@Splatburst Haha yeah that's the problem! Problem is I would have loved it when younger with more time but it's hard to play grindy games on home consoles with so many other options! I'm 50 hours into XCX, 40 into Fallout 4 and only about 10 into Witcher 3 (got it late in a sale!), so many good long games, but I know I'll never finish all of them! Managed to get TTYD on eBay last year for £30, only started that one as well so I will play through! Damn, wish I had this problem as a kid!
Pretty cool if true. Would like a solid 25-40 hour max RPG; after last year I'm feeling burnt out on these 80+ hour home console games I'm never going to see an ending to!
Yeah that was bound to happen. I'm never caught up about localisations and can certainly see why this has gone.. Though I do wonder why Nintendo and it's partners don't think globally about these things in the initial build. Considering their market is a global one it would make sense.
I buy Amiibo as I feel they are worth the price alone for the figures, I have them out open and only buy my favourites, a few I have probably bought partly for the content unlock and a few extra I have are because they are easy presents for my family to get me. I actually don't mind that content may be locked behind, as long as I know beforehand I can make a fair conscious decision on the matter. I have Skylanders Supercharged with just the Amiibo ones, I accept I currently can't play water sections and challenge areas, I knew that beforehand and made that decision. We are all consumers, we choose to buy and I'm generally happy with the price I pay and the value I get from both games and Amiibo.
Got mine, I'll unlikely use him for shovel knight as I'll unlikely ever get back to it but I just love the character and the Amiibo. Figured YCG could have more of my money!
Why ever be sad about games? Games are for fun, if I don't find new ones fun, I play old ones... Or something else... Maybe Monopoly... Maybe TV. Never see the point in angry ranting about a hobby that brings pleasure!
Good idea, managed to get both sets (Wii u & 3ds) for £50 combined so was happy with that, but this is certainly useful, I have little desire to play the 3ds game when I have Mario Kart 7 sitting there on my console.
Would definitely put Code Name Steam and Steamworld Heist high on any of my lists this year... Helped that I played on New 3DS. I want to get more time on XenobladeX, just 12-15 hours in, post Xmas I'll be able to get back into it hopefully. Box Boy was definitely a favourite as well, also Fullblox was great. Fast is so addictive and is the main reason my Xeno time has struggled! Been pretty happy with this year all in all.. A few let downs, but I've been occupied plenty!
@Spoony_Tech That's a shame, only played at experienced mostly (a few harder for exp) so a run at the top level should be fun; the mostly random rooms has kept my happy getting 3 stars.
Actual is my game of the year, I think. Hard to judge between such varying genres but I've been hardly able to put it down and I've got so many other games to play; also, can see myself replaying on the higher difficulties and NG+, believe I'm on the final boss atm!
All I'll say is I have a PS4, I wouldn't need another one. Personally I love that Nintendo thinks outside the box, even if it doesn't work all the time, you've got to try. Just hope the innovations are more about gaming and less 'social features' (Miiverse/Share Button meh); social gaming for me will always be local... But then I'm not a social media fan much! Social tangent over, just give me something I don't expect... Though Zelda in 5k 60fps won't go amiss, I mean, I'd need a new tv but still!
@rjejr Yeah I've seen the odd Skylanders before and never thought they were that bad! Still.. Looking forward to rampaging with DK and Bowser at Xmas in the Wii u version, only heard good things about that... The warning sign for the 3ds/Wii version is that there is barely a review out there!
@rjejr I believe it's pretty much a stretched out 3ds upgrade, I got that set on the cheap as I wanted bowser as I'm getting the Wii u one for Xmas too. The 3ds one is pretty blurry as it is, no where near Mario Kart 7! Also, made me realise what good quality (most) Amiibo are, Hammer Slam Bowser is a shoddy paint job mess in comparison! On topic, FAST runs so well, only noted one small drop myself in a pile up situation. Love the difficulty as well, just unlocked hypersonic.
Only played the first level so far but already know I'm gonna love this. Also very much agree with their sentiments. I'd take many more games like this then the identikit 'AAA' games we see too often.
@Peach64 Same happened to me, tbf it was a ridiculously good deal (and still is a good deal) but it was a stupid error as it was itemised on the bill as well, definitely feel they should have taken the blow.
Phoned in. Game has never been on my radar (yes I'm one of those who has never played it), but this news certainly makes the extra $s seem unnecessary. Sure people will enjoy anyway and good on them.
Great interview. I remember getting Steamworld on sale as a punt (and the great reception it had!) from then on I decided that great games deserved to be bought at a decent price, so this'll be a buy on Thursday. Of course he's right though and with such an attitude fans have they have to release good games if people are going to take such risks. Bring on the best day in eshop history!
FAST and Steamworld for me. Great that these guys are organised to have you guys able to review prerelease, however, bar game breaking bugs I feel i'll be downloading no matter what..
Wow at that price I genuinely feel like I'm getting it at a steal! That's theoretically great value for this game, this is putting most other Retail games to shame it feels like and I'm getting it for £10.99! Reckon I'll buy one for my only other Wii U friend as well, Shinen deserve the money.
I'm in. Love an early adopter discount, think it's a smart approach that increases word of mouth; free themes are sweet too! Some people will always wait for sales and fair play to them (I used to but thanks to NL I get too hyped!), but if Image and Form proved something to me with Dig, it's that they deserve every penny!
Xenoblade and Paper Jam physical for me this week, so I'll download Picross for the free play. While there's other stuff there is like, I know it'd be silly to buy as my time will be occupied with X and will only be broken by Fast.
I think this also shows that AC will remain primarily a handheld brand, considering that City Folk supposedly flopped and yet a spin off on 3ds can sell ridiculous amounts, I think they know where their audience is. I really don't think an AC (main line) would sell much on such a small install base.
Bought this for the girlfriend, she enjoys it.. May have to make the Game Store though. Maybe I could make it like Game and have one tiny Wii U stand...
I have it and agree. In the uk at least with some discount I had I got it for £20, wouldn't have paid more though. Some really baffling omitions from the package, even I can't work out if you can even play local doubles against cpu and the same with amiibo. The laziness is beyond anything if expect of most games companies, let alone Nintendo. The core is solid and for what I bought it for (4 player local) it'll be a great laugh... But it really doesn't offer much to anyone looking for anything else. For £20 I'm happy, for Americans here I'd wait till you can get it $30 or less. I've never been one to criticise Nintendo, or claim 'faith' in companies, but one thing I can say is that this game does not feel complete and that is not something I thought I'd say about a full price retail product release. 1P: 2/10 2P: 6/10 4P: 8/10

Think I'll get 1080 and Wave Race, have them both on my still active GameCube, but never had the N64 games so would enjoy these on gamepad I reckon.
