@oceano Definitely plenty of -vanias to go around (although few really capture the same feel, which makes this particular one stand out). The only Metroid-likes I can think of are A Robot Named Fight and Xeodrifter.
@Excalibur_120 From what I can find online, the Hell Temple was only excluded from the Wii version due to file size limitations. It was, however, offered as a DLC, so I would think it would be included here. (I can't find a definitive answer to your question anywhere, though.)
@JayJ I wouldn't say they messed up with the difficulty here, but rather that the game demands your time and consideration to a greater depth than most others (think Fez, for example). It was a calculated decision by the developer, and this game isn't intended to be accessible to everyone. I personally liked this, even as someone who's average at best with puzzles. But I don't blame anyone for not finding the idea of this game appealing. Unlike Hollow Knight, I don't know that I would recommend this to just anyone, even if it is in my top 5 games of all time.
For those afraid of jumping into the game due to the cryptic puzzles, in addition to guides not being detrimental to the experience as I mentioned before, most of the puzzles have some connection to the game's lore as well. So they're not all pointless hurdles, and they do build the story and the world.
With this game, I just had to swallow my pride and consult a guide frequently. Personally, this didn't cheapen the experience, and I still thoroughly enjoyed myself. One of my favorite gaming experiences in recent memory, in fact.
I know it won't happen, but I'm hoping they'll just say that the game is available digitally right away at the end of the direct. That preloaded icon is taunting me...
@Aaron09 All 3 are excellent games. My personal favorite is Hollow Knight, which I would recommend if you like metroidvanias and a fair amount of challenge. I enjoyed all of the Shovel Knight games, though I did get a bit tired of the same locales by the end. And Dead Cells also follows the metroidvania style, but applies the roguelike formula to it (my least favorite aspect, personally). I preferred Sundered (another recommendation) to Dead Cells due to a more concrete progression system, but that's my personal preference.
Objectively, New Leaf deserves the number 1 spot. Subjectively, it goes to the first game. Nothing can quite beat the first time experience with a series.
They're all pretty bad, but the European one is nauseatingly cluttered. I went with Japan, although Link's expression in the American one is probably my favorite detail out of all of them.
@adam9431 As someone who couldn't get too far into the other games before getting bored, I liked Black Flag quite a bit. That's no guarantee for you, of course, but just my 2 cents.
Here's the thing: I could get this game for almost nothing, but I would still be wasting my time on a sub-par game. This may come down to a lifestyle choice, but if I've legitimately run out of quality games to play, I should probably go do something else--not play worse games.
La Mulana was one of my most enjoyable gaming experiences in recent memory, even if I was glued to a guide. I hardly ever buy limited editions of games, but I will for this.

@AnnoyingFrenzy This one shouldn't be at risk of being watered down since the main game already exists.

Why is that bird's name Sparrowson when it's clearly a starling?
...nomenclature aside, this is part of my Steam backlog, so I'll have to go give it another look.

Not gonna lie, this game is a bit boring to me. Not quite as packed with content as I had hoped.

@frabbit Having played it, it is grainy. (Dithering being the precise term, I've learned.) It's very noticeable to me.

@HeroponRiki Isn't the whole point of Humble Bundle to donate a portion of your purchase to charity? The discounts and bundles are just a nice bonus.
