Re: Nintendo Download: 29th March (North America)

BradC40

Nothing for me this week and all the way to E3. Thankfully I have a backlog of games to keep me busy this year, and a Rayman Legends I got for $25 that I haven't even opened yet. What a snore of a year. So far I'd give game of the year (Switch) to Owlboy, with Kirby a distant second.

Re: Dragon Quest XI On Switch Will Arrive "Much Later" Than Other Versions

BradC40

I also say year 2 for Switch has been a bummer so far, at least compared to the amazing year 1. Here we have another disappointment. Kirby was ok, Labo might be good but its for kids, and everything else is basically ports, great if you haven't played them, probably not worth double dipping if you have.

Can't wait for E3! A Metroid prime trilogy will keep me occupied for a long time since I haven't played any. FE and Smash will be nice too. Anything else announced is icing on the cake.

Re: Review: Castle of Heart (Switch eShop)

BradC40

Darn, thought for sure I'd buy this. Sounds like a game I wouldn't enjoy though. Too bad they don't have an easy mode. I think I'll at least wait on this one. I have such a backlog of games I can wait.

Re: Reaction: What Did You Think Of The Nindies Spring Showcase 2018?

BradC40

Lackluster and sad. A few of the games looked to be solid games but none worthy of being in a Direct. I say sad because it really makes you think about indies in a negative light. I don't even think we need a virtual counsel anymore with all the 8 & 16 bit games coming from indies. I really see Switch fans becoming somewhat divided in the near future. Retro gamers on one side & new generation on the other.

Re: ARMS Producer Open To Sequel In The Future, Would Like To Reveal 'Unknown Stories'

BradC40

Arms was great, especially since they added the badges, extra characters, & stages. Nintendo did a great job keeping this game as interesting as possible for almost a year. I'd be up for a sequel.

Having said that, its a fighter game. The genre doesn't lend itself to a far different experience game to game. It won't be like going from an older Zelda game to the open world in BOTW. There may be a story mode, different fighters, etc. but it won't be all that different.

Arms did well in sales but it didn't kill it like Splatoon did. Nintendo may not do a second game and I'd understand why. But I'm selfish & still want another in 2 or 3 years. Might still be fresh then.

Re: Nintendo Download: 15th March (North America)

BradC40

Kirby physical for me this week and Castle of Heart next. That'll be my March games.

@thesilverbrick Yes, my thoughts exactly. Hope we get quite a few new games in the second half of the year. Fire Emblem will be new, hopefully Pokémon releases this holiday season, & there is debate if Smash is new or a port. But if Pokémon is delayed into 2019 Nintendo will need help from third party developers to bring new content to the Switch. It looks worrisome.

Re: Review: Kirby Star Allies (Switch)

BradC40

I've never bought a Kirby game (though one did come with my NES Classic) and I'd like to give it a shot. My expectations have been tempered by all the news of this game being too easy and the developers playing it safe. So I'm not as excited to play this as I have been other games. I may buy it Friday when it comes out. If not I'll wait till I'm finished with Bayonetta 2.

Re: Feature: The Big Nintendo Direct Summary - 8th March

BradC40

I was happy with this Direct, especially after January's.

I previously wasn't interested in Mario Tennis but this Direct made it seem more interesting, there's more strategy than I thought.

Yeah lots of ports but some cool ones. I'm glad Toad's Treasure Tracker is coming to Switch, it was a fun WiiU game. Not sure if there's enough there for me to double dip but glad others will enjoy it.

I never heard of Little Nightmares & it looked good. Will have to check that out when its released.

Glad they're not giving up on the 3DS. They've sold so many of those, they should at least come out with a few first party games a year.

Re: Surprise! There's A New Nintendo Direct Coming, And It's Due Tomorrow

BradC40

Thank God. The current lineup for the near future is a little lackluster. Yes, Kirby, Donky Kong, and Mario Tennis could all be great games on their own, but when you look at the first half of this year so far, no real AAA games from Nintendo on the list. Ports are good, especially when we haven't played them before, but we need something great before summer. I hope we get something new soon.

And if we get nothing but ports fine, give me the Metroid Prime Trilogy ALL on cart for $60. That's more of a value than 1 DK game.

Re: Kirby Star Allies Has a Demo Live on the eShop Now

BradC40

Switchforce on YouTube beat the grasslands level without attacking a single enemy. Said they could do the same on the "hard" level. Your friends can beat the levels for you. If the entire game is like that then I'll pass. Not paying $60 for that. Might be a good game for extremely young players though.

Re: Nintendo On How It Views Indie and AAA Games

BradC40

@formulas666 I can't disagree that most AAA 3rd party games were old ports but I think that was the best we could do first year after Wiiu. All were new games to me so I had a great time with them but if you played them before then yeah, not much reason to double dip.

I disagree though with the "nothing else" comment. Splatoon 2, Arms, & Xenoblade 2 have all done well in sales. Bayonetta 1 & 2 were just ported & if you didn't play 2 on Wiiu there's another great first party game. New Kirby & Yoshi around the corner & they're trying to complete 2 brand new Pokémon games for holiday 2018. There were more titles than Mario & Zelda in 2017 & much more to come.

Re: Nintendo On How It Views Indie and AAA Games

BradC40

More AAA games are coming, not sure what some people are so worried about. Even after the Wiiu we get Skyrim, Doom, LA Noire, & Mario & Rabbids first year on Switch. Not bad. Dark Souls has been announced this year too. Many more are sure to come. I'm not worried.

Indie games are so plentiful it's ridiculous, but in a good way. Many good ones have risen to the top: Steamworld Dig 2, Stardew Valley, Rocket League, Owlboy, etc. $25 or less. They're a deal at their prices for sure.

We are getting the best of both worlds.

Re: New RiME Patch Addresses A Multitude Of Sins On Switch

BradC40

I'd consider getting this if the game is truly fixed. I heard about the game later than most, so I don't feel upset that the game got delayed. Glad they at least came out with the patch.

I've got 17 games I bought in less than a year. Only beat 1 so far. I don't want to buy games & wait on playing them, but would consider buying if it were on sale. Hope we get an updated review soon. This game showed so much promise.

Re: Review: Fe (Switch eShop)

BradC40

Totally intrigued since I've never played a game like this before. Love that it's a unique experience on the Switch.

I don't think $20 is a bad price. 3 hours of entertainment comes to less than $7/hr & that's if you don't go back and complete it.

Having said that I have too many games left to complete & I bought Dragon Quest Builders & will buy Bayonetta tomorrow. Owlboy looks great too. I can wait a bit on this one.

Re: Shaq Fu: A Legend Reborn Stomps On To Switch In Spring

BradC40

@Audiobrainiac I have no problems with beat 'em ups, but one featuring Shaq? To me he represents the NBA of the '90's. Is he relevant today? If we have to have a beat 'em up featuring an NBA player, and we don't, I would prefer someone playing today like Durant or LeBron.

Re: Sounds Like Bandai Namco Really Is Working on Metroid Prime 4

BradC40

I agree with those that think one of the 3 games BN is working on for release this year is a Metroid Prime trilogy. 4 will be next year. If true this will be great. I got out of video games when the prime trilogy started so I haven't played any of them. 3 games for $60 will be like new for me. Hope it comes this summer.
