Nintendo is REALLY going to have to work hard to convince me to move on from the Wii U if this is the case. And just shutting down the online services won't work this time.
They changed something that was implemented terribly and that players hated. Would you rather they have left it alone so you could complain about how terribly they were implemented and how you wish it was done differently?
...don't answer that. Knowing this community, I already know the answer.
My hypothesis; there's a bug in the "begging for stars" detector that occasionally counts GETTING a star as begging. A similar thing happened when Smash 4 was released when players were getting banned for using Peach's turnips on For Glory, which the game's servers erroneously detected as hacking in items.
"Tipping point of ideas running out" might be a little premature. I mean, this is one of the costumes that trace files were found in the data when the game was first released. This one's been planned from the start.
That's nice, and Melee is a good game and all, but I REALLY don't care about these guys. I bet most of them have never even touched a non-Melee Nintendo game in their lives.
I loved my own Ghost MissingNo. so much when I was a kid. I was so worried they'd take it out and I wouldn't get to see her again. Now I know I can play with her again.
I just did this, and it feels SO much better... The original C-nub isn't just unresponsive, the way it juts out really hurts my thumb. The PSP stick (well, I guess pad now) actually feels like it's meant to be used.
I don't think that header image, which shows how Twilight Princess is the very embodiment of "Real Is Brown" rather than "youthful and optimistic", fits the tone of the article.
I had to to a double-take because I'm sleepy and I accidentally read the headline as "Masahiro Sakurai's 500th Birthday is Coming Up" and I was just like... "...wait, that can't be right..."
I don't think this counts. It only "recognizes each Amiibo individually" in that it reads the registered nickname. Ultimately, it still doesn't distinguish between a Mega Yarn Yoshi and an AC:HHD villager card.
@GammaNoises We already got cursed with a port of Minecraft. I may have a love-hate relationship with UT, and a hate-hate relationship with its fanbase, but I think they're pretty much all already on the Wii U anyway thanks to that alone, so I don't think a UT port will bring in anyone obnoxious who's not already there.
@Vee_Flames That's kind of the point since it's a six-year-old's design in-universe. Yeah, it's pretty obnoxious and jarring if you go in blind, but after you realize what's going on, I think it just adds to the tragedy of Asriel's character because, despite everything, he's still just a little kid who happened to get a raw deal.
@shani It's a love-letter to the Mother series, so it uses a similar graphical style on purpose. UT is hardly alone in using a retro aesthetic, especially when it comes to indie games. I mean, just look at Shovel Knight.
I have a love-hate relationship with UT, but it would absolutely fit on a Nintendo platform since it's basically a love-letter to the Mother series, so I hope it goes through.
Events are bad, anyway. Game Freak should just do with all of them what they did with Deoxys and make them NOT locked off forever if they blink at the wrong time.
I'm surprised this one got passed by Nintendo in the first place considering that Bigley started out as a parody of Ridley.
(For those not in the know, back in the old Smash community on Miiverse, it was a joke to exaggerate the "Ridley is too big" thing by drawing Bigley, a stick-figure version of Ridley, alongside bigger and bigger things like buildings, planets, the entire universe...)
I'm wondering whether or not to buy Zero Mission because, by the time it finally came over here, I got a Retron 5 that I can pop the original cartridge into.
I do understand why they do this and why they don't specify the details; minimal code optimizations and efficiency improvements that the average user wouldn't understand the terminology for. If they didn't do this regular smoothing-down, the rough points would probably add up and lead to gradual slowdown.
So while updates like this ARE underwhelming, I do appreciate them.
It'll pass, anyway. Just like motion controls and 3D. There were some pretty good reasons those bandwagons died off; VR just takes the inconveniences of both and escalates them.
@Zombie_Barioth: That's exactly my point. They've been PLANNED since the Famicom Disk System. They just couldn't find a way to implement them until the Wii.
Miis have been active for nearly 10 years now, and the concept has been at the very least in its planning stages for 30 years now. If anyone wanted to sue Nintendo over the Mii concept, they shoulda' done it a lot sooner.
I see some debate about his name, and some sites I know are going with "Badgegrab"; the (possibly throwaway) name he introduced himself as when Pokémon badges were first introduced.
(Sigh)... This is just like when some guy named Latinplayer10 flooded the "Cool Levels" section in the first two LittleBigPlanet games with his low-quality copied levels for nearly those games' entire lifespan.

Re: Rumour: New Nintendo NX Controller Images Surface and Set the Web Alight

Re: Hardware Review: Pokkén Tournament Pro Pad by Hori
I just use an arcade stick that I hook up to the Classic Controller port.
Re: Rumour Buster: Let's Have A Good Look At That "Leaked" NX Controller
I'm not sure if it's fake or not, but I'm REALLY HOPING that it IS fake.
Damn it, Nintendo, are you TRYING to make your fans hate you?!
Re: Nintendo Issues Statement On Side Quest Changes In Bravely Second

Re: Miitomo Makes Storming Debut on iOS in Japan
In Japan.
They don't have that brand power in the West anymore.
Re: Nintendo Download: 17th March (North America)
Hopefully they don't take our mass refusal to buy anything before My Nintendo launches as a lack of interest in their products.
Re: Talking Point: Sony's PlayStation VR Launch Adds Pressure to Nintendo's Holiday - and Perhaps NX - Plans
Nintendo should stay far away from VR. Let everyone else have the worthless, costly gimmick that everyone laughs at for once.
Re: Nintendo Seems To Be Deleting Super Mario Maker Levels Without Explanation Or Warning
My hypothesis; there's a bug in the "begging for stars" detector that occasionally counts GETTING a star as begging.

Re: 3DS System Update 10.7.0-32 is Now Live
Not even gonna make a stability joke this time. Everyone's tired of those, just like everyone's tired of these so-called updates.
Re: Review: Fire Emblem: Mystery Of The Emblem (SNES)
This review's very existence made me do a double-take. I thought it had been released on the VC when I saw it up. My mistake.
Re: Nintendo Download: 10th March (North America)
So we get the "neither" choice now. When do we get the "join Smash" choice? =P
Re: Here's Why SNES VC Games Can Only be Played on a New 3DS
(looks at Dragon Ball Z: Super Budoten 2, which I got as a preorder bonus months ago for Ultimate Budoten on my old 3DS and it works fine)
Right.
Re: Video: The Mashiko Mystery Mushroom Outfit in Super Mario Maker is Evidently Self Aware
"Tipping point of ideas running out" might be a little premature. I mean, this is one of the costumes that trace files were found in the data when the game was first released. This one's been planned from the start.
Re: Nintendo Warns It'll Block Rule Breaker's Access to Super Mario Maker's Online Features
It's good that they're blocking star requests. The influx of "heart 4 heart" spam in the LittleBigPlanet series made it pretty much unplayable.
At the same time, though, they should remove the star-based limit on uploads to make it less tempting to get desperate.
Re: SNES Games Finally Arriving on the New Nintendo 3DS Virtual Console
(Looks at the comments)
Ugh. I'm going to buy everything just to spite all of you.

Re: Ubisoft Battling To Resist Hostile Takeover From Media Giant Vivendi
I don't feel sorry for them in the least. They're being rewarded as a traitor deserves.
Re: Pokémon Sun And Moon Confirmed For 3DS Release This Holiday Season
Plot twist; watch Moon have wild Solrock and Sun have wild Lunatone.
Re: Pokémon Bank Support Confirmed for Virtual Console Releases of Red, Blue and Yellow
I hope Sun/Moon will have a recreation of MissingNo. to support RBY's connection. I want to pet mine if G7 has both it and Pokémon-Amie.
Of course, it will probably just refuse to upload MissingNo. like it does with any hacked pokémon from G3-5.
Re: Missingno is Still in the Virtual Console Releases of Pokémon
YAY
YAY

I loved my own Ghost MissingNo. so much when I was a kid. I was so worried they'd take it out and I wouldn't get to see her again. Now I know I can play with her again.

Re: Analyst Firm DFC Believes a 2016 Nintendo NX Launch "Would Be a Mistake"
I agree with the analyst. Releasing the NX this year would be a gigantic middle finger to loyal Wii U owners.
Re: Hyperkin's ProCube Controller is Heading to GameStop in North America
While I already have things to play Smash with, this is gonna be a lifesaver for Wind Waker HD and Twilight Princess HD.
Re: Weirdness: This Super Mario Maker Level is a Functioning Calculator
At first I wondered, "why only 1-7?"
Then I realized, "...oh."

Ah crap, it's a store thing, not a Mystery Gift? Damn it...
Re: Splatoon Producer Hints at More Content Being Added in the Future
Turning back on a promise to shut things off for good? HINT HINT, SAKURAI.
Re: Fire Emblem Fates Removes 'Petting' Feature in Western Localisation
Ah man, it would've been good for some laughs.

Re: Wii U System Version 5.5.1 is Now Available
@nesmaniac That sounds like a problem with yours specifically to me. Maybe you should call Nintendo Tech Support if your warranty's still active.

Re: Nintendo Download: 31st December (North America)
...why is Olaf's Quest still getting regular promotions?
Re: Talking Point: The Easily Forgotten Hardware Release of 2015 - New Nintendo 3DS
"Lovely but underutilized"; you can say that about literally every decent piece of hardware Nintendo has ever released.
They're kind of idiots when it comes to their hardware.
Re: Review: Sketch Wars (Wii U eShop)
The eShop's wares keep getting sketchier. Nintendo has to learn to draw the line somewhere.

Re: Review: Animal Crossing: Wild World (Wii U eShop / DS)
I'm still getting it when and if it ever comes out in the States. There's some minor elements in it that aren't in future titles that I miss.
Re: Splatoon Developers on the Future of Splatoon and DLC
Not even a full year and official support is already ending? On an always-online game? Hmmph.
Re: Accusations of Plagiarism Directed at Popular Super Mario Maker Level Creator

Shame to see it happening to another game...
Re: Tri Force Heroes Developers Talk About the Engine it was Built on and a Cut Costume Idea
They already referenced that story in Wind Waker, I remember; how the "Hero's New Clothes", worn over his pajamas, are made out of light.
Re: Nintendo Remains Bullish Around the 3DS and Its Future Prospects
It BETTER be here to stay. There'd be no point to the New 3DS if it became obsolete so soon.
