Re: Talking Point: With Prices Rising, Are Your Gaming Habits Changing?

Cyberbotv2

Yeah, I'm good. I've stopped posting on the site because I've cut down on gaming related purchases dramatically. For the past year, I've been solely gaming on my PS2, Gamecube, PS3, and Dreamcast. I played the Switch a few hours in that time. There were so many Switch games I purchased physically that required a download, I just got tired of it. So, I sort of moved on because I'm not the consumer Nintendo is looking for. I saw the Switch 2 and it's prices, and decided against purchasing. Mostly because, the on board storage sucks, and seemingly a hard push toward digital occurred. Also, the way everything was announced, it produced a FOMO effect. Like this bundle won't be around long, so....buy it now. Again, I'm not a sucker for that stuff anymore, and Nintendo, Sony, and Microsoft can go find some ebay scalpers to purchase their product.

Re: Hogwarts Legacy Magics Up July Release Date On Switch, Launches After Other Versions

Cyberbotv2

@WhiteTrashGuy I think you're right. With the new Zelda, and Hogwarts Legacy, I think the Switch successor is arriving this spring. This current hardware has been extended a few years longer than expected. Hopefully, this next iteration has multiple SD card slots, and can upscale current games.
For the folks talking about chip shortages, and a slowing economy, that was an argument a year ago. The playstation 5 is doing serious numbers, and has picked up production. The switch keeps selling too. The economy doesn't seem to be heading into a hard recession, so smaller items like consoles still have strong demand. And the supply issues have improved dramatically. Count on Switch 2 in late spring 2023.

Re: Talking Point: What Did You Think Of The September 2022 Nintendo Direct?

Cyberbotv2

If I had to grade the Direct, I'd say 2/10. The 2 is for Goldeneye, though that will likely play like garbage on Switch Online. A majority of the games look the same with anime figures. Every game is available for preorder on eShop. If I heard that one more time, I was going to vomit. I'm pro physical and anti digital (unless it's Valve). Capcom with cloud games. Great. Switch Sports and Mario Strikers with free updates killing the physical version. That's the new Nintendo. Release half a game on cart and we'll keep updating to fight piracy so everyone can go digital.

Nintendo has been on lunch break for about 2 years. They no longer take risks. No variety. Wouldn't be surprised if the next console is all digital.

Re: French Retailer Lists Batman: Arkham Collection For Switch

Cyberbotv2

Great news! I assume this will be similar to the way Mortal Kombat was handled on the Switch, which I've enjoyed way more than expected. I'm usually all physical, but Switch has been a mess with the additional downloads, so I'm expecting a monster download for the physical version. I'm just interested to see how or if they try to run Arkham knight here.

Re: Talking Point: How Does Microsoft's Purchase Of Activision Blizzard Impact Nintendo?

Cyberbotv2

This has ramifications for Nintendo and Sony. Gamepass is the death of gaming. Microsoft has built in their own DRM. You own nothing. Sony presses their games on a physical Blu ray disc, and for the PS3 and PS4 are safe to play without an online check in. Sony patched the CMOS issue on those, and hopefully gets to the PS5 soon. Nintendo is already putting out half cartridges which is an alternative DRM in its own way. Any gamer supporting Gamepass is a straight clown. A race to the bottom continues.

Re: Rockstar Apologises For GTA Trilogy Issues, First Of Multiple Updates Due In 'Coming Days'

Cyberbotv2

What a clown statement. These companies are like politicians. I'm not buying this trash.
They should have just released the originals on the Switch in physical.
They should not have pulled the originals off of digital storefronts like Steam.
They should not have attached DRM when booting these games.

Again, total clown show from a company that should be running a casino instead.

Re: GTA Trilogy's Physical Edition On Switch Appears To Require A Download

Cyberbotv2

If true..another fail.

I just modded my PS2 and N64. I'd be willing to spend whatever to have these games on cart. I bought WWF No Mercy back in the day for 80 dollars. Worth every penny. I'll play the trilogy on my PS2.

And this is on Nintendo. They are epic clowns. They pulled similar garbage charging a ton for carts with the SNES and N64. That spawned playstation, which didn't require ridiculous cart fees. I was a fool buying so many Switch games that require downloads with a physical version.

Re: Nintendo Leaker Suggests Pricing Of Switch Online's Expansion Pack Could Be Tied To "Licensing Costs"

Cyberbotv2

@UmbreonsPapa
I don't think modern day Nintendo is the same as they were even a few years ago. I wouldn't put anything past them anymore. Considering they actually came out recently to squash the newest 4K rumors that came via Bloomberg shows they are watching and listening to news cycles. And with yesterday's announcement, they'll never backtrack on any of it themselves but I'm sure they have folks putting stuff out there to justify their pricing and online structure.

But in the end, none of it matters. If people want to think what Nintendo is offering here is good value, good for them. I just find myself extremely disappointed with their entire approach with the Online expansion. If Iwata was still here, this would not have been his way.

Re: Nintendo Leaker Suggests Pricing Of Switch Online's Expansion Pack Could Be Tied To "Licensing Costs"

Cyberbotv2

@UltraZelda64 So true on all accounts. I've always been supportive of Nintendo, but this is blatantly anti consumer. It's a scumbag tactic led by a Nintendo CEO who likely doesn't play games and could care less if anyone thinks this is a joke of a deal. Even more hilarious is their stealth announcement yesterday, with the N64 controller sold out in minutes. Seemingly unprepared with supply again. Unprepared for the backlash to Switch expansion, and probably why they got word to Emily Rogers to put out a nonsense rumor. Nintendo took a huge step back yesterday and showed the type of company they've become.

Re: Rumour: Konami Reportedly Reviving Castlevania, Metal Gear Solid, And Silent Hill

Cyberbotv2

Hmm..I had read last year about Sony possibly being involved with reviving Konami's properties. In the meanwhile, if Konami wants some money, port over Silent Hill 1, 2 (very expensive PS2 version), MGS 1, 2, and 3. I don't get some companies regarding these older games. I would love to boot up those games on a Switch as they were first envisioned. And I would buy the remake after. I've done it with Resident Evil 2, and 3 already.

Re: "Dreams Come True": Chris Pratt Talks About His New Role As Super Mario

Cyberbotv2

Some of the comments here have mentioned his personal beliefs and strange workplace behavior but none of that compares to the fact that the guy is a bad actor. Like, he actually sucks. He's on the level of Bradley Cooper or John Krazinski bad. And for me that's bad.

I can't really think of a good actor to voice Mario. Maybe someone older. Like an actual voice actor.

Re: Poll: What Did You Think Of Yesterday's Nintendo Direct?

Cyberbotv2

It was very good. The Switch online expansion looks good, though I don't know how many games they'll be able to put on there. My favorite games, from WCW NWO Revenge, Ken Griffey Baseball, and a ton of licensed games will likely never show up. Though i wonder why they don't blank out player names for sports games, and just release them, because back then, the faces definitely didn't match the real person.
Bayonetta looked great. Time for me to boot up the Wii U again.

Re: Next Nintendo Direct To Air Tomorrow, 23rd September 2021

Cyberbotv2

I'm already happy with the holiday lineup. I've got Super Monkey Ball, Metroid Dread, and Streets of Rage 4 anniversary edition lined up the next month or so.

I hope to see a Dying Light release date. Maybe a GTA release date. Would like to see the Batman Arkham games. And my biggest wish is Fire Pro Wrestling. Wouldn't be surprised to Xenoblade Chronicles X too.

Re: Review: NBA 2K22 - Loading Aside, This Baller's Got It Where It Counts

Cyberbotv2

The NBA has become a farce with a run and gun game, with defense being unimportant, and a de-emphasis on post play.

For 2k, I'm good. I moved back to a modded version of NBA 2K14 on my PC and that game was probably the pinnacle of the series, though 2k11 and 2k12 are excellent. 2K should have dropped the career mode and just have a straight Legends mode. Kareem is on one of the covers, so I thought we'd see Lew Alcindor climbing the ranks in NYC, playing with Oscar in Milwaukee, facing off against Wilt, playing with Magic against Parish and McHale to his final game achieving highest score of all time. It writes itself. They could have implemented the different style of play from different eras. What a waste.

Re: Talking Point: Switch Vs. PS5 And Xbox - Nintendo Preps For The Holidays With A New SKU And European Price Cut

Cyberbotv2

I think the Switch will sell well throughout the holidays, because strangely enough, they have a fairly varied lineup. I am also not buying any new consoles for awhile. I have an Xbox One to play Resident Evil 2 and 3 (best games I have played in a very long time), and a Wii U to play Bayonetta, and most of the Switch library. I've been playing some Switch stuff but I may jump back in for Metroid, Super Monkey Ball, and Shin Megami Tensei V ( which may end up game of the year for me).
I was very close to pulling the trigger on a PS5 a few months ago...then I never found it. But then i learned more about the CMOS issue with the new xbox and playstation, and might wait until there is a significant price drop. Many of the offerings from Sony all look the same, which is highly disappointing, because they took more creative risk with the PS3, and especially the PS2. The new Gran Turismo game is all online basically, and that was sad to see. I'm not sure what Sony is doing. Microsoft, with the original Xbox One wanted an all online console, and had huge backlash, and what's strange is the new Xbox is exactly that, with DRM, and online check ins, and there's been no issue from the consumer.

Nintendo has been resting on their laurels for the better part of 2 years. Right now there's no need to change up the formula, but at some point the consumers (especially U.S. based consumers) will pull back from spending. A consumer may just buy one or no new consoles. And in a way its begun, with the cutting of unemployment benefits, and lots of folks not finding or looking for employment. Its leading to worker shortages, and higher prices on basic stuff. Cars, rent, tvs, food, etc have gone up in price steadily. A reality check is about to happen to most consumers worldwide, and many of these companies, including Nintendo, Microsoft, and Sony recognize that. I think we see a downturn starting this fall, and lasting for a very, very long time.
