@Anti-Matter “ Actually I want to play my PS4 / PS3 games on that time (6 - 8 pm) but since the Direct will start on 8 pm at my place, I will play something else until 7.30 pm so I have enough time to wait the Direct.”
This is all helpful information. What time will you be having dinner and when is bathroom break? Just super curious.
Still a daily player. I enjoy getting out for walks and exploring new parts of my city and I especially like playing it when I go away from home. There have been lots of great events recently, paid and free. I feel bad for the people that are losing jobs, hope they land on their feet somewhere.
Playing through post game missions in Pokémon Legends Arceus. Looking forward to Pokémon GO Community Day on Sunday. Weather is supposed to be nice so it’ll be fun to get out.
@IronMan30 Pretty sure I haven’t made a comment on this topic one way or the other, but at least you gave me a chuckle with your reply. I’m actually pumped for Gen 9. I really enjoyed Gen 8 and Legends Arceus. A new game at the end of this year sounds great to me.
I've been playing the game for 6 years since the game launched and the last 2 years have been the best two years yet. The introduction of remote raid passes in 2020 and the slow but steady release of new research quests, Pokémon and shinies has kept my friends and I hooked since the Gen 6 launch & level 50 cap increase in November 2020. Once you get above level 40 the amounts of EXP and quests to level up provide just the right amount of motivation to continue the grind and makes reaching that next level all the more satisfying. To me, the game has never been more alive. I drop in daily to shiny hunt, work on requests, exp gains, medals, level up my buddy and pvp Pokémon, find Gen 3&4 Pokemon I'm missing and any new Mega Evolutions which have been releasing at a slow pace so they don’t burn through all of them too fast.
I definitely played Pokémon GO more this year than in any previous year. The game has a great community and there’s always something fun going on in the game. It’s kept me walking and exploring outdoors during this pandemic too, which has been a nice distraction.
All Pokémon. Started my Shining Pearl adventure, caught a shiny eevee in the Wild Area event in Shield, and will be spending a good chunk of Sunday participating in shinx Community Day in GO.
@DarthFoxMcCloud What part of the world do you live in? The USA is currently experiencing a downward trend, not that that means it’s over, but it does signal that things might be getting better. But it’s foolish to believe that Covid is keeping people home. For example the Venom sequel just saw the highest box office numbers since the last Star Wars movie in 2019. Again, these Pokémon distributions are intended to get people in stores so they can sell more merch. They’re not giving shinies away just to be nice.
@SpaceboyScreams saying these box arts look awkward is like saying Vermeer’s Girl with a Pearl Earring looks awkward. These are nothing less than modern works of art. The games will be top tier amazing too.
@Tamale Well everyone is entitled to their opinion, as long as everyone realizes that unless they’re opinion is the same as mine it’s wrong. This artwork is simply perfect in every conceivable way.
I guess I felt the opposite of everyone commenting above. I barely knew who Post Malone was before this so I didn’t have any preconceived opinions. I had heard that circles song before but didn’t know the artist, thought it was a pretty catchy song. I like his redo of the Hootie song. The animation sequences were good. Pretty entertaining. I guess it might be better to just enjoy a thing for what it is rather than trying to be super critical of everything only to ruin it for yourself and not be able to have any fun anymore.
@71nk0 I’ll just say it again, this distribution is not something they’re doing just to be nice. It’s not a gift just for playing the game. The whole point is to promote the release of new merchandise that they want to get you in the store to buy. It’s as simple as that.
@71nk0 (self-edited to remove sarcasm) It’s just not realistic to continue to shut down all places of business. There are ways to reduce risk of exposure and this digital distribution is relatively safe.
Reminder: this is a free promotional distribution of a relatively easy to get Pokémon. You don’t have to do it. It’s a tactic to promote the launch of a retail product. Skip it if you’re worried about the virus. I know if I’m even going to bother with it I’ll drive by, see if it’s busy in the store (which it won’t be), and decide to go in based on that.
Even I got myself a little off topic here. My point is, I think people are using the pandemic as an excuse to complain about the method of this distribution, and these people are completely missing the point all together. The distribution is to get people in the store to buy the merch. It’s not a distribution of essential dlc or anything just to be nice to consumers.
I get it, I don’t like going to GameStop either. That place sucks. But if you want this event Pokémon, that’s what you have to do because they want the opportunity to upsell you on the cards.
@BooJoh if that’s true, I wish you nothing but the best and good health.
My family and I have been staying home, virtual learning, quarantine, all that. But we still have to go out once in a while. We wear masks and social distance. Haven’t gotten it. Hope this situation gets better for everyone soon.
@Rob3008 and @BooJoh like you are really staying home anyway. If you want it, wear a mask, you’ll be fine.
Seems like with these in-store giveaways, a lot of you don’t realize the whole point is to promote a product for physical purchase. It’s not just a free gift for no reason.
Did a little Animal Crossing: New Horizons, did the shiny Alolan vulpix raid in Pokémon Shield and played Jedi Fallen Order on my new XBOX. Also played through Super Mario 3D World on the Wii U with my kids.
@Jokerwolf “ I would love to see them have combat options, OG turn based or Pokken Tournament style battling where you can customize your moves. I like the turn based just fine but I would be far more immersed if I could play as my Pokemon and master them like a fighting game. There is just not enough change in the series, same ***** different pile and same problems.”
I think the problem you’re having is expecting the core gameplay, the turn based jrpg style battle system, to be something other than what it is. If you no longer enjoy that combat system, then you would be better served finding a different game to play altogether.
You mention that the gameplay hasn’t evolved. I’d argue that it has quite a lot with each new generation. I won’t go through the list, but each new generation introduces new mechanics to master and the meta evolves on a regular basis.
I have had a lot of fun with Shield and Isle of Armor, looking forward to Crown Tundra. Reading through the comments, it seems like those that are dissatisfied with what Sw/Sh and the dlc has to offer probably haven’t played much Pokémon in the last ten years. These games offer a solid Pokémon experience and the dlc is an improvement over the “third game” that they’ve been doing.
Finally getting around to playing the virtual console release of Pokémon Silver. Downloaded it when it launched but just didn’t get around to it. Goal is to play through it completely by the time Crown Tundra launches. Holds up pretty well for a 20 year old GameBoy game.
Great deal. Pro controller was a must from the moment I first tried playing Splatoon 2. Mario Odyssey was great with my pro. If you don’t have Odyssey and was ever thinking about a pro controller, get this.
@Zuljaras, @boredlizard, @Cevil I think the most likely reason for this would be to get the game on retail shelves in front of the eyes of parents, gift-givers and smaller children. These people don’t spend much of their lives on gaming websites and making posts calling game releases pathetic so they may not be aware of dlc and digital only releases.
I enjoyed Shield and am looking forward to this dlc. Mario Kart 8 Wii U, Breath of the Wild, Splatoon 2, I haven’t been disappointed in Nintendo dlc yet.
Animal Crossing: New Horizons and back into Super Mario Odyssey collecting more power moons. Probably a little Splatoon 2 and possibly some Pokémon Shield as well.

@RubyCarbuncle But do you have one with the mightiest mark?
Also, why is everyone so anxious for Home compatibility? Do people just want to move their shinies into Home or something?
Re: The Illusion Fox Zoroark Is The Next Addition To Pokémon Unite

Re: Pokémon Sword And Shield Shiny Zacian/Zamazenta Distribution Also Headed To Japan
@Kimyonaakuma The reason is to get you in a store so they have the opportunity to try to sell other items to you like preorders, trading cards, etc.
They don’t do these giveaways just to be nice. It is purely a marketing tactic.
Re: New Pokémon Funko Pops Are Coming, Including A Jumbo Charizard
A lot of edge lord hate comments above, typical for any article about Pokémon. I might pick one up, I enjoy the form factor here.
Re: Now, This Is What Next-Gen Pokémon Should Look Like
@AugustusOxy Wrong. Take away the turn based combat system and it’s no longer core Pokémon gameplay. Maybe a cool spin off though.
