I'd be all about this if I was an English bloke.
Where's their NA equivalent offer 😑
Cool, but I'm confused? Do I need to add money to my Nintendo eshop account using Paypal or do I need to spend £20 worth of eshop account funds that where added using Paypal... I'm confused XD
@SkinnyInklingBoy you can just top up your balance and get £5 off. That’s what I did. I’ll put that towards Pokken DX.
Unfortunately there's nothing worth buying at the moment and it seems I couldn't even if I wanted to.
They had a US promotion as well...been getting emails for weeks about it.
Ended 8/31 so I guess it is the UK's turn.
Edited with end date.
This is US to??
I want a free $5 too! Bring this promo to the US! Considering it cost the consumer $0 to use PayPal, this is like a free $5, as long as there's a game you want.
If it was £10 I'd be all over it, as Eshop games on average are £10 more expensive than retail, still better than nothing.
Nintendo joining 2009 at long last.
Nice, cheers for the heads up NintendoLife!
Just added £20 to my account for the price of £15.
@dazzlerJJD How exactly did you do that? I see no option to add funds unless buying a game
Got an email from PayPal for $5 off $50 eShop card last week and ate it up. Don't know if it's still available.
@SLIGEACH_EIRE Buy VOEZ
@Ryu_Niiyama Where? I'm looking through the offers on the US site and am not seeing anything...
UPDATE: Read through the Ts&Cs. It doesn't show the discount on the eShop, but it redeemed the credit in my PayPal, so I only paid £15.
I have added the PayPal offer to my account, and am now trying to purchase £20 eShop credit on my Switch using PayPal.
The final Add Funds screen where I consent doesn't show a £5 discount.
For those who have done it, did it show a discount or did it do it after purchase?
I don't wanna buy the credit and not get the discount.
Wish this was NA too. Oh well.
Lol @SLIGEACH_EIRE.
Always so salty.
@riChchestM click the circle with your Mii/profile picture in the top right of the eshop.
Add funds.
Choose PayPal.
No need to actually buy anything in the eshop.
Just have to have the two linked and you need to “save” the offer to your PayPal account.
Great, Paypal just took £20 instead of £15.
Steps I took:
1) Change locality to UK in Nintendo account
2) Save Paypal deal to Paypal so it shows up in my offers
3) Authorize Nintendo to use Paypal on eShop
4) Add £20 credit in eShop with linked Paypal account
Offer is still in my Paypal account, unused.
I guess you'd have to change Paypal residence as well? Why would it save the offer in my account anyhow?
NOA, being idiots and screwing US users over as per usual.
@FiveDigitLP my bad. The promotion ended at the beginning of this month. But we did get it so the folks ready to burn down NoA need to put down the pitchforks.
@mikegamer we had the same promo last month.
North America had a $5 off $50 promotion, not even close to as good as a deal. Luckily other places had better deals and I got those and have gone mostly digital so far.
Thanks
Damien McFerran shows just how much a dedicated North American Nintendo based site is needed with "UK users only, naturally" comments like that in his titles. It would also kill the traffic to this site that employs such snobby practices such as this.
This is an amazing deal. I'm disappointed there's no NA version of this. :/
@SLIGEACH_EIRE Of course not, the Wii U is a dead console. Switch eshop, on the other hand, has exciting new content every week!
@Tsurii
You get your head outta your own ass if you comply with that damn statement. Like its available to the UK "Naturally" because its just natural that nintendo would cater to the UK like its the best selling region for them and they must not go without exclusive reward... Take that planet earth and kiss our UK asses right? Piss off!!!
All the non-broke English blokes should be stoked
Works in Germany as well.
@Voodoo UK is far from best selling region for Nintendo, but this is a PayPal action, so...
@dazzlerJJD Do you mean on Switch or PC/Mac? On this Mac I click the Mii icon and there's no Add Funds option
@riChchestM on Switch
@setezerocinco Does it? I only see options to add 20 € or 60 €...
great offer! saved it so I can use it! im sure this will be popular.
@Voodoo Like @Tsurii said, the use of the word "naturally" was because the title of this news piece has not one but two "£" signs, which makes it pretty obvious that this is a UK promotion.
And we post deals aimed at US readers all the time; funny how we didn't get any UK users complaining yesterday when we posted the North American My Nintendo rewards.
"Damien McFerran shows just how much a dedicated North American Nintendo based site is needed..."
Last time I checked there were plenty of North American Nintendo sites. You're welcome to use them if you wish.
@gordjscott I just added funds.... via linked paypal.... and its taken full £20 out of my account
there was nothing i wanted to buy... so i added funds
my balance isn't showing as £25 now...
confusion reigns
EDIT - although PayPal said I'd paid £20 to Nintendo when I checked deeper into my PayPal account I'd only been charged £15, whoop whoop!!
Hi there.
Maybe I am being thick lol. I don't have switch, but apparently you can use Paypal on browser version of eshop? But I went to settings, I can see 'shop menu' setting mentioning Paypal. But you can't edit. I guess you can't buy £20 of credit unless you have Switch?
Thanks to anybody who can help!!!
EDIT: I think only you can buy games with Paypal if you don't have enough credit already, and not add funds on eshop via the browser.
Nice, I'll keep this for Lego Worlds on Friday.
Really should link my account then, nice. Does anyone know if it has to be one item over £20 or several that make up to that in one go?
@Damo Looks like nintendoworldreport.com is american based, covers the world and isnt biased towards regions. Something very needed and welcomed indeed.
@Voodoo We cover news from the whole world - Japan, NA and Europe. You've just selectively decided to throw a tantrum in a post aimed at UK residents. Ho hum.
@gordjscott Thanks for the update. I was concerned myself at the checkout.
Still active. Just redeemed it myself. Also had a £5 off voucher for some kind of customer loyalty so only paid £10 for £20 of eshop credit. Guess I'll finally double dip on Fast RMX and get Pokemon Gold next week as well.
It only just came up as a news on my switch just now. And it says it is offered to the first 5000 customers. I didn't see this article last week. Did they do this offer again? I just redeemed it
@123akis
Hi, I've also only just seen the message on my Switch; however I've just tried it and the offer still works (unless I was customer number 5,000!).
You don't need to buy a game, but can just add £20 credit to your account. It comes up as a £20 purchase on your Switch but then Paypal discounts £5 and only charges £15 to your debit/credit card.
I added £20 to my eShop account last night and i was only charged £15, so i would hurry up and get some free credit as this offer runs out soon.
Expired now - all 5,000 taken.
