Re: Nintendo Life Weekly: Pokémon Generation 7 Sun & Moon Revealed, EA NX Rumours and More

CosmoXY

@PlywoodStick we've had Red & Green/Blue, Gold & Silver, Ruby & Sapphire, Diamond & Pearl, Black & White, X & Y and now Sun & Moon. I don't see how the latest is any more or less creative than what's come before.

My guess is that day and night will play an important part in the new games' story line. If the game is fun and creative, the name and any similarity it may have with other game names will be a non-issue.

Re: Jakks Pacific Re-Emphasizes Plan for 'New and Exciting' World of Nintendo Toys

CosmoXY

Not commenting on the toys here, but as a toy fan and collector of the Masters of the Universe Classics line from Mattel, I can tell you that Scott "Toyguru" Neitlich is a passionate and enthusiastic guy and you're lucky to have him working on something you collect. Sure there were ups and downs wit MOTUC while he was there, but he helped deliver some amazing products. Hopefully World of Nintendo will thrive under his direction.

Re: Bravely Second "Tomahawk" Costume Change Confirmed For The West

CosmoXY

It's been "censored" for the west because it is offensive to appropriate an entire culture as a "costume" or worse a gag or joke. American Indians have had to deal with this for over 200 years and in a modern world this shouldn't really continue. Does anyone here find "blackface" acceptable? Dressing as a Native person for entertainment is the equivalent.

Re: Feature: Nintendo Life's Festive Gaming Plans - Part Two

CosmoXY

I started Skyward Sword for the first time just last month, so slowly playing through that. Very good game, can't believe I never got around to it before now.

Still working on completing a legit pokedex in Omega Ruby, only about 100 to go. It's slow going because I'm trying to catch and breed them all myself, many of which I carefully IV breed with egg moves for competitive play.

Finally, I have a strong suspicion that I'll be receiving Splatoon for Christmas from my wife and kids. So looking forward to seeing what all that fuss has been about.

Edit: Not to mention I got each of my girls a 2DS for Christmas! They don't come here yet so the surprise won't be spoiled. I'm sure I'll be spending a lot of time helping them set their systems up and getting started in some games.

Re: Dinosaurs and New Playable Characters Are Now Available for Disney Infinity 3.0

CosmoXY

@rjejr I don't mind if we disagree, but I think you're way off on a couple points. I just rewatched the trailer in the link you posted back to back with The Good Dinosaur trailer. Are there similarities in design of the dinosaurs? Sure, that's probably because they're both Cartoon Dinosaurs. But each is distinct, the Pixar dinos are even more cartoony than the Ice Age characters, they have the signature Pixar look to them if you ask me. Here's the Good Dinosaur trailer for reference:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=daFnEiLEx70

And if you're saying you're not going to go see this because it's been done before, then you might as well not go to another movie ever. Spectre, done before. Mockingjay Part 2, done before. Creed, done before. In the Heart of the Sea, done before. Star Wars: The Force Awakens, done before. They're all sequels, reboots, remakes, etc. Even the ones that aren't are variations on themes and characters you've seen before.

Finally, the little girl from Finding Nemo is crude compared to the caveman boy in Dinosaur. Pixar has improved their techniques quite a lot in twelve years. I don't see much similarity outside of, as I said, the signature Pixar design style.

Re: Dinosaurs and New Playable Characters Are Now Available for Disney Infinity 3.0

CosmoXY

@Tsurii and @rjejr - Oh brother, did you guys forget this is the same animation studio that created the Cars movies? They make kid-oriented family-friendly animated films with genuine heart. Heaven forbid an animation house makes a movie featuring cartoony dinosaurs! So quick to judge. I'm going to take my family to it and I'd bet we'll all enjoy it.

As for the Disney Infinity art style, sure it's kind of blocky sometimes. It's not for everyone, but I've played each of the games quite a lot and have found that it's a good style to translate disparate properties into a unifying look. It works for the game. And the figures are actually all quite nice. I'm sure we'll pick these all up at some point.

Re: Review: The Legend of Zelda: Tri Force Heroes (3DS)

CosmoXY

Not planning on picking this up, though I do love the graphical design and art style of ALBW. After I played that game I thought I'd like to play a modern 3DS Pokémon game using a similar approach. I liked the 3D worlds in XY, ORAS but kind of missed the little sprite-based characters in the overworld at least from older games.

Re: NES Designer Explains the History of the Console's Release in North America

CosmoXY

@rjejr I thought it was obvious that NX is code for Nintendo Crossover. It's a home system crossed with a portable. Of course that code name will be dropped for something catchier.

I was a kid in the NES era. That grey and black, boxy little game unit was like magic. I loved just handling the controllers and game cartridges. Mega Man 2 and Super Mario Bros. 2 were my favorites. Good, good times.

Re: The Pokémon Company Withdraws Settlement in Lawsuit Over Copyright Infringement

CosmoXY

This whole thing is just making me more excited for a new Pokémon game. The guy was dumb, face it. TPCI has a right to pursue legal action and I think many folks here are being pretty naïve when they say it's not "the right thing to do" or that they took it too far.

I wonder if @Yorumi and others sharing that opinion have even looked any further into the details of this case? What nintendolife is reporting is one-sided and missing plenty of facts. I don't think it's even reasonable to form an opinion on this case based on the reporting on this site. @LUKEKUL comments (#75) are spot on.

Bottom line, Ramar Larkin Jones is a rip-off artist, who has been caught and is now playing the victim role for sympathy. I bet once Gofundme finds out what he's been up to they'll return all the donations to the poor gullible saps that gave him money. You can't actually use gofundme to pay your legal fees in this way.

Re: The Pokémon Company Sues Fan for Copyright Infringement, Demands $4,000 in Damages

CosmoXY

It's just a relief to me that there are so many experts on copyright law here on Nintendolife. I remember a couple of weeks ago when Disney Infinity released a downloadable stage inspired by Splatoon, the legal experts on this site were calling for Nintendo to sue Disney. Now this guy is being sued for illegally using Pokémon to make money but TPCI should not be suing him according to our top lawyers here on Nintendolife. In fact, shame on them for it and lets boycott and burn all our Nintendo and Pokémon games!

Wait, a judge actually sided with the plaintiff in this case? Could that actually mean our nintendolife legal team is wrong? Or maybe it's a corrupt judge! Get your aluminum foil hats on folks, I smell a conspiracy! Corrupt judges and evil international corporations all bringing their might down upon an innocent victim all in the name of world domination.

Give me a break nintendolife.

Re: Disney Infinity 3.0's Toy Box Mode Offers Blatant Splatoon Clone

CosmoXY

Guys, it is clearly inspired by and based on Splatoon. DI is not even trying to hide that. And seriously, does anyone here actually think that with the wealth of Disney, Marvel and now Star Wars content in this game that Disney would need to resort to plagiarism to try to sell their game?

No, this is just one of what will eventually be hundreds if not thousands of downloadable "toy boxes" that just give additional game play and content. Watch their Toy Box TV programs on YouTube to get an idea of what they're doing here.

Sheesh, those of you thinking this is some serious infraction are out of your minds. It barely even registers as newsworthy if you ask me.

Re: Disney Infinity 3.0's Toy Box Mode Offers Blatant Splatoon Clone

CosmoXY

@Aozz it's supposed to remind you of Splatoon. That's the whole point.

Couple other comments. The paintball gun item has been in DI since the first version in 2013. Maybe Disney should sue Nintendo, Lol.

Also, I like how this site posts this flamebait article yet never posted their own review (unless I missed it, and I looked). DI3 has received good reviews everywhere else. It's a heck of a good game.

Re: Disney Infinity 3.0's Toy Box Mode Offers Blatant Splatoon Clone

CosmoXY

The comments here. Wow, just wow. Clearly the majority of you all just don't get it. And I'm pretty sure Nintendo isn't going to mind, much less sue. That is the stupidest thing I've read anywhere on the Internet yet today.

Attention insecure Nintendo fanboys: this is a downloadable level made in the toy box mode using the extensive creation tools. This isn't even the first time DI has paid homage to Nintendo, see the Super Mario Bros level made in the original version of DI.

Re: Pokémon Go is an AR Game Headed to iOS and Android, With Accompanying 'Plus' Device for the Wrist

CosmoXY

This is genius. This app will get older and lapsed fans who don't own video game systems anymore to rediscover their love for Pokémon. The app is sure to be a gateway to whatever the next main game will be in the series. Players of this game will spend money on the in app purchases, and then a lot of those folks will end up going out and buying new game systems so they can play the main game when it comes out.

Re: Disney Infinity Sales Struggling To Maintain Momentum

CosmoXY

It seems like there's only one or two responses in this whole thread from people that actually understand what's going on here, Peach64 is one of them. It's been an entire year since DI2 came out, of course it's not selling like it did a year ago. The sky is not falling on toys to life or Disney Infinity. Their game is a success, single-handedly saving Disney Interactive, the community is thriving, 3.0 is going to be the best edition yet and with Star Wars enjoying a comeback, it'll have no problem selling.

Edit: the link explains the situation much better than this story does http://www.vg247.com/2015/08/05/disney-infinity-sales-dip-results-in-disney-interactive-revenue-die-off/

Re: Talking Point: Metroid Prime: Federation Force and Entitled Fury

CosmoXY

Ouch, they didn't show a single thing I'm willing to spend money or time on. Being an adult, I don't have time for games like these. Being a parent (of girls) my kids aren't going to be very interested in games like these. Pass all around.

Guess that leaves more money to save for a PS4, Star Wars Battlefront and Disney Infinity 3.0, games I do have time for and my kids will want to play.

Re: Disney Infinity Producer Brands amiibo Stock Shortages "Irresponsible And Rude"

CosmoXY

@Kaze_Memaryu You come across as pretty naïve if you believe that an executive making a living for at least the last three years in the interactive gaming and toys to life space doesn't know why a competitor's shortages are "a thing."

On Disney as a whole, I gave you several examples of properties that are beloved around the world, generally praised by critics and fans, and huge financial successes. Not to mention many of the examples I gave you have either been nominated for or earned top awards.

You haven't been able to give an example of Disney's "somewhat diminished quality." I will help you with that - Lone Ranger, Cars 2, John Carter. Sure, not everything that comes out of Disney today is golden. But it never was that way. For every Pinocchio there is a Song of the South, for each Mary Poppins there is a Pete's Dragon, for every Oliver and Company there is a Black Cauldren. Don't get me wrong, those movies all have fans and are considered classics but if you objectively look at the later in each of those examples you'll find that throughout the history of the company there are ups and downs. But given the examples from my post above I'd say Disney is in a pretty good place right now.

Now all that being said, I have no interest in any further back and forward with you. For you to dismiss my previous response to you as "pretty pathetic" shows that you are probably going to ignore thoughtful and reasoned dialogue in favor of hostile and rude language.

Have a great day!

Re: Disney Infinity Producer Brands amiibo Stock Shortages "Irresponsible And Rude"

CosmoXY

@Kaze_Memaryu Ha, you must be right, I'm sure the guy has his position at one of the most competitive entertainment companies in the world because he's totally clueless about the situations of his competitors. Makes total sense.

As for struggling to understand the popularity of Disney and their products in the last ten years, I guess if you can't appreciate Tangled, Wreck-It Ralph, Frozen, Big Hero 6, Toy Story 3, Up, Phineas & Ferb, Gravity Falls, Maleficent, Muppets: Most Wanted and the Marvel Cinematic Universe for example I don't know what to tell you. I'm sure hating on Disney is cool and all but in the mean time my family and I will enjoy Inside Out, Ant Man and Star Wars later this year.

Re: Disney Infinity Producer Brands amiibo Stock Shortages "Irresponsible And Rude"

CosmoXY

@Kaze_Memaryu I totally disagree with you. Vignocchi is anything but ignorant. He's a huge gamer himself and a passionate game developer. You have a right to an opinion about the Infinity aesthetic, but just to be fair, there is a huge community of fans of all things DI. There's a widely held belief that Infinity figures are quality-made and good-looking collectables.

@Cyberbotv2 Considering your avatar, I thought you'd be interested to know that Vignocchi is actively working on incorporating Michael Jackson's Captain Eo into a future Infinity release. Could be fun to play as Elsa, Yoda, Hulk and Jackson all in one game!

Re: Disney Infinity Producer Brands amiibo Stock Shortages "Irresponsible And Rude"

CosmoXY

He's totally right. I've never had trouble finding an Infinity figure, and my family has the whole collection now. Amiibo on the other hand, we have two, weren't able to get some of the others we wanted and then gave up. Not to mention we just never found the game content offered with amiibo that compelling. DI is a ton of family fun though, so we're sticking with that.

Re: Poll: We Need to Talk About amiibo - Where Do You Stand?

CosmoXY

I wanted to collect at least the Pokemon amiibo, but after importing lucario and then learning that Greninja and jigglypuff would be store exclusives I just decided to quit. Too much hassle. If I can't just walk into my local target and pick up the ones I want, no buy. Disney Infinity has been no trouble to collect and since my family loves Disney (and I love Marvel and Star Wars) we'll stick with that.

Re: Hands On: Disney Infinity 3.0's Twilight Of The Republic Brings The Star Wars Saga To Wii U

CosmoXY

Looks like they are really hitting it out of the park this year. I hope the game isn't riddled with glitches, I had to restart my 2.0 game three times before the toy box hub was fully playable. The figures and playsets in 3.0 all look so nice, glad they're also including at least one Pixar playset, my daughters will enjoy that while Star Wars will really mainly appeal to me.

Re: Hands On: Disney Infinity Toy Box 3.0 Brings A Fresh Mario Kart Rival To Wii U

CosmoXY

@Nintendian I came here to say how amazing I think the new toy box racing game looks, with Disney and Star Wars tracks and all. But then I saw the idiocy of your comment and just had to rebut. Pixar films went downhill after Disney acquired Pixar? All the Toy Story movies? Cars? Up? Incredibles? Brave? I can't saw I agree even one bit. Have you heard any of the buzz surrounding Inside Out?
