@Zenszulu Plok would be great! Such a weird game. My biggest complaint about it was no save or password system, which would be fixed if it came to NSO.
I'll have to try this one out. I, too, am pining for the first Joe & Mac game, however.
Disappointed to see Kirby 64 so low, as that's probably my favorite one. Kirby Super Star Ultra is my second favorite, so that was spot on for me. (Still need to play Planet Robobot, though.)
On another note, there are a lot of Kirby games I haven't even heard of, which was surprising.
@TheWingedAvenger My impression of the game came from playing it, not some random YouTuber. I picked up the game at the recommendation of a GameStop employee at the time. That was the only opinion outside of my own that I had heard. As others have already pointed it out, I won't go into your reductionist view of Skyrim.
I had totally forgotten about this game, but I did play quite a bit of it in the 360 era. It's kind of a poor man's Skyrim, albeit exclusively in 3rd person. Worth it if you crave that sort of thing.
@GamingFan4Lyf I was stuck on Ornstein and Smough for such a long time. I don't think I've ever attempted a boss so many times before or since. I loved playing Dark Souls, but not that part.
@Bizaster I would have to disagree with you on Bug Tales. I beat the game and it was good, but the new Paper Mario game has been more enjoyable for me with excellent writing and interesting locales. Everyone gets hung up on the battles, but that's just one part of the Paper Mario package. As a whole, it's still solid. Back to Bug Tales, I liked the characters and story, but the environments were pretty ugly overall. Ironically, I also got tired of the classic Paper Mario battle style and having to grind for healing items before each mission (I played on hard mode).
From what I've tried, Horace and Knights and Bikes exceeded my expectations, Bug Fables and Levelhead met my expectations, and Dungreed was too basic and a little boring, with Rogue Legacy (and Dead Cells, to a degree) having bested its formula years ago.
I can really only speak to Wuppo from this list. Awesome, funny game with great world building. I originally bought it a few years back because it was one of the highest ever rated games on Steam, iirc.
Happy to see Secret of Evermore make the cut. Such a unique game that plays with the style of Secret of Mana, but has its own character and world building. The soundtrack is great as well, being composed by Jeremy Soule of Skyrim fame (despite recent controversy). It's in my personal top 5 SNES games.
@Andy_Witmyer Yes, every one of these lists are determined by NL user ratings and the rankings change as the average ratings change. Too few seem to ever catch on to this.
Minecraft, any of the Iga Castlevania games, Final Fantasy VII, VIII, or IX, Banjo Kazooie or Tooie...I go back to Secret of Evermore on the SNES every couple of years. Love the soundtrack. Same with Chrono Cross.
After purchasing it a bit after launch, I played it about once a week for about a month and a half. Haven't played it since (but I should again). My wife, on the other hand, played it every day for a good 4 or 5 months. She's stopped since, too, however.
Having started it the other day, I can see where NL is coming from. But I would also agree with many others in the comments that there is a charm and esthetic to the game (probably driven largely by nostalgia, however). This is probably why I would give it a 4 or a 5. I also don't like short games, generally, so bear that in mind as well.
@the_beaver I'm also weirded out by those who prefer 3D Land to 3D World. The former feels like a tech demo with a mod podge of (admittedly good) levels stuck together. 3D World is a more cohesive unit with thematic levels and a lot more personality. It is way better than 3D Land because there's a lot more to it, in my opinion.
@NotTelevision I don't think NL has reported on it yet, but I just read an article that said there's evidence in the coding of the Super Mario 3D All-Stars collection that the N64 games potential real-life spoiler if you're not into leaks Kirby 64, Mario Golf, Paper Mario, Mario Tennis, Perfect Dark, and Pokemon Snap were tested on the in-house emulator.
No guarantee, of course, but the possibility is there.
Honestly? I've really been enjoying Origami King. And after playing through Bug Tales right before, I realized that I'm tired of the old system. Count me on team Tanabe.
This game is a 9 for me so far. I'm probably about 10 hours in. The writing is beautiful and I really care about and am interested in the characters. I haven't seen any of these glitches that people are mentioning, either. Still much to see, however.
Sticker Star isn't a bad game. It's not a great game, either--but it is good. Super Paper Mario demonstrated Nintendo's intention to diversify the Paper Mario brand, and they've continued to do so ever since. SS is simply a victim of expectations versus reality, and would certainly have fared better were it branded differently.
@BLAZINOAH I disagree. Innocent until proven guilty is important in the court systems because being convicted of a crime has huge ramifications. When it comes to public opinion, we have every right to believe victims if we have good reason to do so, just as sponsors have every right to withdraw from accused abusers even if they haven't been brought to court.
I will agree, however, that we should never go so far as to take the law into our own hands or harass the accused, for instance.
When I first heard the concept, I thought it was possible for it to be good. But this looks totally drab with no attention to detail. Yet another cash-grab by Natsume.
@Old_Man_Nintendo No need to be so unpleasant. I read your comment before watching the video, and it ended up looking decent enough to me. Not worthy of your vitriol, for sure.

Re: Charles Martinet Would Love To Voice Mario In Upcoming Illumination Movie
If they don't use him as the main voice, they should have him do at least something in the film as a nod to the series.

Re: Random: Brie Larson Doesn't Want To Be The Clown Villager From Animal Crossing
@Brutchie-bear Haha, good point. Plot twist: maybe Bizaster is Brie Larson!
Re: Super Mario 3D World Trailer Shows Off Two Minutes Of Bowser's Fury Gameplay
@sixrings Many of them are, but not quite the whole game. (I had actually forgotten this, so thanks for the reminder! )
Re: Super Mario 3D World Trailer Shows Off Two Minutes Of Bowser's Fury Gameplay
@sixrings My vote would go to Rayman Legends, but Rayman Origins beats both of them. That's a game I wish would get ported.
Re: Super Mario 3D World Trailer Shows Off Two Minutes Of Bowser's Fury Gameplay
Looks fun, but unless Bowser's Fury is fairly long, I can't see myself double dipping for this one. Maybe a GameFly rental.

Re: Feature: Nintendo Life's Switch Game Of The Year 2020
This list is missing my favorite game of 2020: Spiritfarer. Otherwise, happy to see Paper Mario on here, as it really is a great game.
Re: Nintendo Expands Its Switch Online SNES And NES Service With Five More Titles
@SMW Agreed. I've always found it to be the most fun of the three. Still, I can understand why 2 is considered to be best on an objective level.

Re: Poll: Box Art Brawl #68 - Super Mario World
I do like the Japanese version, but I'm just feeling the chillness of the NA version right now. (That, and LOT of nostalgia influenced my choice.)

Re: Sakuna: Of Rice And Ruin Gets Some Updates - Expanded End Game Content, Improved Stability And More
Is NL going to review this?
Re: Poll: Box Art Brawl: Duel #67 - F-Zero
They're both bad, but at least the western one didn't have the awkwardly placed heads.

Love FFIX. (Wish Zidane wasn't such a perv, though.) Don't know if I love the angle of the graphic they chose.

After purchasing it a bit after launch, I played it about once a week for about a month and a half. Haven't played it since (but I should again). My wife, on the other hand, played it every day for a good 4 or 5 months. She's stopped since, too, however.

@Zidentia Ah, this is known as a parasocial breakup in my field. Condolences. (But trolling Alex won't make things better, either.)
Re: Feature: Best Nintendo 64 Games
Missing 2 from my top 5: Jet Force Gemini and Road Rash 64.

Re: Treat Yourself To Some New Switch Games In The Annapurna Interactive Publisher Sale
@sketchturner I disagree. I found Ashen to be a great game. Not quite DS tier, of course, but definitely a worthy indie effort.
Edit: Although I will say that $20 is the right price point for this game.
Re: Random: World Of Tanks Dev Would "Love" To Do An Advance Wars Collab
I would just like the Advance Wars team to collaborate with themselves at this point.
