Re: Shin Megami Tensei V: Vengeance Doubles The Length Of The Original

Anyone familiar with Atlus should have seen this coming. Having said that, I will double dip. Despite the performance issues I'll probably get it on switch again despite owning a pretty good PC and PS5 since I don't have a steam deck and I honestly feel like SMT5's gameplay loop was designed with portability in mind. I couldn't see myself playing the entirety of this game sitting in front of a TV/monitor.

What a friggin' year. SMTV, dread, wario ware, NMH3, MHR, stories 2, BD2, ghosts and goblins, snap. There were plenty of little surprises too that I absolutely loved and deserve recognition like bowsers fury, famicom detective, miitopia, ace attorney, NEO. This year is currently tied with 2017 and 2019 as my favorite switch year. Get a feeling 2022 will become the new champ though given that release calendar.

@Duffman92 @Zorox88 YES! It honestly bugs me that a lot of 60fps games have the cutscenes running at 60 too. I get it that tech heads will complain about "muh frames!" but it looks awful when you're watching something that is trying to be cinematic and it looks so smooth and artificial. There's a reason the Hobbit caused such a fuss when it released and 48 frames didn't become the new movie standard.

30fps WITH motion blur enabled, please. gameplay is fine at 60 without blur.

Didn't prevent me from buying the game when I was younger and now it's sort of beloved for its awfulness.

Still, as a creative type I understand his frustration over this. Sometimes other people involved in projects can destroy what you've created and it's even more appalling when it becomes loved ironically. You may be able to laugh yourself to the bank but it always nags at you.
