A new Kickstarter project has appeared, and this time it's not a farming sim - it's something a little bit different.
Beacon Pines is a "cute and creepy adventure" that takes place within a magical storybook, where you - both the reader and the main character of the book, Luka - decide the story by filling in words, Mad Libs-style.
Looking like Twin Peaks meets Night In The Woods with a healthy dose of Wind In The Willows, Beacon Pines' story is still a bit of a mystery, although it looks like it involves a town that clings to the past, old secrets being revealed, and maybe a reveal that Laura Palmer was killed by a really cute raccoon. Ok, maybe that last one's not true.
The Kickstarter goal is $30,000 (about £20k) and it's currently about halfway done in its first day.
Will you be grabbing Beacon Pines on Switch when it's ready? Let us know in the comments below.

Wow this looks awesome. Maybe I should look into the Kickstarter.
@Doggedfrog Yeah, I totally would if it wasn't unethical to cover games that I've backed on Kickstarter! I guess I'll just have to wait
Wow, I did not know that you can put gifs as the image for articles @NintendoLife!
@LatsaSpege And it is making me very uncomfortable haha.
@LatsaSpege I honestly was a little freaked out when I saw it lol. Never knew they could do that😂
@LatsaSpege neither did I! We're all learning something today!
(it doesn't properly show up on social, so I'm going to have to change it )
This is frankly pretty impressive.
If it wasnt for a large mound of failed video game kickstarters from the past few years i would probably hop right on this.
That being said, I probably will pick this is up if it does release
I hated Night in the Woods, hopefully this can be better (or good).
Will keep an eye on it. Looks cute. Might check it out if the devs don't turn out to be SJWs and I remember the game when it is released.
Backed. Thanks for the heads-up!
I don't back many projects but this one definitely interests me. I may back it!
Anyone else want to call this Peacan Pie? No? Ok, just me then. Aww, it looks adorable.
er....i love the art so darn much, it's mega adorable as fluck..!! and good gosh the immersive world is legit like a storybook <3!! i love it...buut i have some criticism and worry.
1st; why is the kickstarter asking for 30k?? am i reading this wrong here?? cause that is too much money for a game... especially when they've already passed their goal -_-" ...ugh i feel as though this game is for money.
2nd; i don't like how the female bat girl looks like a stereotype of every female character ever that woke people tend to do; wearing boyish clothing to show off how her attitude being displayed or how she is as a character - it's just screaming woke territory for me :/...and i don't like how the girl is presented wearing such attire when she is a girl - would've been nice to see her wear girl clothes, not boyish ones. i've had seen characters in stories who have her type of personality that isn't politically correct or woke - dress like girls, but it stopped now that everything has gone down to crap to point that what defies a character now is what they wear so girls who rebel/ have family problems like she does gotta be a dyke even freaking belle worst character in a cruddy story like twilight dressed like a darn chick xD
3rd; this will be my first furry game in a long time, it is because every furry thing i see is just grotesque. nothing unique that isn't seeming to make the **animals** have human body structure like a woman or a man.. - it's really uncomfortable to be seeing that :/...like there an animal for a reason, the major issue of people fantasizing about an animal as that of a human woman or man -is just nooo get help.
finally, that's my hot take
Backed. Hope it works out—looks interesting!
im always a sucker for cute styles with dark undertones. ill keep an eye on this
@MidnightLaces $30k (minus Kickstarter's cut, minus the costs of making and sending out all the physical rewards, and minus taxes) really isn't gonna last a team of three all that long, I'm hoping they've got plans for that if they don't end up getting way too much money
@LatsaSpege
At first I read that as "Bacon Pines" and I was like, "What the hell is wrong with you?!" to whoever is making this game.
@MidnightLaces 30k is nothing for a video game project. This is actually a red flag because the amount should be between 50 and 100k
Even with the bare minimum work that 30k is going to disappear very fast. Look up kickstarter projects in games, you would be surprised.
