Re: Online Support is Being Cut For Disney Infinity

CosmoXY

They closed the studio that made the game so I don't understand why there's any surprise or outcry about this.

DI was a great game with so much potential to continue on for years to come. Such a shame it had to end. My kids and I will continue to enjoy the expansive amount of quality gameplay that is readily available offline, probably for years to come.

Now here's hoping that Disney will license the use of DI figures in some future licensed game. Seems like a long shot and pure wishful thinking, but also totally possible. Also, Disney and Star Wars characters in Lego Dimensions.

Re: This Is What Sonic The Hedgehog Looks Like In Lego Dimensions

CosmoXY

@samuelvictor sounds like you're more into sonic than your kids.

I picked up Dimensions a couple weeks ago half off. I've been loving it, but my girls are not really digging it much. They played Disney Infinity for an hour today though. Now if LEGO Friends were in a future Dimensions pack, they'd probably be all over that!

Re: Ninterview: Avid Retro Game Collector Justin "Jutman" Hickman

CosmoXY

@Don I have a pretty large collection of LEGO, Star Wars and He-Man action figures. I also have a lot of video games. I have two children that I have raised to be polite and respectful. They have learned boundaries and to ask permission yet they are still bright and full of energy and life. They have never damaged any item in any of my collections. It's all about how you parent.

I'd like to mention, this guy gives a great bit of life advice. Do more of what makes you happy. Words to live by, as long as what makes you happy doesn't hurt yourself or anyone else.

Re: E3 2016: Fresh Pokémon Sun And Moon Details Include New 'Mon And Battle Format

CosmoXY

@Gauchorino Calm down, I didn't mean to "harass" you and I'm not sure what you think I'm bothered about. I just wanted to get your impressions on this latest update, since you were the one that was able to determine that it looked like a cash grab with no new features after the first two minute trailer was released. I'm not worried about "impressing others," what a weird thing to say.

On topic, it was clear after watching the Treehouse interview with the GameFreak team that there are more secrets yet to be revealed. I hope they save some for players to discover on their own! It seems that they've put a lot of effort into delivering a compelling new entry in the series.

Re: Video: Here's Why Getting Your Retro Games Graded Could Be A Complete Waste Of Money

CosmoXY

@Gauchorino Wrong. Grading is widely regarded among serious collectors as a wise and good investment for everything from comic books and toys to coins and antiques. Having a collectible of almost any kind graded by a reputable and trustworthy service is almost always going to increase the worth of an item and result in a higher resale value. It does several things. It gives an item an universally accepted grade for its condition, which will help collectors determine its value. It preserves an item for long term storage, protecting it from damage from elements or wear from handling. A graded item can also make a nice center peice for a display.

We're all here because we like to play video games. After all, that's what they are meant for! But let's not underestimate the collectibility and future value of these things. Anything that is enjoyed by a lot of people today is very likely going to be considered a rare collectible to someone in the future.

Re: Random: Japanese Gamers Decide Which Starter Pokémon Is The Most "Seriously Useless"

CosmoXY

@greengecko007 Uh, yes I know that Serperiors hidden ability only recently became available. My point is it is widely available now so it is competitively viable, which the comment I was replying to seemed to imply that it wasn't. Sorry if I misunderstood that.

Regardless of what website commenters seem to think, VGC is the officially sanctioned format, Smogon is not. Even box legendaries and Megas have checks and counters. Hopefully 7th gen fixes some balance issues.

Re: Soapbox: How The Evolution Of Pokémon Can Unexpectedly Influence Play-Through Experiences

CosmoXY

Nice write up, I enjoyed reading your perspective and can relate in some ways.

I never touched Pokémon once until I was an adult. I had recently finished college, got a full time job, gotten married, became a homeowner but no longer needed to work two part-time jobs and take classes anymore so I suddenly had time on my hands. I started catching up on Nintendo games I had missed when I was in college. Super Mario Sunshine, Animal Crossing, several Zelda and Metroid games, and a friend suggested I give Pokémon a try. At first I thought, no, that's a kids game. But after reading some favorable reviews I figured I'd give it a go. I got Diamond and loved it right away.

That first play-through for me, a grown man, was probably as fun and exciting as it was for many children during their first Pokémon experience. Catching, battling and raising all these little digital creatures that soon began to feel like pets.

After I finished the game I wanted to learn more. What influences stat growth, what is the deal with natures, why is one staraptor stronger than another of the same level? So I took to the internet, found serebii and the world opened up. Wow this game was deep! I became entranced with EV training and egg moves, and much later IV breeding. But once I discovered all the behind the scenes data, it became a little harder to enjoy just catching a random shinx and training it. This detracted from my enjoyment of Platinum and HG/SS.

So with gen V and beyond, I just decided to enjoy the main game playthrough without worrying about competitive stats at all. You don't need a team of flawless monsters to beat the Elite Four. After finishing the main game in Y though, that's when I really got into competitive. I breed for perfect 5 IVs, egg moves, natures, hidden powers, etc. I'll raise them up and then take them on-line. The strategies players come up with in on-line play are insane. I'm always quickly humbled by on-line players and the creative strategies I encounter.

The thing that I love about Pokémon now is, you can have an entertaining and fun playthrough of the main game, and that might be all you want out of a game. But you can really take the game as far as you want to go with it. There's almost no limit to what you can come up with as far as team strategies, composition and creativity.

For me, it's become a fun hobby that I can enjoy in my downtime and one that I can even begin to share with my kids whom are now becoming interested in gaming and Pokémon. So I say, enjoy what you like about the games and don't stress about the aspects of it that seem too complicated. There's something there for everyone.

Re: Feature: What We Know, and Think We Know, From the Pokémon Sun & Moon Reveal Trailers

CosmoXY

@Gauchorino You actually do seem pretty bothered, your five paragraph responses are a dead giveaway of that fact. You continue to pompously misrepresent, mischaracterize and flat out belittle me simply because I disagreed with you. Which, by the way, I am not and have never been furious over any of your comments, lol. Anyone can see by looking back at the comments that I clearly stated that I disagreed with your original statements (which I can see how the wording of that original remark could contribute to you being all worked up) and I provided counterarguments to back my position up. You are free to continue to be dismissive about the facts of what has been said, but it's fairly clear that you are being obtuse. Weather that's intentional or unintentional remains to be seen.

Now can you please let this go? And I'm not your pal.

Re: Feature: What We Know, and Think We Know, From the Pokémon Sun & Moon Reveal Trailers

CosmoXY

@Bolt_Strike thank you. That was my only point in the first place. He rushed to judgement after one trailer saying it looked like it had no new features and looked like a cash grab. How you can know that after two minutes, if that, of game play is not realistic.

I'm not blindly, adamantly defending any particular game or series as Grouchorino likes to imply. Just calling out his (rather wordy) crap.

Re: Feature: What We Know, and Think We Know, From the Pokémon Sun & Moon Reveal Trailers

CosmoXY

@Gauchorino You need to relax. You are the one misrepresenting my words. The only thing I've adamantly defended, as you put it, is my original remark that your post last week was the worst I'd seen all day. You've obviously got a problem with that, so maybe you're the one that needs to learn to deal with someone having a differing opinion from yours.

As I've said before, I don't care if you agree with me and your opinion on video games is of little consequence to me.

Re: Video: A Snappy Analysis of the Pokémon Sun and Moon Trailers

CosmoXY

@Gauchorino I don't know what you're talking about. I'm not taking anything you say "personally." I know you're just trolling, and as I said I don't even care.

You said they don't show anything new. I said it's a two minute trailer, how can you tell there's nothing new that hasn't been shown?

You said it's a money grab. I said yes it's a consumer product made to sell and make money. It is a sequel to a series that has a proven formula that works. They don't have to reinvent the wheel.

If you want to play a drastically different type of game, go play something else. Nothing wrong with that.

Again, I'm not taking your comments as personal attacks and what you say doesn't bother me. I just pointed out in my initial remark six days ago how your criticism of the trailer was the lamest I'd seen all day and I left reasons why I thought that. Maybe you're the one that needs to stop taking things personally.

Re: Video: A Snappy Analysis of the Pokémon Sun and Moon Trailers

CosmoXY

@Gauchorino Congratulations for having the worst comment here, and that's saying something! You saw what, two minutes of gameplay and you already know there's "so little new differences" from the last four generations. Also, what video game or consumer product in general is not a "money grab" as you put it? Do you think they're making these out of the goodness of their hearts?

As for the Japanese trailer, I enjoyed it, thought it was really well done and didn't really find it manipulative at all beyond what basic advertising is in the first place. Yes, they're selling a product. They try to make you want it and show you why you (think you) need it. That's what advertising has done for decades.

I'm loving the Hawaiin theming! I've had the good fortune to have visited Hawaii on several occasions. I absolutely love Hawaii and definitely left a bit of my heart behind each time. If they can capture the atmosphere, the music, the environment even just a little bit, it will melt my heart.

I like the new Pokémon and character designs too. Popplio may be the weakest, in my opinion, but I'm sure it'll catch on and find a lot of fans.

Finally, I want that trainers hat in real life. Come on Pokémon Center, make that happen!

Re: 2DS Gets a Price Cut to $79.99 in North America

CosmoXY

Got two of these at a similar price last year, one for each of my kids for Christmas. My seven-year-old loves hers and has easily gotten my monies worth out of it. Turns out, my older daughter doesn't enjoy gaming quite as much. But still, a terrific value here for parents of young children.

Re: Pre-Book A Ticket For Volcanion & The Ingenious Magearna, Get Volcanion For Your 3DS Pokémon Game

CosmoXY

@BlatantlyHeroic Wow! You must be mentally disabled if you can't understand what I said.

The point is whiney, impatient fanboys like you demanding information now are completely off-base. You have no grounds to demand anything. Saying that Volcanion info in corocoro is a wasted opportunity is incorrect. Don't you think they know exactly what they're doing, you mook?

By the way, "missed opportunity" or "wasted opportunity" are phrases that fanboys use when they are just fussed that they didn't get what they want when they want it. When I see someone using that phrase in cases like this I immediately dismiss them as an entitled child that really knows very little about how marketing and promotion works. Clearly there is information being held back until the time is right to reveal it, not a moment earlier.

And in case you didn't know, corocoro is a magazine targeted to Japanese anime fans that will be interested in a distribution with tickets. Surprise! Yes, we get to enjoy the reveals that come in corocoro, but really, we're not the intended or primary audience. So please stop crying about it and embarrassing yourself.

Re: No Disney Infinity 4.0 In 2016, But Support For 3.0 Will Continue Via New Play Sets

CosmoXY

I don't think Disney Infinity is flagging as the article suggests. They stated in their digital event yesterday that they were the number one in toys to life for the second year straight.

I also don't think there's a lack of content behind no 4.0. It's more down to the fact that they can now expand 3.0 through digital add-ons. They will be releasing a lot of new product this year for 3.0, new playsets and figures from Disney, Pixar, Marvel and Star Wars brands. It's basically what they would've sold in a 4.0, just without the big new starter set.

It's an amazing game, one that I enjoy playing either with or without my kids! I just wish the Wii U handled it as well as the PS4, a system I don't have.

Edit: if X-Men were in any Disney produced entertainment, they'd be in the game. Until that time, don't hold your breath.
