@FragRed : I totally place the blame on Nintendo not securing this. My recommendation would be to move onto an actual next gen machine or PC. These games will likely never come Nintendo's way. They could have really worked with Capcom, have an N64 demo with the new spruced up HD version, and it would have been great fan service, and a nod to better times.
"the big N is well known for its quirkiness, creativity and prioritisation of fun and the gaming 'experience' above all else, and those are key differentiators from the tech-driven 'mature' focus that broadly typifies its immediate rivals"
I use to think that about Nintendo, but I can't say they have been overly creative recently, especially with the Wii U. They have no idea what to do with the gamepad. There is way too much dedication to platformers. They do not carry a diverse line-up. And they have gone the DLC route in a far more disgusting route than expected with Amiibo, and even the staggered release of levels for Splatoon. And since I'm mentioning Splatoon, I keep reading people on this site praising this game over and over. You paid 60 or more dollars for an extended season pass. Uh, no. And the last fun game I played was not even on a Nintendo system. It was Tomb Raider on my PC. The exploration, the story, the effort that was put into the game was extensive. That was fun.
If true, another lost game from Nintendo. I'm moving on in the Fall/Winter away from Nintendo anyway. If they don't care about the console, why should I?
@cloudrunner64 : box and manual? That's rare and amazing. This reminds me of the time I tried purchasing Superman vs Doomsday for the SNES, and they were asking for 600 dollars or 800 pounds, I forget. Point is, we may never see some of these games ever again. 😞
Didn't Iwata say they don't have resources to release VC games? Who wants this? Nintendo needs to dig into their pockets, pay up for some licenses, and bring us Turok, Goldeneye, No Mercy, etc. They can only rely on first party for so long.
@TheAdrock : I like the idea of upgradeable parts. I just don't feel it's sustainable to have to upgrade your system of choice every 5 to 7 years and usually lose backwards compatibility or the previous gen games. I don't know what Nintendo has planned, but a unified account system with games being released from every gen from the Commodore to the upcoming NX including 1st and 3rd party titles would be huge.
Unless it has upgradeable parts like some of the upcoming Steam Machines, this will not interest me. That's why I have yet to jump on the PS4 and Xbox bandwagon. I don't want to get caught in the cycle of upgrading a whole console and losing the previous generation of games. Now if Nintendo suddenly put all their games into an account based system and released games on a consistent schedule, that would be different. Not just new first party games, but more 2nd and 3rd party offerings, and a utilization of their back catalog. And again, a back catalog of 3rd party games is essential. Bring me Turok, bring me Superman vs Doomsday, bring me WWf No Mercy. The likelihood of any of this happening is minimal. And so I might just keep PC gaming instead.
Who cares at this point. Nintendo as a whole continues to disappoint and baffle their own customers. I'll be jumping on the PS4 and/or xbox one by the end of the summer anyway.
@Kirk : In regards to your first post, you're 100% right. Anyone that believes Nintendo has master plans needs to realise these guys are clueless. They honestly thought MK8 and SSB would propel the Wii U. They rely too much on established properties and gimmicks. At this point the NX could arrive with BC, a unified account system, a virtual console filled with games, at 100 dollars...and I still wouldn't care. As a loyal Wii U owner, I expected more but was foolish for expecting so.
@IceClimbers : I hope not. Devil's Third caught my attention last week with the developer video. Back on topic, Xenoblade looks good, but the impression I got from Japanese reviews was not the best. Hopefully, they're adding more for the EU and NA releases. I think Yoshi may end up being the best game on the list.
No solid date for Devil's Third in NA is ridiculous. Nintendo needs to release a Wii U infographic highlighting every indie eshop and retail release coming the rest of the year. I'm guessing they probably have no clue anyway. Just an embarrassment at this point.
@ottospooky : I don't know if the partnership went sour, but the creator did show off video of the game last week, and he looks nuts! I'm guessing he told Nintendo he'll do a Direct himself with no Iwata or any Nintendo employees involved. Or he beat down Iwata before telling him this.
@Dr_Corndog : I guess that's a positive way to look at this. But there is no confirmation of a Devil's Third in NA at all. I wish they would date that.
@arnoldlayne83 : That sounds most tempting. A few months ago, I almost made the plunge, but this time around I'm not going to miss out on these games anymore. Bloodborne's that good?
@arnoldlayne83 : I watched those Microsoft and Sony conferences and found myself very impressed. What I found hilarious was Microsoft offered up the Rare 30 game package for 30 dollars clearly catering to the Nintendo audience that moved on. And all the games shown looked so good. From Doom, Fallout, the Last Guardian, Tomb Raider, Dreams, NBA Live, and so much more, the variety and heftiness of these lineups are great. I think I may get a new console and I may never look back to Nintendo.
@ericwithcheese2 : With Devil's Third and Fatal Frame, Nintendo not acknowledging them shows they have no clue what they're doing. Combined with the lackluster Digital event, it demonstrates ignorance and disorganization. No wonder former Nintendo fans on other consoles hate Nintendo today. This article demonstrates that turning your head the other way whenever Nintendo does something foolish cannot be the norm. Every loyal Nintendo fan deserves to blast them. They have no respect for their customers anymore.
@Yorumi : Agreed. I love Nintendo but there is no way the NX will revive them. They had 10 million console owners that remained loyal through so many hopes and promises with the Wii U. And they turned their back on us yesterday. You can't treat your fans like this.
@rjejr : if they have no goodwill with the hardcore Nintendo fans at this point, they are in deep trouble. People can only invest so much time and money into nostalgia and Nintendo, but yesterday was such a kick to the loyal console owner. That's bad business. And considering Microsoft and Sony sold me on their consoles, as well as a lot of Wii U owners, there is no catching up at this point. This eerily reminds me of Sega and the downward spiral to the Dreamcast.
@arnoldlayne83 : Keep it for now. If anything, I would hold back when purchasing the NX. I am very cautious about purchasing any new games for my Wii U or about purchasing any new Nintendo console. I suspect they have no plan to lure 3rd parties, and are disorganized as a whole.
That was brutal. It seems all attention has been diverted to the NX, but in the process this has sunk the Wi U for good. I assume they will attempt to tread water until Holiday 2016, but that's not a good idea. Not with a beefed up PS4 and Xbox One taking over for good. I was hoping for VC, an explanation of the Club Nintendo replacement, and a release schedule filled with retail releases and a heavy dose of VC and indie. Instead, there one time to catch the common customer was totally wasted. I haven't bought a Wii U game since the start of the year, and I don't feel like putting money into something Nintendo deems dead at this point. And I'm strongly against doing that with the NX, because I don't want to be fooled like this again. I'm extremely disappointed and sad.
Everything mentioned above is great. What would make my brain explode would be a mention of Eternal Darkness, and whatever replacement is coming for Club Nintendo 👍
@Project_Dolphin : I see what you're saying. My interest level was low for Sony's stuff because it was majority 3rd party and I could get all that on PC anyway. Microsoft's conference was much more entertaining. That elite controller and push of exclusives was well done. Plus I enjoyed the Man of Steel intro music
@IceClimbers : Sony had an interesting conference. I found it very odd they were promoting kickstarter to fund Shenmue. Why not just pay the money? Also, most of their first party stuff is coming next year, in Last Guardian and Uncharted. I'll have to let this info sink in.
@AyeHaley : That Fallout customization is excellent. And the Doom footage in Hell was actually a little scary. The game reminds me of Turok back on the 64.
@rjejr : I was watching the NBA Finals too! I hate LeBron but what he's doing is epic. I hope it at least goes 7. Would love to watch an NBA Final game on Friday again, like back in the NBA on NBC day. Back on topic though, I saw a piece of that Batman game commercial, and it does look epic. Then I checked into possibly picking up a ps4 and the game....and the pre-order stuff is ridiculous. There's different pre order DLC with different retailers, and that confused the heck out of me. But yes, it does feel like Sony controls and owns everything.
@AyeHaley : It's been amazing so far for Nintendo, but I did stay up to watch Bethseda's show last night. It was such a stark contrast with what Nintendo was doing earlier. The crowds going nuts watching Ryu face off against Kirby, but the audience watching demons get dismembered during Bethseda's show were really going crazy. Like blood thirsty crazy.
I'll pick him up as soon as I can. I just think its very odd that Capcom allowed Ryu in Smash now, especially with the new Street Fighter exclusive to PS4. Something is brewing....but whatever. That Ryu amiibo might be one I purchase.
Sakurai had his amiibos set up wonderfully in a case. I don't like the idea of amibo, but damn it looks good. Anyone complaining about prices, go take a look at the new 40 dollar Destiny expansion. Yeah.
I'm shocked the Wii U is surging. I may have to purchase Splatoon. And E3 is going to bring huge announcements. The rest of the year is likely to be stacked with releases. I'm officially on board the hype train!!
I'll be picking up this game after E3. I'm just waiting to hear about the Club Nintendo replacement and/or account system prior to purchasing anymore stuff for my Wii U.
I'm very interested in a Starfox game along the lines of the N64 version. I wonder if Miyamoto farmed this out to Platinum? And can Nintendo Life do one of these E3 articles for Eternal Darkness. That's another potential franchise Nintendo is sitting on. And to me it was the greatest game I played on my cube.
@CosmoXY : What?! A Captain Eo figure?! Here I am laughing at Amiibo and Infinity customers, and I would be first on line for Captain Eo. And I would buy 20 of them. Ahhhh!! My brain just exploded from the hype of this!
@Kaze_Memaryu : I hate amiibos but I fully agree with you. The Disney conglomerate can over supply and now have Marvel and Star Wars to rely on. Nintendo just got back into toy making, and it seems as if they planned for this to be for collectors only at the start of this. Now, they're altering plans, but it takes time considering the quality of figures compared to Disney.
I feel bad for people buying this stuff. They're essentially collectibles with DLC which I will never use. I cant even comprehend a customer collecting all these toys.

I just have difficulty believing they can pull that off without any 3rd party support.
