Re: Japanese Charts: Diablo IV Dominates The Top Ten, But Can't Topple Zelda: TOTK

@FirstEmperor For reasons I stated above - I am not positive it didn't. I don't know how Japan's retail works - if it is anything like NPD reporting here in the States - where they only count the physicals - I imagine the real numbers (digi + physical) are vastly under-represented in this list. Japan loves Street Fighter. Japan is Street Fighter.

@Darthmoogle I went to famitsu to see if they included digitals (still not sure) and read this in their article:
" The XSX version has been released with software bundled with the main unit, and has contributed greatly to hardware sales."

I guess that explains it. People liked the bundle.

Such a slow week. "Somewhere in suburbia is an unspoiled patch of greenery, a little slice of paradise...And starting today, it's your very own golf course!"

That line is really depressing. Take a slice of paradise and ruining it with a golf course. Manufactured nature. Bleech.

After purchasing Street Fighter 6 this week I think I know what's going on with this game. I searched all over my greater city area - of 7 million people - for the physical. It is almost impossible to find. I spoke to a retail (big box) employee and he said they only got ONE copy on release day. I found it but it honestly took a while and I had to drive pretty far to grab it.

I think Capcom wants the box displayed there as an ad - but they don't want to sell the box - they want you to buy the digital.

Re: Hands On: Prince Of Persia: The Lost Crown Is Dread-ful, In The Best Possible Way

@Saturn64 I'd just move on then. It takes all of 30 seconds to realize the hero in this isn't the Prince. It says so right in the trailer. A bunch of heroes set out to SAVE THE PRINCE OF PERSIA.

and as for the music - yeah it sucks. It is promo music for a gd ad. The game itself might have twinkly middle eastern music for all we know.

self inflicted outrage is unbearable.

Re: Switch Online N64 Controller Restocks Coming Later This Week

As it turns out - I spent more time checking Nintendo's page to find one of these things than I actually do using the controller. It took me over year - sometimes checking the page multiple times a day- to find one.

Once I did - it largely sits there like a trophy no one acknowledges. My kid was organizing our game space just last night to make room for our brand new Series X and she asked if she could put the giant controller away. My response: "It took me a year to get that thing, No." i think she was right and I am dumb.

Re: Feature: Nintendo Fans Needn't Lose Sleep Over Foamstars, Square Enix's 'Splatoon Rip-Off'

@Fiskern the foam is instead their Splatoon/Fortnite mashup.

This is what SE does now. They sit in a boardroom and spitball how they can capitalize on the ideas of much better and endlessly more talented developers. "What is most popular right now?" "How about if we just made Splatoon and Fortnite...BUT TOGETHER."

But instead of copying well - using the old adage 'the sincerest form of flattery" - the end product is subpar. Not even subpar standards really.

Re: Mailbox: Welcome To The Nintendo Life Letters Page!

Maybe low art - like 1960s sad clown art. But there has never been a game that isn't derivative of another better form of art. I can think of only one game out of the 1000s created over time that combines emotion, storytelling purely through art - Shadow of the Colossus. It is the only one that comes to mind. The Secret World and other Funcom games try and succeed now and then - in small doses.

There are plenty of games that reach young adult status but nothing beyond that. Even the oft explored science fiction in gaming doesn't have any particularly good story crafting. Just common, save the world against this threat or explore and find this mean monster tripe.

Some cool visuals for sure. But the kind you find at at comic con booth.

I can't see it getting beyond that really.

Re: Japanese Charts: Nintendo Cleans Up As Zelda Continues To Dominate

@johnvboy Nintendo doesn't understand the market any more than Sony or MS do. You think they are geniuses and Microsoft is dumb? okay.

I'm not backing anything I love Nintendo and want them to knock it out of the park on the next console. I have no faith they will be able to. I don't have faith in any company to know what consumers are going to do 100%. Gaming specifically is a big gamble all of the time.

Re: Japanese Charts: Nintendo Cleans Up As Zelda Continues To Dominate

@johnvboy I don't know why I got so many responses. I thought what I said was pretty basic. I wasn't speaking in absolutes.

The Wii U was a dud. The Gamecube was a dud. If the next console is a Switch 2 it will be a dud. Because all of the casuals, the ones that allow you to sell 100M+ units, will be happy with their Switch 1 for another decade.

That is all.

@Ulysses there have been some upstarts trying to make a move at MH's throne. My bet is they go super high res on the next game and skip Nintendo. Unless Nintendo goes reasonably higher during the next console round.

It would be funny, and delight me, if Nintendo announced an exclusive AI partnership with Nvidia and rolled out the first true killer app for VR. Release rollout with VR Mario. The first major 3rd party was you as a 1st person Hunter.
