Other than the newly announced, Pikmin 3 Deluxe, we really don't know a whole lot about the first party Switch lineup for the remainder of the year. Bravely Default II is supposed to rear its head at some point (but we suppose it could be Defaulting a few turns to swing harder later.) Thankfully though, plenty of third-party developers and publishers are covering for Nintendo's lack of upcoming titles.
Nexomon: Extinction, a brand new RPG set in the style of the original Pokémon games, No Straight Roads, a rhythmic action-adventure starring an indie rock band set to take on the world of EDM, and Windbound, the spiritual spawn of Breath of the Wild and Wind Waker are just a few of the games joining the Switch library this month.
Drink More Glurp - August 6th
Boomerang Fu - August 13th
Darkestville Castle - August 13th
PGA TOUR 2K21 - August 21st (eShop)
Samurai Jack: Battle Through Time - August 21st
No Straight Roads - August 25th
FINAL FANTASY CRYSTAL CHRONICLES Remastered Edition - August 27th
Moon - August 27th
Captain Tsubasa: Rise of New Champions - August 28th
Jump Force Deluxe Edition - August 28th
Nexomon: Extinction - August 28th
Windbound - August 28th
If you could only play three new release from this month, which would you choose? Be sure to let us know down below!

Although I'm bummed about no couch coop and physical release, I'll be picking up FF: Crystal Chronicles.
Jump force! I so wanted that game on switch.
Cant wait.
Can't hardly wait for PGA Tour.
Looks like I’ll be saving some money this month.
Moon is the only one I'm looking forward to this month.
There's two or three that I might consider on this list but nothing that stands out as a must buy. I'm sure I'll grab at least a couple of eShop releases throughout the month though.
Oof. Good time to save money and catch up on my backlog.
P*ss poor selection besides FF: Crystal Chronicles
I'll probably get the Jump Force DX game.
I will need reviews for any of the other releases before considering a purchase though there appear to be some fairly interesting Indies in there.
Pretty tame month really.
How much is FFCC going to be?
Nothing i find remotely exciting but it is what it is
(See the August list above)
Nope.
Nothing interesting from those titles above.
I already got my The Sims 4 Island Living PS4, Autobahn Police Simulator 2 PS4, Tornado Outbreak PS3 and Moving Out Switch as my August Shopping time. Still waiting London 2012 PS3 arrived in Surabaya from Ebay.
My PS3 games library collection growth very fast. I have collected 18 PS3 games since December 2019. During Covid19 pandemic, used PS3 games are my lifesaver so that's my focus on this year.
ACNH is my lifesaver too as i got into the game everyday.
@Drommajin Everything I've read says that only Japan is getting a physical release. There is a placeholder page on Amazon for the Switch version but it is still just a placeholder.
Windbound is the only one I'm really curious about.
@NintendoByNature The ps4 version is $30 US, so I'm guessing the Switch version will be the same.
@Kanbei nice..about where I expected
@DockEllisD yeah I would definitely pick up a multilanguage physical copy if it wasnt too expensive.
Wind bound looks interesting. It's like a mix between BotW and Wind Waker.
There's that one SRPG that's coming at the 12th that is of interest to me but nothing else really stands out as worthwhile to me.
No Straight Roads looks fun. Maybe Moon.
No straight roads, FF crystal chronicles and windbound for me
@Kanbei Do you have a source for the $30.00 price point? I'm having a hard time finding anything about it online for some reason.
EDIT: Sorry, about 2 minutes later I found it. Thanks!
I'm excited for Windbound but that 8/28 release date has been announced for a long time now, yet it's still not on the eshop available for pre-purchase.
Looks like a bunch of crap
I'm actually pretty happy with this month's offerings. It's been a while.
What a Rough month 🤢.
People here are really sleeping on Moon.
Moon looks cool and unique, got my eye on that one and FF Chronicles. No Straight Road looks promising.
Crystal Chronicles was a day one purchase for me, but now not being able to do couch co-op killed it for me.
repeatedly slams the big red button labeled "Nintendo Direct"
Nothing's happening!!! Quick, someone ask Reggie to press it, maybe it'll work!
But I am going to be keeping an eye on that Samurai Jack game. Maybe this one will rise to the occasion?
Samurai Jack is a must for me. Wind will be a definite if it reviews well enough. And maybe nexomon again if it reviews well.
Samurai Jack looks wonderful, and Windbound has my interest
Knowing Square Enix, Crystal Chronicles will be in a sale within the next few months, so I'll pick that up then. Otherwise, nothing of interest to me this month.
Oh man. It’s nothing!
Windbound and Final Fantasy CC for me.
What @sanderev said.
@aznable Are my eyes playing tricks on me, or did your picture change, by removing the other character?
@DockEllisD Wait, I thought the Switch automatically changes the language to your native version? Did I miss something? Hm.
Jump Force for me this month, I guess.
No Hotshot Racing?! I’m wondering if this game will ever get released.
@Eh-Red Same. And MLB The Show 21 next year.
@DockEllisD Good to know, I will import from time to time but I guess I've been getting titles that don't have that issue. Thank you for the heads up!
Moon is definitely on my radar.
Crystal Chronicles isn't getting a physical? No local multiplayer? Japanese physical doesn't even have English subtitles? I'm just one customer, but that's a no from me.
The rest of this year is turning into Sakuna, Shiren the Wanderer, and Ryza 2. Pre-ordered Sakuna's Divine edition, and waiting on the other two. Contemplating Paper Mario.
Already passed on Xenoblade DE; something about the gameplay loop and real-time combat from the entire Xenoblade series doesn't gel well with me. The neon sci-fi aesthetic also isn't my favorite game setting. Admitting this is forever disappointing for me, because I still appreciate Monolithsoft and want to support them with my wallet somehow.
Waiting on an update for Bravely Default 2. Fingers crossed they overhaul the visuals after all the feedback, leaning more on 2D than 3D, because all the increased 3D elements, including the new character models, just didn't feel right compared to the 3DS entries. Combat also wasn't focused enough, and the menu system seemed odd and cluttered. Everything about the jump from 3DS to Switch feels off for Bravely Default 2. I'm really, really hoping the final product is great. Because otherwise the marketing for Bravely Default 2 will only make me want to finally buy Octopath Traveler, with its more focused visual direction and more faithful old-school mechanics.
Can't wait to pick up Boomerang Fu, looks like a great time for local multiplayer. Will wait for NL to drop that review first though. So yeah. Guess I can wait
I’ll probably pick up Jump Force & Nexomon. I’ll have to look into Windbound more. Looks interesting.
I might give Windbound a try if the weapons are indestructible.
Really good video. I didn't know about some of those at all. The music one Zion recommended most highly really does sound pretty awesome. I hope it is! The Windbound sailing Breath of the Wild Wind Waker has really got me pumped. I really really hope it actually is fun to sail around and explore islands in the game!
Also, these party games need to all have online modes. I only call friends and play online now with Covid 19 threatening everyone around me. I wish Nintendo would add online play to Pikmin 3 Deluxe.
The one game that piqued my interest, you dismissed within seconds - My Universe, My Baby. It sounded like perfection for my five year old daughter, so I was disappointed not to see more
@TG16_IS_BAE other character? It’s Beeker Bowie. Always has been.
Why Faeria no make list?
Ah yes, when I think of 'exciting games,' Drink More Glurp is exactly what comes to mind.
Only Captain Tsubasa. If as big of a train wreck as Fairy Tail, my Switch is going back into the drawer after I finish Paper Mario.
Tag team with Shadow PC, until something big gets announced on Switch.
@Agramonte common drawer is harsh, but it can stay perfectly well sitting in its dock. Apparently that’s where it will be most of the year 😔
I'm interested in Nexomon and Boomerang Fu. That anime football game could be cool, too.
Another month with nothing interesting...
@Casco Do you keep it on the dock even if you not using it for a long time?
Was not sure if something I should do (bad for the battery or something). I was unplugging the stand (also made a makeshift vent dust cover) but now I place it in my case and put it away if not using it for 30 days or more.
@Agramonte lol now you made me think. Definitely drawer is better for preservation. I never leave it on the dock knowingly thinking I won’t use it for a long time. It just happens
Lucky the Switch has third-party support. Nintendo isn’t delivering these months...
Exciting? Moving along....
Samurai Jack!
I'm also getting Jump Force. I liked it enough on Xbox, and I don't feel it deserves all the hate it gets
What's going to be the really big game that nintendo releases this holiday season ? Maybe zelda breath of the wild 2, or a new mario odyssey sequel, or a new Donkey kong 64 sequel. Or a new wario land sequel maybe even a new kid icarus
Just Moon for me, personally.
