Do you REALLY think this thing has the same sized dev team as (for example) odyssey? or even 1/10th of pikmin 4s team?

Let’s be honest here. It’s filler. Created by a small team to have something for Xmas. It will sell well, but it’s nowt new.

All their big teams are rather obviously working on the new console (whatever it may be).. this is end of console life stuff.

It’s like arguing that “furious 7” wasn’t a fast and furious movie, because it removed “fast and” from the title.

@ElRoberico : why would they use a modern engine, rather than porting the code? Why do people nowadays seem to think the only way to make a game is to use unity or unreal?

And the game uses sprites, no need to re rig anything.

If they still had the source models, they might’ve already have been in HD.. so this would’ve been a super quick easy port.

I’d imagine donkey Kong could be done same way.

New Mario and Mario rpg would have me interested if they weren’t priced so high. Neither worth it at that price imho.

And I can play Mario rpg for free with crappier graphics and imagine them higher res.

I I hope she’s kept abilities from ds game.. all based around her moodswings… anger, crying, etc.

It looks no different to other modern 2d mario games.. just with an elephant instead of giant mario and a minor gimmick for changing the world slightly.

It's obviously done on the cheap with a small dev team - while the big ones are off making games for the next gen.

$79.99 in Canada? Lol.. that’ll be a no then.. I’ll just play original again and imagine graphics.

The only game that interested me .. but as I already own it and completed it, on my snes mini.. it would have to be a decent price.

They’re just adding stuff to put in Mario maker 3.

At this point it’s fairly obvious they’re putting all their main dev work into a new console.

This is obviously a “gap filler” so they have something for Xmas, which doesn’t require too many developers.

I think they should add a “yeah!”, “whoooooop!”, etc soundtrack to directs.. so I know which games I should be excited about.

The ladies wearing black plastic and holding GameCubes, all look strangely embarrassed to be there.

As for “everyone pirating it” being ludicrous? Why?

And besides, you only need to look at the horrific modern pop music scene to know what happens when the majority of people pirate…

Pirating a game you really want to play is just dumb. If everyone did that, game makers would have no need or desire to make any more.

As for the argument “I wanted to play at 60fps”, zelda has absolutely zero need to play it at 60fps, it wouldn’t improve it from a gameplay point of view, in the slightest.

I’ve never managed to get into a Diablo game. The games are always too big, and I never have the time or energy.. then I lose track of story.

I might pick it up in winter when there’s nothing better to do in my life.

It’s Nintendo… it’ll be something totally unexpected. A console you control by clenching your keagal muscles and the screen is projected onto your bare chest, or something.

My rule of thumb, if everyone is telling you there’s no way nintendo will do something.. they’ll do it.

Im a prime member, so at the VERY LEAST I expected a MAX of 2 days delivery (which would've been fine as i dont have time to play until Saturday).

But May 16th?!?! Grr! I cant play games next week, and am going away for weekend with wife.. So I wont get a chance to play until June... Boo!

I'll just download it i think. I hate non-physical games.. But they've left me with no choice.. I'll see if i can find a discount somewhere for download version.

Well, I pre-ordered months ago.. And now Amazon is telling me i can expect it on the 16th. I've just checked bestbuy/walmart/gamestop/etc.. earliest they can get it for me is 20th.

So I guess I'll be cancelling pre-order and downloading it.

I still expect them to announce a new console not long after Zelda launch.. then tell us all the new one has an updated version of Zelda on it.. so we chumps all go out and buy the same game twice.

I can only talk from a (can’t think of the word) point of view here. But my friend tells me where he lives out there, every cinema was sold out.

And the only showing he could find available to take his family to was next monday at 8am.

Im sure after streaming/dvd/tv/etc - more people will have seen mario.

But it's all relative.. and as such, if you REALLY care about this stuff, then surely it only makes sense to compare against recent stuff.

Now - the next thing to argue about is "what is an animated movie anyway?" Is the lion king remake animated? Is Avatar 2? Is 99% of marvel movies?

@MontyCircus : Yip, but still.. most of the top animated films are still in the last few years.. so inflation doesnt really matter.

But I agree.. Still, I find it MORE interesting how excited people get about sales figures.. It's almost like something doing well justifies them liking the movie/game, or something

@RetroGames : I think it'll be "fun" to see how well GOG does next week.. We might see 2 movies staring the Pratt at #1 & #2.

@RetroGames : it did $14m in Japan this weekend and has now crossed $1b mark. It has also overtaken zootopia and is in the top 9 best box office for animated movies. At current rate, no reason to see why it won’t be in the top 5 after next weekend either.
