Well, it's here, the Champions' Ballad DLC / Pack 2 for The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild on Wii U and Switch. It's an exciting release, especially as Nintendo went all Hollywood with an 'out tonight' announcement during The Game Awards - it was a great moment.
If, for some reason, you're actually on the fence about jumping into this DLC right away, we've put together a little video above explaining why you should be excited. Not that you need to be convinced, right?
Let us know how you're getting on with this DLC in the comments.

Not bought it yet, but plan to do so when I've completed the main game. Only two more Divine Beasts to go!
"Reasons to play the DLC of a GOTY". Wow. I doubt there's a better reason than that it is GOTY XD
I’m unclear on what is actually included. I haven’t had a chance to play yet. Do you actually get to play as the Champions? (I’m not in a position to watch the video, either.)
Only reason I haven't bought it yet is I'm still at work!
I played it for a few hours last night. I'm stuck in a frustrating way during the second wave of quests. I just had a thought as I'm sitting here at work, but it will have to wait until I get home. Why didn't I bring it with me to work today???
Downloaded last night while getting ready for bed. Waiting to pick the kids up from school so we can enjoy the beginning together, can't wait!!!!
1. Because I bought it on March 3rd.
2. MOTORCYCLE IN HYRULE!
3. MOTORCYCLE IN HYRULE!
4. MOTORCYCLE IN HYRULE!
5. MOTORCYCLE IN HYRULE!
Oh cool. Been waiting to see if this was any good. Only part of the DLC I care about. See how long the story take to complete. Zero Dawn Story expansion was a good length for $15
Monster Hunter World Beta is this weekend so I'll wait for now. Maybe after finishing Xenoblade 2 and Starting NinoKuni2
I've just started this now but I can't wait to be able to actually use my horse, whenever I take one I end up getting off to explore and am always too far away to call it back. Seriously, in the 100 odd hours I've played I've probably only spent about 10 minutes with my horse
I want it but I don't want to pay for the expansion pass. I don't like how you can't buy the DLC packs separately. I have no interest in the first one at all. Decisions, decisions...
Eh maybe in the coming months or years there's nothing else to play, but I'm good for the time being. I got my fill when the game first came out. I'll give it a pass for now.
Honestly, this is pretty low on my priority list. Just gotta finish Xenoblade 2 first which, judging from my progress so far, will take at least until Christmas. Then, I‘d rather play Splatoon or some of the other games I‘ve still got laying around.
I promised myself that I would put down BOTW for a year. I played like 200+ hours of this game. I didn't buy the DLC because I need to catch up on my backlog. I'm fighting through Horizon Zero Dawn now, which is a brilliant, jaw-dropping game, but it's no Zelda...
I don't know... I think I'll wait.
Hard to believe people were actually complaining about this DLC when it was first announced, lol.
Two questions..
Do you have to have finished the main game to play The Champions Ballad DLC? And.. so is the new dungeon and a fifth devine beast mentioned in the video the same thing?
Thanks everyone!
Was really looking forward to this. Spent about an hour in total downloading and installing it (weird Wii U). Played for about 45 seconds before seeing a Game Over screen. WTF?
For those looking into more info on this - surprised NL hasn't done a full article on the DLC before this "reasons to play" video - here's a quick rundown of some relevant info.
1. You need to have completed the 4 Divine Beasts to do it. 99% of us probably already have, that's for the 1% who haven't yet. Though I'm not sure what happens if you haven't since I have.
2. The DLC is in the main game, it's not a separate story, it's more quests in the game.
3. It's 1 hit kills to start, so whether you have 3 hearts or 27 like I do, you die in 1 hit. Armor doesn't matter but they do let you keep everything unlike Trials of the Sword. You can block with a shield, that doesn't count as a hit. Though electricity kills you anyway.
4. There are a few other quests and items added. At least I think so, the weird Wii U stuff was messing with me. There are also 5 new memories listed, I'd guess one for each champion and Zelda but that's just a guess.
5. Thankfully the new sections have Japanese voices, not a separate download, it's built in.
So anyway I was really looking forward to this but the stupid 1 hut kills really turned me off. We already have a hard mode and difficult sword trials, don't know why they felt the need to make this so difficult to start. I really really really do not like playing 1 hit kill games, and that stupid Game Over screen is utterly ridiculous every time you die if all its doing is letting us go back to a save point anyway, just put us back there.
So I'm sure many of you will be thrilled with the challenge - probably all the people who complained SMOc was too easy - but I just want to play. Hard is 1 thing, but don't disavow my hard earned 27 hearts and ancient armor with a stupid 1 hit ploy, that's so cheap.
Purchased back in March, I am currently on my 2nd run in Skyrim and XC un-opened... damnit... where can i find more time...
I finally have a reason to get it IF you play as the Champions as that was my wish since they announced it.
If not I will probably pass. I could buy Hellblade with that money just adding a couple bucks.
Love it also i have to give props to this website for not having auto play videos like so many other gaming websites
Link on a bike seems cool. It's Breath of the Wild meets Grand Theft Auto! All we need now is 1st person mode!
This is unbelievable. I already didn't like the fact that there are too many things that look futuristic/sci-fi/out of place in a fantasy themed game and they made it even worse with a motorcycle.
@LuckyLand Technology has existed in the Zelda games for a long time. The bike is probably an extension of the new Divine Beast.
@rjejr that sounds awful, what the hell Nintendo. Guess I’ll put in on the back burner and continue with Steamworld Dig 2
One good reason not to buy it. To attempt to discourage Ninty from nickel-and-diming us for essential content later down the road.
@LuckyLand Technology has existed since Link's Awakening. Its not that bothersome. Plus didn't KI:U have a divine motorcycle and a spaceship?
@rjejr There are new memories?! HELL YEAH!!
I'm still doing the one hit kill stuff (in New Hampshire with the wife, visiting her great aunt for the afternoon) and I've died a handful of times. I've found it strict moreso than it is cheap. You still have access to all of your shields and bows and arrows. Armor special effects are still in place too; full warrior armor with the bow is still plenty effective. You can still eat for stamina, stealth, or the atk boost too.
The only thing I've disliked is not being able to put the weapon away in the shrines.
@Tempestryke Nintendo has been pretty open on this DLC being made AFTER the game was released.
@Tempestryke you make it sound like BOTW is an incomplete game without the DLC. Spoiler alert: it’s not.
@LuckyLand hey... you don’t have to buy it if it bothers you that much.
@thesilverbrick NO. But you get to see new flashback scenes from about the champions
I wonder what else will they include in the GOTY Edition next year...
I can’t wait to play this I’m so excited. Can’t wait for poopy work to finish so I can get home and play it!!
I had to wait until my Mum got home from work before I can start it ( ), she's become really invested in the Champions!
I've been waiting for it to download though, didn't think that it would be just over 2GB on Wii U, they must have added a decent amount of content!
...or just pre-rendered cutscenes and voice acting in different languages, but I'm hoping for the former
This is the worst open world dlc I have ever played. It's literally just the Master Trials but extended into the overworld with a couple of cutscenes for slight character exposition.
This is not a new story with its own arc, and it doesn't even deliver on helping us get to know the Champions properly. If look at other games with DLC in the $15-$20 range, they have 3/4 more content, while still maintaining quality.
I just want to know if the story is worth it?
One of those articles where you come for a succinct list and you get smacked in the face with a video instead.
With so many games on switch right now Im really not tempted. I was hoping for an oldschool kind of dungeon, some sort of big castle/temple thing, not another divine beast... And seeing a motorcycle in the Zelda universe just makes me sad. I may be the only one but to my opinion Botw took the franchise to a direction it should never have gone.
@rjejr I totally agree, I just loaded it up and was not pleased to find out it's a one hit kill challenge, not fun at all!
@rjejr I was downloading it on Wii U for almost an hour and a half! I had four download screens...but I think it was worth it.
It came with the Switch bundle I ordered back in April, so I'll get to it eventually. The motor bike and new divine beast / shrines sound fun, but 1 hit kills sounds horrible. In no rush as I'm focused on ranking up in splatoon 2 and finishing Xenoblade 2 though.
@rjejr Well, thank you for lowering the priority of playing this DLC even further. 1 hit kill? This is just plain ridiculous!
@GoldenGamer88 Go Santa go! Sorry, avatar got to me. 😆
@Salmonite17 That's a long download. Mine was more like 30 minutes of download and 30 minutes of install. Hopefully you meant 90 minutes total or you're still installing.
@Waluigi_fan Thanks for agreeing with me, it's been a very long day after a very long night.
@Indielink I guess I feel it's cheap b/c I've been waiting to play a more story driven adventure, getting all my hearts and armor ready to go, but then they just drop the 1 hit kill on us. Why? It just seems so unecessary. It's not called "Champions CHALLENGE", it's called "Champions BALLAD". Let the trident weapon thing take about 15 or 18 hearts, not 26 3/4, that's cheap. How many hearts did we have when the game started, 3? Leave me with that.
@Mr_Zurkon Well of course it sounds awful, awful is my middle name, don't let me dissuade you from playing it though. My 12 year old has been playing about an hour and he's only screamed in despair a couple of times.
Question, is the DLC crossbuy (So if you buy it on Wii U, you get it on Switch for free and visversa) or do they think we'll buy it twice? XD
@rjejr "So anyway I was really looking forward to this but the stupid 1 hut kills really turned me off. We already have a hard mode and difficult sword trials, don't know why they felt the need to make this so difficult to start. I really really really do not like playing 1 hit kill games, and that stupid Game Over screen is utterly ridiculous every time you die if all its doing is letting us go back to a save point anyway, just put us back there."
Git gud...
Lol, but seriously, I only died once because I forgot to equip a shield. You have an Op weapon, you should be able to kill them easily brfore they even touch you. Just don't get surrounded. You can still use arrows and stealth.
Personaly loved the one hit obliterator. Getting surrounded, evading keeses and arrows was Fun, I was really missing a chalange in this game. And It looks Luke they actualy putted effort making those shrine, as they are much better than your average shrine. No more doing quests to Just get a lame "you have already proven your worth" in the end. Surprised on the sudden amount of country after spending 260 hours to get ALL 120 shrines. I was needing this so bad.
@rjejr Yes. All in all it took an hour and a half.
Here's one reason why you shouldn't play it: BECAUSE NINTENDO DOES NOT DESERVE TO BE REWARDED FOR PURPOSEFULLY LEAVING THE DUTCH DUB OUT OF THIS GAME!!!
"If, for some reason, you're actually on the fence about jumping into this DLC right away..."
Well, seeing as Nintendo hasn't really bothered to tell us what's actually in it, yeah, I'm on the fence. Pack 1 is pathetic and full of stuff that should have been in the game, and the comments on this article are far more negative of Pack 2 than I was expecting.
A list of the new stuff would be most appreciated.
Thanks guys for the mini reviews, DLC1 was released when I had finished almost everything in the main game and DLC2 seems very poor value so I'll pass.
Having too many games to play is great, but Nintendo has officially overwhelmed me with content this year on the 3ds and switch. I completed 86 percent of botw, so ive logged a couple hundred hours into the game since it released. I have 500 power moon s in odyssey and plan to collect all of them. ive started fire emblem warriors and I'm actually enjoying a bit more than hyrule warriors but everything went on hold for xenoblade. 30 hours into xenoblade, Nintendo announces an arms event, splatoon 2 has added a bunch of new maps and weapons, pokken tournament is gearing up for an event and now botw is calling my name again. Call me crazy, but Nintendo should space these events and game releases out a bit better. I've actually neglected arms and pokken since they released and have even had trouble getting back into splatoon because of the massive flood of games. Keep in mind, I haven't even mentioned the backlog of 3ds games I've accumulated this year.
I bought the season pass on march so for me not a problem to play it, when finished a dozen of games...
The only concern about it it's that at the beginning i hoped that MAYBE you could play as the champions with their particular features and i would have loved if you could swim underwater or fly and find other little locations and secrets...
@RaphaBoss "Git gud" really was the only proper reply.
@rjejr lol, your comment about your son made me laugh.
@rjejr Agree with what you are saying about the one hit kills. Im afraud i have been dissapointed so far. Found it a very confusing start and you're given no story motivaton to perform the quest.
Are more DLCs coming? Remember when the Nintendo Duo won the GotY award they said it inspired them to improve the game and make it even better?
They said that they had made a wonderful world and that a new story taking place on the same world would be released, but this DLC is not exactly that...
The one hit kill section is like the shortest part of the dlc. It's not that big of a deal, and not very hard. Use arrows.
As somebody who has found every piece of armor in the game, including one piece of each amiibo armor, no duplicates of any... after getting Ravio’s hat and the Wind Waker shirt, I found that I wasn’t able to acquire Zant’s Helmet due to a full inventory. You will have to sell some things to get the DLC stuff. I’m gonna start with my tattered clothing from the beginning, but I’m sure more will have to be sacrificed. Lol
@Waluigi_fan @Indielink @Mr_Zurkon
In the interest of fairness, both my kids breezed past the 1 hit part. Spoiler, don't use the supplied weapon. My 1 son said he only used it for 10% of his kills, used different weapons for the other 90%.
I probably would have figured that out if I wasn't so tired after last night and so impatient after the 1 hour wait to download and install and in a rush to do other things.
Sorry if I turned any of you off the dlc, but on the bright side, it gets better.
@tamantayoshi "Use arrows."
Yeah, apparently. Seems like the way to go.
Waiwaiwait...use arrows ?
I thought you weren't allowed to use anything else ?
And here i was, trying to use the barely-working stealth mechanics...
Ok, giving it another shot now...literally
When the Switch first came out it was so hard for me to get a hold of and the only I could buy one was by purchasing a bundle from Gamestop. The bundle came with the BOTW dlc so I suppose I better give this a try. Can't wait to BOTW it up again!
I've been mildly disappointed with the beginning of the Champions' Ballad, and I say this as someone who has BotW as probably his favorite game of all time. It's just that it focuses on trial-like challenges, and not in what makes me love Zelda (the exploration and worldbuilding).
Hopefully it'll get to it... We shall see.
@BlueOcean may I have a source for them saying they were adding a “new world”? Because all I saw them promise was a new story and new dungeon, which this delivers.
I too hate the one hit kill part though. I didn’t finish the final stretch of the Master Sword trial DLC because I got frustrated, and I haven’t touched this game in months so I’m rusty. I just wanted to breeze through the DLC I paid for but I’m getting a migraine so I guess it’s back to XC2.
TERRIBLE idea on the motorbike.
@TheBigK I feel pretty much the same way.
convinced
Well, after having finished the first part of the DLC, im still looking for things i actually enjoy about it...
So far, it felt more like a chore than anything else.
I really hoped that they would focus more on storytelling rather than just providing more gimmicky shrines and tiresome challenge refights...
But its ironic. The DLC makes me feel the same way the heavily limited early game did back then. Im pretty much hating it through and through.
When the game finally opened up, and i could do things my way is when i enjoyed the heck out of it.
And all of this for a motorbike im probably never going to use since "It runs on materials" is the last thing i needed from it...
I really hope it gets better.
I thought it was a little underwhelming, but I still enjoyed it.
@Einherjar Yeah arrows worked, good thing I had about 100 of each, just finished those 4 shrines. Silly us huh.
This game deservedly won GoTY last night, but from what I've seen so far, in comparison to games like Horizon Zero Dawn and Witcher 3 this DLC won't be winning any awards. That green line though.
@rjejr Seeing those comments sure "saved" that one-hit part for me. For whatever reason, it never dawned on me to use a bow, since they already restricted you to using that....harp....sword....fan....thingy....
All in all, the DLC is...ok. But certainly not what i, and judging by the comments, many others as well were expecting.
From the teaser material, i was hoping for prequel content, playing the four heroes trials to become titan pilots.
What we got are more physics puzzles for a motor bike...
Not gonna lie, im not entirely sure im willing to finish the DLC at this point. What i played annoyed me more than i had fun with it.
Im probably seeking the little bits and bobs like clothes and saddles and call it quits.
The fixed-equipment bosses alone caused me to quit earlier already...
@rjejr I had no idea one hit kills was supposed to be a part of this DLC. That is definitely a major turn off to me in some respects.
@thesilverbrick It is decent DLC, but not for $20, because let's be honest DLC 1 was merely unfinished content that they later finished. No new dungeon, not even another short devine beast type. A bunch of shrines, more Breath of the Wild type story, meaning not much of one. It was supposed to tell more of the backstory of the champions and you get some of that, but it is in the same vein as the games story, continues to be the most dissapointingly forgettable Zelda story. It has some costumes that just repeat effects from other costumes just like all of the DLC 1 stuff. It also has a summon mount anywhere but the desert item, but doesn't work on Epona... WTF and a motorcycle which is cool but again $20 for that, a few shrines, more non story, rehashed boss fights that aren't even challenging and this DLC creates a puzzling issue where you cannot collect more armor if you have the Amiibo stuff (100 limit). Why would they limit the amount of armor to less then the amount of collectable armor in the game?! Meh DLC overall once price is considered.
You could’ve cut those five reasons to one, the motorbike, just as simple as that. XD
For the One-hit-death quest you get a weapon that one-hit-kills every enemy as well, so it's pretty fair!
Also, it's only for the first 4 (new) shrines on the plateau. and not for the (at least) 12 other new shrines in the other regions of Hyrule.
Tip: Just put your masks/armor on and the enemies won't attack you.
Use ninja/shiekah outfit to sneak, works fine as well.
I mean, if you still get hit by the enemies, you never learned to play it right.
Anyone else wildly in love with the new cutscenes? I honestly cannot pick a favourite.
Naaaaaaa I don't need a Alex Olney trick video to let me know if I should download or not (though I can tell he despises his job with the way he talks). Sonic Forces wan an absolute blast despite his "preview" review he removed on youtube a while back.
How many new shrines are there? And how many new quests?
I will get it. Just not yet. I have waaaay too much to play right now
@rjejr I finished the great plateau bits last night. Save. Save often. Kill something, save. Climb up a rock. Save. The shrine puzzles are brilliant, and the one hit KO adds a different element from the rest of the game. You can't save in shrines, either, so that's an added challenge. Personally, I loved it. And it's only the beginning!
So far I expected more from dlc 2
honestly regret buying the DLC because of the 'one hit kill' thing. I'm so disappointed at it's turned a great game I played to relax into a frustrating experience which just infuriates me.
@Tarvaax I thought the dlc is fun. Though, I got it free...
I don't know if I can wait but I'll get this when it's a my Nintendo reward discount after 4 years
This is literally every negative aspect of the full game concentrated into a DLC pack.🤣
@Dpullam It actually wasn't so bad once I resigned myself to the fact. Of course "resigned" is still a far cry from "let's play this great story Champions Ballad", but at least it only took an hour and having it end was oh so nice. Bow and arrows seems to be the consensus. I'm hoping it gets better now.
@Einherjar It was all kind of misleading I feel. The whole 1 hit kill thing, while aggravating, seemed even more unecessary once I went all Rambo/Arrow on them with the bow and arrows. Boom boom boom raining terror from the skies. And that special "shoot straight" bow was headshots all around. They could have just limited that weapon to that 1 Guardian shrine, the big one was the only 1 I killed with it. Bats in the forrest were the worst, half my game overs went to them.
And while I stopped after the plateau and 2 horse pieces, that neither Epona nor giant horse nor my unmellowed horse could wear, I'm still not sure what's going on. People who have finished it seem satisfied, so I'll withhold a review score until then, but it is far from what I was expecting, a self contained little game. This isn't "Champion's Ballad" yet, just more of the same. Hopefully it improves.
@patch2006uk oh I'm all about the saving. Playing FFVII 20 years ago I'd always have multiple save files just in case, 3, 5, 7. I can't even play games like Pokémon with only 1 save slot, too much anxiety.
And while it is annoying that shrine saves are basically meaningless, I thought they did a really good job with the 4 new ones on the plateau. I think I only died in the Guardian one, and even though we had to go back to the beginning they left the door unlocked and all guardians were dead, so it wasn't like we had to redo the shrine, just a 6 second run through. I think I died at least 6 times in that one. Dark shrine was weak, spiky one was the best, spheres was ok.
I really enjoyed this DLC. The new shrines we're fun (and always have simple, yet brilliant puzzles). The final dungeon was a highlight with some really fun puzzles. I didn't particularly enjoy the one hit kill part, but stealth and ancient arrows won the day. I loved getting to see a bit more of the Champions in the new cutscenes. I also like Kass so getting more interaction with him was fun. The motorcycle is awesome, and getting the Divine Beast powers to recharge in a third of the time now was an amazing bonus I wasn't expecting.
Overall, not quite the story expansion I was expecting, but I did really enjoy it.
@rjejr I got lucky with the keese swarm, shot em with a bomb arrow! 😆
Died 4 times fighting the monsters, several in the giant swinging chains shrine, once in the guardian shrine. Most deaths in DLC so far is me figuring out how to get to a shiny ring to unlock a Daruk shrine, I'd guess near a dozen. Got it eventually though.
@Alikan "keese swarm, shot em with a bomb arrow"
Wish I'd thought of that. It was the first place I went so I mostly ran away from them or stood there and held up my shield. Which surprisingly worked a lot of the time as long as I was holding up the shield facing the direction they were coming from, otherwise I died. Shooting 1 arrow at a flock of keese seemed pointless to me. Though I did start using lighting/electric arrows a lot after that, need to try that next time I see a group of them. though thankfully I'm past that 1 hit kills part now.
When Nintendo announced new dungeons I expected network of interconnected underground catacombs spreading all the way underneath surface.
In reality they just recycled already existing concept.
Honestly if I could get refund for eshop purchase I would considered getting my money back. At least my son loves it.
Why isn't teleporting the horse a main game feature? I don't plan on buying anything, that game was amazing but I finished it a long time ago.
It'd be great if the motorcycle had a skin to look like VROOM in the Night Sky, haven't played the game, but I associate that with Switch's history and it'd fit well in making it look out of place
@rjejr @Alikan Bomb arrow....why that's a....pretty good idea!
I got in the habit early on of running away and drop detonating a bomb rune as the keese swarm got closer. I guess bomb arrow is a biiit more sophisticated of a technique though
@faustcoolio yeah, it’s pretty disappointing especially when billed as “Story DLC”. Uninspired is how I would describe it at a minimum.
@DeltaPeng I use a lot of bombs. A LOT of bombs. I think I made it thru the first 4 or 5 levels of the sword trials climbing up trees and throwing bombs at everyone. But I would never think to throw them at a swarm of fast moving bats. I have a thing against bats all the way back to Vagrant Story. Bats were the hardest enemy for me in that entire game. I've hated flying creatures in games ever since, so I just run away a lot.
@The_Pixel_King You have to have completed all four divine beasts.
I think reading through the comments just saved me $20 and a few hours of my life. Thanks y'all.
I think once I've finished Mario oddesy I should maybe get around to giving Zelda a try
I got my Switch on launch day and I was in a small minority of people who didn't pick up a copy of Zelda at the same time
@ShadJV I didn't say so, read my comment again. I said that they said that they HAD made a wonderful world.
@Gentlegamer Okay.. two more to go! Thanks, buddy 🙂
@BlueOcean I’d still like a source for this comment, I never saw anything of the sort.
yeah I bought this on release and am disappointed. I wont be buying a Nintendo DLC pack until we know whats in them. Severely disappointed and I hope Nintendo sees this feedback/backlash from the fans
I only needed one reason... the sweet Phantom Ganon armor. Link has never looked so badass.
I can't help but feel underwhelmed by this DLC. I was really looking forward to more of the same. Instead Nintendo seem to think DLC is about making things harder (and more annoying). One hit kills and death is pants. We already have trials of the sword and hard mode for those that want a challenge, why make the main DLC like that too?
This is only my second DLC (first was Bloodborne) and it has given me more of a sour taste than urge to buy more in the future...
BotW was amazing, this is underwhelming to say the least.
@faustcoolio I was thinking the same. Am I right in thinking people in the EU can request a refund even if it's a digital purchase?
If so I might do just that as I feel I've wasted my money on this big time...
@rjejr Don't worry, I was annoyed with it long before I ever saw your conment.
I'm nearly finished the Dlc now, there have been parts I've liked and parts I've hated, so just like the main game really!
@Einherjar Well, you can still use stealth equipment.
I don't know why people are having trouble really, the game offers you ton of options. The one hit is still the best option against the silver enemies though. Just make sure the archers are dead first before you engage in close combat.
@datamonkey
My understanding, it is not possible to get your money back from Nintendo eshop purchases in Canada.
I had good experience with MK8 DLC, (actually I'm hoping there would be one more at some point) but Zelda BofW DLC1/2 could have been better. I mean it's still OK but it does not match the game itself, not even new enemies were added.
Watched the video to see if I could be convinced, but it looks like I'll be skipping this. Just like the base game, there seems to be some interesting ideas but there's just not enough actually there to make it worthwhile. The master cycle would've been brilliant if not for the fact that I've already explored and traversed Hyrule. Doing it again on a bike would only be fun for 5 minutes at most.
Hmm...kinda underwhelming for a 20 bucks DLC to be honest, yep I'll be skipping this.
@thesilverbrick you don't get to play as the champions sadly. It's about 6 hours of dungeon and exploration content with a rocky start, but a great end
Havent played it yet, but bought it during summer. Feel a little bit disappointed and ripped off by nintendo when reading the comments. The DLC was advertised as a different story in Hyrule. Last DLC I bought on trust.
@RetroBillyT It is actually better to get the DLC before completing the game. There are a few items that would have been really handy earlier in the game.
@ShadJV I don't bookmark everything I read for future proof but my memory is good, so it's up to you to believe me or not. When they announced the season pass or earlier, Nintendo said that they had made a huge and wonderful world for Breath of the Wild and that they wanted to make the most of it by creating a new story that would take place in the same world. That's why people were expecting a mini campaign and thus are disappointed with DLC2.
The first four reasons were not convincing me, but there is a motorbike in it? ok,.... i'm sold.
But what about the "new adventure"how big is it, can we put 500+ hours in the game again or is it just a +4 hours of botw pleasure?
You should have mentioned it,.. alex.
But it's great to watch your reports/video's, it's fun to watch
Just beat the first boss (Zora), it's HARD and unfair on Master Mode.
Aside from that I'm a bit dissapointed, I thought it would be a follow up to the true ending, but instead it's just extra story. I don't mind extra (background) story, but rather I've got something new.
@brickofthewild I agree, although it adds enough content for $20.
@Saego
Its the disappointment of not getting what you expected. Totally my mistake as nintendo barely explained what its gonna be - so I mistakenly expected something bigger - actually like a whole new story that takes place in botw's hyrule - some new original story content, guess we could argue about semantics here.
In the end its a lesson for me never to fall for these kind of dlc baits. Mario rabbids does the same - they ask you for 20 bucks, deliver some minor content first with a promise of bigger content with more story lateron. And it makes sense you think, they just released the game so it will take some time for them to create something bigger. Or xenoblade with 30 bucks asking price. So I will rather wait and see from now on.
Not really complaining about those 20 bucks - but I believe if I had known what the whole package would be I would have bought it much later - maybe even waited for a discount as I do not consider killer must-have content. And thats my minor gripe with it. Its certainly not the dlc-of-the-year.
@BlueOcean my memory is good too and I don’t remember them promising a single thing this new story doesn’t deliver.
@ShadJV Not as good as you think it is then, more people have said exactly the same thing as me in here, if you don't believe us it's okay, I couldn't care less.
By the way, if you have never heard a certain thing it's impossible that you could remember it, that doesn't mean that that thing wasn't said.
@brickofthewild Although I agree with you again, it is also a good thing what you described. I'm glad they didn't knew what the Season Pass would hold when Zelda launched in March 3. It means they were in very early stages of the DLC and that it is not just content which they held back from release of the game. Same for Mario + Rabbids.
@Waluigi_fan I was just so relieved to finish the 1 hit parts that I haven't even gone back to it since.
I've had the Wii U version of BotW since launch day and did two playthroughs of the game on it. Yesterday, I bought the Explorer's Edition and began my 3rd playthrough.
(And yes, I bought the DLC for both versions. I have a job and can spend my money the way I see fit!)
