Tried at ManchesterUK Tour yesterday along with Ultra Smash (also got myself a few pin badges!), very excited for both... Ultra smash was a great laugh with 3 other friends, isn't going to reinvent anything but is solid fun. Mario Maker feels like there's nothing to say, it's gonna be what you make of it, but I can certainly see the appeal of challenging friend to complete levels you make and passing the controller. While I'm not creative I'll love failing horribly at the ones all you pros make!
@MeddlingIdiot Thanks for the heads up. It'll probably be a ghost town quite quickly then! I kinda feel they probably should have made this f2p on WiiU like PC it charge small for the SP mode, a bit like Ironfall. Could have been braver and at least fostered an online community.
@rjejr Agreed. Although if it gives someone an advantage I'd be irked, that's acceptable in a free game, however, feels like the U owners are really paying for the SP and a few golden eggs to start. Also, playing against PC (I assume this is cross platform?!) aren't we likely to be annihilated by mighty mouse warriors? Us Nintendo fans can only jump left to right after all...
I rarely play shooters anymore (splatoon aside), however, I was always willing tog ice this a chance as I know MP is usually the heart of it and it sounded quirky and different. Yet the microtransactions bit really turns me off, if we aren't competing on a level playing field I'll just die often and get bored (I'll admit I'm a pretty average jack-of-all-trades gamer!). Didn't see it get mentioned, but do we know if this has local? That would save it and I don't currently have a proper local shooter for the U (I imagine it'd run at 10fps though!). Also on a side note, the official UK Store have finally acknowledged its existence with a TShirt bundle for £40... Reckon that means the discount online stores will have it for £27 hopefully.
Agree they need to have larger hard drive space, however, I imagine they envisage the ones most likely to want this game already have the extra storage space as they are likely to be commited to the download scene already. Very interesting approach by Nintendo, and if it means more risky games getting released I'm all for it.
One of my most anticipated games. Genuinely can't wait. This gen I have found myself buying more 'indies' (kinda hate that distinction mind) then I ever actually did non-Nintendo games before (I've always owned Playstation as well). The gap they fill where pure fun is the focus is really what I look for in a game.
Blew my final load on this guy. Only a pointless 250 stars left. I guess he can keep me safe from my Majora's Mask Lamp. After 43,000 stars, it's been emotional CN.
@Pigeon Yeah I agree. I do see potential in there more willingness to loan out IP To 3rd parties (Skylanders and Hyrule and the rumours regarding wanting Criterion for F Zero). We know first party IP sells and Nintendo can't service all those fan bases, therefore 3rd parties realise risk is mitigated if there are likely to sell £500k plus
@JaxonH Agree completely, I wouldn't be excited if I knew we were getting the same as all the rest, what's the point? It's like politics, one party loses and will immediately swallow the manifesto of the winning party, you end up not actually having any choice and just more of the same!
@rjejr It feels valid, Dan Brown is fact after all. I sense no virus, however, I now have a Captain Falcon Yoshi... I feel this game justifies amiibo now.
@rjejr 'Well that's a whole lot better than Oct 16. ' Just checked my email, YWW is waiting for me at home (Nintendo UK store always send way early ironically)... I can't wait to hear all the different European accents Yoshi has that you Americans are protected from. I do remember being excited at finding a US import of PokemonRuby which US got ages before UK, however, I don't feel comfortable us getting it before Japan, NoJ is up to something... Maybe the Wooly Amiibo have a built in virus that'll excile us for good?
After making me not suck at an online shooter (Splatoon), I'm all for gyro. Would, however, enjoy the old school approach to relive 64 style (again!) as this will I imagine require many playthroughs for true value.
@rjejr 'why release such an obvious Christmas game in June anywhere else?' Xmas in the UK, at least, is all about guns in your stockings, we don't get them in real life here so they just go all festive with COD through the holiday. My partner is a teacher at a primary school and she asked why a kid was so tired (6/7 year old), asked if was staying up late, the dad's response was 'well sometimes they watch me play call of duty, do you think that's a problem?'. Yoshi's got nothing on an Uzi.
@rjejr Yeah that's probably the case, however, UK is online shooter/FIFA only, guessing they couldn't pull that trick as their market share here isn't exactly large! Haha I'd love for some yoshi with regional accents... Either that or they got that poor woman in the Direct knitting all off the amiibos for launch in both territories (if she makes 1 a day between now and October that'll be enough for NA launch surely).
Can't put myself through this on 3ds, got about 70 hours in and while fun, was way too much grinding and repetition to ever get near to really completing all the dlc content.
@ShanaUnite As they didn't retail it over here (don't know if that's the case with EO) they aren't undercutting any physical stock sales. Plus they just clearly like to take advantage of sale publicity! I'm gutted, I got it at £11!
@manu0 The Wooly Amiibo are retailing for roughly £20, so guess that would explain. I do know some places in UK that do the bundle for £47, but I assume that would be close to same after exchange to euro...
@McoobabWATP Don't panic if you miss SMT on sale, it's on sale more often than sofas are at DFS (apologies if you're not UK, that reference might go amiss!)
@rjejr £35 is our budget retail, £50 our standard (on eshop)... Physical we can usually get for £25 budget and £35/£40 standard at retail. For £76 you can be a tool like me and buy the triple amiibo YWW pack on the Nintendo UK Online Store. Just hope the fiancée doesn't ever realise how much they cost... Said hers was the pink one and she seemed happy. Still don't know why US got conned on the Splatoon price front.
Will end up getting most, however, after playing xenoblade on the n3ds I'm looking forward to X, a good meaty game. However, very excited for yoshi but as that's next week for me (sorry NA!).
@rjejr Yeah I do get afraid of hooking them up, don't have a CRT anymore (I was naive in the HD change and didn't think of ever wanting to replay old game...). Only game I can cope with on my HD that is SD is Epic Yarn that I recently downloaded in prep for Wooly World (much like Nintendo, I phased out of gaming in the later Wii years so catching up on the few gems!), that game would look great on anything!
@rjejr Adventures is up there with my favourites. Recently rebought it and really hope I don't have a misplaced nostalgia for it. Still got my 5.5 inch TFT GameCube screen, at least the visuals won't be blown out on these fancy new TVs!
Plenty on show. The problem really was our expectations! I'm not upset about the options, I embrace most game types so with this and some indie games I'm content. I guess I could engage in fresh air also.
@Koz I was a massive fan of that game (recently rebought as I used to have to sell all my games to get new ones). Wasn't Starfox, but importantly it was pretty fun.
Got Dig on sale and that was quality, happily pay full price if the quality is up there. Got ASA at the £17 bracket and felt it was definitely worth it, just hope this matches up.
Nintendo really needs to work out their spacing, for consoles that don't get much, May in Europe I'm sure has had more major releases than the last 4 months of the year combined (especially with Fullblox just skipping in I had to bite!). Sadly it means I'll probably wait, which will inevitably mean getting at sale as literally have no time to play! (Not used to too many new games as a Nintendo gamer!)
Fan of the approach, would be nice if this is the way it always is, in other Yooka-Laylee news, they've announced a Snake called 'Trowza'. Glad to see the British humour isn't missing in this one!
Big fan. Up at 4am to play as can't do the daytime ones here (UK). Never felt like you were out of the game if your team was lagging behind. Also, connection went really well, hope that stays up. Also, don't shoot me, but the lack of voice chat really made the game pad integral to strategy. It might be controversial, but we have been demanding real use of the game pad!
@luke88 apologies for joining in, but ASA is a great game, completed it on co-op on technical, I was the gamepad player, the girlfriend took control of the ship... Almost a few arguments!
To be expected. Huge game and they are giving plenty for the likely £35 purchase. Not a fan of dlc but if we want our industry to remain it is likely the way it has to be. So called 'AAA' has caused this, budgets have become ridiculous and we must remember sadly there is a small user base propping up Nintendo these day. If before we supported shorter, fun experiences, I feel it may have been different now, but we just need to look at how PS4/XBO games are all cinematic 30+ hour games. We used to play 4-5 games and be happy with our purchase that we'd replay; now we rarely replay and expect hundreds of hours of content. It truly had become the beast we deserve, welcome to capitalism.
Never having much money as a kid, I'd have to sell all my old games to get the new console. I've now just restarted buying all old GameCube games and ones I missed out on. There were some great titles and I'd definitely take some HD versions. However, back to my 5.5" TFT Joytech screen... At least it doesn't blow out the visuals!
