Re: UK Charts Reveal That Only 2% Of NBA 2K19's Launch Sales Were On Switch

Cyberbotv2

@westman98 : Thanks for that FIFA sales update. It makes sense that the UK market is not that into 3rd party sports games on Switch..yet.

And the hatred for NBA 2K is strong on this board. I'm not sure if the people complaining realize how good this game is. At 30 fps or 60 fps, the actual gameplay requires skill and thought. The My League Franchise mode is impressive. In 2k18, you have the ability to play 80 seasons in Franchise mode. 80 full seasons. That alone justifies the game's price. The mode that involves microtransactions, I've never played. It's an RPG mode. Who wants to play that? I know 2K19 has a new MyTeam mode that was described by the developer a few weeks ago in depth on Operation Sports. And it's another mode you could play forever. The microtransaction stuff can be easily ignored. Nintendo Life unfortunately posts so little about 3rd party games, its embarrassing. 2k has been releasing developer interviews and videos the last month, and I don't recall seeing one article about it.

Re: Nintendo Website Suggests Multiple Switch Games Will Not Support Cloud Saves

Cyberbotv2

@leo13 : Yes, you are correct about the save file with NBA 2k. I think they gave a 5GB estimate if you save on every mode or something. Capcom backs up your saves with Resident Evil Revelations too. I don't recall save files being an issue on my N64 or Gamecube or PS2, etc.

There is so much toxicity on this sites comments section recently. And too much complaining.

Re: Feature: Sitting Down With Panic Button, Nintendo Switch's Most Important Third-Party Studio

Cyberbotv2

Great feature. Panic button is doing some difficult, impressive work. I never even heard of that Hulk Hogan game. Maybe they can partner up with Bret Hart and make a real wrestling game?
But back to the feature. This team puts in alot of time and effort, and I feel full priced purchases are warranted, even if you're downloading half the game for a physical cartridge. I'm still not sure what type of magic they pulled to put Doom and Wolfenstein on Switch. Those two games, and 2K somehow making NBA 2k18 playable and fun shocked me this first year and a half with the Switch.

Re: US Trader Rubs Salt Into Nintendo's Share Drop Wounds With $400 Million Bet Against The Company

Cyberbotv2

Wall Street tends to speculate. Alot. That's all these guys do. They have no inside information.
I think Nintendo is operating against the short term, instant news garbage infecting most media, and laying out stuff slowly at 6 month intervals. Right now, they have Monster Hunter arriving at the end of August followed by the online service. This is a big deal. And there is a consistent stream of retail releases weekly. Unlike the Wii U, where I lost all faith after the release of Smash, I have full confidence in Nintendo again, mainly just from holding and playing the console. I am guessing speculators on Wall Street have yet to physically interact with the console, and don't realize this thing is guaranteed money for years to come.

Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? (July 21st)

Cyberbotv2

I'm playing Sonic Mania Plus. I picked up the physical edition with a beautiful little book at Gamestop. Fantastic game. Also, still playing NBA 2K18. My League mode is absolutely deeper than any game mode I've ever played. I'll sneak in a little RE: Revelations this weekend as well. Playing both NBA and RE in tabletop mode with the joycons has been such a joy.

Re: WWE 2K19 Is Officially Skipping Nintendo Switch, 2K Games Confirms

Cyberbotv2

The WWE 2K wrestling games have been abysmal the last few years. The actual WWE/WWF product has been bad for well over a decade, and the games line up with them now. If you want a legit wrestling game, look to Fire Pro Wrestling. Other than that, boot up the N64 and Gamecube if anything. And for anyone hating on WWF War zone and WWF Attitude, I beg to differ. Those were some of my favorite wrestling games mainly because it was the last time Bret Hart and Owen Hart were in a game together. Oh, what good times!

Re: Soapbox: What Happened To All The Great Baseball Games On Nintendo Consoles?

Cyberbotv2

Great piece. The last great baseball game I played was MVP on the cube. But Acclaim's All Star Baseball 2000 on the N64 was my pinnacle of baseball games. Polygon did a feature on the upcoming RBI baseball, and it sounds like they may have figured it out. NBA 2K18 may have opened the door for sports games moving forward. I bet we hear about Madden and Fire Pro Wrestling later this year.

Re: Here's How Much Data You'll Need To Download For NBA 2K18 On Switch

Cyberbotv2

@flapjack-ashley : Have you run through a game yet? I was wondering how well this will hold up on the Switch.
Otherwise, from what I've read about this game, it is absolutely huge. They've introduced My Neighborhood which is some sort of open world mycareer. And with the number of rosters, current and classic and all time, I can understand the size. I think a lot of folks posting negative thoughts about a save file need to actually go read about the game. They'll quickly learn this might be the most feature laden game ever made.

Re: Soapbox: The SNES Classic Edition Pre-Order Farce Proves Nintendo Hasn't Learned A Thing

Cyberbotv2

I feel bad for those loyal Nintendo fans because they have made total fools the past few years. From gutting the Wii U and giving up on that system, to missing amiibo, to the NES mini disaster, to ongoing Switch supply issues, and now the SNES fiasco, how can you trust Nintendo? Anyone saying this is the retailers fault is delusional. Nintendo has become far worse than I ever expected, milking their remaining fan base to death. If you game, you should be using Steam, Xbox, or Playstation.

Re: Editorial: Is This a Golden Era of Gaming? Absolutely

Cyberbotv2

I don't really know if it's the golden age of gaming. I'm having some fun again, and it's with my xbox one and wii u. The xbox through backwards compatibility has given me access to so many great games. The Wii U library is great.
But for me the golden age is around 1999-2001. The arrival of the dreamcast with its sick library, including the intro of the behemoth NBA 2K franchise, online gameplay and an ergonomic controller aped by Microsoft later on. Along with the N64 ending its run with games like WWF No Mercy which I paid 70 dollars for because the cartridge was huge and would pay 100 times that today. And the intro of the GameCube occurred with games like super monkey ball and a few months later the greatest game ever arrived in Eternal Darkness. This was fun. This was the golden age of gaming. The closest experiences I've had to that since is the new Fire Pro Wrestling World on Steam and the Batman: Arkham Series.

Re: Editorial: The Switch eShop Library is Starting to Look Like the Real Deal

Cyberbotv2

The Switch eshop appears bare bones. I'm still rolling with the Wii U shop. The news today that both NBA 2K and WWE 2k's physical release have been delayed is brutal. I was actually hyped about these two releases and was considering a Switch purchase but this doesn't bode well to me. And where are the bigger games like Shadow of Mordor, Metro, etc. They can't seem to even secure ports as of yet from some of the heavy hitters.

Re: WWE 2K18 is Confirmed for Nintendo Switch

Cyberbotv2

I got WWE 2k16 free on my xbox one and it's a weird game. It looks and sounds great. But the controls take a long time to figure out. I'm still not sure if its a good game because it was frustrating. It's a reversal based system. Just difficult to master. Seeing as how I can't find a Switch, I can't say ill buy the game. However, if Bret Hart is in the game, I'm going to have to find a Switch. Bret Hart was the greatest wrestler I ever saw. Meeting him was amazing. I'd love to slap a sharpshooter on some fool.

Re: The eBay Scalpers Are At It Already With The Super NES Classic Edition

Cyberbotv2

@ThanosReXXX : Hahaha, I just imagined Thanos coming down from space, and finding one of these scalpers and pounding their face to the pavement. That's a glorious visual.
On the SNES mini, the best thing to do is not buy it. It gives Nintendo the impression that under supplying is good business. How do they keep getting away with this?

Re: Poll: Are You Excited About the Super NES Classic Edition?

Cyberbotv2

@meltendo :I absolutely agree with you. Nintendo keeps playing supply and demand games and it is disgusting. The only people buying this are scalpers. I wanted to purchase a Switch and have yet to find it. I'll stick with my Wii U. Today's announcement confirms the jokes on the consumer.

Re: Editorial: Nintendo Went Its Own Way at E3 2017, and It Mostly Worked

Cyberbotv2

A B or B+ makes sense for what Nintendo showed off. Mario Odyssey was game of the show without a doubt. Rabbids was right behind it, and was electric. That audience reaction was insane, and the gameplay topped it off. And Nintendo pulled a Sony by showing that Metroid 4 logo. Most consumers fall into that trap of hype and that type of marketing works for them. I thought Sony's presentation blew. Spider Man looked great but that character has been destroyed by the movies and comics that I have zero interest at this point. Microsoft's conference was good, and Metro looked shockingly good. Crackdown 3 looks great as well. And the original xbox backwards compatibility announcement was huge for me.
But with Nintendo, I see big things coming. I think Xenoblade gets pushed into 2018 and Skyrim positioned as their end of year game. I also saw a retailer posting for WWE 2k18. I could see a Direct focused on NBA 2k18 and or WWE 2K18, and eventually Skyrim. Third parties would really love that. And 2K and Bethesda make quality games.

Re: Poll: What Did You Think of Nintendo at E3 2017?

Cyberbotv2

I'll have to say Nintendo nailed it as a whole. Seeing Mario Odyssey running hooked me in. It was one of the best games seen at E3 overall. And Rabbids looks great. The Ubisoft reveal was electric, and that audience lost their marbles. The Spotlight was subdued but drilled what's coming right now. I totally understand Nintendo's plan, and I think if they meet demand, this console may explode later this year. Of note, I'm an xbox one and wii u owner that was convinced the Switch is legit.

Re: Reggie Fils-Aime Dismisses Threat To Switch From Microsoft's Xbox One X

Cyberbotv2

Totally different markets. I have an xbox one and a wii u. I'm good for awhile. Next purchase will be a switch but I've decided to push that to late 2018 or early 2019. I'll probably upgrade to an xbox one x around the same time. Xbox is awesome. Your gaming library carries over. Media options are great. Best console I've owned since a gamecube. The Wii U is a Switch lite you can't take with you on the go, and I'm good with that for now.

Re: Xbox Boss Wades In On Sony's Decision To Block Minecraft Cross-Platform Play

Cyberbotv2

I love Phil Spencer. And for me, Microsoft has a great ecosystem. I had a PS3 and hated PS Plus and the OS. With my xbox one, it's very consumer friendly. The backwards compatibility is such a big deal because I missed out on all those games. I'm glad to see Nintendo embrace a company like Microsoft. A switch +xbox feels like a better value than a switch+ ps4.

Re: Talking Point: EA and Bethesda Highlight Nintendo Switch as a Portable Powerhouse at E3

Cyberbotv2

I don't really see a problem with Bethesda and EA pushing the portable aspect. Its the only way to try to sell games outside the Nintendo fan base. About the xbox one x, I don't usually look at graphics but when Metro was shown, I was shocked. I've never seen something like that on a console. Wow. More importantly though, Nintendo should be looking at Microsoft and the way they do business. Their backwards compatibility was already fantastic fan service, and now they are adding original xbox games. And your entire library is carrying over with each new console from them. In that sense, Nintendo has really let down their fans. All I know is if Microsoft finds a way to bring over some of those original xbox third party games like Timesplitters and xbox one x has games looking like Metro, I'll be a very happy gamer.

Re: Rumour: Nintendo Is Ramping Up Switch Production For This Fiscal Year

Cyberbotv2

@RedMageLanakyn : I just discovered Fallout 3, and Dark Souls via BC. It's just amazing. PS4 does have a few games I would like to play at some point. Horizon, The Last of Us, the upcoming Spider Man game. And every console definitely has its benefits. Most importantly they'll have a variety of games. And right now the Switch isn't there. Nintendo has a tough climb ahead.

Re: Rumour: Nintendo Is Ramping Up Switch Production For This Fiscal Year

Cyberbotv2

@RedMageLanakyn , I don't own any current Nintendo hardware. And I'm not buying a Switch anytime soon. I own an Xbox one, which is a fantastic console. Unfortunately, their initial reveal slowed them down, but for me its the best console I've owned since a gamecube. I'm a big fan of xbox play anywhere and the huge amount of backwards compatible games which I never played. PS Now is an inferior service. And the controller does not hold up to the xbox one or its elite controller.

Re: Rumour: Nintendo Is Ramping Up Switch Production For This Fiscal Year

Cyberbotv2

Nintendo should probably attempt to push as many Switches into people's hands as possible, especially in Japan. They likely know Sony has something up their sleeve like a Sony Switch. Sony sold the PS4 purely on hype. It has a terrible controller, and their ecosystem leaves much to be desired, especially PS Now. I'm pretty sure Nintendo can do the same.

Re: Talking Point: ARMS Has Plenty to Prove In Its Nintendo Direct

Cyberbotv2

Injustice 2 is out this week, and I'm back on my xbox one. And there's a wicked backwards compatibility sale on xbox one. Now, I have games that should last me until the end of 2018. This ARMS direct better blow the lid off, followed by a huge E3 of games because it's getting hard for me to jump out the Microsoft ecosystem.
