souls and Life is Strange: True Colors for me! I'll get Monark eventually too.
Why isn't Tormented Souls or Life is Strange: True Colors above? They're both February 25.
Quite possibly the worst month that I can possibly remember. There is no new first party Nintendo games being released. It's basically a month of indies with an Assassin's Creed game. When a really old Assassin's creed game is the highlight of the month you know it's a bad month. Lucky I've got a backlog & the new Pokemon game. March onwards to March and things pick up but February is slim pickings indeed.
Ezio Collection is still oddly absent on Russian eShop (which obscures the local price as well), but so were Demon's Gaze and Death end re;Quest 2 (by the way, yet another February highlight after the first game proved to be one of my best Switch purchases last year), and both are listed now. AC games have never skipped this region on Switch before, so here's hoping it's just an error.
@uptownsoul "Either way, it's funny how this definition of "exclusive" never got talked about by anyone during the 1st couple years of the Switch..."
Some attribute this to the notion that the 1st party ports could feel like legitimately new games to the Switch userbase that outnumbered Wii U's by the end of the first year. PS4 userbase, even if it's not literally 116 million (accounting for upgrades and such, although even many upgrades see the older units sold off or gifted to friends and relatives), is a bit of a different story - between the backward compatibility and the lineup, some owners of both gens may indeed wonder if they've effectively bought a PS5 (which still remains quite a side quest in itself) for the SSD and DualSense. Not that I can relate to such worries - I buy the consoles I can play on, exclusives factor in a distant second.
@DiamondJim it's literally just 9 games in the video. As others have pointed out above, the list is far from complete and has conspicuous absentees like Life Is Strange collection. There are also Death end re;Quest and Atelier Sophie sequels, Monark and Crystar, Dynasty Warriors 9 Empires and Maglam Lord... and even the indies also include Trash Sailors and an animesque civilization sim (The Hundred Year Kingdom). The Cruel King and the Great Hero comes out just a day "late" on March 1 as well.
@AG_Awesome 2 is the best assassins creed game.
@nhSnork When you add those to the list it doesn’t sound quite so disastrous. Nintendo Life should’ve made a bit more effort compiling this list.
Oh I won’t be buying anything next month then. Unless we get some shadows drops following a Direct. Come on where’s Pikmin 4?!!!
Video: 8 horribles New Games Coming To Nintendo Switch In February 2022, at least you can consider SOL CRESTA saving the month.
Nothing that's already been announced. I have Legends Arceus, lots of backlog and March is insanely packed so it doesn't really matter though it would be nice to have a Direct soon.
@nhSnork The Life is Strange collection got delayed for Switch (still releases in February for Xbox and PS).
Never buy an indie day one, I know we should support these guys. Just I like a discount.
@Grumblevolcano Tormented Souls and Life is Strange: True Colors come out February 25
@AG_Awesome I really hope it doesn’t suffer the same fate as gta trilogy
@invictus4000 Kirby is March 25th homie
Kingdom Hearts is my baby boy. WHERE IS MY BABY BOY
@Krull I agree, since announcement I’ve been keeping tabs on it, but after that demo I’m beyond sold. First time I’ve ever pre ordered a game the very next day after playing a demo!
I think trading standards would have a lot to say about the use of ‘exciting’ in the title when the line up clearly isn’t!
Is nobody else here SUPER STOKED for OlliOlli World??
OlliOlli 1&2 are stone cold classics, and now this one is taking things to a whole new level. I've been psyched about this for over a year.
I'm also wondering where The Outer Wilds has got to.
I even DM'ed Annapurna on Twitter to ask, but didn't receive a reply. Come on, guys!
Backlog is so huge that I've declared a no game purchase policy for the next month. Hoping to get some new announcements for things to look forward to for the next half of the year though!
Grenat games Indeed, but Powerslave : Exhumed deserve to be in this list!
FPS and Metroid fans should discover this gem. (Hope for 60fps)
Forza Horizon 5 keeps me busy until the release of Kirby and the forgotten land.
Sol Cresta for me!!
Yeh Feb looks weak to be sure, but this is not really much of a diversion from Nintendo's normal behavior. They often wait until the E3 window to announce their major releases for the year and then the games start flowing in the fall and winter. This year is gonna be stacked (for all platforms) so we know we are going to have some crazy packed months coming up.
As for all this cross-gen exclusive back and forth....umm why can't we just say the game is a PlayStation, Xbox, or Nintendo exclusive? I understand those that want to get picky as in a way definition does matter. The reason why is; what exactly is coming out that I have to have a PS5 (or other system) to play?
As for Nintendo cross gen exclusives.....really there has only been one newly released cross gen Nintendo exclusive that I am aware of and that was BOTW. Remember they did the same thing with TWP. It is a little different story in that with both those tittles the last gen systems were both dead and those games were a swan song for those systems . As for other WiiU ports...they were just that, sure they are Nintendo exclusives but as others have said N ported them because in most cases they are top notch games and almost no one played them do to the WiiU selling like crap. Meanwhile Switch was and is getting plenty of Switch (Nintendo) exclusives while there has been little yet on PS or Xbox that has made people say ' I need to update my console', and if they wanted to could they?
As for all those new gen titles releasing on both current and last generations. It makes sense for a few reasons. First many of these games started development years ago so were intended to run on Gen7 hardware. Second....all these boxes are x86 boxes with varying levels of CPU/GPU/RAM and HDD/SSD configs. The generation gap has been shrinking and the scalability of developments has been increasing. So if a game can run 4K@60FPS on a SeriesX/PS5 then it can likely run in some lower/acceptable output on the older boxes (like 1080p@30). So you just put 10s of millions into developing a game for 4yrs why not release it on as many viable hardware variants as possible? The new systems are selling well, as well as they can with very limited stock availability. Who knows how well the PS5 would be selling if everyone who wants one could get one. So for those reasons expect to keep seeing cross gen exclusives for a while because until $ony and M$ get enough new hardware out there to have a big enough audience to sell their exclusives to then they are going to keep pushing cross gen releases both to increase their software unit sales and to appease their fanbases who are still using last gen because they can't find the new stuff. First party exclusives are incentives to buy new hardware, but when there is no new hardware to be had then why bother pushing it only on the new hardware. As long as a game can run acceptably on last gen I see no problems with cross/gen releases. Someday the supply side issues will get worked out and 10s of Millions of users will finally upgrade to the new boxes but until then expect the 'old' systems to keep getting supported.
