Have you played every single Switch game in existence? Of course not! Do you know who has, though? Our very lovely senior video producer Alex Olney. Oh, wait, no he hasn't...but that's not stopped him from putting together this list of games you've "probably" never heard of (part 2).
If you're wondering about the first part, you can go and watch it over on the Nintendo Life YouTube channel. As for the second video, if you don't have time to spend just over 10 minutes with Alex, we've decided to make his selections public here on the main site. So without further ado, here they are (in no particular order):
Yooka-Laylee and The Impossible Lair
Lonely Mountains: Downhill
Fast RMX
Love
Runner3
Superliminal
The Touryst
Two Point Hospital
What do you think of these hidden gems? Are there any games you think should be featured that weren't in part one or two? Share your thoughts down below.

Superliminal is a great shout!
Thanks, I'm going to download Love. Hope it has banging chip tune music!
Yooka-Laylee? Nah, not after how they lied during the kickstarter for the orginal!
@LillianC14 What do you mean? What did they lie about? 😮
There is this hidden gem of a game called Celeste. Also a relatively unknown game called the breath of the wild. Apparently it’s a prequel to genshin impact.
boo! dig deeper
Interesting feature. However, in major part thanks to you guys, these are well known games to me on the eshop circuit and I own the majority of them (only 2 I don't).
I think "Love" is the only one I don't know much about and I didn't look much into Toryst beyond your review!
Double-u double-u double-u dot come on now dot com, I'd heard about all of these, most on this very site! ^_^
Yeah I feel like Yooka Kaylee, Tourist, two point hospital are all fairly well known (though I don't know if they sold well).
That said, even though they are all on my list I still haven't got round to them!
The Tourist was NOT a good game. One of my worst purchases. WAY overpriced, simple, boring, and often tedious. Stay away.
@breathe_easy Ahh okay, thanks. I hear it's a bit patchy anyway and the sequel mentioned in this article is better. I'm just downloading the demo. 😃
Blossom Tales: The Sleeping King
Two Point Hospital has been on my buy list since it released, but I never see it in shops. Lonely Mountains is another one I keep meaning to buy.
Can confirm that FAST RMX is an amazing racing game with impeccable performance. It's not exactly F-Zero, but close enough to fill that niche.
Another vote for Fast RMX! The only thing it's missing, for me, is online leaderboards.
@Clyde_Radcliffe the original isnt too bad if you can get it on sale, the sequel is 2.5D and more like DKC where as original is a 3D plat and more like banjo kazooie
The original is still worth a shot imo, it's not as good as banjo kazooie but still worth a play if you can get it on a good sale
Happy to see The Touryst get a mention. A fantastic game. I think of it as a Digital Toy (much like Short Hike as mentioned). I haven’t quite completed it, so I may have to play through again. By this point, I’ve played the “break out” clone available in the little arcade in the game. Well worth your time!
Superliminal has caught my eye a couple.times. I need to put it on my watch list so I can catch the next sale.
Oh Alex,
You used to be funny but somehow now I just feel bad for you.
@Tykut I enjoyed Touryst
I had Fast RMX on WiiU and remember just hitting a wall at a certain point. Some track has loads of random posts to crash into, I gave up...
@Zidentia don’t talk that way about my Alex. He’s perfect and always has been.
@andykara2003
I used to think that until he unleashed his inner trollness on me. Now I only feel sadness and loss.
I’ve recommended it here before, but Crossniq+ is a perfect indie gem. It’s a arcade puzzler like Puyo Puyo or Tetris The Grandmaster with an amazing visual style and excellent music. It’s really cheap too, around 8 USD and it often goes on sale.
Runner 3 is such a fun game. Kind of a rhythm platformer. The difficulty escalates quickly. Luckily, you can dial-in the difficulty in the game settings (I had to reduce the amount of enemies for each level).
Need to check out the Touryst. Love the art direction & style.
I have heard of all of them besides Love! I have hardly played any of them though. Two Point Hospital intrigues me the most though, as well as Fast RMX!
@AZD1222 I bought 2 copies of botw to help the starving indie company nintendo out. And I accidentally bought celeste on sale and I feel so bad about it so I'm gonna buy it again soon.
Jets 'N Guns 2 is a great shmup that I haven't seen mentioned or reviewed here. Great gameplay, amazing music, two player co-op, with tons of weapons and ways to customize your ship. I thought it was just light on challenge due to its checkpoint system, but it's one of the best shooters on Switch, IMO.
@Rygar I think I preferred Runner 2 to Runner 3... Runner 3 should have been better than Runner 2, but they tried to do a little too much and it was bit too difficult, I thought (at least for me).
I have four of them and lonely downhill was my favorite
I've been missing videos from Alex, it's good to see him again
I remember buying Fast-RMX on Switch at launch, would recommend if you want some some F-Zero nostalgia for a reasonable price.
The Touryst had possibly the worst and most shallow demo I ever played.
Impossible lair is rubbish. I hate yooka and laylee. Terrible characters
@Zidentia interesting - care to elaborate?
Fast RMX is great! The Touryst is solid but I had a lot of issues with it that bring it down.
Fast RMX is a must have, an extremely good racer...
Two point is great and all it's just a lot to keep up with. Luckily you can just pause things and catch up on who needs to be doing what. I find myself pausing the action a whole lot and also having to redo the hospital layout quite often as I expand. Helps with chaos overload because the game is full of that.
As for the list I mean if you want to talk about little known titles do it but these aren't that (maybe Love).
Is there a list of essentials though? I still haven't got through more than the two Zeldas.
@LillianC14 Yooka-Laylee? Nah, not after how they lied during the kickstarter for the orginal!
It always amazes me that people say stuff like this KNOWING that someone is going to ask for more details. Why not just give the details before anyone has to ask?
@AZD1222 There is this hidden gem of a game called Celeste. Also a relatively unknown game called the breath of the wild. Apparently it’s a prequel to genshin impact.
I heard that call of the wild game is getting a sequel.
@Zidentia Ah, this is known as a parasocial breakup in my field. Condolences. (But trolling Alex won't make things better, either.)
Not exactly hidden gems here, but solid recommendations. Lonely Mountains Downhill is definitely my favorite on this list, I am also a fan of Two Point Hospital but I think it's far better on a PC. Fast RMX is a game that I always had a mixed opinion of, I think it's well made in many ways but it's also poorly balanced in terms of accessibility, the game is just way too hard way too quick.
I would toss Thumper on this list somewhere, I still play it despite being on the Switch for a while now.
@LillianC14 2nd game is far better than the 1st
I have that fast RMX game. And it's sad that online isn't popular at all. People said it was popular online before MK8 Deluxe came out. I wish l got the game before MK8 came out so l can play with real people. Game is very fun and speedy.
Love these videos as the eShop is a very big tent these days. I’d say most of the games in this part two are more well known (I knew most of them at least), but the quality is very high from what I’ve played!
Fast RMX makes me wish Nintendo would give those devs (Shinen) the F-Zero licence. They have the look and speed down pat; but while an interesting difference the colour swapping really makes it feel different to F-Zero. It feels like track layouts are simpler as a result than FZero’s so that it doesn’t overwhelm the player (as reacting to the colours and positioning for strips/pickups you need at speed is exceedingly challenging on its on). While it’s a fun mechanic, I do yearn for a pure F-Zero style game!
@Brodieman Likewise, Lonely Mountains Downhill is an excellent game! I love how you can play it slowly to explore (and to find hidden shortcuts) and then speed run. The game rewards both speed and few crashes, separately (if that makes sense) which gives the gamer multiple ways to play.
And, if you have ever mountain biked, the physics seem so good and the controls are excellent.
I did take me about an hour or two to get the feel of the controls and game play, after that, it feels so good. This is a great game!
Knew all except Love.
God, Superliminal was an amazing game!
Agent A needs a mention. A superb spy based point n click. Was recommended to me by someone here and got it on offer. Well worth the time and some of those puzzles will stay with you xxxx
@dugan Yeah Lonely Mountains is awesome and like you it didn't fully "click" with me until I put in about 2 hours or so. But when it did boy was it a surprising blast. I'm not a typical 100% completion type gamer but this game messes with my OCD. Some of those timed, limited crashes, use a specific bike challenges really get me hooked for long periods of time. Unfortunately once I got to the last mountain that one is just too insane for me to complete after the beginning challenges
Thank you for these videos! It seems that a lot of people knew about these titles. . .but I didn't. By the time I jumped on the Switch bandwagon, there were already so many titles. I like seeing snippets of what I missed. Definitely going to add a couple of these titles to my wishlist.
I can't believe Touryst is banished to a list like this, amazing game that it is.
I stayed away from the second Yooka game after finding the first woefully overrated due to the camera issues.
@Pikman as did I. Riddled with charm I thought
Here's 7 hidden gems of mine (all with a beautiful unique 2D pixel style):
Iron Crypticle is a very good arcadey rogue like Smash TV/Robotron twin stick shooter for up to 4 players co-op. There's a huge item collection and a couple of achievements.
Tikipod also released the fantastic Rock Boshers DX - Director's Cut and the nice Defender/Uridium mix Aqua Kitty UDX. They're all just a few MB's in size and run smooth as butter.
The Rainsdowne Players is an EarthBound-inspired town adventure with friends and townspeople to help, and story ideas to find and mix so you can attract more visitors to your theater. There's a sweet story, and even a day-night-cycle. For just under 70MB in size its hardly even noticable.
In Reventure you have to find the 100 endings in a metroidvania-style quirky medieval pixel world. And it doesn't matter if you get to the worst ending in a couple of seconds or find your way to the best ending. You have to find all 100 to unlock the final ending. There's a platforming world full of secrets, traps, shortcuts, a variety of items that change up your weight and abilities, and characters to interact with. If you die that's also an ending, so often you'll just find new combinations of items to find new ways of dying. The beta pitch game is also unlockable with 10 endings, and it recently had an update adding more secrets.
Cyber Protocol is a flashy puzzle game with a clean neon art style. It is simple, challenging, stylish, and fun. There's tons of stages that get harder and crazier as you move on, and you can try to beat them on time or with no deaths.
UNDERTALE Oh yeah, everybody knows and loves the game. But it fits the theme. Another fun game made with pixels.
@FatHedgehog I know you know this, but camera issues in Yooka Impossible Lair are gone.
Runner 3 all day baby.
This video should have started with Love, and then gone on to less well-known games from there, rather than these games that everyone knows. The whole 'might never have heard of... possibly thing' looks like it is wearing thin already for some. I don't mind it, but was expecting a few less games that are quite so well known.
I say this with every 'hidden gem' list. But if you like platformers and you like lots and lots of content and bang for your buck. Slime San is brilliant.
@Clyde_Radcliffe Love+ has an awesome soundtrack. Lotta fun there.
