After much internet rumour and speculation, a listing on Walmart for some Lego Dimensions packs (that was hastily removed) has confirmed a Portal and The Simpsons level pack for Lego Dimensions. It also included listings for character packs on Scooby Doo, Jurassic World and Chima.
The news comes after many Lego fan sites have pawed over the Xbox One retail image that included the top of the box listing every character for the game, albeit in super blurry form. Family Gamer TV were quick to claim that Chell from Portal was clearly visible in this packaging (if you squinted your eyes just right and looked from an angle).
It now seems that this was more than wishful thinking and the video game gods are smiling upon us. The idea of bringing Portal video-game mechanics into a Lego game is mouth watering enough, add to that the final realisation of a physical Lego kit for Portal and this is surely the perfect storm.
The other franchises included in the Walmart listings were Scooby Doo and Jurassic World. Both of these appear to be character packs rather than levels, which would make sense due to the existence of a standalone Jurassic World game and the diminutive size of the Scooby Lego collection.
Warner has not confirmed the existence of these brands in Lego Dimensions, although the trailer included some clear hints at some of them. For instance the massive donut is surely suggesting we will see Homer as part of The Simpsons levels?
Lego Dimensions releases on PS4, Xbox One, Xbox 360, PS3 and Wii U on September 29th.

OOoooOo I might have to get my first Lego game in years...
What is it, I don't understand?
Looking good! Too bad we probably won't see a Star Wars set since that's going to be in Disney Infinity 3.0. Maybe Harry Potter?
@DBPirate O M G that is so going to happen! WB have the rights, so...
I should plant a money-tree.
...Or sell my body.
Why can't we get Portal on Wii U? I would love a Wii-mote control scheme, or a gladOS POV on the gamepad...
I've been hoping for a Lego Simpsons game for ages, but not going to get into this Dimensions stuff.
@Pj1 Skylanders and Disney Infinity, Lego style.
Meh, I'll pass.
Not really interested in any of those franchises, but the Portal gun has obvious potential. I've never played Portal but I really enjoyed Elebits on the Wii. Not that those 2 have anything at all in common, but the gun in Elebits was awesome.
That's the first time I've seen that box cover, man there are a lot of figures up there. Maybe I should start hopeing the game itself sucks b/c I don't think I can afford it.
Lego games bore me. Sorry. I liked undercover, but it still didn't wow me. I am looking forward to this being better, but the Lego formula just doesn't interest me.
Portal got nothing on me, but the Simpsons? Consider me officially interested, which certainly wasn't the case before.
@rjejr
Indeed, those two games are absolutely nothing alike. You could have just as easily related the Cerebral Bore from Turok 2.
Now, if there ends up being a Portal Lego set....
Who am I kidding myself? That's coming home with me the second I see it.
As much as I love Lego, I think I'm sitting this one out. My family is all in on Disney infinity when it comes to toys to life games.
Got me worried with Jurassic World, but luckily its just a character pack? If they kept content out of LEGO Jurassic World in order to include it in Dimensions, that would suck!
Also I could really go for a LEGO Scooby Doo game, but this ones just a character pack as well? Boring.
I'm seriously getting sick of seeing Lego Batman. His first game was great. But the second one was ok... Did he even really need a third game? Then the Lego Movie and now this? They're seriously milking him.
A Portal set now I am kinda interested
After checking the Scooby Doo sets on Google, I went to Amazon and ordered the Chase McCain set. This one:

Dimensions keeps getting more interesting.
@Captain_Gonru
Portal 2 is one of those games I always meant to buy and never did. Thanks for the reminder.
Now this is something I might seriously consider buying because of the info supposedly leaked. I just hope that it plays more like LEGO City Undercover, instead of your typical LEGO game.
I remember when Lego first cut the deal with Lucasfilm to make Star Wars Lego. Licensed Lego was something special, for a while.
SCOOBY DOO!!! OH.MY.GOD!!! Looking at my future, I look really broke.Dayum...
@rjejr Elebits. I was fascinated with that game back then. Showed a lot of potential for Wii Remote controls and yet was so odd and under baked. It was a bold attempt to embrace the controls by a third party that was unfortunately unrewarded. Like everything else, it could have benefited from the extra fine motor accuracy of Motion Plus.
Yeah, nothing to do with Portal though. Portal is superb and if you have a PC you can get it for chump change during a sale on Steam I imagine. It's a relatively short game that is well worth your time. (Sort of fps style but all about action puzzle solving).
@sinalefa I bought that set for my son before Lego City Undercover released. License plate code unlocks those vehicles in the game, actually. The police vehicle got extensive real world play out of it. It's nice but the hatchback isn't too stable.
Well, now I have a thread to my comments on this story. Third party games that boldly used Nintendo's new hardware and weren't rewarded for it.
This is revolutionary. I think this is the first time that Valve has ever worked with Lego, and that's A-okay by me! I'll just have to clear off some space on my lego shelves.
Looks like I have to import this because Warner Bros won't release it in Italy.
Just joking. I'll never import it. **** you, WB!
DI 3.0 Star Wars Edition was announced a moment ago as well Ahhh, I'm so excited for Toys to Life games this year.
Skylanders will likely be announced by the end of the month as well. Finally picked up Trap Team this morning for £20
That Portal Legi will be mine! I don't even want the game, just the Lego!
@aaronsullivan - I'm waiting for Portal 3. No wait, that's Half-Life 3
Elebits always seemed like a rushed glorified "tech demo" and I always wanted a sequel, but they made some horrible platformer instead. I like platofrmers, but the game just wasn't any good. Something to do w/ the weather.
I think the Lego Simpson sets sold very well because there are some new ones that are either out already or coming out in the near future. I think the Kwik-E-Mart is one of them. So I'm not surprised to see their presence in the Lego game.
Is this gonna be the only way to play Portal on a Nintendo console?
Seems like they are taking a bunch of set submitted to Lego Ideas and releasing them into this game. Maybe the Wii U version might get an exclusive Legend of Zelda set.
@Captain_Gonru - I think I played the demo for Portal 1 but it never appealed to me. Maybe after I play Lego City Undercover.
Now I'm quite intrigued in Dimensions. I'm still not buying it full price, not by a long shot. However, the idea of Homer Simpson and Marty McFly running over various monsters in the Mystery Machine is enough to entice me.
With these asking prices, this would be the only Toys to Life product i'll invest in this year. I'm not into Disney Infinity, Skylanders is good but not going to pay for multiple products again
Portal? Holy crap. I just might buy this.
Could just as easily be Velma from Scooby Doo
@efaulk84
I doubt it, unless they are making them exclusive to the Nintendo version. I don't think Nintendo would be happy with their IP running around on the competitor's hardware.
@DarthNocturnal sed this on PushSquair - Itd be awsome if this played during a Whetly boss fight 8P
https://youtu.be/Di2wDDwxqHg
I'm down for a Scooby Lego set. I would purchase it. Love Scooby Doo! Always have, always will.
@rjejr
"I've never played Portal"
What!!? WHAAAT!!!? WHAAAAAAAAAAAT!!?
Gamer badge revoked.
Not spending Au $160 just on the starter pack and $50 for Back to the Future and each other game level and lots of money on all the other extra characters. I might pay half price though.
And I agree with others - LEGO City Undercover on Wii U is the greatest LEGO game ever made.
Okay this but no Metroid Legos........... Seriously Metroid Legos would blow everything away right now.
Even so, I am tired of LEGOS who keeps building games. It is like an fan games and they are selling them in lego form.
Why not SIMS legos, where you could build your own game??
@JaxonH - Well I said I played the demo. I put 2 on my Steam wishlist, Maybe I'll pick it up during 1 of those 75% off weekend sales Steam is famous for.
I am 30 hours into Xnebloade. Man that game just keeps getting better and better. I can't beleive Monolith got the Wii to output some of those graphics.
Holy cow. Portal legos<3 I was not at all planning on getting this game... But I may reconsider...
Chell is appearing on a Nintendo console then?
Well, that was unexpected.
@andreoni79
Why, buongiorno, fellow inhabitant of The Boot!
