Re: Rumour: A Game-Key Card Alternative? Nintendo May Have Smaller Switch 2 Carts In The Works

DTfearTheBEARD

Multiple cartridge sizes should have been a thing since day 1. But better late then never.

Since there have been so few proper physical releases for Switch 2. It's been nice to save money, but I would like to build my Switch 2 collection somewhat similar to my Switch 1 library.

Until then, I'll continue buying most of my games for PS5 Pro, older and indie games on Steam with sales for SD OLED and exclusives on Switch 2.

Re: CRKD Announces The 'Nitro Deck 2', Compatible With Switch And Switch 2

DTfearTheBEARD

I don't see anywhere about these supporting gyro? If not, that would be a deal breaker for me.

I'm currently using the kill switch from dbrand which is comfortable. But doesn't change the fact that the joy cons are terrible with certain games with their tiny thumbstick travel.

This seems to have full sized thumbsticks and back buttons, which I like.

It's nice that you don't have to slide the Switch 1/2 into the device. Because I remember people complaining about the original Nitro Deck scratching up their systems.

Guess, I'll wait for reviews and see what people say about it before I make a decision.

Re: Talking Point: Six Months Since Launch, How Would You Rate Switch 2?

DTfearTheBEARD

Decent start so far. I'd give it a 7/10

Pros- Bigger display and joy-cons with magnetic connection, Pro Controller 2, backwards compatibility with some performance improvements (RE 5 & 6, Revelations 1 & 2, Saints Row 3 & 4, ect), mouse mode, better Eshop browsing (no longer laggy), Switch 2 games look great (Donkey Kong Bananza, Mario Kart World) docked to my 4K OLED TV.

Cons- Game key cards, non OLED display, poor battery life, no VRR while docked, tiny thumb stick travel on joy-cons make handheld gaming less enjoyable, having to wait for more Switch 1 games to get upgraded (Xenoblade 1-3, X, please)

I hope to see a Switch 2 OLED and Pro style joy-cons with full size thumb sticks and buttons from Nintendo in the future.

Honestly, I'd probably be more impressed with the Switch 2 if the Steam Deck OLED hadn't been my go to handheld for the past 2 years. But with a much better display, full sized thumb sticks, back buttons, gyro with any game i want, ect. Steam Deck OLED will continue to be my handheld of choice.

I'm looking forward to all of the amazing Nintendo first party exclusives throughout the generation and with my massive back catalog of Switch 1 games (300+), Switch 2 will remain apart of my gaming hardware rotation for years to come!

Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? (22nd November)

DTfearTheBEARD

PS5 Pro- Platinumed Ghost of Yōtei last night and Astro Bot this morning.
I might start Chronos The New Dawn tonight.

Switch 2- Mario Galaxy 1 & 2 arrived in the mail yesterday. I'll start Mario Galaxy 1, Rune Factory Guardians of Azuma, Overcooked 2 NSW2 Edition

Steam Deck OLED- Bioshock Remastered, Shenmue 2, Mad Max, Zombie Army 4 (horde mode)

Re: It's Official, Red Dead Redemption Is Coming To Switch 2 This December

DTfearTheBEARD

I'll take that free upgrade. Mouse mode is cool but after about 20 mins my hand starts cramping (played a bit with Cyberpunk). So I would much prefer gyro aiming. I'm not a fan of auto aim in games.

This game is old, so i'm hoping for at least 1440p in docked mode. Handheld mode won't cut it with aiming using those short travel distance thumb stick on the Joy-Cons.

HDR and 60fps, nice! Maybe I'll finally finish this game for once!

Re: Fallout 4: Anniversary Edition Brings The Apocalypse To Switch 2 In 2026

DTfearTheBEARD

Unless I see a proper physical release, there is no reason for me to be excited about these games coming to Switch 1/2 anymore. If Switch is the only way you have to play these games in portable mode, then I understand.

I have Fallout 3, 4, and New Vegas on my Steam Deck OLED. So unless this game comes complete on cartridge (it won't), it's an easy pass for me.

Happy days for those of you who have been waiting for Fallout to come to Switch though. Such a great experience on a handheld device.

Re: Resident Evil Requiem Gameplay On Switch 2 Emerges From Tokyo Game Show

DTfearTheBEARD

@Medic_alert Understandable with driving in Cyberpunk without analog triggers, because I don't like it either.

I played mouse mode (Cyberpunk) for about 20 minutes before my hand started to cramp. It was fun for a bit but not something I could do for longer game sessions. So yes, a mouse accessory for the Joy-Con would be much appreciated.

No, problem. Have a good weekend. Happy gaming!

Re: Resident Evil Requiem Gameplay On Switch 2 Emerges From Tokyo Game Show

DTfearTheBEARD

@Medic_alert Gyro and mouse mode would make aiming much easier for the RE games on Switch 2. I'm pretty sure Capcom will take advantage of both. For example RE Revelations 1 & 2, RE 5 & 6 all support gyro aiming on Switch (run at 60fps on Switch 2).

I would choose the Switch version any day for all of the games mentioned above over the Xbox One & PS4 versions. The Steam version is the best played via Steam Deck OLED because of the higher frame rate and gyro support. But Switch would come in second.

If you own Cyberpunk 2077 for Switch 2, I suggest giving the gyro and mouse mode a shot. I played Cyberpunk docked at 30fps with split joy con and the gyro felt great, even with the lower frame rate and smaller thumbsticks on the joy cons.

Re: Cyberpunk 2077 Trailer Highlights The Switch 2's Remarkable Versatility

DTfearTheBEARD

A great port! All the different ways you can play Cyberpunk on Switch 2 make it stand out from the rest.

I recently tried out mouse mode and it works well but my hand was cramping after about 20 minutes.

My preferred way to play Cyberpunk, on Switch 2 would be with split Joy-Con and gyro aiming.

I'm currently replaying Cyberpunk on my Steam Deck OLED using remote play with gyro via PS5 Pro. The OLED screen, along with proper HDR and PS5 Pro visuals on a handheld screen! Chef's kiss!

Re: Fatal Frame 2: Crimson Butterfly Remake Set To Haunt Your Switch 2 In 2026

DTfearTheBEARD

Give me a proper physical release and I will gladly double dip. Just like I did with Maiden of Black Water and Mask of the Lunar Eclipse.

I'd be fine with a Switch 1 release. So at least I'd be able to play it in handheld mode on my Switch OLED. If not I'll pick up a copy for PS5.

It will be nice to play this on modern platforms. Without having to hook up the OG Xbox.

Re: Cyberpunk 2077 Receives Another Update On Switch 2, Here Are The Patch Notes

DTfearTheBEARD

I've had the game on Switch 2 since launch. Played mabey 8 hours or so.

It's a great port, but unfortunately, I'm not enjoying it playing in handheld mode. Even with a grip, the Joy Cons kinda ruin the experience for me.

Even with gyro, the tiny joysticks make moving and aiming feel awkward. The lack of analog triggers make driving vehicles more of a chore.

I could play on my OLED TV with the pro controller, but if I do that, I might as well play the PS5 version on my Pro instead.

So I started a new playthrough on my PS5 Pro with remote play using Steam Deck OLED.

It looks amazing in handheld mode on an OLED display with proper HDR, full sized thumbsticks, analog triggers, 4 back buttons and gyro running at 60 fps. The difference is night and day.

Re: Rumour: Resident Evil Requiem Could Be Heading To The Switch 2

DTfearTheBEARD

If so it will be a game key card. Along with RE 2, 3, and 4 Remake. The same goes with RE 7 & 8. Knowing, Capcom, I'm sure of it.

That kills any excitement of the games coming to Switch 2 for me. Prove me wrong. Until then, I'll stick with the Steam versions on my Steam Deck OLED for my RE portable fix. PS5 Pro for the big screen experience!

Re: Video: We've Played Cronos: The New Dawn On Switch 2

DTfearTheBEARD

Game key card means I'll go with a physical PS5 copy for my Pro. Otherwise, I would have double dipped to show some support to 3rd party on Switch 2.

The visual downgrades and 30fps are understandable on a less powerful handheld device.

But I suppose when I want my portable fix of this, I will buy it a few years down the line on Steam and play it on Steam Deck 2. Same with Silent Hill 2.

Re: Poll: Has Donkey Kong Bananza Made You Feel Ill?

DTfearTheBEARD

Nope, I've never had motion sickness playing any game in the 30 plus years I've been a gamer.

I can play games in a car, on a plane, in a train. You get the picture.

However, I have read that some people are complaining about the motion blur.
And a few other things while playing Donkey Kong Bananza, in handheld mode.

I'm assuming it's because of the poor screen quality of the Switch 2.
I have only been playing Donkey Kong Bonanza. In docked mode on my OLED TV and it looks great. Minus the over bright looking HDR, which I just turn off.

Personally, this game has too much button mashing for me to ever consider wanting to play it with the Joy-Cons. It's perfect for the Pro Controller and the back buttons. That's for sure. But that's besides the point.

Re: Rune Factory: Guardians Of Azuma Update Now Live, Here Are The Patch Notes

DTfearTheBEARD

I've been playing all morning and didn't notice an update. Maybe it wasn't live yet.

It's so addicting, and besides some minor frame drops here and there, the game looks and performs pretty well on Switch 2. My first Rune Factory game and I'm hooked!

I decided to give it a chance because it's one of the few Switch 2 games that's actually complete on cartridge. I'm pleasantly surprised!

Re: Best MicroSD Express Cards For Nintendo Switch 2

DTfearTheBEARD

@kmtrain83 Having to re-download games is a pet peeve of mine. I was for sure 1TB micro SD cards would be more than enough for my original Switch/Lite/OLED systems especially since most of my games are physical, but it still wasn't enough to last the entire generation.

So for the moment, I'm being choosy for what games I download to my Switch 2, because if I try to transfer my entire Switch 1 collection on there, the 512 GB express card would fill up fast.

I also like to keep my Internal Storage clear if possible. I don't know why, lol. Maybe for longevity of the console...

Re: Review: Savage Raven By Skull & Co. NeoGrip For Nintendo Switch 2 - Does The Job Very Nicely

DTfearTheBEARD

I was looking at this but I ended up going with the Titan grip from Mumba with the case.

No regrets. Not only is it dockable, it also protects the entire Switch 2 system from drops and the dock from scratching up my console (which I'm mostly worried about).

The grips around the Joy-Cons flip back. So I'm able to remove the Joy-Cons with the protector still attached to the system. It covers up the kickstand but provides its own kickstand which is even better then the one built into the Switch 2. Plus, the kickstand can hold 5 game cards and 2 micro sd express cards. Which is a nice little bonus.

The case holds the Switch 2 with the grip attached, of course. It also can store 12 more game cards. Plus additional storage for cables, earbuds, ect.

I ordered it from Amazon. $30 for the grip. $60 for the case and grip together. Or $70 if you want to add a 2 pack tempered glass screen protectors. Which is the bundle I ordered.

Re: Best MicroSD Express Cards For Nintendo Switch 2

DTfearTheBEARD

@EriXz Yeah, I was iffy about it as well. The read/write speeds and load times are similar to the Sandisk cards for half the price. I can't speak about longevity, of course. But at those prices, I'm willing to take the risk. I noticed ONN makes a bunch of other products, such as TV's, standard micro sd cards, ect.

Re: Best MicroSD Express Cards For Nintendo Switch 2

DTfearTheBEARD

I went with the 256GB ONN (Wal-Mart brand) micro sd express card at launch for $35. After seeing all of the great reviews it's been getting. I've used it for a few weeks and it's been great.

A few days ago, I noticed the 512GB ONN micro sd express card was back in stock for $65. So I upgraded to it. These two cards should hold me over until the 1TB cards go down in price.
