It's ironic that preorder bonuses and other such incentives are more likely to put me off of a game. I just see it as content locking others in general and it sours me towards purchasing at a later date. That being said, DLd PXZ1 for £6 and have barely touched it, if I get round to playing this it'll probably be when it's that cheap again.
Affordable Space Adventure my number 1, followed by Runbow. Most of my other favourites on that list I have on 3ds (Steamworld, Shovel, Shantae)... Have Scram Kitty... It angers me. I need to be better at it!
Managed to get Mario Tennis retail for £22 with some discounts I had, so happy with the game at that price. Might get Typoman, haven't played but did download the demo so may give it a shot. Never played Wild World as I vowed off of AC after the GameCube as it ruined my chance of playing many games instead (safe to say I broke that with New Leaf and 200 hrs later...), however, am not one for playing DS on WiiU.
@rjejr Yeah that makes so much sense doing it that way, I need to just stay away from hype sometimes to take advantage of ps discounts. Fair enough, that's responsible parenting! Haha yeah you don't want to have to share it... Just pass them the gamepad and you can play away! Such a great selling point for families.
@rjejr Yeah that is stupid, big companies everywhere soak up the credit card fees, it's crazy Sony won't. Yeah I was reluctant with ps+ but rocket league alone feels like it was worth it (not quite, but it helps), got a great discount on Witcher 3 (again haven't played it much though!), so these things if you're a heavy user can work out good. A fixed fee and maybe having unlocked VC would be awesome, maybe with the odd indie/bad Nintendo game chucked it would certainly be a winner in my eyes. Again I barely play the free ps+ games, but having them gives a certain value and allows you to try new things... You should definitely bite on a ps4 in a Black Friday sale (if you're brave enough), next year is looking good and with a most likely transition year with Nintendo would be perfect timing. I like the idea from my own selfish perspective of Nintendo and PlayStation having 2-3 years between their launches, from a business standpoint for them it might not work out, however, it means they both get their best games (peak years) at different times.
@rjejr Agreed, it does hurt when bring multi platform I see a PS+ sale that does the reverse and take 80% off, I bought Cel Damage HD for pretty much no reason than the fact I once had it on GameCube (or was bad then too!)... No regrets, it was like £2, they weren't getting that money otherwise. Bandai Namco's Nintendo sale was good recently, again barely played it but got Project X Zone on 3DS for £6, that to me is a bargain... But I'll probably never play it much and yet wouldn't have bought it if it wasn't on sale. We like a bargain and will buy stuff we normally wouldn't at a heavy discount. If something is 20% off I'll likely already have it at full price if I'm ever going to buy it (I think that made sense!).
@rjejr Haha no I agree, I give Nintendo and gaming in general enough of my money, they'd never get cash from me on this! He mentioned SMM to me the other day as well, it would definitely make sense as an app and if it was more generous in its free side it could work seriously well as a marketing app. It's currently just geared for short term profit not overall brand promotion. And we both know Nintendo never do discounts... If they did it'd be 5% off max!
@Sakura @rjejr I am so close to putting 90p in just in the hope he'll be really happy that I've done it. I feel I'll log on after a month of not putting money in and he'll be curled in a corner with a newspaper keeping him warm as he couldn't pay the business rates.
@rjejr Splatoon!
Got the badge arcade in EU yesterday; that bunny is such a great talker. He should front a Xmas campaign for Nintendo, just honestly explaining how businesses operate... He could front Directs, I'd trust him to sell me 1 copy of FE for the price of 3.
@rjejr Splatoon is up for Shooter though. Would be good for the industry if it won and with the likes of Overwatch and Battle-born due next year colourful shooters may become a thing.
@rjejr That would make a great game, Mario chasing him down and the Rabbit giving the sad face asking for money so he can run faster to stop him becoming rabbit and mushroom stew.
@rjejr that rabbits time in Europe seems to have rubbed off in the US, I loved that he could guilt you in the US but over here he had to be nice about not buying his games. It would be the most honest marketing campaign with him in charge. It would be 'The Invention of Lying' style "buy Pepsi.. When you can't get Coke'.
@rjejr That Monk will be the inspiration for Miyamoto's next game. I really wish they would market here... At all. The U.K. has been Nintendo barren for years and without being a fan who seeks information you wouldn't know anything. Sony pretty much understand you can sell anything with a proper marketing budget, pretty much every prime time ad break has a PlayStation advert, I think the last one I saw for Nintendo there was a 64 in the title. Which at least makes this conversation relevant for this Rextro64rus article. Maybe he could be Nintendo's new marketing manager?
@rjejr Agreed. I think I'll miss the speculation if it gets dated tonight, this speculation has been a year long circular 'discussion' on the WiiU/NX agenda, if they confirmed it will only ever be WiiU (which they'd never do), I'll await a good Talking Point on the potential for NX to launch with no killer game! That'll keep us all talking for a while.
Yeah probably worth a wait for me, unless it can be got at a bargain price early on I don't think I'll fit it in (it is Fallout release today after all). Still got Project Zero waiting to be played and that was my recent gamble, and I don't think I can make myself master another dodgy camera game (I hate that we still get these issues, this was a problem I thought would eventually be solved... I've been waiting since the n64 days).
Was one platform we too far for me. Over the last few years I've bought most games Nintendo produce and I had a preorder for this, however, it just didn't have enough different for me to want it. I bought Project Zero, that was something different, I even happily play Triforce single player, that is very different!(good or bad) definitely feel being another platformer has hurt it, when great indie offerings are cheap or for a premium you can buy some of the best, mechanically sound ones platformer a from the Big N.
Fallout has my money this week, however, may soon get Rodea, if it reviews well and I can get the Wii copy as well. Can definitely recommend Affordable at the more affordable price... Was worth it before but great value for what I would argue is one of the most WiiU unique games and a great co-op adventure.
Happy birthday! Big fan of the site since I joined, it's helped refuel my love of gaming which had waned over my late teens/early twenties. Keep up the great work!
@Xenocity Sometimes a change of pace can be fun: games for all occasions. I also don't buy that this has taken much time away from a wii u crossing, let's be honest, that was never getting made with such a small install base and the failure of City Folk on a massive install base and a probably more animal crossing inclined audience. This game seems to have been cobbled in a few months and I don't mean that as a bad thing, if I bought this (which I'm very much undecided) I'd be buying with the knowledge I will also be soon getting XCX from Nintendo, a game that'll sell less and cost ten times (50 times?!) more.
@Xenocity Thanks for the link on the play through, I genuinely like the look of the desert island game; also appreciate you sticking up for the game... I'm beyond calling any consumer product a cash grab, that's pretty much the definition of consumerism. I enjoy a good computer board game, they aren't standard computer games, but why hate on them? Good laugh with non-gaming mates (which most of mine are).
I'm definitely liking the sound of this, alot of these features on the ps4 work really well and am happy to see Nintendo finally attempt a modern interconnected infrastructure.
I think it's a smart move when you come at it from a Japanese, not Western perspective. Japan loves mobile and still love Nintendo, mix that with an introverted society and they seem to be on to a winner. I'm glad the rest will be paid for apps, but this will be an intriguing oddity for my ridiculous overpriced phone i'm currently typing on.
I like the game, it's just a shame that it is hard to play at is full potential. Thankfully I've ended up with 3 2/3DS's so I can at least on occasion play it the way it is meant to. Also, I love the Pom-poms.
Had fun with the Triforce so far, pretty happy with the purchase, shame the single player isn't great, but was never expecting it to be, like many other multiplayer focused games.
Will try the Chibi Robo Demo, have got The Project Zero Retail, feel it'll at least have great resale value if I don't like it (was more expensive than I'm comfortable paying for such a game).
