Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? (30th March)

DTfearTheBEARD

Ever since I bought the Steam Deck oled, PS5, Series X, & Switch haven't been played as much...

I'm currently playing RDR2, Shadow of the Tomb Raider, Resident Evil 6 & Max Payne 3 all on the Deck oled. Steam Deck is my first PC/handheld so PC gaming is new to me.

Being able to adjust resolution, frame rate, and add gyro to any and every game makes this system a dream come true to me!

Re: Red Dead Redemption Gets An Update On Switch, Here Are The Patch Notes

DTfearTheBEARD

@SearchingS What platform did you play RE4 Remake on? I have the Platinum for the PS4, PS5, & Steam versions thru Steam deck. Same with the Series X version.

On Playstation and Steam, you can use gyro, which is an absolute game changer! Even playing on Steam Deck at 30fps the aiming is so much easier (with gyro) vs the Series X version at 60fps.

Re: Red Dead Redemption Gets An Update On Switch, Here Are The Patch Notes

DTfearTheBEARD

@SearchingS Hard to explain but it just feels wonky and sluggish. Mabey it's because I'm used to more modern games at the moment.
I don't remember it being an issue with the 360 version. I should pop in the disc on my Series X to see if it's different.

I disagree. Aiming in games are much better at 60fps vs 30fps. Redfall comes to mind, for example.

Re: Sega Reports 'Sluggish' Sales Of Sonic Superstars And Other Major Titles

DTfearTheBEARD

October was a packed month with Spider-Man 2 & Mario Wonder. Plus some other games I know I'm forgetting. Sega games usually go on sale pretty fast. I waited a few months and picked up a copy of Sonic Superstars for $20 a week or so ago from Best Buy. I did the same thing with Sonic Frontiers the year before. I like Sonic but I'm not spending $60 on a Sonic game day 1 that I know will be half price or less within a month or two.

Ever since my Steam Deck arrived on Monday, I've been on it nonstop. Downloading games from the Steam store (GTA 4, F.E.A.R. collection, Days Gone, Horizon Zero Dawn, Dying Light, and more). Plus, using the Deck to play Game Pass games via the cloud & PS5 through remote play. Being able to add gyro support to games that don't even have the option is pretty mind-blowing that it works for my PS5 & Series X games as well. This all in one handheld is amazing! I'm very impressed!

@Rpg-lover I'm the same way. I already have a bad habit of buying and downloading games thru sales and Game Pass/PS Plus Premium on PS5 & Series X.

Plus my backlog of Switch games over the past 6+ years. How much harm can 1 more system do? Lol.

I've been adding games to my wish list on Steam these past few days while waiting for the Deck to arrive. over 100 on the list so far, haha.

One thing I'll miss while using the Steam Deck is playing on an OLED display. After using the Switch OLED and playing PS5 & Series X on my OLED TV's these past few years, It kinda sucks going back to LCD. Mabey the Steam Deck 2 will have an OLED option...

I tend to double and triple dip on games I love, like RE 2, 3, & 4. Which I own for Playstation, Xbox, & now for Steam here soon.

Can you play the Resident Evil games on a Micro SD card? or is it SSD only?

Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? (August 26th)

DTfearTheBEARD

@Rpg-lover I appreciate the information. It's nice to know they run well on the deck. I'll mostly be playing at home so battery life isn't a concern for me.

Besides being able to play games on a handheld that doesn't come to Switch, having the option to add gyro to games that don't even support it is a big reason why I wanted a Steam Deck. Well, that and it's a more affordable way for me to get into PC gaming.

@Rainbowfire Bayonetta Origins is such an amazing experience! I went back and finished it about a week or so ago. I'm sure it didn't sell well, and I don't hear many people talk about it, which is a shame. It's in my top 5 best games I've played this year so far, and this year has been great for gaming. I hope you enjoy it 😁.

Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? (June 3rd)

DTfearTheBEARD

Yesterday was my birthday, so I decided to treat myself to a Splatoon 3 Switch OLED console to add to my collection. It's easily my favorite of all the special edition OLED systems. So over the weekend I'll be downloading 1tb worth of games/updates to it. I just did this last month with TOTK Switch OLED 😳.

Other then that, I'm still playing through Breath of the Wild before I start TOTK.

Series X- GTA 4 & Ghostwire Tokyo

PS5- Dead Island 2, Sakuna of Rice and Ruin

Have a great weekend, everyone!

Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? (May 6th)

Switch- Bayonetta Origins, Resident Evil 6 (Mercenaries), Atelier Ryza

PS5- Dead Island 2 (co-op), Fatal Frame Mask of the Lunar Eclipse, Overcooked All You Can Eat, Blue Reflection

Xbox Series X- F.e.a.r., Gears 2, Coffee Talk

I'll also probably stare at my Zelda TOTK Switch OLED and then put it back in the box.

Have a great weekend, everyone. Happy Gaming!

Re: Official Nintendo Switch SD Card Line Expands With 1TB Zelda Card And Cute Yoshi Design

DTfearTheBEARD

I understand the convenience of going all digital, especially for a hybrid system. But I will always prefer physical media for preservation and I like to collect games.

Better deals and using less SD storage also makes choosing cartridges over digital an even easier decision.

I agree. I bought my 1TB micro SD cards for $300 each a few years back. It's nice to see how far the price has dropped since then. Same with SSD's for PS5 at least, not so much for Series X/S yet...

Re: Talking Point: Which Is Your Favourite Nintendo Controller? Every Nintendo Pad Ranked

DTfearTheBEARD

As far as standard controllers go, the Switch Pro controller is the best Nintendo has made so far.
HD rumble, great battery life, big face buttons, nice design.

Besides the drift issues, I really like the joy-cons and prefer to use split joy-con while gaming in bed docked to the TV. Especially for rpg's, visual novels, and shooters with gyro aiming.

The Gamecube controller (WaveBird) will always hold a special place in my heart. It's perfect for games designed for it (Luigi's Mansion, Mario Kart Double Dash, Smash Bros Melee, ect.

I'm also a big fan of the Wii U gamepad and pick it over the Wii U Pro controller any day. But the Wii U Pro controller has the best battery I've seen on a controller. I had to charge them mabey twice a year.

When It comes to Xbox, the Elite Series 2 is definitely my favorite controller.

Playstation now has my favorite controller of all time with the Dualsense Edge.

Re: Nintendo Download: 20th April (North America)

DTfearTheBEARD

I didn't pre-order any games this week. But I couldn't resist the temptation to pre-order the Zelda OLED system from Best Buy last night. Another Switch system is the last thing I should be buying, but I can't help it. This should (hopefully) be my last Nintendo console until a next gen Nintendo system comes out...
