@NintendoWife I still, liked the Prime games, but I too liked Other M and some of the others. You might like Prime 3 as it is a bit less "bleak" than the first two.

Personally, I'm glad they're doing something a little different with it. I can't really judge it until I play it, but I'd rather it have some fresh elements than just be exactly the same.

BOTW & TOTK at the top? Nah, no way! If Zelda is going to be at the top, it's gotta be Ocarina or Link to the Past to be honest. If Mario is at the top, then SMB3 or World, or even 64 or Galaxy. Glad to see Super Metroid in the top 10!

It does look good, and I want one, but at that price...Man, I don't know! Props to whoever wrote the sublime dialog in the last pic!

I like the Warriors games, but never finished Age of Calamity. I went back to it, but, I don't know, that game just isn't as good as the original Hyrule Warriors - I think because of the smaller and less distinct cast. This looks similar - outside of Link, I wouldn't use these guys. Honestly, the BOTW/TOTK aesthetic is a little bland. Don't get me wrong, they can be fun games, but I kind of miss classic Zelda. If I ever finish teh last one (and TOTK for that matter), then maybe I'd jump into this.

I have several options - my original NES is still ready-to-play, and I have an NES Classic (hacked of course), but I probably mostly play on NSO these days, just because it's convenient. I will break out some carts sometimes though, especially for games that need my beloved NES MAX!

I like continuity as much as the next guy, but I don't think it's super-important for Mario/DK universe games. There are all kinds of crazy nonsense in those, like the Baby characters as some have pointed out. There just isn't really a timeline - it's just whatever. I do think that more serious games can benefit from deep lore and tight continuity, but not everything needs it.

I think the cardboard model is a pretty good way to go. At 25 bucks, it's reasonable and will allow you to experience these games. The full model is way too expensive, especially without a replica controller. There are some fun games here though, especially Wario Land, so for anyone interested the cardboard version is probably worth it,

40 bucks for the cycle?! Man, with the price of amiibos skyrocketing - and I understand at least part of the reason for that in the US anyway - they could at least make sure that the in-game unlockables are well worth it. They can provide that without worrying about the manufacturing/importing factors. The DK Bananza amiibo was nice looking, but the in-game rewards were paltry. Give them functionality that is at least semi-worthwhile! I'm a sucker for Metroid merch too, but, at those prices I just don't think I can do it.

@roy130390 Yup - fans get mad about any little change, or even radically altered spin-offs. I can't understand though why they just want the exact same thing over and over. Fed Force wasn't even a bad game if you played it multiplayer (an Issue I had becuase no one would play it with me). You didn't have to buy it or anything. I remember all the hate Prime 3 got too, and, honestly, it's the best of the Trilogy to me! Maybe I'm crazy though. Anyway, while I can agree that everything going "open world" can be a bit frustrating, I am at least going to wait and see what is delivered here. I have a feeling it's going to be good no matter what they do.

Man, I hate the steep price increases on Amiibo lately, but I know I'm going to have to get those Metroid ones. Sylux? Oh yeah! Samus on her bike is so sweet! I could maybe skip on another basic Samus...but can I?

There are so many good ones, but for me, it will alwasy be SMB3 that is the top. It was a mind-blowing expansion of the concept and the pinnacle of what a platformer could be on the NES. Obviously, World, 64, and Galaxy are also just super great and are all at the top for me. I also love 3D world and Bowser's Fury - the latter really needs to be the blueprint for the next fully 3D Mario game.

As someone who's played most of them, there are definitely some good ones in the bunch: VB Wario Land is fantastic, and I would ssay that Galactic Pinball, Mario Clash, and Mario's Tennis are pretty solid. You can definitely have some fun with Red Alarm, 3-D Tetris, and Teleroboxer. I have limited experience with Jack Bros. but it is good, and related to Shin Megami Tensei for thos who dig SMT.

Anyway, if you want to check them out, I'd recommend just getting the cardboard version. It's not so expensive and would actually probably be a better way to play.

@Bolt_Strike Well, I wasn't meaning it as a detailed comparison, just an obversation that all Metroidvanias become more and more open as the game progresses.

@YANDMAN The VB hardware is actually pretty nice too, from an internals standpoint - particularly the audio was very good and it had a full 32 bit processor. It just had to be so bulky, and positioning it as a portable when it really wasn't made it less appealing. There are a couple of really great games on it that show the potential though. It was never going to work with that form-factor/price point though.

@Bolt_Strike I mean, every "Metroidvania" becomes open world by the end of it. Once you have all of the abilities to open all passages and take all shortcuts. But I get ya - if it's too open from jump, that is not really what I want out of Metroid.

Honestly, the cardboard model isn't a bad way to go - it will actually be more comfrtable to play with it as opposed to the old-school style - trust me! I do wish it had a head strap thought.

I like how Virtual Boy games are now "classic"! Speaking as someone who's had one since way back, it's about time! Well, there are a couple of really good titles anyway - like Wario Land and Galactic Pinball.

Geist was pretty cool. I can't recall if I ever finished it though.

Honestly, it's pretty fun to play, but man is it a workout! My arms got pretty tired pretty quickly, so I don't know if this is a game I would spend a lot of time with.

SNES Pilotwings has a very relaxing and soothing soundtrack!

I didn't pick up the amiibo, but i've been playing the game and it is pretty awesome so far! For me, amiibo are more of a collectible themselvbes, wtih in-game features just being an extra, so I am fine with it not doing anything too special. Then again, they have gotten so pricey, so they should offer more!

Man, I know it must be tough to be around Shigeru Miuyamoto and his creative genius all the time, but Imamura worked on some really great games too. They had him around for a reason and I'm sure he could hold his own. I get it though, and I'm glad he's happy moving forward.

I like the look of this game, though no local multiplayer is a bummer. Then again, it's the kind of game I would probably only ever play myself anyway, so for 20 bucks, I may still give it a go.

@Scollurio I've never understood the Mario Kart players who want to treat it like Forza anyway. It's not a racing sim. It's the same for "competitive" Smash. If you turn off all items and hazards, and all the quirky, random things that make the game the game, what are you even playing? There are a ton of other games that offer that, so why not play those?

Personally, I like the intermission races - they are what make MKW different. Different is good! If this was just the same, traditional Mario Kart again, what would be the point. MK8 Deluxe was already like the ultimate traditional version, so doing something different is necessary. It shouldn't surprise me though that fans just want the same thing again. How dare they change anything? This is like when Double Dash came out - some people struggled to embrace it, though it is beloved today.

I have yet to play the game online - I may never even do that.

I love all the music - so many deep cuts! I am really enjoying it, even though it's pretty light. It might be nice to have a little more to do, but it's still pretty fun. I would like to have some kind of completiion checklist or something.

@Bass_X0 Right. Pack ins aren't free games, they are rolled into the cost of the unit. If this were a pack-in, the base Switch 2 would cost $459.99.

Nice! I always liked the MK Arcade games. I sort of fell away from it when it went console-only. It's cool to include the ports - which I played back in the day, even if they didn't stand up to the arcade versions.

I've got a Mario KArt bundle for Day one and nothing else planned. I may peruse the eShop. I do also want a Pro Controller, but may wait a bit. Same for an SD card as I shouldn't need it right away.

I mean, honestly, pack-in games are never "free" - they just roll it into the price of the system. If this wer a pack-in, the Switch would just cost $459.99 USD. This way, you have a choice.

I'm getting a Switch 2, but my Switch 1 isn't going anywhere. It will still have plenty of uses.

Man, that's like the one Gradius game for a Nintendo console that I don't actually have. That'll be fun to check out! Survival Kids is a cool addition too.

Sure, specs aren't everything and a game doesn't need the latest specs to be great, but it's still interesting to know about them and to get an idea of how these specs can be used by the games I want to play. There's no harm in a little "on-paper" comparison. It's not going to affect my decision to get one either way.

@JohnnyMind Yeah, it reminds me of when the Star Wars prequels came out and all those film buffs who just hated CGI effects would complain endlessly about how bad it looks, even citing scenes that were made with practical effects. They just want to complain about it.

@Wexter Yeah, me too! Platinum was great. I guess now we have to follow the creators to their own projects. I hope they can get some great stuff off the ground.

@Burning_Spear I use CapOne and had a similar issue. The thing is, I did approve it right away, but it never actually hit anyway. I think Target's servers were sending what looked like suspicious activity. Anyway, I was in queue for Walmart the whole time and eventually that did go through - it took almost an hour though!

This really does look great! I love the idea of the costumes and such. It looks like there is a LOT of game here.

@Xbox_Dashboard Nobody's saying that it's top-of-the-line tech, only that the performance looks good for the price. The cutting edge stuff would cost way more. Honestly, I think expectations were that this would be less powerful than it seems to be, so it is nice to see that it's better than that.

@TheBigK Okay, but presumably there has to be some command to pull up the interface? What would it be if not a button? I'm just curious what people expect.

@Judal27 Yeah, but while you can install a PS5 game off the disc, it still needs to download all of the patches and updates - usually from day-one these days. They just really aren't including the full game data on the media anymore.

@MasterGraveheart But I get why they've done this. It's so that you can't load the game to one unit, then pass the Key to another person to load on their unit, then you both have working copies of the game. Originally I had assumed these were like code-in-box, purly digital games, but the fact they are not tied to a unit or account required them to be present to play. This isn't to say that I love the idea, but it's actually better than just purely digital from that standpoint.
