The Media Create results are in for the Japanese charts, and last week was relatively busy - it's was also another solid seven days for Nintendo.
Every title missed out to The Legend of Heroes: Trails of Cold Steel III on PS4 in first place, but it was a mixed debut for Fire Emblem Warriors; on Switch it secured third place with 41,491 sales, while on New Nintendo 3DS / New 2DS it only shifted 18,357 copies. The combined total is less than Hyrule Warriors managed in its debut week, while Hyrule Warriors Legends shifted 54,479 copies when it arrived in early 2016.
Moving on, Splatoon 2 keeps ticking along while Pokkén Tournament DX had a relatively modest second week. Also of note is FIFA 18; the PS4 version secured second spot, while the Switch iteration (admittedly working with a smaller userbase) only managed less than a quarter of the PS4 sales with 12,616 units. FIFA was given a big push for Switch in Japan; in fact the earliest real footage of the game earlier this year was in a Japanese commercial.
The top 20 is below with lifetime sales in brackets.
- [PS4] The Legend of Heroes: Trails of Cold Steel III (Limited Edition Included) (09/28/17) – 87,261 (New)

- [PS4] Everybody’s Golf (SIE, 08/31/17) – 4,213 (148,645)
Moving on to hardware sales, the Switch saw a healthy boost to increase its already sizeable lead. The New 3DS LL (XL) also saw a small jump, and it was closely followed by the New 2DS LL; results are below with last week's sales in brackets.
- Switch – 73,231 (43,426)
- PlayStation 4 – 22,822 (18,396)
- New 3DS LL – 9,915 (8,726)

- New 3DS – 392 (379)
- Xbox One – 71 (76)
- Wii U – 68 (56)

A solid week for Nintendo all around, with no sign yet of the Switch hardware momentum dropping away.

Great Switch sales, they're greater than everything else combined. FIFA 18 sales on Switch, however, are abysmal. What will EA be saying to themselves? Sayonara Switch? If they do, then EA can partially blame themselves.
Nice to see the Switch doing so well. Looking forward to some MARIO later this month
Going to be all over warriors and Odessey.
It's all about Splatoon 2 over there. Not much else has been getting incredible sales. It remains to be seen how well Mario will do as Japan likes their 2d outings more then 3d.
With so many great AAA Switch games coming up I may have to skip Warriors to save money for others. I probably pick it up when it is nice a cheap as a used game a bit down the line.
Well considering the difference between install bases, 56k FIFA 18 on PS4 vs 12k FIFA 18 on Switch doesn't look that bad to me.
RIP Marvel Vs Capcom infinite.
Great Switch sales. Good boost to software sales as well.
At 12,000 copies sold, FIFA 18 on Switch is already the best selling FIFA game ever on a Nintendo platform in Japan. Sales are comparable to that of FIFA 15 on PS4 (the first FIFA game on PS4), which sold 16,000 copies at launch.
The Switch FIFA numbers are fine and roughly inline with the PS4 when install base is taken into account.
I don’t think the FIFA numbers are that bad, all things considered.
Percentage wise seems like Switch FIFA sold about the same as PS4. I have no idea what EA expects so 12K maybe good or bad news for them.
I'm starting to actually see Switch Stock in stores and online so Nintendo is starting to hit a lull but able to supply enough Switch to satisfy the market......I'm guessing they will be in short supply come November and December though so the stock surplus probably won't last long.
@westman98 Ya, I'd heard that as well. Shocking! You can kind of see why EA are wary of supporting Nintendo.
@SLIGEACH_EIRE Their loss. They'd have to ask themselves why their franchise is failing so miserably on the platform while others are succeeding spectacularly. They're all selling on the same Switch, so they can't blame the Switch for the discrepancy.
The Fifa 18 sales are not that bad for the Switch. I am picking up a copy myself today.
I am really curious about the Switch sales after the release of Mario Odyssey. Hopefully Nintendo has enough consoles in stock by the 27th because I believe the sales will be huge!
Great sales. Don't listen to certain guys that their names start with "SL".
Well FE-W total fail. Hopefully they will give us a real one now. I could care less about this game also. Fifa on switch is a fiasco. Oh well.
Cant wait for Cold Steel 3 to hit the west!!!
The Switch is outselling the XBox One by a factor of 1,000. It makes you think, doesn't it.
@MsJubilee and good riddance. Everyone knows they'll release it with all the DLC a year later so what's the point in buying it now.
The relatively low warriors sales could be due to Switch getting ALOT of games atm
@SLIGEACH_EIRE
FIFA may not really success on Nintendo machines.
But, EA can try their other IP such as The Sims 4 or any new Casual games for Nintendo machines.
If EA still supporting Switch, you should be relieved.
Btw, Hooosha....!!
PS3 on the Bottom ?
Sayonara PS3....
geez this wait for FE Musou is killing me.
@Orologiaio
Switch needs more user install base.
This situation kinda like David (Switch) vs. Goliath (PS4)
Well, seems impossible but I believe Switch can turn the situation completely Upside Down.
Xbox One – 71 (76)
Wii U – 68 (56)
PlayStation 3 – 64 (87)
Well at least Microsoft can say it's current gen console outsold both Sonys' and Nitnedo's last gen consoles in Japan.
@sligeach_eire FIFA 18 on Switch is a gimped port that's missing key features and its attach rate is still better than the attach rate on PS4. If anything, I'd take that as a positive sign for future EA support. Imagine what the attach rate might be if we ever get a fully-featured EA game.
@rjejr
71 was still laughable.
Xbox one = the clown / the cheerleader of Nintendo vs Sony.
@Gerbwmu "Switch Stock in stores and online"
Amazon itself, not 3rd parties, has grey, red&blue and SMO bundle all available.
https://smile.amazon.com/Nintendo-Switch-Super-Mario-Odyssey/dp/B01MUAGZ49/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1507129422&sr=8-1&keywords=switch&th=1
I know some people dont' like Amazon for whatever reason, but for me, if you can order any 1 of 3 different model Switch from Amazon the thing is definitely in stock and I do not consider it to be hard to find at all. If it was hot it would have sold out by now, I noticed all 3 up yesterday, so it's been at least 24 hours. It's not that hard to find. My Target has had them in every time I've been in - once or twice a week - for at least 2 months.
It's available. I think demand dried up in September w/ back to school and that Rabbids game only has so much pull. Mario could change things end of Oct and for the rest of the holiday, but it looks available. I'm starting to regret my $50 Gamestop pre-order for the Mario bundle. Did it for my kids, and I'll keep it, but I'm not happy about it.
@DoctorWily It's close but the attach rate is actually better on PS4. Anyway, I agree that it's a gimped port. I've said it before that gimped ports deserve gimped sales.
what are the numbers in the parenthesis?
FIFA is an interesting litmus test for Switch. I think if anything it should show us who beyond the typical Nintendo crowd cares about this dang thing.
EA has another game FE (not Fire Emblem haha) coming early next year. It looks a bit more like something Nintendo fans might like. @anti-matter this looks like a game I think you'll like a lot
https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=N1tin-oga7c
@DoctorWily I agree, 12k units on switch for a sports game this early in the consoles life cycle is huge.
lol fallout 4 game of the year. i needed the laugh.
@Donutsavant
Um....
Fe was looked so Dark....
Not a fan of Cartoonish Dark theme.
Btw, I found something Brighter and Relaxed, on Switch but not by EA, but by Pathea.
If EA can create games like My Time at Portia (Open World RPG games) with MySims characters + really great gameplay and features, I can play it all day long.
PS4 total sales in Japan is only 5.16 according to VGchartz and Switch install base in Japan is already 1.44 m. Switch should surpass PS4 total sales in couple of years.
Was hoping for something better with Fifa.
Were there any Switch-Fifa bundle? maybe it will sell when there's discount.
You have to take into account that FIFA is a watered down port on Switch.
Wii U comeback cometh!
Well, least FE Warriors isnt launching like a week before Mario.......like everywhere else.
Turns out that the crossover between hardcore strategy gamers and musou beat'em-ups is decent, but not that big. As popular as Fire Emblem is, and as big a lore as it now has, I think this shows it wasn't the most natural choice for a Warriors take. Those numbers look pretty healthy, given that proviso. And no, I'm not saying there should be no crossover - I just think Zelda and even Dragon Quest are more natural fits for arcade treatments.
@memk Total numbers sold (in Japan).
The FIFA sales are not bad at all. FIFA 13 sold less then 2000 on Wii U first week.
EA are practically selling to a new audience with switch. Sales are not amazing but they are not bad either.
We have gone from this people.
[WIU] FIFA 13 <SPT> (Electronic Arts) {2012.12.08} (¥7.300) - 1.510
@JHDK
Fire Emblem games tend to keep a high price since they are all pretty amazing.
@Anti-Matter omg! That's the second time in a row you've recommended a game that looks great! I'll write that one down
FIFA 18 is a great game on Switch. More people should give it a try. This is the first FIFA game I've bought ever. Mainly to support EA, but I'm also liking it a lot and have already logged about 10 hours. Great game in my opinion. I do think EA would have seen better sales if they started by porting Battlefield 4.
@rjejr I think a lot of people had given up looking on Amazon. I looked daily for months and nothing. Luckily an article told me they had them back in and I ordered mine. When others find out they'll probably be gone again. People got tired of seeing $384 for them from third party sellers. Haha
@SoIDecidedTo I like your avatar name, reminds me of back in the 90s why I renamed my C drive to Youdecide on my computer so it always looked like YouDecide:> when I was working in DOS. Which was a lot back in the 90s. It felt a little more empowering after watching Terminator and worrying about Skynet.
I think people who are looking for a Switch will find out it's on Amazon pretty quick. And besides, like I said it's been 24 hours now. It stock was limited at all it would be 2 hours tops. Scalpers work faster than that. So can we at least agree it's no SO in demand that scalpers are buying up every one they can?
Walmart, BestBuy, Gamestop, Target, they all have them, some are in a forced bundles w/ games jst like Nintnedo itself is doing w/ Mario and Spaltoon 2, but you can find them. Here's the Target website, they are available in every Target near me today, just not online. I bet you can find one near you if you have a Target near you.
https://www.target.com/p/nintendo-174-switch-153-with-gray-joy-con-153/-/A-52052007?lnk=fiatsCookie
@rjejr
It's still hot, it's just in supply. People complain about supply when it's sold out, but then when it's in stock conclude demand has dried up...?
Read the listing. Red/blue Switch Is #1 in video game consoles & accessories, not only that but the grey model and Odyssey bundle are all the top 3 consoles sold, above any PS4 or X1. In the entire video games department, Switch is like #5, with Super Mario Odyssey at #2, and all 3 Switch models are the top 3 consoles in video games on Amazon.
It's hot.
@JamesR Japan hates the Xbox One. Look at its lifetime sales there. Abyssal compared to anywhere else in the world.
@SLIGEACH_EIRE 1/5 the PS4 Sales with 1/10 the Install Base is not Abysmal.
@JaxonH "when it's in stock conclude demand has dried up...?"
Scalper demand, yes. Buy it when you see it b/c you may never see it again, yes. That type of hysteria has dried up. I'm sure it's still in demand, it's selling 75k per week in Japan, but the feeding frenzy mentality of buy every one in sight is gone, people are busy w/ other things in September, they'll buy one for the holidays or when Mario releases. I can't be the only person waiting for that Mario bundle.
If you'd like me to commend Nitneod for actually making enough stock of something for a change, ok I'll do it for you. Good job Ntineod finally making enough of an item people actually want. Stock is good. It should be this way.
Zelda's still hanging in there with decent overall numbers for Japan and it seems like a quiet week for the 3DS too...the Xbox One is starting to put up a solid fight against the PS3 and the Wii U, exciting times.
Hmm, many saying fifa sales in Japan ain't bad, Oh yes they are, switch install Base at 2 million ish with only 12 thousand sold = tragedy. You know what the other day many ppl on NL completely dissed the UK market because fifa sold just over 8 thousand, yet it only has a install Base of 300 thousand ish, well as far as i can see it faired alot better in UK than Japan. Ppl try to justify fifa sales in Japan against ps4 sales, well they both did crap. Have to say though the game is gonna flop worldwide on switch with sales, even if it's a decent footy game on the go. FANTASTIC numbers for switch though, it can only get better with mario and the holidays approaching
Switch is the best Ninty console ever!
@MsJubilee whats that?! Lol.
@rjejr
Soon as systems are in supply the scalpers are left holding the hot potato. Good I say.
But yes Nintendo has been doing very well with stock. Plenty of FE Warriors Collector Edition stock, plenty of Xenoblade Chronicles 2 Collector Edition stock, plenty of Xenoblade 2 Pro Controller stock, Switch is in stock before the holiday rush, and even SNES Classic was shockingly supplied on launch day. By next year, they're gonna be sitting on store shelves and people are gonna be talking about how Nintendo produced too many... well, maybe not that last bit, but anyone who actively seeks one out will be able to get one.
@rjejr They've actually been around for quite a while, perhaps a week or two? Which is mind-boggling considering how much Switch stock ran out just a couple months ago, but it's probably due to A) improved Switch stock (yay Nintendo!) and B) restricted to Prime members. Once Odyssey comes out we might see more stock shortages again
I wish Nintendo would kill the 3ds and give us metroid samus returns on switch.
@JaxonH " how Nintendo produced too many... well, maybe not that last bit, "
I hope it doesn't come to that, that would be bad news all around. I'm hoping they have stock when they need need it, Black Friday week - it's not a day anymore, ti's a whole week, and Cyber Monday too. Also hoping for a Nintendo Direct in December so anybody who skipped the Mario bundle will get excited for the Switch games coming out in 2018. Right now 2018 to me looks like 2D Yoshi and 2D Kirby. That's not a lot. Oh and Wolfenstien 2. Need Super Mario Maker 2, SSB4 Deluxe, Pikmin 5 (Hey! Pikmin was 4 at this point) maybe Animal Crossing, seems like it's been 4 or 5 years since a real AC game, not counting amiibo Festival, HHD or Welcome amiibo DLC. Been a real long while since a full AC game on a home console, City Folk on Wii I think. So while 2017 has been great, once XC2 releases we need news of 2018 games. Where the heck is DQ11 on Switch?
So I'd say things are good right now, stock and sales. And hopefully they keep selling,
@shadow-wolf "restricted to Prime members"
Maybe it was, but I didn't see that yesterday or today.
I'm impressed they are making enough Mario Switch bundles that they haven't sold out, they're available everywhere I've looked. I thought that would be a 1 hour sell out. Maybe a few days, but it's been at least 2 weeks. Though it is sold out in Target, so maybe its' starting.
FIFA is not a port and its not "gimped". I say this as a die hard Pro Evo fan
Fifa was a half baked product. Bethesda shows the way on how to support Switch. EA and Capcom should take notice
@rjejr
Yoshi, Kirby Star Allies, Lost Sphear, Dragon Quest Builders, Octopath Traveller, Wolfenstein 2, Fire Emblem and Pokemon (most likely)... the list is starting to take shape at least. But Nintendo themselves will certainly pump out around 10 1st party games next year for Switch. And right now we only know of 4. So there's still half a dozen 2018 1st party titles to look forward to they haven't revealed.
I imagine Smash is one of them, and so is Mario Maker (both updated of course). I also think Pikmin 4 will be a 2018 release (if not then it's vaporware). That leaves 3 complete surprises- one could likely be Animal Crossing. Beyond that, 1 or 2 surprises I have no clue about.
fifa sales aren't that bad on switch compared to ps4 when you consider the install bases of both systems.
@JaxonH "So there's still half a dozen 2018 1st party titles to look forward to they haven't revealed."
Yeah, those.
I'm torn between SMM:Deluxe and SMM 2: The One with Slopes. I figure they can't announce SSBD and SMMD at the same time, so 1 will have to be new, and since I don't expect another new SSB for a few more years, that leaves SMM2. So it will kind of be like when MK8D and Splatoon 2 released close together in the spring.
"Beyond that, 1 or 2 surprises"
Like... Beyond Good and Evil 2? Sorry, couldn't resist.
PSX is in Dec, PS4 already has NNK2, Spiderman, GoW, Days Gone, Detroit, maybe TLoU2 and KH3, all for next year, I can't imagine what else new they could possibly announce, though they said they had new game announcements for PGS.
http://www.pushsquare.com/news/2017/10/sony_pledges_big_ps4_reveals_for_paris_games_week#reply
I dont care Fifa 18 still a great game on switch. A fifa game which i can play anywhere with decent graphics. Lets face it any nintendo port will always look "gimped" to some people but lets face it the hardware is built around being a hybrid console. Yes its always going to be lower graphics or lower fps etc cause its not a pure bred home console. Go buy a ps4! But yes you can take it anywhere or when your wife or kids want to use the main tv. Or squeeze few minute between breaks or multi tasking busy schedule.
Nintendo sold 745,000 Switches in Japan during Q3 2017. Expect NIntendo to report Japanese Switch shipments of ~800,000 units for the quarter.
@EDF FIFA has never been a big seller in Japan. Its steadily growing it's audience on PS4 and hopefully will do the same on switch. Anyone who looks @ the numbers and just says rubbish has not bothered to even look at its historical data.
Seriously the last FIFA on a Nintendo home console sold under 2000 in its first week.
EA are making progress in Japan while konami are seeing PES sales decrease.
It's no surprise that FIFA didn't do too well over here. This is Japan, football is not as popular as it is in Europe. I don't think EA is expecting otherwise in Japan.
Besides, apart from cultural differences, EA shot themselves in their foot by, yet again, making a lesser game. I applaud their effort and all, but it wasn't enough. When comparing with the other consoles, same graphics aren't too important, but feature parity definitely is.
@maruse
Indeed.
Football is not popular sport in Japan.
Japanese people loves Baseball (Yakyu) & that's why we see that sport so oftenly even on Anime.
Directly comparing the PS4 and Switch sales of Fifa doesn't really make sense. Even though the Switch is selling really well right now, the install base of the PS4 is MUCH large still.
@SLIGEACH_EIRE Partially? They have ONLY themselves to blame.
Actually, based on your numbers the Switch sales are better than Hyrule Warriors debut week...
Switch (41,491), 2DS/3DS (18,357)
41,491 + 18,357 = 59,848
Per the article, Hyrule Warriors Legends shifted 54,479
So the FE Warriors sold about +10% better
I’d love to see a NSW version of S&M.
@kobashi100
Regardless if it's popular in Japan, they are still crap numbers. Nintendo ain't that popular in UK compared to Sony but they were still crap numbers for fifa, can't use that as a excuse for poor sales and yes I follow sales data. Excuses excuses just cause a game is flopping, it's the old chestnut again, sales figures don't lie regardless if said game is popular or not, don't matter if EA are making headway, sales are still bad, simple as that really
@NicolausCamp Not true. Nintendo are to blame as well.
Those numbers are not bad, I will be picking up FIFA on Switch soon, I really want to play FUT.
A bit depressing to see people complaining about FIFA being a 'gimped port'. Every port on Switch will be gimped compared to PS4, PC and XB1 (except FIFA, ironically, isn't a port).
If that's the excuse for not buying them no third-party games will sell. Which is fine, just don't then complain when third-party support disappears.
@SanderEvers
I had a couple of flights yesterday, played 3 hours of FIFA. 60fps, silky smooth, great A.I.
Not once did it think about what engine it was on because I was busy, you know, playing the game. Maybe I'm old fashioned.
@Krull I've been play FEW for a week now and it is pretty amazing. Still a lot of strategies going on while you are slashing and smashing. If you only care about your own player unit instead of taking care of everyone on your team, you will definitely have a hard time. I felt like it's a great blend b/w Fire Emblem and Warrior. Not to mention you can also choose classic mode and casual mode, where in classic mode fallen units don't revive, just like in all those classic FE games!
@Anti-Matter Thanks for this, I've just backed my first ever Kickstarter project! Looks like a mashup of Fantasy Life, Animal Crossing and Rune Factory, right up my alley. Gonna have to wait, since the console version I backed won't be out til next summer at the earliest (I couldn't afford to back the Steam + Console version) but it'll hopefully be a nice surprise when it arrives. And I'll have Stardew Valley to keep me going in the meantime.
Have to admit I like the looks of Fe as well (I don't mind dark games sometimes) but I can see where you're coming from.
@rjejr Whils't Wii U is now Nintendo's last gen console, it's the same gen as Xbox One as PS4, so... Gen's are clearly starting to break up, given Pro and X, so we'll see if this trend keeps up, but soon I feel it will be impossible to # consoles in any generation.
Look everybody,
Do not go off of sales in Japan or UK with FIFA 2018. Fifa has a huge north American fan base. Those numbers hasn't been counted yet. The switch will do fine, especially in North America. Do not become so negative because of how games do in certain countries.
@electrolite77 but yeah think how much more enjoyable those flights would have been, knowing the Frostbite engine was in there...
@SLIGEACH_EIRE I don't agree with you at all saying that Nintendo Switch FIFA is abysmal. There is a much larger install base with PS4 and Xbox compared to the Switch. There are 4.7 million Switches sold worldwide compared to close to 69 million PS4s. In Japan, 1.5 million switches have been sold, while there has been 4.7 million PS4 sold. In the first week, 55,919 PS4 FIFA 18s were sold, or approx 0.01%. By comparison, 12,616 Switch FIFA 18s were sold, or approx 0.01%.
I don't think the Switch is doing badly at all on this game, considering it's an 'inferior' version feature wise.

@derrin I've just been over the attach rate in another thread, your calculations are wrong. FIFA 18 NSW has an attach rate of .83% in Japan. That's dreadful.
@rjejr Huh you're right! It definitely was restricted to Prime members a couple of days ago, but now it's not. Maybe they weren't selling much for Prime-only so they allowed everyone to get it. So it's definitely easy to obtain a Switch for now
@SLIGEACH_EIRE Which part of my calculations? I provided my sources for the numbers I used. Do you have more accurate numbers? By all means provide them!
@derrin Your numbers are fine, it's just your maths that I think is wrong.
@SanderEvers
If you have a switch and like footy, then it shouldn't matter if it's on frostbite, you should have bought it already. Don't matter if modes are missing and all that no friends online shenanigans, it's fifa, it's the beautiful game of football and apparently it's a great game. If i owned a switch i would buy it, speak to electrolite77 he will give you all the info you need to know whilst you sit on the fence. Yep sales are bad but that doesn't mean it's a bad game, now go buy it already and enjoy the beautiful game of football
@SLIGEACH_EIRE Well I think there are different kinds of calculations. You mentioned attach rates... I haven't seen those, but those might be the percentage of people who buy a Switch and pick up FIFA at the same time?
My calculation was simply how many people own each system and what percentage of people bought it.
@WiltonRoots
I don't get the obsession with things like engines. But then I don't get a lot of things modern gamers are into. I feel old sometimes.
@electrolite77 Yep at the end of the day it's just a toolkit. You can have the best tools in the world at your disposal but if you're a bad workman....
@Grawlog "BGE2 isn't ruled out for Switch, is it?"
I can see BG&E2 coming to Switch, as long as, you know, it actually comes to any system. Do you remember the trailer 9 years ago in 2008?
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vkCXE1l5MVI
And the leaked trailer 7 years ago in 2010?
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wVwTrjwautQ
So sure, on the Switch.
@RoomB31 "impossible to # consoles in any generation."
But we're up to gen 9, why stop now?
I don't think Pro and X will mess anything up, they're both mid-gen improvements just like New 3DS, and they probably won't extend the lives of their respective systems so we'll still get PS5 and Xbox Eleven in 2 or 3 more years. And Switch will get Switch Lite, New Switch, Switch Portable and Switch TV before a true Switch 2 successor launches in 6 or 7 years.
So having gen consoles may not make any sense, but people on Wiki are sure to keep doing it here.

@shadow-wolf "So it's definitely easy to obtain a Switch for now"
I think once we get closer to Mario's release on the 27th Switch could get a bit more scarce. Most places are still taking pre-orders for the Mario bundle which annoys me no end as I already paid Gamestop $50 for it, I'm not used to pre-ordering stuff, thought this would sell out, would rather get it anywhere besides GS.
Also could be hard to find Thanksgiving week, though who knows, maybe Nintedo is making enough.
@rjejr Yeah it's definitely something to look at. Though why don't you cancel at GameStop and then buy elsewhere? I know Best Buy rewards people for buying stuff with points, I bought my Wii U and I got enough points to get 5 or 10 dollars off Smash I think.
@rjejr Thanks for the story about your hard drive. I came up with the name because I many many years ago I wanted to have a tv series called "So I Decided To..." where I would do a different job each week. I still have that dream one day.
That's awesome they are everywhere now. I agree that a lot of people will know, but a lot of us wouldn't. I had given up looking on Amazon, when one of the daily deals sites I go to said they were back in stock.
Then, a week later I find out about the Splatoon bundle being in stock at Walmart, so I bought that for my wife. I was actually looking for the Splatoon joycons. I don't know how I missed it, but I didn't know that the US was getting the Splatoon bundle. And I like to think of myself as rather knowledgeable. I was actually upset we weren't getting it since that was my main reason for wanting a switch.
So I'm just looking at it from my perspective, I've wanted a switch since the day they came out, and it took me until October to get one. So I'm pretty sure there were others in my camp that wanted one badly, but have just gotten tired of never seeing them. I have no idea what percentage of the marketplace we would be, but I know there are others like me because I told a friend that I got them, and they were like, WHERE DID YOU FIND THEM?
But, I'll admit I'm wrong as well. I tweeted about a month ago that if Amazon got 1 million switch in, they would sell in a day. Apparently I'm wrong. I think if they ever show up on Amazon's landing page they'll disappear though. They are out of the neon Switch right now, but still have the gray.
@SoIDecidedTo I think you're TV show has probably been done by now, there isn't much reality tv hasn't done. Does remind me of another funny story - Back in college there was this big funny guy who always used to say "I'ma change my name to..." in some funky urbanesque Fat Albert accent. Even had it printed on a t-shirt he used to wear around campus. Anyway he would always say it after an attractive woman would say something involving being on top of some object, like riding a bike or taking a nap on a couch. So - "I'ma change my name to couch." It was pretty funny at the time as he was perceived as harmless. Probably be kicked off campus for sexual harassment today but things were different in the 80's.
Anyway, Swtich sales have seemed to cool off. Or Ntineod is just making enough, depends on who you ask. They sell every one they can make in Japan. Personally I think the US scalpers have moved onto SNES Mini, hence the Switch that are available online and in stores now. My Target got 24 in Friday morning, had 4 by afternoon, sold 2 while I was there playing Mario on the Switch for a minute. That Target always has Switch in stock, but it's in a poor neighborhood which may have something to do with it. Was nice to see it get the playable demo kiosk though.
Switch will be a hard to find item this holiday once blood gets in the water and the US retail market goes into feeding frenzy mode in mid-November. Maybe even once Mario releases next Friday. But it will be easier to find than a SNES Mini, for whatever that's worth.
@shadow-wolf "why don't you cancel at GameStop and then buy elsewhere?"
B/c I have an Xbox 1 to trade in to help pay for the switch, and the Best Buy's in NY dont' accept trade-ins, it's a state law or something, and I'm too lazy to sell it on eBay or trade it in to Amazon. Plus I have a Gamestop credit card which I'm hoping will give me 6 months to pay it off though I haven't seen them offer that yet this year, may be a holiday only deal. After my trade-in and $50 down I only owe about $250 anyway, so that's manageable if need be.
Though I'm still keeping my options open.
@rjejr That makes sense, good luck!
@shadow-wolf Thanks. Traded in the X1 this morning for $110, just had them add it in to my $50 pre-order so it's $160 paid toward the Mario Switch bundle all in 1 place. So unless somebody else offers a great deal on the bundle it's a done deal at Gsmestop, I can manage the remaining $240 or so.
@rjejr Nice. Surprised that X1 is so low, I think Wii U on eBay is worth more than X1 is at GameStop and about the same as X1 on eBay. Though that's probably cause of the multiple versions of X1 they released. Did you sell a regular version or an S to GameStop?
@shadow-wolf Original fat X1. Luckily it had a 1TB HDD otherwise it would have been only $95 instead of $110. I guess it seemed like a lot to me since I only paid $175 for it, and it came w/ a bunch of games I still have - Rare Replay, Gears of War Remastered and Ori as a download, should I ever buy another X1. I now owe $219.99 for my $379.99 Switch so that will feel a little better Friday as well only paying about $245 rather than $415. Then I'll be listening to One Up Superstar for weeks on end.
@rjejr Nice! Have fun with Odyssey!
@rjejr Is there any way to be "Friends" on here? You seem like a really cool dude. Your friend was funny. That's what amazes me, things that used to be funny, are now deemed way too offensive. I did stand up comedy for a while, but quit around 2012-2013. I could see people's tastes changing, and people were at the beginnings of being afraid to laugh.
Thanks for sharing your stories. Not as great, but in college me and my three roomies named each of our rooms something else. So my room was "The Bar", my Roommate Lynn's was "The Library", my roommate Andrew's was "Mendenhall" (our student center), and can't remember the other one's. But that way we could say, "I'm at the bar" without lying. Each of our doors was decorated with things they were named after.
@SoIDecidedTo No, no "Friends" list on NL. And even the little heart button isn't connected to anything. Well I take that back, somewhere in the back office at NL HQ they record the hearts, they just haven't decided what to do w/ them yet. (I asked when they started, thats' what I was told.) I heart people on occasion, but I've never gone back to see how many hearts any of my posts have. And really, having hearts w/o the opposite, whatever the opposite of heart is, broken-heart?, doesn't mean much. I suppose Ignore, but that's a the drastic nuclear measure, I've never used that, no matter how bad an argument gets, eventually I just stop replying. I have over 500 un-read emails in my in-box, most of them from NL arguments I got bored with. I suppose that's the cowards way out, so be it.
I read yours, you can take that as being on my Friend list if you want. Wow, that's like the lamest thing I've ever written, straight out of My Little Pony. Anyway, you know what I meant. I think most of the friendships on here form in the forums, people get all kinds of conversations going in there. I avoid it in there, I spend enough time on NL as it is, and my inbox is getting full.
I went to a commuter college, my 4 years weren't' that exciting, we just hung out in the bar, Rathskellar. Age was 18 back then. My kid starts in 2020, we're trying to convince him to go live on campus and live a little.
@rjejr I do not venture to the forums as well. Then I would NEVER get any work done. Pleasure meeting you on here, and thanks for sharing your slices of life.
@SoIDecidedTo Getting me to share is easy, getting me to be concise about it, not so much.
