Re: Stardew Valley Creator Reveals New Details About Version 1.6

I honestly wish he'd let his fantastic game go to the people who work for him now and focus on the new game. Stardew is a forever classic - it's earned it's place. Now go make chocolatier. If it sucks (and I am kind of assuming it does now since he isn't working on it) scrap it and re-tool.

Re: Nintendo Switch Online + Expansion Pack Gets A Tasty Limited Time Discount (UK)

If I wasn't already subbed to the family membership I'd jump on this. As a gamepass subber I think that NSO+ is the best of the bunch. You get bonafide classic games that you can play online for the first time ever, it's the cheapest of the three and the games never leave. There are as many hours in NSO+ as there are in the touted microsoft offering.

Sony's is so god awful it isn't in the conversation.

I'm working my way through Hi Fi Rush on the series X. If any game on the other consoles needs a Switch port - this is the game. It's great but it feels like a natural fit for the Switch's audience.

Lots of Street Fighter 6. I'm trying to improve by hitting the practice room. I rarely have the patience to sit in a blank room and hit combos but SF6 is inspiring me to get better. It's the best fighter I've ever played.

I'm traveling today so I'm looking forward to playing Zelda: The Minish Cap tonight. Collaboration games with big Nintendo IPs usually end up so well done - I wish we'd see more of them. My dream matchup would be Platinum Games doing an action game with some big Nintendo property like Mario.

Re: Percentage Of Female Managers At Nintendo Hasn't Improved, Despite Pledges

I think gender should always be a factor in hiring because females are nice to be around during the day. I picture hanging out with all dudes at work every day and it bums me out. I went to an all boys military school - we act like animals when we don't have ladies to balance out our debased nature.

Is that chauvinistic? I don't care.

tldr: Women and men are good for each other because human beings are strange animals.

Re: Talking Point: What Makes A Good Sidequest, Anyway?

@Cordyceps My hatred was born from an old passion. I literally bought anything with their name on from about FF7 to FF13. For years and years. Not just Final Fantasy - every game they made.

The loathing came from the CONSTANT remakes on every platform and everyone just lapping it up like they were doing us a favor. The fire grew bright after one miss after another. Now they just chase whatever trend is going on at the moment. Like the splatoon rip with Fortnite faces. No talent. Their best game of the past decade was made by Platinum - Neir. Their second best game of the decade will be a remake by Nintendo - Mario RPG.

Re: Talking Point: What Makes A Good Sidequest, Anyway?

@Cordyceps a certain degree? People rationalize their failures like no other company in video games.

Hence my negative bias. I REALLY dislike Square Enix and I enjoy watching them flail around. The last game I bought was Neo: The World Ends With You. It was so soulless and bad. I was such a nut for the original game I asked myself, "Why do I give these hacks opportunities? They aren't worth my money."

SE gets a built in bias for reviews. Nostalgia and their horrid art design and their hackneyed music. So if it reviews an 8? It's really a 6.

Re: Talking Point: What Makes A Good Sidequest, Anyway?

Obviously this was written because of how dismal FFXVI's sidequests are.
For me I like a bevy of difficulties - from the 'get three of these' to very complicated that might need a guide. Side quests should offer something in the way of story. Witcher 3 is great in this regard. And make it worth it. Some item that can add power or something new to gameplay.

Re: Japan's Switch Sales In June Were Reportedly A Record High For The Console

Cashews

@Waluigi451 When you are destroying the competition to this degree it would be a tactical error to take your foot off of the gas. Since the PS1 was released, which I would consider the entry to the modern era of gaming, Nintendo hasn't led like this on a tv console.

So instead of letting Sony figure out how to take market share back you can release a new console to twist the knife already placed in their sternum.

Otherwise console selling has always bee: you go> now I go > now you > now me. I wouldn't do that I would do everything in my power to destroy my rivals and put everyone out of work.

Re: Nintendo 2023 Annual Report Reveals Director Salaries Are Still Modest For The Industry

In 2021 Kotick made $850,000. Stock compensation is not salary. What has Nintendo execs made in stock dividends and distributions? Most of the money he is making is from the acquisition by MS. He has deferred salary for stock options for the big payoff. He has worked over 10 years to make this singular deal happen. His entire career at Activision is solely to make the company more attractive for a potential buyer. That's it.

Re: UK Charts: For Goodness Sake, Zelda: TOTK Is Number One Again

Cashews

@UltimateOtaku91 I imagine all of their hopes are on this game or not - knowing square they are. They said they were nervous about pre-order numbers. Now we know why.

Personally I'd call 50% of the numbers of the previous game - which is almost universally hated - a bomb.

Then again, maybe all media is in a bad rut. Movies are doing terrible. Those are going to fundamentally change soon (I think for the better). My hope is games don't just go into this remakes cycle. It feels like it's going that way and people are happy about it.

Re: Poll: What's Your Game Of The Year Of 2023 So Far?

Cashews

For the Switch it is Bayonetta Origins. I didn't and won't play TotK unless it hits $30 or $40 one day in the far flung future so I can't judge it.

For other systems Hi Fi Rush and Street Fighter 6 are the best I've played this 1st half of the year.

People putting up remakes they like as goty material is as ridiculous as it is embarrassing.

Re: Nintendo "Currently Have No Specifics To Share" About Other Legacy Platforms For Switch Online

While I'd love to see the Gamecube on the system the people I see complaining about it the most are the people complaining about the service in general. "They won't get ANYTHING until I get gamecube games - until then I will steal games until they make it right the *****!!!" If they released the entire gamecube catalog today under the expansion they find another excuse to steal the games.

next gen I expect to see them. In the meantime I have about 6000 hours of gameplay to catch up with on the current services.

@masterLEON BC was one of the biggest factors in my purchase of the X over the PS5. I bought a ton of gameroom games myself. I am fairly certain they are gone into the ether - never to return. I really enjoyed gameroom - but it seems to be a financial dud for ms.

BC will be a huge factor in whether or not I get the next Nintendo early in it's cycle.
