It would appear that Disney is working on an as-yet unannounced Wii U title. Freelance character artist and 3D modeller Cari Mayle has posted artwork from the game on her personal site - with permission, of course - which shows various fantasy characters.
The characters include a Death Knight, Ranger, Assassin, Thief, Barbarian and Sorceress. You can view them all below.
Disney is working on its yearly Disney Infinity franchise and there's a chance that these characters could be from this year's version - details of which have yet to be revealed. However, it's tempting to ponder if these are taken from a totally new title for Nintendo's console.

World Of Mousecraft.
@Tsurii897 Infinity without Disney characters? Seems unlikely to me. The game is also supposed to be Wii U exclusive, which Disney Infinity is not.
Disney has too many characters for this to be for Infinity. Looks more like a clash of clans type game, or a kids mmorpg like the free apps advertised all over kids shows.
Please be a new 3rd party exclusive for the WiiU!!!! Or multiplatform release which INCLUDES the WiiU along with xbone and ps4.
WiiU needs new different games.
Anymore word on the Legend of Kay rerelease? I see on Amazon.de it's coming to the ps4 also now. Dated for June.
I don't think this is going to tie into Disney Infinity, those characters certainly don't look like any Disney IPs that I know of, and I believe this game is rumoured to be Wii U only. I'll be keeping an eye out on this, it's already rather intriguing.
@readyletsgo I believe a while back, Nordic Games confirmed that Legend of Kay Anniversary is indeed a legitimate product, coming to Wii U and PC. Other than that, I've heard no more new information on it.
I'm looking forward to it though, looks like a pretty fun game, shame I missed it back in the day but the anniversary edition will be catch up time.
@Souldin yeah I only played a tiny bit on ps2, can't wait for it myself too. Looks like it's €30 and released on the 12th June (in Europe anyway)
Disney presents Generic Heroes, the game.
Disney's version of Dragon's Crown? We all know Wii U could use a beat them up.
@Gerbwmu - I think you win, either Clash of Clans or Free Realms. Not even remorely Infinity. Plus w/ the new Star Wars movie coming out most sane people are expecting DI:SW. Probably 1 trilogy as the main set and the other as a play set w/ the new movie getting a playset at Christmas.
@sinafela - Agree on the need for a beatem up, but those chatacters dont really look like it, more like Gauntlet as @Tsurii897 said, though the younger generation never gives Gauntlet its due
Though who knows, maybe its just a match 3 game. After playing the touchscreen app game that is Kirbys Rainbow Curse anything is possible I guess.
Character artwork also looks alot like Might and Magic Clash of Heroes on PSN, a very oroginal type of story driven match 3 game. Id like another 1 of those, also worked very well in multiplayer.
This... why it does indeed look like art from clash of clans! Just... Different in the designs.
I'll watch out for it; seems cool.
Nothing I haven't seen in every western MMO that was ever created - Disney really has no creativity anymore.
@Kaze_Memaryu what an ignorant thing to say. They've produced some amazing entertainment in the last few years. Two academy award winning animated films and the pretty good Infinity games just to name a few things.
On topic, the art style here does not look like DI at all. Definitely something new.
Meh... I'm not impressed.
@CosmoXY Like I care about awards. Their creations have become so predictable it's almost not funny anymore. And the story always revolves around nonsensical conflict that could've easily been avoided by the characters just being honest, for once. Instead, almost every movie nowadays starts with lying or withholding information that posed no dangerous consequences whatsoever.
If people like dull stories, I'll let them have their fun. But it's rather obvious how much they've lost their edge, like it or not.
@Kaze_Memaryu: "And the story always revolves around nonsensical conflict that could've easily been avoided by the characters just being honest, for once." I feel Maleficint is an example of exactly this. I also wonder if Disney will remake their movies, like Cinderella, putting the previous story's villian, in a new light of, "they weren't really bad, just misunderstood".
This character art does look like a free-play game, or a puzzle-game, as Rjejr(#10) said.
@Kaze_Memaryu
Maybe Disney would be interested in purchasing some of your fantastic Game Stories and Concepts to use in their future projects?
In what films and games may I have already enjoyed your work in?
@Kaze_Memaryu you are certainly free to disagree with the Acadamy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences, those people know nothing about quality film. (Sarcasm)
Sure, plenty of what Disney produces is dull or void of new ideas. But it's assinine to say that as a company they've "lost their edge."
Examples: Tangled, Wreck-It Ralph, Frozen, Big Hero 6, Finding Mr. Banks, Maleficent, the Disneynature films. Not to mention the Pixar and Marvel films being produced under Disney. How about Gravity Falls or Phineas & Ferb? Or the upcoming Tomorrowland? I guess you must be right, no creativity at all.
And the Disney Infinity games may not be masterpieces, but they are quality family gaming experiences, no doubt about that.
While it may not be fair to say that Disney has completely lost it's creativity, I would definitely agree that they're not nearly as good as they used to be.
@CosmoXY When it comes to animated films, in particular, the academy actually doesn't take their voting very seriously. They still regard animation as a "genre" rather than an art form, which drives animators like Brad Bird and myself insane.
http://www.cartoonbrew.com/award-season-focus/proof-that-oscar-voters-are-clueless-about-animation-109456.html
This article shows that certain members of the academy vote for animated films even when they haven't viewed all of them and should have abstained from voting.
@MasterBlaster Oh, the obligatory argument "I haven't you seeing doing a better game/movie than X / why don't you do a better movie/game". This is not an argument, it is a poor excuse from someone, who has no arguments in the first place against a critique. You see, I understand that Kaze Memaryu dislikes the latest movies from Disney (and yes, most of them like Frozen were stupid and predictable), but if you attack a person with such an argument, you only make a fool out of yourself, because this is the same as to say "Don't like it, don't watch/play it", which is ridiculous because no one knows if something is good or bad without making an opinion of the object in the first place.
Back to topic: This "whatever it will be"... it looks generic, reminds me to so many things like Zelda or WoW. Perhaps a kids game, but this is what I can say at the moment. Without proper info and pictures/video, it is hard to say if it will be good or not. Fact is, however, that it looks pretty generic and somehow boring for me, but maybe that comes from too much fantasy games, comics and stories, which are in most cases, almost the same mixture and boring as hell (I look at you, Dragon Age and Dogma).
I somehow miss Ultima 1, where you could buy next to swords, mazes and chain armors a laser blaster and a shuttle. Now that was innovative =)
I would prefer it be a brand new title from Disney, giving that games with there name attached to it haven't turn out to be what we quite wanted. I would love to see a new Mickey game personally.
1vs4 D&D style Full Fledged RPG would be awesome. Disney wants to try out their hands with the Gamepad and asynchronous gameplay and this artstyle would fit that perfectly.
eh, could end up being good.
@CharlyDunst
It wasn't an argument. He says he writes Game Concepts and Stories, so I was just wondering where his work has been featured?
If you write Game Concepts, it would imply that someone has already used one in a game, and I would like to play it!
The character art looks decent and I like the fantasy vibe. Whatever it is I hope it turns out to be a good game and a Wii U exclusive.
@Tsurii897 You asked what genre Diablo and Torchlight are, they are ARPG Dungeon Crawlers. I would buy two copies of this game if it turns out to be like those or Gauntlet.
BIll Roper is a lead guy at Disney Interactive. And as others have pointed out, this smells of ARPG/dungeon crawler/hack-n-slash.
Count me in.
@MasterBlaster It seems like that I misunderstood your comment as an empty attack against Kaze_Memaryu, sorry for that. In the last days, you hear such arguments a lot and assume equal comments like them. That was an mistake by me.
But about your question if Disney bought one of his concepts, so I doubt this, since Disney is like many companies, who ignore outsider concepts and only take only concepts from within the company. Besides, if Disney would take one of his ideas, they would strip all rights from him without any possibility of getting money or licensing fees.
Do Disney actually make any decent games?
@MasterBlaster First off, my concepts are at home, obviously.
Secondly, who says I release them? Creating stuff doesn't automatically imply any desire to display it to the public - I do it to keep track of my ideas. I'm working on a project, but since I have a regular life to attend, my time for that is very limited.
@CosmoXY The Disney productions you called all have the same issue: they're predictable (except for Phineas & Ferb). This predictability is present because they always boil it down to one single source of conflict, which is almost impossible to avoid due to the characters being too underdeveloped. But if they were to put more emphasis on characterization, the movies would become too long, and might also become to information-heavy for the young audience.
On the other hand, projects like Phineas & Ferb are created under Disney's supervision, but not by the Disney studios themselves, meaning the actual creators only need to watch the deadline and financial limits, for the most part, so they push the limits and listen to feedback from viewers and fans.
And as a side-note: Disney might own Marvel, but Marvel movies were always terrible (mostly because of unvelievably sloppy inconsistencies and plotholes), so I'm not blaming them for that.
