Urban Champion HD Wii U

My vote is still that NX will have two very different skus, one as a console with a standard controller that outputs in hd, and one as a handheld, lower resolution. Games on cartridges to enable saving between the two. Also that the games are optimized to both resolutions. Anyone expecting one purchase to get them a handheld and a console is crazy.

Something as big as a new main series pokemon game is likely not going to be announced in a magazine. They'd have done it in a direct. Odds are its about volcarion release details.

Gen 1 are classics. Also they are a glitchy mess.

@BulbasaurusRex you say this, but I had dialup until 2006. If you didn't live in a major city, the us was an internet wasteland.

@DoctorOverbuild Yeah... no. seeing as they shut down swapnote for having minimal features, I don't see that being a thing. Honestly I'm still pissed about swapnote. They could have just taken away the ability to send snapshots, or restricted it to gameplay screenshots and the problem would have been solved.

Thoughts:

1: Have 2 options- Handheld and Console. Console outputs to TV via HDMI at 1080, handheld displays at a more modest resolution, something akin to the PSVita. This will ensure the average user buys 1.x systems, rather than just one. Have every game optimized to run at these 2 resolutions.

2: Cartridges rather than Disks. Memory technology has come a long way since the N64. Release the games on cartridges, perhaps a bit bigger than 3ds carts. This will negate any issues with swapping between handheld and console (internet in much of the united states is still too unreliable for cloud based save states to be a good idea, for example). This will also encourage people to take their copy of the game with them. We've all been there, we want to take our copy of Smash Bros to a friends, but nothing is unlocked. I can't be the only one who misses memory cards/cartridge saves.

3: Controller. The WiiMote has had a good run, but I feel it's time to retire it as the primary control scheme. The Wii U Pro Controller on the otherhand is perfect. Bundle it with the (home) console.

4: Nix backwards compatibility, at least as far as hardware is concerned.

5: Launch with Zelda, the same that is being released on the Wii U. Launch with Mario Galaxy. Launch with Animal Crossing. Launch with Mario Kart 9. The Wii U, as great as it's been, has been home to enough platformers. Diversify!

6: Strike a deal with Amazon, or Roku, or Google. Get as many streaming partners behind this thing as you can.

I was a little confused by this game, still am. This seems like a game that could have featured other characters, like Yoshi. Chibi Robo deserves another quirky platformer like the first.

Dialogue like this reminds me of the original gamecube Animal Crossing. Those animals pulled no punches.

I have a question: With the 10 Mario Challenge mode, is it just levels that come on the disk, or is there an option to have it pick levels other players have created?

Reading this, I feel... old? My first Mario game was Super Mario Bros 3.

On the one hand: Some voice over near the end would have been useful, to explain the game a bit. Then again, the us version overdid it and had too much voiceover. This one is definately my favorite.

The games they chose raise so many questions. Even more so with the games Nintendo chose, I mean, 3d Kirby is great! But to not continue the 3D Classics series because they chose Urban Champion over Super Mario? Silly

I wish my Amiibo got more uses, but at least they do, in mario kart, smash, and soon mario maker. I really enjoy the Skylander games. They remind me of the glory days of the collectathon platformer, and the characters are all interesting and have unique mechanics. I bought Disney Infinity 2 and wow was I dissapointed. First off, flying characters have a serious advantage, to the point of making other characters unplayable. The included missions were quite awful and repetitive, and the level creation mechanic, while nice, was not intuitive at all. On top of that, the figures were priced far too high to be inpulse buy territory. I have a number of skylander figures, but I've never paid more than $3 for one as they frequently go on sale (and I tend to be a game behind, will get trap team when it goes on sale)

And you know what? I'm happy they are blind. maybe that will help curb scalping of SUPER popular characters.

I feel for whoever wins the Pikachu Amiibo. I really do.

I hate virtual buttons on tablets. give me a controller anyday. That said, i hope the next console DOES utilize the pro controllers, since they are damn nice.

Additional thought: Things like "Amiibo Tap" are bizarre. The "game" is free, but in order to play demos that should be available, also for free, in the Eshop, you need an amiibo to unlock them, randomly. People who collect Amiibo are nintendo fans, and know if they want to buy a link to the past already. The people who do not know if they want that game, are the ones who have not already played it, who do not collect amiibo. That game, in particular, should have unlocked Full Games instead of just demos. Scan one of these toys and I'll unlock a random complete NES or SNES game? If I'm lucky I'll get an N64 game? that right there justifies half the price of this plastic mario.

@shigulicious There is a new Paper Mario game. It's a paper mario X mario and luigi crossover and it looks fantastic.

Honestly it would make that "happy home designer" game...thing? make more sense.

maybe have the Amiibo's unlock a new wallpaper/theme for the 3ds? like, each having its own it unlocks? I'm a little sad that there are, say, 8 that unlock outfits in Mario Kart, half of which are discontinued and scalped like crazy. I wish they went full on and had an unlock for every amiibo. Especially since its just a simple mii outfit.

Went to an out of the way Target last week and found about 5 Shieks. I bought one and called a friend asking if they wanted me to pick them up one too. They declined, already had it. I left the other 4 knowing full well that some jerk was going to come in right after me and buy all of them.

I am so confused there were regions where Amiibo that aren't Mario, Pikachu, DK, and Peach are even available?
