Re: Talking Point: Have You Bought A 1TB Micro SD Express Card Yet?

DTfearTheBEARD

Nope. Just 256GB and 512GB micro sd express cards, I bought for my Switch 2 around launch. I don't buy digital Switch 2 or game key cards. So I have plenty of storage left over.

I buy the bigger storage file sized games (Final Fantasy VII Remake & Rebirth, Pragmata, RE Requiem, ect) for PS5 Pro. Where there are proper, physical releases, and I have 6TB of SSD space to work with.

$200 for a 1TB micro sd express doesn't seem like a bad deal. I paid $300 each for 1TB micro sd cards for Switch 1, back when those cards we're new.

Re: Latest Nintendo Direct Reportedly The Most-Watched Of The Summer Showcases

DTfearTheBEARD

A whole lot of disappointment with all of those future game key card releases. To me, the Summer Games Fest was so much better. My PS5 Pro/PS Portal combo will be put to a lot more use, in the coming months. And next year as well!

I'm looking forward to finally playing through Xenoblade 1 & 2 plus Torna, with the Switch 2 upgrades. Which have been in my backlog for years. At least they will keep me busy for a few hundred hours.

There are some Switch 2 exclusives to look forward to. But for the most part, my Switch 2 will continue to remain in it's case, powered off as usual.

Re: Feature: Nintendo Switch 2: Year One - Looking Back, How Would You Rate It So Far?

DTfearTheBEARD

The first year for Switch 2 has been pretty underwhelming, for me so far. The screen is a downgrade from Switch OLED. I skip out on most third party games because of game key cards. The Joy-Cons while bigger and a bit more comfortable, could still use improvements between the tiny thumbstick travel and small face buttons.

I've had my Switch 2 since launch and only picked up four physical games throughout it's first year. All of the other game key card releases that i'm interested in, I buy for PS5. Sometimes, I go weeks without turning on my Switch 2 and just pick up my PS Portal or Steam Deck OLED, instead for my handheld gaming fix.

I don't regret my purchase, because I have a massive back catalog of Switch 1 games that can be played on the improved hardware and i know the exclusives that will interest me are coming. It's nice that Nintendo added handheld boost mode. The Switch 2 is snappy and responsive, which is a major improvement over the Switch 1 slow chugging interface.

The NES was my first console, and I've had every Nintendo home console and handheld device since then. Most of the first party exclusives released within it's first year. Just weren't for me and that's okay.

Switch 1 was my go to device. Not only for Nintendo exclusives, but for a lot of 3rd party releases as well. There was something special about being able to play home console quality games on a handheld device. Times have changed, and there are so many other options available to us.

While, the first year of Switch 2 has been average at best, to me. I'm looking forward to the future. It may no longer be my go to machine for 3rd party releases. But the Nintendo exclusives are the main reason why I always purchase a Nintendo console.

Re: Dragon Quest XI Gets The 'Definitive Edition' Treatment (Again) For Switch 2

DTfearTheBEARD

I was looking forward to playing through this again, preferably, on a handheld device. Before Dragon Quest XII.

I own this for Switch & PS4, but with no upgrade path for Switch 2 and a game key card release for the so called physical. I think I'll buy this on Steam to play on my Steam Deck OLED, instead. It's usually on sale for $20. That seems like a much better deal.

Hopefully, Dragon Quest XII comes to Switch 2 with a proper physical release.

Re: Review: Dbrand Switch 2 Joy-Lock Controller Holder - "Even More Comfortable" Than Nintendo's Pro Pad? Let's See

DTfearTheBEARD

With the joy cons thumbsticks that have very short travel distance, smaller face buttons, bumpers, and triggers. It could never compare to the Switch 2 pro controller, as far as comfort and more precise controls goes.

However, I really enjoy d-brands Kill Switch case and joy lock grips on my Switch 2 & Steam Deck OLED (case). Not only for protection, but it actually makes the Switch 2 comfortable to hold in handheld mode.

If I played using my joy cons in a grip style controller like this I would be interested. But I never use joy con controller grips.

I'm a split joy con player, and the joy lock grips make that experience so much better.
If you can look past their snarky attitude in the way they present their products, I highly recommend them.

Re: ICYMI: Indiana Jones On Switch 2 Will Support Mouse & Gyro Controls

DTfearTheBEARD

A proper physical release, mouse mode, and gyro controls. I'm still waiting for that PS5 Pro version (not complete on disc) to drop down to a decent price. But I may have to pick this up for Switch 2, in the meantime.

The only problem is, I'd like to play this in handheld mode only on Switch 2, and those joy-con thumb sticks aren't good for precision while aiming...

Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? (18th April)

DTfearTheBEARD

PS5 Pro- A Little To The Left (doing daily to unlock the Platinum), Pragmata (will take up the majority of my weekend)

Capcom deserves praise for once again including amazing gyro controls to both Pragmata & RE Requiem. I hope the gyro support continues with future releases.

Steam Deck OLED- Dying Light, Hogwarts Legacy, RE6, RE Revelations 2 (Raid mode), Zombie Army 4 (horde mode)

Switch 2- Mario Wonder, RE Revelations 2 (Raid mode), Xenoblade Chronicles X Switch 2 Edition (got distracted by other games, so I haven't been playing it).

Re: Video: 12 Exciting New Games Coming To Switch 1 & 2 In April 2026

DTfearTheBEARD

@the_beaver I already played Indiana Jones day one via Game Pass (Series X).
I've had Tales of Arise for PS5 since day one. So those games do nothing for me.

Lego Batman looks good but not at that price. I'll wait for a sale on that one.

Like I said to the other person, if Switch 2 is your only or main way of playing games. Then, it's understandable why those releases would be exciting.

Re: Horror FPS Amnesia: Rebirth Spooks Up A Storm On Switch 2 Next Month

DTfearTheBEARD

@iNightfarer Agreed. These horror games (most games in general) look terrible on Switch 2 in portable mode. Which is why my Switch 2 stays mostly docked to one of my OLED TV's.

If Switch 2 is your only way to enjoy these type of games, then it's understandable.

I'm interested in Amnesia: Rebirth, but I would much rather play it on PS5 Pro or Steam Deck OLED.

Switch 2 OLED can't come soon enough!

Re: Multiple Switch Games Receive Switch 2 Compatibility Fixes

DTfearTheBEARD

A Hat in Time
DOOM (2016)
Final Fantasy XII
Kirby's Return to Dreamland Deluxe

Nice to know these games I own have been fixed for Switch 2.

Besides Doom (2016), unless it gets a Switch 2 upgrade. Which was amazing at the time it released on Switch. I can't go back to that now. With the option to play a much superior Steam version on my Deck OLED.

Re: Resident Evil Requiem Has Already Sold Over 5 Million Copies

DTfearTheBEARD

Phenomenal game and very well deserved! I earned my Platinum yesterday (4 playthroughs/33 hours) and loved every minute I spent playing RE Requiem.

Looks stunning on PS5 Pro at 60fps with ray tracing and feels great at 120fps with ray tracing off. I love how well Capcom implemented the gyro this time around. My aim was on point, haha.

I'll double dip eventually, to play on my Steam Deck OLED. After a price drop.

Then triple dip a few years down the line for Switch 2, when Nintendo decides to release an OLED model.

Re: Xenoblade Chronicles X: Definitive Edition Gets Nintendo Switch 2 Upgrade, Out Now

DTfearTheBEARD

Damn, I should have waited. Now I have to double dip on the Switch 2 physical.

I picked up the Switch 1 physical copy a few months back on sale for $50. I thought Nintendo would only offer a digital upgrade for this game, but I was wrong. Oh well. At least I'll be able to keep my Switch 2 copy sealed.

Kinda sucks that it isn't a free upgrade since it's a newer release. But $5 isn't bad.

Xenoblade Chronicles 1-3 Switch 2 upgrades next, please.

Re: Reminder: Nintendo Switch 2's New Joy-Con Set Is Out This Week

DTfearTheBEARD

I have an extra pair of joy lock grips from D Brand lying around. So, I'll buy these, to put them to use.

The grips make split joycon gameplay much more comfortable. They even make mouse mode bearable for more than 20 minutes without my hand cramping.

Split joycon is my preferred way to play while using the joycon, especially for games that support gyro (CyberPunk, RE Revelations 1 & 2, RE 5 & 6, ect)
