Re: Nintendo Direct Mini Is Happening Right Now

BradC40

Well, that was a Direct for the pooper. Kirby is probably only game I'll buy, plus Rabbids dlc. No surprises, or at least good ones. Oops wait, no mention of virtual counsel was suprising. Mario Tennis & Tropical Freeze will be $60 each won't they? Pass. I'd rather buy $120 worth of nindies on the eshop.

Not trying to be a downer, there will be great games released this year. Nintendo killed it in 2017. Just...a downer of a Direct.

Re: Nintendo Download: 28th December (North America)

BradC40

I selected SteamWorld Heist, but honestly, I haven't downloaded Stardew Valley yet...not sure which one to get.

I'm finally making progress in Mario vs. Rabbids, closer to completing Odyssey, and I always go back to Arms and have a good time. Maybe nothing this week. We'll see.

Re: Review: Yooka-Laylee (Switch eShop)

BradC40

This game was never on my radar & when it was delayed it became a joke to me. But I've reconsidered. I've beaten (not completed) Odyssey and am now into Doom, Skyrim, and want to get Xenoblade 2. It will be nice to have a classic platformer done well to break up the more intense games. This looks to fit the bill. Graphics look great and it got a nice score here. I might get this.

Re: Feature: It's Time to Vote for Your 2017 Nintendo Life Game of the Year Awards

BradC40

I voted for BOTW of course, but had to give Arms a vote too. After a couple weeks I put it down but I picked it back up after downloading the two new characters & ability to get badges (helps accumulate $ faster). My nephews love this game and when we get together we always play it and have a blast. Not quite as good as Splatoon 2 but still a great Nintendo IP! Hope they come out with another great new IP in 2018.

Re: Poll: Capcom is Finally Bringing Mega Man Back - Are You Excited?

BradC40

I am excited for the new Mega Man 11. The legacy collections I owned on 3DS before I sold the system, but would be willing to buy again if the price is right. I've never played the X versions of Mega Man. I've seen a lot of positive things said about the series and will be looking forward to those as well.

Though I'm excited for Mega Man 11, from what I've seen, I'm not sure its worth a full price of $59.99. If its around $40 I'm in, otherwise I'll have to think about it.

Re: Mega Man 11 Confirmed For Switch In 2018

BradC40

Wow!!! Looks great, I'm a fan of the art style. Staying somewhat true to the original while being updated.

Other than Metroid there's no other game I'm looking more forward to. Legacy collections will be nice too.

Re: Guide: The Top Nintendo Black Friday 2017 Deals in the US

BradC40

@JaxonH That's what I ordered from Amazon, a 128G card for $29.99. Was just explaining that they sent me the wrong card, a 32G one instead. Will be sending it back Monday. I didn't know to check for the speed of the card before I ordered.

If the card is too slow does that mean it'll take a long time for the game to start up? Or that it'll have performance issues as you play the game?

Re: Guide: The Top Nintendo Black Friday 2017 Deals in the US

BradC40

@tanookisuit Now that I've opened the envelope I see they sent me the wrong card. The card they sent is 32GB and says speed up to 80mb/s 533x. I'll be sending this back.

So when you say speed, do you mean the speed it takes to initially run the game? Meaning the time it takes for the game to start? Or does this speed effect the game while you play?

Re: Review: The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim (Switch)

BradC40

I'm in Bowser's Kingdom in Odyssey so I'll beat that soon & just barely started Doom. I'm thinking it'll be weird to play Doom & Skyrim at the same time but Xenoblade is out soon too. Weird to play all 3 at once? Maybe, but I'll do it anyway. I want to buy Skyrim to help boost sales so Bethesda is encouraged to bring new games to the Switch.

Re: RiME Devs Explain The Difficulty Of Porting The Game To Switch

BradC40

I'm sure it was tough for them, but yeah there are more complex games on Switch that run better.

When sequences of scenes "drop" it does take you out of the game. Game's art looks great though. I will keep this on my list and buy it when there's a patch and there aren't so many other games coming out at the same time.

Re: Review: RiME (Switch)

BradC40

Sad. Looks like it could have had a great launch on Switch. The fact that it's late, is out on other platforms for less money, and has performance issues will DOOM this release.

Looks like it could be great down the road. If BOTW is a little complex for you this could be decent. Puzzle solving & no fighting. Once it gets a patch, comes down in price, & I'm looking for a game I may give this a shot later on.

Re: Digital Foundry Gives Its Full Analysis of DOOM on Nintendo Switch

BradC40

I bought Doom day 1 & it's been a blast. I have no Playstation, X Box, or Steam to compare it to but the graphics & frame rate work for me. The video here in this article is great. We can see that the PS4 version is better, but we all knew that already didn't we? Constructive criticisms, but still a good time on the Switch. If you're in my boat, buy it, you won't regret it. I mostly play it in docked mode, no issues for me yet.

Also remember, if we critique these games to death, to the point where some don't buy it due to overly negative critiques, these 3rd parties may not bring their new games to Switch if they don't think they'll sell well.

This game is a refreshing change of pace. One of the few adult games on Switch. One of the few first person shooters. Buy it. 😉

Re: Review: Farming Simulator: Nintendo Switch Edition (Switch)

BradC40

Hmm. I'm originally a city boy that has lived in the country for 7 years. Thought this would be right up my alley since I'm in farming country and loving it. But, I'm not a farmer. I was wondering if Stardew Valley would be a better fit for me and it sounds like it is from this review. Cheaper too.

Re: Soapbox: DOOM is the Most Important Switch Game Yet

BradC40

I would agree that this is probably the most important game for the Switch so far. We knew BOTW and Odyssey would sell big for the system, the big question was always how much third party support Nintendo would get. I never expected so many in less than a year, bravo!

But its up to us to keep them coming and we do that by buying these games! Doom is an automatic buy for me. I'm also buying Skyrim and have already bought Mario & Rabbids. I'm on the fence on L.A. Noire, so I'll probably buy it to help keep these games coming.

Re: Review: DOOM (Switch)

BradC40

Yeah I'll be picking this up tomorrow. It'll be great. Mario last week. Skyrim next week. It just keeps getting better for Switch owners.

Re: Talking Point: The Case for Super Mario Odyssey as the Greatest Mario Game

BradC40

Odyssey is great so far. I'm in the snow kingdom, trying to win the race. Over time I'll decide if it's the best. It's certainly in the running.

Looking back, I really appreciate SMB2. I tire of Bowser & company at times. I really like the change of pace the Toad King brought in #2 as well as other different characters (shy guys vs. Goombas) & the graphics & play were so unique & different from any other mario game. You could also play as mario, luigi, toad, or the princess. Every character had different talents. Wish they did something different again.

Re: Nintendo States That More Than 300 Publishers are Working on Switch Games

BradC40

I'm pretty happy with the third party AAA games that are out and coming out. Hope there are many more in 2018 of course, but I think we got the best case scenario so far.

Really interested to see what Nintendo does. Yeah we got Kirby, Yoshi, and Metroid Prime 4 (prob 2019) announced, but interested in their IPO's. Also, what happens when all of their major franchises have a game out? All IPO's after?

Re: Guide: Super Mario Odyssey Top Tips And Tricks

BradC40

I'm not really a completionist. I got around a 97% completion in Galaxy and was happy with that. Attempted to complete, but didn't find every single thing.

I'm in World 5. I initially thought BOTW would remain my favorite game because its so beautiful and more challenging to master Link's moves than Mario, making the game a little more complex to me. But I'm reconsidering, Odyssey is more fun to me. Love both though.

Re: Review: Super Mario Odyssey (Switch)

BradC40

Hmm, girlfriend is expecting a night out tomorrow. I'll have to buy Odyssey on the way to her place after work and play it portable for a few hours before getting home later at night. She'll be angry at my inattention but...its a plan where I get to play Odyssey tomorrow so no complaints.
