The cool thing is though, once your VR gets higher around 2500 or more and you're playing other players with that level or higher VR, I found that a lot less people would select Maka Wuhu. It seemed that good players didn't want to choose that course.
@theblackdragon Guys, I've said it twice now, I'm glad they fixed it too. But I'm not ashamed for having exploited the Maka Wuhu glitch when almost everyone else I raced against was using it too. If you want to get all uptight and look down your nose about it that's fine, have fun propping yourself up as some kind of superior gaming purist. But no, I'm not going to just lie down and let all the noobs beat me, or power down my system, just because people like you say it's cheating.
And for the record, I never select Maka Wuhu. I'm a good enough racer that I select Random every time, I don't need to pick the courses with the glitches to win.
@Jahir Relax "dude." It was simply exploiting the same shortcut that typically at least 5 out of 7 other users in the race were also exploiting. Everyone knew about it, and it hadn't been fixed until now, so I don't call it cheating. I enjoyed beating the noobs at their own game. Taking the high road (not exploiting the same glitch that nearly everyone else was) in this particular instance only resulted in you placing near the bottom of the pack every time Maka Wuhu was selected, and I wasn't content to settle for that.
Like I said before, I'm glad it's fixed, but I wasn't crying over people doing it before it was.
All of you crying about cheaters are making me lol. If you can't beat 'em, join 'em. That's what I did and I didn't feel one bit bad about it. I'm happy the glitches are fixed, but having them there didn't ruin it for me.
I'll be playing some Epic Mickey this weekend too. Started it last year and enjoyed it, but never finished. I want to restart it and complete it this time.
I'm hooked on Uprising and very pleased that Pit came back in a big way. I'd welcome more Kid Icarus games, but probably wouldn't buy into offshoots such as merchandise or cartoons, I'm really not that into the AR cards either. But if those things were to help establish the franchise then great. Now please bring KI:OMAM to American VC.
@Mardt And another thing, it's fine not to like a certain game or type of game. There a plenty of games I've never gotten into because I didn't like the controls, the design, the story, or whatever. If you don't like the game, nobody would blame you for putting it down and moving on. But to get all mad about it and balst the dev, that's not cool.
I got used to the controls pretty quickly and have really enjoyed the game. I think KIU is really a jewel in the 3DS' crown. EDIT: I've never used the stand, never even took it out of the box.
@LztheBlehBird Depends on the voice you want to give it. If you read that using original Star Wars Luke voice, yeah it sounds whiney. But if you read it using Robert DeNiro voice, not so whiney.
Either way, people will whine every week about the Nintendo Download. I've begun to find it best to either just ignore or laugh at the whiners. But engaging in verbal spats about it doesn't do anyone any good.
Nothing for me this week, again, but I'm not too worried about it. Still pretty engaged in KIU and MK7, not to mention I've only scratched the surface of Rolling Western. I don't have enough time to play all my games.
I'm hoping Nintendo DS titles such as Pokémon Black/White 2 will be available via download. They've said nothing about DS titles, but I'd like to see that be an option for 3DS users.
I like the ability to organize into folders. But, it'd be nice if in a future update there would be some icons we could choose from like a NES, GBA, GB, some DSiWare and other icons. That would look better than plain blue folders with generic letters on them.
@Mickeymac My opinion is based on the fact that I haven't come across a Mario game that I didn't enjoy, it's not an opinion based on four screen shots and knee-jerk reaction. Either way, you're all entitled to your opinions, I just wonder how many will change once more is revealed.
@SavageBlackWolf Lol. Good job forming an opinion based on four screen shots. Have fun being negative. I'll have fun looking forward to this game, then I'll have even more fun playing it.
What a bunch of complainers. I'm with the people that are excited about this game. I'm pretty surprised that so many people are so upset about it, although I shouldn't be since it's the Nintendolife commenters I'm talking about. I just don't see how the announcement and four screen shots is enough for so many of you to declare this game a wasted opportunity.
@gyyrro Well basically everything that comes out of a Hollywood studio is a cashgrab. They wouldn't spend so much time and money on movies if there wasn't big money to be made. That said, there are plenty of film makers that are in it for the art and to provide a truly memorable movie experience for audiences, and I believe that Disney Animation Studios falls into that category.
Leaving out the RPG element isn't really a huge disapointment for me. I'm still going to get this game and probably love it. But like many of you, I'll be looking for a sale or deal on it rather than paying full price.
@Nin-freak I named the people working on Wreck-It. Besides, Disney owns Pixar now. You're entitled to your opinion, but I'll offer up Bolt, Princess and the Frog, Tangled and even Winnie the Pooh as a recent Disney animation titles that were pretty good to great.
@Mardt KIU wasn't "shifted over to the 3DS." This game was made from the ground up for 3DS at the request of Iwata. If you read the entire interview, they talk about the origin of the development of the game. Iwata wanted Sakurai to create a non-Smash Bros. game for 3DS and this is what he came up with.
Might it have been better on Wii, perhaps, but they never intended it to be on that system. I love it on 3DS and once I got used to the controls it plays quite well for me. I say it's one of th best on the system so far.
@Nin-freak You must not know very much about Disney. One of the Producers behind Wreck-It Ralph is John Lasseter, one of the creaters of Toy Story, Monsters, Inc., Wall-E, etc. It is directed by Rich Moore who has worked on The Simpsons and Futurama. It stars John C. Reilly, Jane Lynch, Sarah Silverman, Jack McBrayer and others. Knowing that, how could anyone say this probably won't be very good?
@Myx You and I must read different gaming websites. I'm not at all aware that the 3DS is a lose-lose for Nintendo. From what I've seen (since the price drop, I'll give you that) 3DS has been doing quite well for Nintendo.
@Dreadjaws The analogy was only to illustrate the point that Nintendo is obviously choosing to focus their efforts on marketing one big title each week. Like I said before, it could be harder for a title like Ketzal or Colors to carve out a spot in the market if it's releasing alongside a highly coveted VC title.
That's the point I was making in #29, in #70 I'm pointing out that the price often reflects the value of the experience. A game on 3DS arguably delivers a better overall gaming experience than the same game on iOS. I hope that clears up the points I have been trying to make.
@SteveW Guess what, Titanic 3D is playing in IMAX for like $15 or you can go buy an old used VHS copy for 99 cents. The choice is yours, just as it is with a game on 3DS vs. iOS.
@grumblebuzzz Wrong. Does Hollywood release more than one "big" movie a week? No, and the reason why is because if they dilute the marketplace, they leave money on the table. Nintendo wants to promote Ketzal this week, that's the title they want to and need to push. What do you think will happen to it if it releases alongside Wario Land? Not as many people buy Ketzal.
@MrDanger88 How can the eShop be getting worse by adding new games? Did they remove all the older great and classic games that were there before? Just because Nintendo doesn't unleash all the most requested titles up front for all the fanboys to gobble up doesn't mean the eShop is getting worse.
Guys, the 3DS and the eShop are going to have a long lifespan. Nintendo needs to stretch releases out so that in five years they might still have something to release and continue to draw attention to their service. You all act like you could run Nintendo better than the professionals, but I seriously doubt it.
Calm down people. They're obviously releasing one "big" game a week. This week is Ketzal, last week was Colors. When they don't have a new eShop game to promote, they'll give us the VC goods. Is it really worth getting all upset about each and every week?
In all fairness to the people that dislike the controls, it is kind of a tricky control scheme, not traditional at all. But once you get the hang of it it becomes very natural and the game becomes much more enjoyable.
@Hejiru I tend to agree that the Hoenn speculation that ran rampant after B2W2 was announced got a little silly, and you're right on the money with what the colors signify. But I don't recall GameFreak ever responding to the Hoenn rumors officially. What was said, you've got me curious, could you link me to the story?
@NintendoKid85 Probably just start with Black or White. It's the latest and pretty easily accessable. Then again, if you start with Platinum you can then progress to HeartGold/SoulSiver and then to Black/White and catch just about all of 'em.
Nothing for me this week, but I hardly care, I've got Kid Icarus: Uprising to play! But if I do feel the urge to play something retro, I just nabbed Mario's Picross from Club Nintendo, so I'm good to go.
@Rapadash6 In all seriousness though, I too am disappointed at how far behind USA is falling in terms of GB games. I am looking forward to Wario Land and KI:OMAM. But until those come out, I do have lots of other games to keep me busy.
@MetalDragonZero Possibly so that players of White, for example, can pick up White 2 and be able to get the version exclusives that were not in White 1? Just a thought.
Looking forward to this, always enjoy a new pokémon game.
