Re: More Disney Infinity 3.0 Leaks Emerge With Starter Pack Line-Up

CosmoXY

I thought this was fake too. If it's not I'm surprised Disney would choose to focus a game on the old TV series instead of their current show Rebels. Makes no sense.

However, since discovering DI last summer, my kids and I have been hooked. I'm an adult gamer and Disney fan and I enjoy the game probably even more than my kids do. I also appreciate that all the characters are readily available in stores, unlike a competing brand of toys to life figures that I will not collect.

DI is not without it's flaws, but it is a very fun gaming experience, and the figures are all well made and nicely done. I will eventually get the next version, but have learned that if you wait six months you can save a lot of money.

Re: Nintendo Marketing Boss Says amiibo Expectations "Have Been Smashed", and Aims to Improve Stock Supplies

CosmoXY

I was going to collect some amiibo, but after I paid extra to import a Lucario from Japan because I couldn't get one in America and now they've made two others that I wanted store exclusives, I'm out. They've lost me as a customer for these things.

I'm just one person, but I'm sure there are more like me that liked these at first and were interested in collecting some here and there, but are not interested in pre-ordering and driving from store to store hoping to find rare amiibo.

Thankfully Disney Infinity figures are plentiful and easy to find. I'm sticking with that game since my kids and I enjoy the gameplay and collecting.

Re: Guide: Everything We Know So Far About Nintendo's Deal With DeNA, Smart Device Plans and More

CosmoXY

@Kaze_Memaryu I'm super glad that you are not in charge of any decision making at Nintendo. Your closed-mindedness about smart devices is definitely a fault and would not help the company in the long run.

Everyone needs to be cool. It's going to be just fine. Nintendo will surely create a strong smart device presence that will earn revenue and compliment their dedicated gaming platforms. This will only make Nintendo stronger.

Re: Character Art From Forthcoming Disney Wii U Title Emerges Online

CosmoXY

@Kaze_Memaryu you are certainly free to disagree with the Acadamy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences, those people know nothing about quality film. (Sarcasm)

Sure, plenty of what Disney produces is dull or void of new ideas. But it's assinine to say that as a company they've "lost their edge."

Examples: Tangled, Wreck-It Ralph, Frozen, Big Hero 6, Finding Mr. Banks, Maleficent, the Disneynature films. Not to mention the Pixar and Marvel films being produced under Disney. How about Gravity Falls or Phineas & Ferb? Or the upcoming Tomorrowland? I guess you must be right, no creativity at all.

And the Disney Infinity games may not be masterpieces, but they are quality family gaming experiences, no doubt about that.

Re: Character Art From Forthcoming Disney Wii U Title Emerges Online

CosmoXY

@Kaze_Memaryu what an ignorant thing to say. They've produced some amazing entertainment in the last few years. Two academy award winning animated films and the pretty good Infinity games just to name a few things.

On topic, the art style here does not look like DI at all. Definitely something new.

Re: Target Won't Be Restocking Rosalina amiibo, Selected Wave 3 Figures Won't Be Available In-Store

CosmoXY

I wasn't going to pick up Rosalina, but this just silly. There has to be a restock coming. Aren't kids a big part of the target market for these things after all? How are kids (parents of kids) supposed to get their hands on them when they sell out the moment doors open? I would like to pick up a Lucario but it doesn't seem like that'll happen either without a restock coming down the line.

Re: Star Wars Landspeeder Breaks Cover In Disney Infinity 2.0

CosmoXY

@mega719 just because a developer doesn't do what YOU want, doesn't make it a "wasted opportunity" - that is one of the most overused and annoying cliches used by gamers.

@sonicman yes people actually like DI. My kids and I have sunk hours into both versions and collected dozens of the figures. Great family game.

@evenmoresteven we agree with you, more classic Disney playsets please!

Re: Little Mac's amiibo Appears to Have Actually Been Discontinued in North America

CosmoXY

@umegames Amiibo is entering into a competitive market with a brand new product, unlike Skylanders, a brand that is well established in this space. And Little Mac is at best a third tier character. There's every possibility that general consumers pass him by. Nintendo didn't want to gamble on overproducing so probably ordered a fraction of those compare to Mario, Link and Pikachu for example. And just because the first release sold out does not mean there are enough consumers out there to justify a second run. Chances are good that a second run of Mac, Wii Fit Trainer and others in this third tier would end up clogging store shelves.

@Quorthon And others - Amiibo is not a failure by any standard. Fast sellouts are good for business. This is only going to give Nintendo confidence to produce more amiibo and games that utilize them. No where in any marketing that I've seen does it state that all characters will be available in plentiful supply forever.

Trust me, I've been a toy collector for as long as some nintendolife readers have been alive. This is the way toy lines go, especially new ones. As a collector and fellow fan, I also feel your pain when that one figure you really want slips away. But keep your eyes open, watch for good deals on eBay, or even wait it out. After the initial enthusiasm dies down, people will start selling their collections and you'll be able to get them relatively easily on the secondary market.

Re: Little Mac's amiibo Appears to Have Actually Been Discontinued in North America

CosmoXY

Hey people, this is all par for the course when it comes to figure collecting. Get used to it. Many figures are produced and sold in limited quantities and once they're gone, that's it. Toy makers don't want to or can't afford to mass produce figures that aren't a sure hit, and even if the initial release sells out it is often pretty unlikely that a second run will sell out. And they can't afford to sit on stock that doesn't sell. Even major toy makers like Hasbro and Mattel have stock problems (I don't have and can't afford eBay reseller prices for a Masters of the Universe Classics Sorceress for example). Nintendo is a newcomer to the collectible figure market, it is going to take a little time to find what works for them. Bottom line, unless it's a main character from whatever line, if you see a figure you want, you better pick it up because it might not be there next time.

Re: Video: This Incredible Retro Gaming Collection Will Blow You Away

CosmoXY

@ZenTurtle Many people probably share that opinion, but don't underestimate the collector mentality. I collect a few things as a hobby and I can tell you that as a collector there are certain items you just enjoy keeping mint in box. They're nice to look at, can be a conversation piece and can rise in value over time. I have a few video games I'm keeping mint just because I like them and they look great on the shelf.

Re: Talking Point: The amiibo Range Grows, Yet Key Questions Remain

CosmoXY

The article several times is a bit too hard on Skylanders and Disney Infinity. To call those games cynical cash grabs because there are collectable figures to buy that interact with the game is a bit unfair. Someone above mentioned the collectability of those figures and that's a totally valid point. Lots of fans enjoy collecting the figures, it's as much a part of the experience as the gameplay itself. Toy collecting is a legit hobby and games like Skylanders and Infinity scratch that itch and deliver a fun gaming experience at the same time. Nothing wrong with Nintendo wanting to get in on that same action.

My family is a Disney family. I have two daughters that practically live and breath Frozen and many other Disney franchises. Infinity became an obsession in my house, myself included. I do not plan on buying any amiibos, yet, as we're just not into Smash Bros. But if they come up with a Pokémon game for Wii U that is multiplayer, that'll get us on board.

So I will watch amiibo from a distance but with great interest. Bring us a top-tier Wii U Pokémon, sandbox, amiibo supported game for 2015. Thank you.

Re: Talking Point: The Nintendo Figurine Platform Could be a Vital Money-Spinner

CosmoXY

As an adult collector of expensive Masters of the Universe figures, I almost dread the thought of more of my money going toward toys. But if the figures are quality I don't know that I'll have the willpower not to collect them. And if there are quality Pokémon figures that acompany a Wii U game I can play with my kids, then so help me I won't have any choice in the matter.

Re: Feature: Five Reasons Why The 2DS Will Be The Biggest Selling Handheld This Christmas

CosmoXY

From day one I liked the 2DS design. Since I have my launch 3DS and a shiny new red Pokémon 3DS XL, I won't be getting this. Maybe if a nice limited edition comes out I'd get it.

LOL at all the haters. Just because YOU don't like it doesn't mean there's no place in the market for it. I'm glad the people listing their 5 reasons it won't sell or talking about how ugly it is did their extensive market testing and research. It's just too bad Nintendo didn't consult these nintendolife users before launching this "monstrosity."
