It's been a long time since the dark future of the 41st millennium has graced a Nintendo console, but that could be about to change if a recent listing for Warhammer 40,000: Deathwatch - Enhanced Edition proves to be a real thing and not some elaborate prank.
The turn-based strategy title, much like Warhammer 40,000: Squad Command on DS before it, tasks you with controlling an elite group of space marines (genetically enhanced super soldiers if you've never ventured into a Games Workshop) as they take on waves of Tyranids (xenomorph-esque aliens) on the edge of charted space. The Enhanced Edition, which is already available on other platforms, includes new marines from other chapters, enhanced lighting effects and more.
According to the listing on ozgameshop.com (a retailer registered in the UK), the game will cost $36.99 and will purportedly arrive on 21st September. Of course, a presumably premature listings page shouldn't be taken as red until the developer or publisher makes it official. But if it is, we're all for the chance to crush that xeno scum in portable mode!
So what do YOU make of this rumour? Would you welcome a new 40K game on Nintendo Switch? Let us know your thoughts below...

Will buy the hell out of this.
Hell Yeah!!
By the Emperor!
As far as the mobile 40k games go this is supposedly one of the better ones, if a little basic. But I've heard it has some interesting character interactions, using the fact that Deathwatch pulls from multiple different chapters and some of them are not only a little unorthodox, they rival each other as well. Savage Space Wolves don't really care as much about Codex Astartes as Ultramarines do and Dark Angels are a bit shady...
Now I wait for a Switch version of Blood Bowl!
@thewoosp You haven't played the Bloodbowl games on PC???
Nice one brother!
Cover art looks ropey as hell. Will see if official announcement rears it's head. 4 player LAN would be excellent in this game.
There are so many WH40k games out there is it becoming increasingly hard to distinguish between the good and the bad. I would love Space Marine on the Switch, even without the online multiplayer. There are lots of Steam only releases would not mind to have on the Switch. One can dream... or is that heresy!?
Still have my Squad Command for DS and PSP. Loved that game. Have this on PC but haven't tried it yet. Will give it a go and probably grab it on switch when it hits.
Are those voice-overs likely to be in the game? My ears were bleeding with the poorly delivered clichés - it sounded like an amateur dramatics society’s take on Lord of the Rings
@Shiryu While it's not heresy to want more 40k games on the Switch, one must remember that hope is the first step on the road to disappointment =][=
@SmaggTheSmug
"Now I wait for a Switch version of Blood Bowl!"
I second this.
That Funbox logo looks soooo out of place.
@FX102A thinking just the same thing. Looks ridiculous in context of the two big lads there.
Neat.
Never played any Warhammer games but this looks different from anything I currently have on my Switch. I’d give it a go for sure. Seems like a lot of new games announced recently. Gotta love it.
Blood for the Blood god, Skulls for...oh wait wrong faction!
@kbshadow gads!! never knew they existed, dont do much PC gaming, must look into it! yas!
Will defenitly get this day one. Such games are what Switch is meant for
It's surprising that Games Workshop have never properly capitalized on the video game market. Yeah, I know there's a flood of 40K games out there but the vast majority are rubbish. Dawn of War was really good but a 40K FPS similar to Doom or a turn based strategy like XCOM would work so well with the 40K lore.
Looks interesting and the price is right. This rumor is on my radar.
@Shiryu Agreed, Space Marine would be great fit for the the Switch.
@Racthet916 I would even love a sequel. A shame THQ went under and no one even remembers the game exists any more. Captain Titus deserved a better fate.
@Shiryu I'm pretty sure Sega owns the rights to Space Marine now, I wouldn't mind seeing what they can do with it as far as a sequel goes, it was one of my favorites WH40K games in recent memory.

@Octane sounds like the twitter/tumblr police
Now they should bring vermintide 2 to the switch 😱
Blood splatter shoot'em up. I'm so in on this!
@shinpaku Community Rules
This game is terrible, avoid at all costs. Now deathwing is excellent.
@diditall4tanooki Did you miss Total War: Warhammer 1 and 2 and Vermintide 1 and 2? There's been a real drought of 40k and WFB games before the first DoW and between DoW2 and now, but apparently they've made their license a lot easier to obtain since recent years. Now there's been three different adaptations of Space Hulk, a Mordheim game, an adaptation of Xenos novel, an early access Inquisitor hack and slash, two Blood Bowl games and now there's a Necromunda video game coming. There was even a Horus Heresy version of virtual Talisman. Most of it is trash, but some, like Vermintide or Armageddon, apparently work well enough.
@thewoosp I don't know how current you are with tabletop games now, but Blood Bowl has had a re-release a year or so ago. So you can totally pick up a new physical copy, with plastic minis this time.
Auugh!... September is already crowded with Tomb Raider and Dragon Quest. But hope it is true - even if not Day 1 for me.
@smaggthesmugg Yeah, I did miss most of those games. I've played and somewhat enjoyed Blood Bowl 2 and I have Vermintide but not played it yet. I think my main problem is that I have a vision of what I want a 40K game to be like in my mind's eye and it's not arrived yet. Obviously my own fault...
@Octane blah blah blah you like twitter,Facebook and YouTube are selective on who you decide to use those rules against stop pretending like your actually gonna do anything about people that agree with you
@shinpaku Err... What?
So I guess nothing will come of this? Damn I want wh40k titles...
