Re: Animal Crossing: New Horizons Nominated For Game Awards 2020 GOTY

Rooting for Hades. ACNH feels like the game that defined this year but it doesn't push the envelope in a way a GoTY should. I could say the same for Sony's offerings; GoT kind of feels like another generic AAA action/adventure game and while TLoU was a technical marvel with a great story... it just felt like a compelling television script inserted into a video game. I get the impression Naughty dog doesnt understands how to utilize the medium of video games to tell a story that is unique to video games and instead just borrows what it knows from film/television.

Re: Nintendo Convinced XSEED To Bring Sakuna To Switch, Pre-Orders About "2-To-1 Over PS4"

@rallydefault I've been saying this for a while now. Nintendo gamers are more interested in a diverse collection of games, most ps and Xbox players just want cutting edge graphics and a good narrative. Take a look at the top 10 best selling ps4 games 9/10 of the top sellers are action games either action adventure or action role-playing. Switch's top 10 has eight separate genres covered in the top ten.

The reason indies and smaller budgeted games thrive on switch (especially in the west) is because people who spend $500 on a console that delivers bleeding edge graphics, mostly want to see those dollars on display meaning indies and non AAA games get overlooked.

Re: Looks Like Pokémon Sword And Shield's Physical DLC Bundle Will Cost $90

Cromulent_JohnyCakes

@Crono1973 most GotY editions come out a year after the final DLC is released. As was pointed out this bundle launches around the same time as the final DLC drops. Also this is nintendo, BotW and its DLC are both still regularly priced at their original full retail price. Yes, you can find both on flash sales periodically but anyone who thought this was gonna be less than $90 was just fooling themselves.

Re: Feature: Every 3D Super Mario Game Ranked

Personally, I like 3d world most but after replaying 3d all stars I understand why odyssey beat Galaxy despite Galaxy's universal praise. There's something so perfect to the way mario controls in a 3d environment that was established in 64 and I think the gimmicks introduced in sunshine and galaxy diminished that feeling. I still love both of those games but mario feels best when just running and jumping in a vast open world and I think odyssey truly managed to recapture what made Mario's first 3d effort so magical.

Re: Where To Pre-Order Hyrule Warriors: Age of Calamity On Nintendo Switch

Cromulent_JohnyCakes

@carlos82 True, but year after year we see many games get buried beneath the avalanche of new releases in the fall. Peoples' money is finite and when everyone releases their games at once people are going to only pick up the games they want most. Even nintendo has had a few games land with a thud as a result. Look at Daemon X Machina, im not saying that game was going to set the world on fire, but having it sandwiched between 4 other nintendo published titles and a bunch of third party games on other consoles probably was not the best move for that game. Utilize the rest of that calender for godsake!

Re: Nintendo's Big Super Mario 35 Plans May Have Been Delayed By Five Months

@Ambassador_Kong While I agree Nintendo can be lazy and anti-consumer, they should be recognized as being extremely employee friendly. They don't overwork their staff, they pay them well, the upper management are not paid nearly as much as other company big-wigs, they take their time with releases etc. Honestly, gamers are too selfish, if given the choice between being consumer friendly or employee friendly I say be kind to your employees. Consumers have the choice to simply not buy or engage with a product, employees are subject to the demands of their employer. People love to rant and rave about how great and pro consumer CDPR is, which is awesome, but most ignore the fact that consumers are benefiting off the blood and sweat of their employees and seem to not care so long as they get pretty games for dirt cheap. Don't even get me started on Activision, the company responsible for those remasters you listed.
