Re: Frame Rate And Resolution For Monster Hunter Rise Demo Revealed

Cromulent_JohnyCakes

@nessisonett @ramu-chan I have a gaming PC and gaming laptop and yes, I can tell the difference between 60 and 30 fps as well, but unless I'm playing a shooter or fighting game it genuinely doesn't effect gameplay for me personally. My comment was mostly at the people who claim a 60fps game that sometimes dips to 55 frames or a 30fps game that occasionally goes to 28 is somehow unplayable when I know the vast majority would only see these numbers when directly told. As for resolution. Thats more of an asthetic thing, I struggle to think of a time when bad resolution has actually negatively impacted my ability to enjoy a game; poor resolution may initially deflate some of my enthusiasm but its quickly swept under the rug. Artistic vision trumps graphical might for me, but thats probably just because I studied art in college. I'm not saying people aren't capable of distinguishing these things but I highly doubt most can.

Its not surprising to see so many third party exclusives hit the switch this year. Let's not forget, unlike a traditional console launch, nintendo kept the switch under lock and key and kind of surprised both the public and their partners.
Even if a third party wanted to make an exclusive for the switch the earliest they could have started was probably six months before launch and with the failure of the wii u most wanted to see a success before committing.
As we near the fourth anniversary, we are now seeing the projects most of these companies have been working on for the past 3-4 years, which is exciting because I get the impression the second half of the switch's life will be packed with great games.

Re: Industry Analysts Are Still Confident We'll See A Switch Pro This Year

Oh, oh-oh! You see, the gamers these days, they listen to the industry analysts, which gives them the brain damage. With the hippin' and the hoppin' and the bippin' and the boppin', they don't know what the gaming is all about. Y'see, gaming is like Jello pudding... no, that's not it. Gaming is like Kodak film... no, that's not right neither. I've got it, Gaming is like the New Nintendo Switch - it'll be around forever!

@Vsaxo27 i will echo this sentiment. I also own a fairly pricey gaming laptop but for anyone that thinks these things are on par with the switch for portable gaming are out of their minds. It is very bulky and extremely heavy/uncomfortable to use while chilling on the couch. I mostly use it when I go to a friend's house for LAN play or D&D, however, thanks to covid I haven't touched the thing in months. The switch's small form factor is unlike any other device i own and is great when someone else has the TV and I just want to game comfortably on my couch.

Doom eternal one of the biggest visual downgrades on switch? I've seen far FAR worse. Hell, Eternal looks better than 2016.

Shocking to see origami king missing considering how many ports are listed. Also surprised to see NMH1 lower than NMH2. But whatever, XC was number 1! Finally getting the recognition it rightfully deserves!

I get the hate people have over the visuals but I am genuinely shocked by how much people prefer pretty games to games with interesting systems. Octopath, from a gameplay perspective, was a HUGE step down from the bravely series. Limited number of jobs, jobs in general were generic, no way to control random encounters, multiclassing was shallow, player had little control over the flow of battles. In fact, the only noteworthy addition octo made to the bravely formula was the weakness break system, which was awesome. Yet Octopath sold a lot more and I fear bravely default 2 will fail to break the 2 million sales mark despite its much better gameplay hooks because "chibi bad, nostalgia SNES good"
