Yesterday brought with it the fascinating news that the upcoming re-release of the Mega Man X series will likely be split between two separate collections, echoing the predecessor collection for the classic Mega Man series. It was assumed that Mega Man Legacy Collection would simply be re-released in two parts as it appeared on other platforms, but a new ratings listing seems to indicate otherwise.
The ESRB recently published a rating for Mega Man Legacy Collection 1 & 2, indicating it will be a single release. If this turns out to be an accurate listing, then that would mean that Capcom will be tossing the full Mega Man classic series onto one cartridge. It wouldn’t be too surprising if this did come to pass, but nothing’s official until we hear about it from Capcom. Given the recent influx of Mega Man news, it probably is gearing up for an announcement.

I'm looking forward to this so much it hurts.
Great. Too bad X will be split though. But great for this!
Now THAT'S more like it!
Too bad they're against physical versions of some of their games in Europe.....but yay, region free at least.
A combination of two previously separate collections, but another set of games likely getting split into two collections...why? Eh, just announce some release dates, Capcom...
I'm up for however they split it. I'm buying it all! I haven't even played an X yet so those will be new to me. Hope we get one of the releases soon, can't wait!
I sense a digital half-ing on the horizon for physical collectors... Again...
Knowing Capcom, one of the two is going to be on cartridge and the other one will be a download code.
I can't wait to buy the collection. My favs are 2, 3 and 6. I really don't want to play them with the joy-con's analog stick though. A D-pad Joy-con can't come soon enough. In docked mode I can use my 8bitdo or pro controller but in handheld mode, they just won't feel right. Mighty Gunvolt Burst plays okay in handheld but, I don't think that will translate well to NES games. Nintendo, you will sell countless amounts of D-Pad Joy-con's. MAKE IT HAPPEN!
Mega Man in one cartridge.
Retro feels
I was gonna skip the first since I already have it on 3DS, but this will be a must have if true. Part of me thinks Capcom will split it like they did before, but then again Legacy 2 looked weak compared to what the first legacy collection offered in terms of raw content.
Great to see if this ends up being true. I would've bought the two separate Legacy Collections for my Switch still, but putting them all into one would lessen the need to load up the other collection if I want to switch over from Mega Man 3 to...say, Mega Man 10.
@MonkiPlays You mean "This is a Mega year for Mega Man!"
All I want are Mega Man X, X2, and X3.
Funnily, I still have my Gold Mega Man amiibo from buying the Collector's Edition for the first Legacy Collection, still encased in its blank amiibo boxing! XD
I'm going to pick up, but will I have the urge to play again.....
It feels like an improper listing. I would be shocked to see Capcom give us a deal.
Dr. Wahwee better prepare himself.
Yes and Megaman 2, no contest. *also love 4 and 6 cause I had those three as a kid. Biased I know.
I have the first collection on PS4, I've been debating on whether I should get the second one as well, or get both on the Switch instead. The lack of a D-pad on the left Joycon is kind of a deal-breaker though...
Mega Man Legacy Collection 2 will be a free digital download with collection 1 on the cart
@KayFiOS I thought the exact same and ranted about it on end...until i blasted through Shovel Knight, finished Blaster Master Zero and (Mighty)Gunvolt without any issue whatsoever.
The Switch "D-Pad" is surprisingly competent for platformers. It sucks for stuff like fighters and such, but it manages the "hold left/right" part well enough
I'm cool with this. I only need to buy one copy and Capcom gets to cut down on manufacturing costs without hurting sales potential. Makes sense.
@Einherjar Huh. I'll have to try it for myself. So far, none of the four games I have on the Switch use the buttons for directional input, except for maybe Snipperclips Plus, which I usually play with split Joycons with my fiance. If I don't like how it feels, I can always plug in the GameCube controller, or splurge a little and get a Pro Controller.
@KayFiOS Yup, there are options. But yeah, like i said, i ranted my heart out about it before the consoles release and was pleasantly surprised later on.
A proper D-Pad is definitely better, no two ways about it, but for what it is, its perfectly fine and works as intended ^^.
Just release it already.
@Paraka My thoughts exactly. There's a part of me that wouldn't be surprised if MM Legacy Collection 1 was on the cart, and you got a code for Legacy Collection 2 in the box.
I hope this is true. Instant buy from me!
Mega Man to jump jump slide slide onto the Switch. Mega Man 2 and 3 are tied for my favorite game of all time, but all of them are good to great.
It would have to be very cheap -and it won't- in order for me to consider it, because I already have first Legacy Collection on Xbox One (although it cost me 6 €, OK), and as for Legacy Collection 2 I bought 9 and 10 back in their time, and recently I purchased 8 on PlayStation (being the lesser version, but Saturn version is really expensive), so the only game I don't own yet is 7. Even re-selling 8, which by the way is the version they weirdly chose to be in the compilation, there's a lot of games I already have and still haven't really played through.
But I salute this coming to Switch and in one cartridge. Speaking of which: they're going to launch it on retail too? That's surprising.
I love headlines that say 'might'.
But still no & Bass 😢
Would love to get a full collection in one game cartridge. Never played many of the mega man games.
Never played any of these games so I'm looking forward to this.
Dammit, I only wanted the 2nd Collection. Got all of them except 8 on the Wii U, don’t really fancy paying £50 for a disc I already own 90% of...
Only interested with the col 2 tho, sigh
Fascinating news I tell you, FASCINATING!
Maybe Capcom can do something right.
I already have the first collection but not the second, so I hope there's an option to buy them separately.
I'm just waiting for
-inhale-
MEGA MAN ELEVEN
Hope Capcom releases a special edition left Joy-Con with an actual D-pad.....................................................
@Paraka
My thoughts exactly if Resident Evil Revelations and Bayonetta are any indication
Yes please.
One, five, sixty, two-hundred-fifty-six, who cares... I'm gonna buy all of them anyway
Now just gimme the damn release date
The only game I care about is X4, so the bundles being split don't bother me too much. It does feel like a pretty pathetic cash grab though.
So what was suppose to be two collections is actually one (MMLC) and what was suppose to be one is actually two (MMXLC)? Capcom you're in trouble again now get yourself out of this quickly.
$50 Gamestop Giftcard in hand waiting...
@BradC40: You're in for a real treat, depending on if you enjoy the X formula, which isn't too different from the Classic series formula.
@Yasaal: I know, right? Awesome, isn't it?
@NinChocolate: Also, & Bass had a sequel.
@blockfight: As I told BradC40, You're in for a real treat!
@Everyone_Else: Ready to trash Wily 10 times again, & finally finish the X story, although I already know what happens post X3. I hope the games are physical carts, not download codes that will ruin long-term ownership of these games, post-NX life cycle.
This totally makes sense and would feel less like a cash grab and like a full and essential collection release
I hope that's the case, would be dumb to have it split up. Also, am I the only on who kinda wishes they'd re-release both NES Remixes as ONE single game for Switch too?
Gimme Mega Man Powered Up as well, Capcom!
Sweet! But I've already got the first one. If i can buy the second one and the two X collections on physical, I'll be happy.
@Paraka That would make me sad.
@BradC40 Oh! You'll like them.
Who wants to bet Europe gets digital only?
If Japan gets a physical release, I might get that one. I mean, c'mon, Rockman sounds way cooler than Mega Man!
I'd probably go physical if it meant getting both collections on one cart.
i still pissed at capcom poor handling with street fighter for switch and still havent giving us a monster hunter as well besides xx which should be ported over.
I think this would be cool, so long as both collections are in the cart. Would be very dissapointed if one of the collections is a download code.
nah, not buying...just focus on a decent reboot/remake.
if they put megaman and bass into this collection, i will buy it
@Alikan
2 is amazing. It's also the only one I can beat! I can get close to the end of 3 but I die shortly after.
will definitely get it if its all on one cart
