Re: Octopath Traveler Is No Longer A Nintendo Switch Console Exclusive

Cromulent_JohnyCakes

Game came out summer 2018... almost three years ago. It's fine that's its coming to other platforms. If you're that hurt by this game leaving switch as an exclusive just look at the PC sales vs switch sales. PC only sold like half a mill while switch had 2 mill+, other platforms will probably see similar number to PC meaning future projects will still be developed primarily with switch in mind. Stop complaining about exclusivity, the more the merrier!

Re: Free-To-Play JRPG Caravan Stories Is Coming To Switch Via A "Cloud Version"

@anoyonmus I'm not a fan of cloud gaming, but in the case of online only gaming I actually think it makes a lot of sense. Typically when playing a a game like ff14 or WoW, your character is stored on the company servers and when logging in you have to go through DRM just to play. In cases like these cloud gaming is the perfect solution, in fact, why isn't ff14 on switch via cloud services? That would be far more interesting than this game.

Re: Soapbox: It's Time To Normalise Giving Up On Games Early

This is an interesting debate.

Firstly, I agree with most of the sentiments of this editorial. People should not feel pressured to complete games and the individuals that try to gate keep or diminish others' experiences just because they do not conform to some twisted "core gamer" ideology just need to get on with their lives.

Where I might disagree is with the idea that a game can be experienced without necessarily completing it. Yes, there are plenty of games where I whole-heartedly approve of this message. While I enjoy most Bethesda games I would not say that a person who completes a Bethesda game has gained any additional insight with the game or has fundamentally achieved something that could not be had by playing around in a Bethesda sandbox for several hours before throwing in the towel. However, this is not the case with all games; especially not games like Nier: Automata or Undertale. Someone who picked up Nier and played it for 10 hours only to put it down and never touch it again did not actually enjoy the same game as the person who saw the game through to 100% completion. Not even close.

Re: Atlus Wants To Know What Games You Want Ported To Switch

Cromulent_JohnyCakes

For all the toxicity rampant amongst switch port beggers I place the blame squarely on Atlus' shoulders. They have been doing these surveys every year since 2017 with little to show. I get the impression that community engagement exercises like this just give the audience false hope and fuel the endless social media hype cycle towards things that don't exist and may never exist.

Re: UK Charts: Super Mario 3D World Stays Top As Animal Crossing's Slide Continues

Looks like my fears were justified. BD2 will not outsell OT despite being the better game. Remember, people will buy sub par games so long as they look pretty. Honestly, if forums are any indication BD2 is gonna fail based entirely on its visuals even though the actual gameplay and characters are fantastic not to mention leagues better than OT. Not looking forward to OT becoming a new brand and BD slipping into obscurity.

Re: Japanese Charts: Super Mario 3D World Stays Top As Switch Takes Entire Top Ten

@Tipehtfomottob I respectfully disagree in regards to the Switch pro. Now is the time to release a pro model, when the console is on fire, not when sales begin to slack. The best way to appease customers in the twilight years of a console is to release a cheaper product, whether that is by simply reducing the base price or making a slimmer model that cuts production cost down. Problem with pro models is that they are A.) More expensive and B.) Marketed towards a more hard core niche market. The hard core players are also usually your early adopters so they are also the ones most hungry for an upgrade and you need to do it while you still have a strong mind share in the market.
