Re: Princess Peach: Showtime! Demo Now Available On The Switch eShop

@Clyde_Radcliffe : I don’t think it’s fair to call it shovelware. But I do find (based on demo alone), that it’s a bit patronizing simple just because it’s aimed at “young girls”.

Imho, it’s what old fat marketing men sat around a desk think young girls want, rather than what young girls want.

“Oh, yes, young girls like princesses, they like pink, they like to play dress up, and we want them to feel empowered and better than boys, so let’s give her a sword like a pirate, oh and martial arts, etc…. Hmm, what else do girls like? shoes? Cleaning? Oh, I know! Cooking!”

“let’s also give her tight trousers, just in case her brother is playing”….

“Oh yes, you’re a genius! We can just play dumb about that and say it’s about fashion.. girls like fashion…”

@Croctopus : I disagree it has to be like this because it’s targeted at young girls. My kids would tire of this as quickly as I did, I can’t even convince them to try it.

Imho it’s a bit patronizing to dumb a game down this much just because it’s “for kids” or “for girls”.

It’s the sort of game a well meaning gran will buy for a birthday, only for the child to pretend to enjoy everytime gran comes to visit…. While desperately waiting to play fortnite.

Re: Warner Bros. Doubles Down On Its Commitment To Live Service Games

@LikelySatan : Sorry, was purposefully not mentioning "The game which must not be named" (*) on here. Quidditch does seem hard to do. But they have pretty much everything already there to make a load of missions using existing assets.

A simple piece of DLC - That potion which enables you to turn into someone else, and access their dorm rooms, etc. So you can see/interact with other houses you didnt get to see in your initial play thru.

Then add missions off each house to be done while pretending to be that house person (sorry - I dont know the terms, my knowledge comes from watching films with my kids - and watching them play the game).

etc etc.. I mean, Im not a game designer, and I can come up with many simple to develop DLC's and missions which wont break the core game.

Not gonna be huge amounts of work - charge a few $. Reap rewards, rinse and repeat.

Then you have your "forever live" game...

But of course, that's not what they mean, they just mean easy to manage online stat driving borefests, loot crates, etc.

Heck, you could even add "loot crates" in the game as it is.. have an owl do a drop off, etc.

What about some post game missions, where whether you decided to play as good or evil changes the story in them, or opens up different options, etc etc?

Add some new spells/weapon types/costumes/etc.

It all seems very easy to me.. but what do i know?

    • im quite proud of that comment, I still can make amazing dad jokes.

Re: Hori Unveils Guitar Controller And 'Guitar Life: Lesson 1' For Switch

@Aventurier : hrmmm.. I’d be worried about it somehow stopping working… but yes, you are correct.. my brain doesn’t think about physical games any more.. and I’d have to get it for pc, as I don’t have the other formats for it.. which would require getting an external dvd drive…

So this is more appealing

Re: Super Mario Bros. Wonder Had No Deadline During Its Prototype Phase

Clammy

@Rainz : A prototyping stage of development with no deadline would either mean no deadline for the finished product - or extreme crunch to get it done for this xmas.

They dont have any other big releases for this xmas.. Then again, maybe they were keeping luigi's mansion remake or princess peach as backup plan?

I find it weird that a few commenters are posting "Well, they have to start somewhere" or "Im working on my first game, it might be crap", etc etc.

Well I can go out with my phone and make an awful film, with absolutely zero talent, maybe I'll just stitch together some public domain clips into it too, doesnt mean I should be able to shove it up on Disney +.

It's not the same as a respectable film maker making something which didnt succeed in being good, etc.

Re: Poll: What Review Score Would You Give Pikmin 4?

Clammy

I’m gonna give it a 6/10. That may change as I play it more.. but right now, too easy, too repetitive, too much talking, too much underground bits. And I’m just not finding it much fun.

I keep playing, because I liked the earlier games so much and I’m hoping it’ll get to point where I start having fun. But if this was my first Pikmin game, I would’ve stopped playing by now.

Re: Poll: What Review Score Would You Give Pikmin 4?

Clammy

I haven’t really played it enough to give a score. But after 6 hrs or so of play, I’m finding it too simplistic and easy.. and not really wanting to play on - not like I did with earlier games in series.

So I don’t know if I’ll bother playing enough to give it a score. Which I guess means I’d review it badly…

Also, while I love the overground visuals, the underground visuals are very basic and repetitive…
