@AndreaF96 Meh, I don’t really see what lies you think you’ve been told. Seems like everything has been pretty straightforward on Nintendo and GameFreaks parts. I’m sorry you feel lied to.
@AndreaF96 The funny thing is, I’m not even mad about no national dex. I’m getting it day one and I’m sure I’ll enjoy it. I believe GameFreak will deliver something special and this whole debate will seem pretty silly after a while.
@AndreaF96 Lol, I don’t care if you or anybody else plays it or not. But I can assure you that the people at Nintendo and the Pokémon Company do care about people buying and playing their products.
It’s pretty stupid actually to say that people working at these big organizations don’t care about their customers. That would be shortsighted and any company like that wouldn’t be around as long as Nintendo and Pokémon have been.
Sure, no national dex is a decision that also seems shortsighted, but I’m not ready to throw the baby out with the bathwater.
@AndreaF96 No kidding. Someone get the professor here a medal or something. I just love the strength of you people’s convictions. “I’m outraged! But I’m still going to buy it used and play it anyway! That’ll show them just how upset I am!”
@NCChris Thank you for the explanation professor. As I mentioned previously I have a living dex, and I too play the meta. I have bred and caught hundreds of competitive mons over the years. I still don’t see this ruining the game for me. Is it lazy of gamefreak? Yeah it is, I am not defending the decision, but I’m also not going to scream into the void about it, and I won’t let it stop me from enjoying the game.
@Yorumi super good point. I am one of those people with a complete living and totally legit dex, and although I’d like to be able to bring them into a switch version, not being able to won’t ruin the game for me. But it would have been an amazing incentive to purchase the game if players knew they’d be able to. Probably will be a feature in the “third version” or sequel, lol.
@Virteego I don’t know, seems like a lot of overreacting though. It’s just a video game, not real life or anything. I don’t see the exclusion of some classic mons ruining the overall experience.
@NCChris and @Redax this is kind of funny and sad at the same time. You're thinking about not buying or playing the game at all simply because the full Pokédex won’t be included?
@IHateTombs I hear you on voice acting and storytelling. But I don’t agree on changing the combat mechanics. It’s the very core of Pokémon battling. I’m all for mixing it up in spinoffs. But if you change it too much, you risk it losing its identity. Although BotW changed so many Zelda traditions and I loved that game so maybe I’m completely wrong.
@IHateTombs When someone says Pokémon needs a reinvention, what exactly do they mean by that? Are you expecting changes to the core game mechanics? Those core mechanics are what make it Pokémon. If you’re looking for a different experience, I’d recommend looking into a different series or a Pokémon spin-off of which there are many. The mainline Pokémon rpg series is never going to deviate very far from the series’ roots.
Splatoon 2 for me. Doing a little of everything there, online matches, Octo Expansion and playing through Octo Canyon with the weapons I hadn’t previously used.
I’m on vacation in Hawaii so not doing much gaming. Didn’t even bring my Switch but I did bring my 3DS so playing a bit of Pokémon Ultra Sun here and there.
I'm playing Pokémon, but not on Switch. Getting a new team ready for next weekend's competition on Ultra Sun. Been a while since I've been into Pokémon and all this Let's Go business just made me dig out the latest 3DS version and I realized how much play value was still in it. It's nice when a game I thought I was done with gets a whole new freshness to it.
Easy pass for me. I can wait for gen 8 to get my Pokémon fix on Switch. In the meantime I still have plenty of Splatoon 2 and Mario Odyssey to play. Not to mention extensive backlog.
@JediKadabra I know this is an old story, but had to follow up. I didn't think it was mainline either. Now Masuda says it might be the last mainline game he directs. Seems like they don't even know.
My weekend started with Super Mario Galaxy 2 as I continue to play through my backlog. Played a few battles in the Ultra Spooky Cup competition on Pokémon Ultra Sun. That was fun because I haven't played much Pokémon this year. Also making my daily rounds in Animal Crossing: New Leaf and played some ranked battles in Splatoon 2. I've really been finding ways to get some good gaming time in recently!
I finally completed Metroid Prime 3: Corruption yesterday. Scratch another off my backlog. I'm also making my daily rounds in Animal Crossing: New Leaf and playing in the Splatfest in Splatoon 2. I might also be helping my daughter play through through the Pokémon League in Pokémon Pearl.
It looks cute, I guess that's what they're going for. But for the first time in a decade I'm going to be skipping a mainline game, if that's really what it even is. This game just doesn't look like it's for a player like me.
Getting close to completing Metroid Prime 3: Corruption, doing my daily rounds in Animal Crossing: New Leaf and getting some ranked battles in on Splatoon 2. Been enjoying a variety of games!

Re: Half Of All Switch Owners In The US Have Bought Zelda, Mario And Mario Kart
I have Mario Odyssey but didn't buy BOTW or Mario Kart on Switch. Got them both on Wii U before I bought my Switch.
I wonder what the ratio is for Splatoon 2 and Pokémon Let's Go?
