One of the more exciting Switch eShop releases this week (at least in North America) was Sakuna: Of Rice and Ruin.
Although it's only been available for a short time, there are already a few new updates. Version 1.02 stabilises overall system operations and the previous patch improves graphic data, adds in missing voice data and expands end game content.
Below are the full patch notes, courtesy of a translation by Nintendo Everything:
Sakuna: Of Rice and Ruin version 1.02 patch notes
- Stabilized overall system operations.

Sakuna: Of Rice and Ruin version 1.01 patch notes
- Added / improved graphic data in some areas.
- Added missing voice data.
- Adjusted overall game balance and effects.
- Stabilized overall system operations.
- Expanded end game content.
Sakuna: Of Rice and Ruin will arrive on the Switch next week in the UK and Europe, so be sure you're running version 1.02 before you start playing.

I'll eventually get into playing this game, I swear.
Probably one of the games I'm most looking forward to trying out at the moment. I'll give it a go once my physical copy arrives.
Not perfect, but a surprisingly eye-opening look at privilege, history, and Japanese myth. After playing a few in-game years, you'll walk away with a fresh perspective on the luxuries you have in life.
Is NL going to review this?
Such a fantastic game. I’m absolutely hooked so far. Glad to see that updates are keeping the game fine tuned. Curious about what they changed for the end game.
@Deliesh Yeah, it should be out early next week.
@Liam_Doolan Awesome—looking forward to it!
Just started playing this now....I'm thoroughly impressed, especially considering it was originally made by just two guys (who then added a music guy and character artist). It looks and sounds beautiful especially in handheld.
@Bizzyb I agree, except I’ve only played it docked so far.
Welll. It's a beautiful game
Kinda wished it was on cart but I’ll give it a pass.
@Liam_Doolan Looking forward to your findings before buying this on Friday, Liam! 🙂
@Nintendemon It is on cart.
@Bizzyb That character artist just happens to be one of my favorite Japanese graphic designers, so this game has a lot of talent behind it.
I’m enjoying this game so far. I love how the scenery changes with the seasons. I just don’t like the rice growing part of it. It’s a bit tedious and takes away from the exploration and adventure of the game.
@JimmySpades Pretty sure they were talking about the update not being on the cart, but yeah, it’s a two man team. I’m just happy we got improvements. 😊
So can someone, somewhere, figure out what exactly the changes and additions are? (Graphics, voice, and end content especially, but also balance changes... I’d like to see specifics somehow.)
I wish I was into farming sims, cuz this looks incredible
This game sounds good. I guess you could say that was RICELY said!
@lifeisgood215 Maybe I’m not playing it right or just haven’t gotten far enough into the game, but I really don’t spent much time on the rice paddy. Just a few minutes here and there. I kind if enjoy the change of pace.
Anyway, just don’t want others to be turned off to the game. It’s subjective of course, and I respect anyone’s opinion if they don’t like that aspect of the game... I just find it unique and and not overbearing. (Maybe I’ll get sick of it later, idk.)
@Nicolai Read my recent comment, I think you should give it a chance.
Very excited for this game. I will be waiting until my classes are done with before I get the game.
