Re: Poll: The Tricky Issue of Retail Games as Download-Only Releases

BrizzoUK

@invictus4000 Yeah it's the one thing really holding me back, I like having games digital now, I like the ease of access... However, it really would mean getting less games unless the prices drop. Also some games just don't lend to replaying (some 100+ hour RPGs etc), trading in I can usually get most of the money back (sometimes more if I find a good deal to begin with). Not great for publishers, but certainly takes away game options.

Re: Poll: The Tricky Issue of Retail Games as Download-Only Releases

I do like the advantage of returning a game I don't like/get on with, it allows me to take risks; managed to snag a limited ed Project Zero and I know it'll keep value if I don't enjoy it. Kinda feel all digital will happen eventually, if not this next generation then the one after. However, there are many issues in pricing that will need to be sorted, I assume and hope an all digital will aim for cheaper prices with high attach rates... Dlc and micro transactions aren't disappearing but if people enter at say £20, they may be more willing to accept this. Of course, there are many many issues that will occur because of this though.

Re: Yacht Club Games Issues an Update on Shovel Knight at Retail

BrizzoUK

Fair enough I guess. The game has been out for a while so it's not like most people who wanted it wouldn't already have it, the hardcore waiting for the physical are already paying more than the download so it's not like there isn't choice if you baulk at the increase. Also, I assume the point was to have visibility, having it in the bargain bin section wouldn't look great!

Re: Mario Tennis: Ultra Smash Will Be Served Up in North America on 20th November

@ACK
Tried a demo at their summer tour with some friends, was a good laugh. It isn't going to reinvent anything and I imagine it won't be packed full of modes, but will be a fun local multiplayer I imagine. I've never bought a Mario Tennis so don't have any history with the series, but I'm still marginally looking forward to it; I'll mostly be playing ps4 until this and XCX (well and fatal frame), but the real lack of local multiplayer this winter on all fronts makes this a buy for me.

Re: Reminder: It's Super Mario's 30th Anniversary

BrizzoUK

@ChessboardMan That happened to me, they didn't even get back to me so I just downloaded and cancelled my order, I always wanted the game as a DL, but wanted the tshirt amiibo combo. Pretty annoyed as they've always been great for me before.

Re: Mario History: Super Mario Maker - 2015

BrizzoUK

Love the app itself, I do worry that 100 Mario expert wil be beyond me as I don't have the patience to constantly swipe so I don't get killed in the 1st second by a troll level, the experience is akin to chat roulette... You generally get unlucky!

Re: Guide: 8 Tips to Become an Expert Level Designer in Super Mario Maker

BrizzoUK

I can see other people feel the same, but playing 100 Mario feels like a Mario version of Tinder, constantly swiping left to get rid of all the awful level designs. That and all the auto plays that rank at the top! I want to PLAY Mario, not be accosted by Bowsers or 'Just press nothing'. Otherwise great game, just this is why I'm not a fan of community built gaming, glad NL has it's upload section here, we can band together and actually play Mario!

Re: Competition: Showcase Your Best Super Mario Maker Level At EGX

BrizzoUK

I would consider entering if only the UK Store decided they wanted to post my order! They've always been really good, but for some reason haven't even dispatched today... Anyone else had this problem? I'm sad to say at least I have a ps4 (MGSV & Tearaway to play), however, feels wrong that I won't get to play Maker on the anniversary weekend. 1st world worries.

Re: GAME Processes Additional Charges on Super Mario Maker Pre-Orders

BrizzoUK

Having previously worked in a UK bank for 5 years I can safely say this'll be a nightmare to reconcile for people who go beyond authorised overdrafts, such as spiralling fees of up to £25 a day. I imagine most will have to go in personally (or call) to hopefully get it acknowledged as not being their fault and of course to ensure it doesn't damage their credit rating. Nightmare situation. Bad press.

Re: Review: Mario Golf (Wii U eShop / N64)

BrizzoUK

@JaxonH Completely agree, feels like the definitive version of MG as well. Didn't appreciate the DLC being day one, yet I couldn't argue with the added content, think I've sunk about 130 hours into the game (which is a lot for me - I buy too many!), I've only played more of FE:A and AC:NL On 3DS.

Re: Nintendo Download: 10th September (Europe)

BrizzoUK

Would have liked to get SMM digitally as it'll be a great pick up and play (I have MK8 and Smash digital) but got too tempted by the amiibo and T Shirt combo! It's this and Tearaway Unfolded for me this week... My this is an expensive time! MGSV ate my weekend and I'm only 6% in; not enough time!

Re: Guide: 9 Tips for Playing Runbow

BrizzoUK

@13AM_Alex Just wanted to thank you for such a great game. Also I haven't experienced any issues yet and I've played for over 6 hours. The options involved are great and I've currently only got the Fun setting to 'Yes'.

Re: Video: Even Reggie Is Crazy About Runbow

BrizzoUK

Runbow is great... Personally not being great at platformer some of the adventure levels have trolled me though! However, while I haven't got to play it locally, the online was a great frenetic experience. I do worry for the servers in future mind.

Re: Devil's Third Fails to Hit UK Top 40 in Poor Week for Nintendo Titles

BrizzoUK

@Boxmonkey Same here. I've always been biased towards making a Nintendo purchase over any other and was interested in this, however, coming out near MGSV it didn't make it a hard choice and I've never played a full MGS (only GZ on ps+ which sold it to me). I wish there was a demo 'test fire', that would surely sway if it was any good, as I don't have a decent PC I couldn't test this on there either.

Re: Preview: Getting Inside The Curiously Undemanding World Of Animal Crossing: Happy Home Designer

BrizzoUK

@JaxonH Same here. I think I'll enjoy it as a relaxing option... As long as I avoid the amiibo cards, that cost of going back to blind packet card collecting would be painful! At 26 in the UK I don't feel I'd find many (any) people to trade with!! If I don't love it, I know my partner will while I'm enjoying the single player offerings on PS4/WiiU... If anything it'll allow me more game time!

Re: Nintendo Confirms Super Mario Maker Console Bundle and Key Release Dates for North America and Europe

BrizzoUK

@JaxonH I game because it's fun (or tense/challenge if it's a survival horror etc) and therefore as I choose to as an optional hobby I feel no need to moan.
I actually now look for some shorter games to play and will pay full price (just ordered Until Dawn) as there are just too many to play that I want to! I've only racked up 30 hours in MH4U, I don't feel like I haven't got money's worth as I haven't invested the 300 plus recommended time to get its 'true' value I may get from delving into the multiplayer. Yet I've racked up 100 hours in Splatoon. What my rambling is trying to say is, you get the value you want out of it, that is surely why we game, we may want things to be cheaper (who doesn't), but this race to the bottom will only ruin our future experiences (look at all the previous great devs leaving console gaming).

Re: Nintendo Confirms Super Mario Maker Console Bundle and Key Release Dates for North America and Europe

BrizzoUK

@JaxonH I have to commend your ability to talk absolute rational sense on gaming throughout comment feeds on NL and PS. It's incredibly refreshing. Pricing and the value of gaming is an issue I have and it seems crazy to me to devalue one product by the increased value of another. If we want gaming to maintain a freshness that isn't rehash after rehash we have to pay for our niche, in the right way. Logically gaming should cost more now, but it doesn't. I remember paying £60 for N64 games, probably the equivalent of £90 now. There also so many other issues involved in the matter. Anyway, I appreciate your staunch non-partisan approach to all aspects of gaming conversation.
