I would definitely love to see a new Star Fox (preferably in the style of Starlink: Battle for Atlas), plus ports of PlayStation games (like Final Fantasy VII Remake and Rebirth, as well as Stellar Blade) and even Xbox games (like Halo: The Master Chief Collection and Hi-Fi Rush). It would also be nice to finally get Genshin Impact on the system, so I can take it on the go and not have to fight with the touchscreen controls that I have in my iPhone 15 Pro.
Outside of games, it would be nice to have streaming services like Netflix, Hulu, Paramount+, Disney+, Crunchyroll, HIDIVE, Max, and more. Maybe even include a native web browser, also with video playback (for websites like YouTube, Dailymotion, Twitch, and others). Also, include Discord as an app so you can chat with friends while gaming.
@Jack_Goetz I don't know what operating system the computers at work use. And even then, I would not install anything without the permission from my bosses and IT. Remember, these are company-owned computers, not my own personal PC. I can't just install any random thing on them without permission.
What would be nice is if they made a version for smartwatches or web browsers. I am not allowed to have my phone on me at work, so I can't listen to Nintendo Music while I am on the clock. But if they made a version for smartwatches or web browsers, then it gives me a means to do so.
It may depend on the region. As of today (March 4, 2025), the tariffs on imports from Canada, Mexico, and China have officially kicked in here in the United States. Electronic devices such as video game consoles will be included in those tariffs. The Switch 2 will be no different.
My fear is that it may depress sales here in the United States, especially if inflation skyrockets and people start losing their jobs due to an economic downturn (stagflation, as it's called), forcing people to tighten their belts and not splurge on luxuries like video games and consoles.
@KingMike I wouldn't be surprised if they did do that. Anything to make a buck. But even then, as I said, this was right when the store opened for the day, so there likely wasn't a kid around for miles. But these mad dashes for the trading card aisle and cleaning it out in a matter of seconds is why stores implemented policies where an employee would hand out packs of trading cards to people waiting in line, and limit them to one pack per customer.
@SurprisedRobinChu I would not go as far as to say that scalping itself is a brain disease. Rather, the greed that causes it is the brain disease. And now we're seeing the same thing with Stanley travel mugs. Some people are even going as far as to shoplift these products to sell them on the secondary market.
Xenoblade Chronicles X is the one I am looking forward to (already got it preordered at Best Buy), but I might just check out that Carmen Sandiego game if the reviews are decent. I've played Carmen Sandiego games before, but never one where you play as the titular character herself, so it might be an interesting experience.
My guess is it's to deter scalpers. I remember a few years ago when scalpers were scooping these cards up like they were going out of style. I remember one video that I found quite sad (as in, pathetic sad, not boo-hoo sad) where a whole bunch of middle-aged guys literally raced into a store right as it opened for the day, rushed to the trading card aisle, and started shoveling everything into their carts. Picked the shelves clean in a matter of seconds. And all so they could flip them for a profit. Even I was like, "Get a life, dudes."
I never get rid of my old consoles, unless they're broken. As in, damaged beyond repair. There's only one console that my family had that ever met that criteria, and it was our original model Wii, which got fried when a bolt of lightning struck our house in August 2016.
And because we never backed it up onto an SD card, all of the save data was gone, meaning I couldn't transfer the data to my Wii U. So I have to start all over from scratch with many of my games, which will take time (especially with a game like Super Smash Bros. Brawl, given how many collectibles there are in that game).
Honestly, I'd rather that Pokémon be given a bit of a rest. I know it's one of Nintendo's biggest franchises, but they have plenty of other franchises under their belt that have largely been ignored, such as F-Zero, Star Fox, Kid Icarus, etc.
I actually had my own idea for a Zelda anime intro, set to the tune of the DragonForce song "Power of the Triforce." The song legit sounds just like an anime intro! In fact, I was able to edit the song down to just under a minute and a half, the average length for an anime intro. And it works!
From there, I was able to storyboard in my head the intro animation, and from that point, created an outline for a Zelda light novel that I am planning on writing, complete with descriptions for the main characters. I hope to eventually have it be adapted into a manga, and finally an anime (using "Power of the Triforce" as the intro theme).
@Solid_Python The way I see it, better to have a game arrive late than have a defective copy that damages my system. And personally, I've never had much trouble with LRG before. It just takes a while for orders to be fulfilled, in my case.
From what I have read, Trump wants to impose tariffs on ALL imports, regardless of which nation they come from. So even if Nintendo were to manufacture the Switch 2 in a country other than China, it would still be subject to tariffs regardless. One can only hope that Nintendo would be willing to sell the Switch 2 at even more of a loss than they previously would have to keep prices low for the consumer.
@Princess_Lilly The thing is, I don't think many people would have cared much if Genshin was made by a Japanese, Western, or even Korean game developer. But because the game was made by a Chinese company, people just automatically assumed that it was a cheap knockoff of Zelda, given the reputation that the Chinese have of making cheap, low-quality knockoffs of official products. I think what it boils down to is anti-Chinese sentiment more than anything else, if you ask me.
If you really think about it, no one complains that much (if at all) when Japanese or Western games repackage gameplay elements from other games (Shantae whipping enemies with her hair à la Simon Belmont from Castlevania, or Link climbing Sheikah Towers à la Altaïr or Ezio from Assassin's Creed), but people complained about Genshin doing it. It's that double standard that ticks me off. Of course, I'm not saying you are applying a double standard to the game, but in general, other people are quick to condemn for Genshin what they excuse for other games. And the only explanation that I can think of is because it was made by a Chinese game developer.
I will admit, though, I am kicking myself that I didn't start Genshin earlier. I did start kind of early (Version 1.6, with the Midsummer Island Adventure event), but once I learned about the events that came before, I very much regretted not starting earlier, especially when the Unreconciled Stars event (the one with the meteorite that you mentioned) was going on. At the very least, it would be nice to see those events be repackaged into some sort of Story Quest or replayable memories, so you can snag any rewards that you missed.
As cool as that light-up arm cannon is, I think I might have to skip this one. I just don't have enough space right now for more statues (and I've got the Sheikah Slate set to arrive today, according to UPS, although it could arrive tomorrow at the latest). Maybe if they did a new one of Zero Suit Samus (I say new, as I felt that the face on their original one felt off), I might consider it.
But at this point, the only Nintendo character I want to see them do is Krystal from Star Fox (preferably in her suit from Assault, which was my favorite outfit of hers, although I could get behind her outfit from Adventures or Command as well).
I didn't see much of Gundam SEED, but what little I did see of it, I did like it. I might just check this out, especially if Lacus Clyne is in it.
But what would be REALLY neat is if they remastered all of the Neon Genesis Evangelion games, gave them English translations, and released them here in the West. Not just the N64 game (which was a fighting game), but also the RPG games (such as those for the PS2), and especially the visual novels (like Girlfriend of Steel, Girlfriend of Steel 2nd, Shinji Ikari Raising Project, and Ayanami Raising Project), Battle Orchestra, and more.
Furthermore, bring back the voice actors from the ADV Films dub (Spike Spencer as Shinji Ikari, Tiffany Grant as Asuka Langley Soryu, Amanda Winn-Lee as Rei Ayanami, Allison Keith as Misato Katsuragi, etc.) to do an official English Dub of the games. That would make me happy in so many ways. Those games would definitely be Day 1 purchases for me, especially if they can bring the original English voice cast back!
I mean, it’d be cool if they could make a new Rogue Squadron game. We haven’t had one since Rebel Strike for the GameCube. And since this was a developer for Star Fox we’re talking about here, a Rogue Squadron game would be right up his alley.
@Princess_Lilly As someone who has played Genshin Impact for the last three years, I can tell you that it is by no means a ripoff. Yes, it takes some inspiration from other fantasy games like Zelda when it comes to gameplay, but that’s like saying that Shantae is a ripoff of Metroid and Castlevania (since the Shantae series is classified as a Metroidvania), or that Undertale is a ripoff of Earthbound.
What sets all of those games apart is the world that the game developers created. Speaking as a writer and a gamer, I am increasingly of the belief that the most important aspect of any video game is the world-building and storytelling. That’s what truly sets a game apart from the rest in its respective genre.
Besides, do you think that the Zelda series came up with all of its gameplay elements on its own? Climbing Sheikah Towers to light up portions of the map is no different than what you did in Assassin’s Creed, where you climbed up to a high perch to light up a part of the map. Middle-earth: Shadow of Mordor did this as well, and that also came out before BOTW. Plus, the original Zelda borrowed certain elements from Hydlide, which came out before Zelda did.
So, yeah, Genshin Impact is not a ripoff, despite what people say. And it stands as one of my favorite games in recent years. Maybe even more so than Zelda, especially since it always gives me something to come back to, with frequent updates, events, and quests to complete. Can’t really say the same thing about Zelda: once I complete a Zelda game, I find it hard to play again, since the wonder of playing it for the first time is gone.
@Dan420 No, but the economists are speculating that the tariffs could make inflation rise again. That's my big fear. And you have every right to be concerned about my financial situation. I make roughly $2000 a month. Yes, it is somewhat decent, but where I live, it's not enough to live on, much less splurge on luxuries like a Switch 2.
Speaking as an American, I am less concerned about the MSRP than I am about any tariffs that will be imposed on the Switch 2 that will drive the price up further here in the United States, given that it will no doubt be manufactured overseas, and our current president wants to slap tariffs on all imported goods, including game consoles. I didn’t vote for him, but I am very much concerned about how much more expensive he is going to make my favorite hobby.
Aww, dangit! I forgot that this was happening! Between work, celebrating my father’s birthday, and then the Super Bowl, I just didn’t have time. First Splatfest that I missed for Splatoon 3.
I mean, I loved E3 (it was my favorite time of the year, to the point where I even wrote a song set to tune of the Andy Williams Christmas song "It's the Most Wonderful Time of the Year"), but I think the writing was on the wall well before the COVID-19 pandemic hit.
Once industry giants opted for a digital presentation instead of a live stage show and/or floor presence (such as Nintendo in 2013 and Sony in 2019), E3's days were numbered. The pandemic simply accelerated that decline.
With the advent of livestreaming and pre-recorded videos, I doubt the major game publishers will necessarily be willing to support this event for very long, especially if the event organizers can't come up with a new angle to distinguish it from E3.
As much as I love events like E3, even I think it may be time to let the format die and to continue with pre-recorded shows and livestreams going forward. It's the way of the future, after all.
Look, if I'm being serious here, I would love to see them properly support the Switch 2 instead of dropping support after a year. Personally, I would love to see the Mirror's Edge games come to the Switch 2 (both the original and the reboot, and maybe even the mobile game, if possible). And heck, I'd be willing to try out the EA Star Wars: Battlefront games on the Switch, as well as Jedi: Fallen Order, Jedi: Survivor, and Squadrons.
The minute this was even announced was the minute Nintendo was going to catch wind of it and shut it down. Seriously, when will people learn to stop doing Kickstarter campaigns for projects based on Nintendo IP? Either self-fund, or come up with something original that is inspired by a Nintendo game and fund it on Kickstarter (such as Mika and The Witch's Mountain or Godshard Chronicles, two games which I backed last year).
@rvcolem1 And even then, it's just Legacy Editions, which is basically just the 2017 version with updated kits and rosters. It's for that reason why each successive entry in their EA Sports lineup on the Nintendo Switch has scored worse and worse on this site. It's like EA isn't even trying anymore. Heck, even LJN put in at least some effort to publish games on the NES.
Not much for sports, much less sports games, but I do like baseball (especially my home teams, the Chicago Cubs and the Chicago White Sox), so I might check this one out. As it is, the last baseball game we got was MLB Slugfest 2003 (so you can figure it's been over 20 years since we last got a baseball game for a Nintendo system, much less a proper one).
The benefit of calling it the Switch 2 and showing off the larger console and new Joy-Cons is that there will be absolutely no confusion that this is an entirely new console and not just an add-on for the previous one. This is (hopefully) not going to be another Wii U situation, where no one will buy it due to confusion.
But Nintendo now has to focus on the games, games that you cannot play anywhere else; not even on the original Switch. And they need a LOT of them. We can't have this be like the New Nintendo 3DS again, where there were only eight games that were exclusive to the system (and frankly, only two worth getting, those being Xenoblade Chronicles 3D and Fire Emblem Warriors).
And any rereleases of games from the original Switch (such as Breath of the Wild) for the Switch 2 should have any DLC included in the base game, but include exclusive bonus content, in order to incentivize buying them again instead of just popping in the original version.
Hopefully Nintendo can knock it out of the park a second time with the Switch 2, as long as they play their cards right.
@Jhena Yeah, I liked it, and most audiences did as well. The critics were more critical, though, calling it clichéd. But anyone who knows high fantasy (Tolkien in particular), knows that such clichés are par for the course.
Fortunately, the movie is already available for digital. Probably because it flopped in the theaters (grossing $20.5 million against a $30 million budget). So you can at the very least rent it.
@Jhena I kind of get what you mean. I wasn’t too big on The Hobbit Trilogy, but I did like The War of the Rohirrim. I would love to see more LOTR movies or shows done in that format, especially The Silmarillion. I could frankly see a Zelda anime looking like that. If you haven’t had the opportunity to watch that one yet, definitely do so, especially if you like anime.
@Jhena Well, in my vision for the Zelda anime, it will take some elements from Breath of the Wild (and even more specifically, its spinoff, Hyrule Warriors: Age of Calamity), but the story is largely an adaptation of the original NES game (again, with some embellishments to flesh out the story). That being said, some elements will also be taken from Zelda II for narrative purposes.
Alternatively, it would be neat to work with Kenji Kamiyama to make a Zelda anime. I don't know if you're a fan of The Lord of the Rings, but he directed the recent The War of the Rohirrim movie, which was an anime film (the first animated LOTR film since Rankin/Bass Entertainment worked with Topcraft, the predecessor to Studio Ghibli, to make their 1980 adaptation of The Return of the King). Even my mother liked the movie, and she doesn't even like anime! I could see a hypothetical Zelda anime looking a bit like that.
Well, since I'll be spending the day with my girlfriend at her place today, most likely Skyrim. I lent her my copy for the Switch, but she needs my help getting through certain parts of the game.
@Jhena My advice to you would be to watch some of the action sequences from Demon Slayer. Plus, watch the concept trailer for the Genshin Impact anime. It's about how I would envision a Zelda anime, but maybe done in Akira Himekawa's art style (or something similar).
Basically, it's going to be an action-adventure series, with some romance also thrown in. The main demographic that I'm going for is young adults (so people in their teens). I want the story to be taken seriously (unlike the 1980s cartoon), so I want the art style to reflect that.
And it's not like it HAS to be Ufotable. I just say them because their concept trailer for the Genshin Impact anime looked beautiful, and given that they did excellent work with the fight scenes in Demon Slayer (and there will be plenty of that in my idea for a Zelda anime). It can be almost any other anime studio, such as MAPPA or Kyoto Animation. But I just don't think Ghibli is the right fit. The kind of story I'm trying to tell is not the kind they usually tell.
While it would be nice if Nintendo did one final Direct for the original Switch, I am not holding my breath for it. As it is, with the Switch 2 on the horizon, I doubt people are going to be buying new games for their original Switches for much longer.
This reminds me of when they were trying to sell life-sized statues of Ryza from Atelier Ryza for $25,000 a pop a few years ago. Makes me wonder if anyone did buy those. I’ll be honest: if I had the money at the time, I would have considered it. And if this Gardevoir plushie comes to the West, I’d consider getting this one, too!
@Jhena Well, the ultimate goal for that light novel is for it to become an anime, preferably animated by Ufotable (given that they have done excellent work with Demon Slayer, and are in charge of the upcoming Genshin Impact anime). I know many people say Studio Ghibli, but I do not feel that they are the best choice, given that action-adventure stories are not really their forté (especially since the closest they got to a Zelda anime, Tales from Earthsea, was not that good of a film).
But I was actually inspired to write it after listening to the DragonForce single "Power of the Triforce," which they released in 2023. It sounds just like a song that you would hear for an anime intro. So what I did was take the song and use some clever editing to trim it down to a minute and 25 seconds, roughly the average length for an anime intro. I even storyboarded a hypothetical Zelda anime intro in my head set to this song! I hope to use it as the anime's theme should it ever be made!
@Jhena Sadly, Nintendo will never even consider that idea, even though it would revolutionize the series. In fact, it specifically says on their website that they don't accept ideas from the fans. Maybe if I was a game developer and had a working demo of it, things might be different, but as of right now, Nintendo would not even give me the time of day.
It's likely the same thing with the light novel series I'm working on that adapts the original Zelda game (with some elements from other Zelda games thrown in to flesh out the plot). I'll probably have to get at least the first volume written before submitting it to Nintendo for approval.
This reminds me of when two businesses named Burger King sued each other for the use of the name "Burger King." In Mattoon, Illinois, there is an independently-owned restaurant that was named Burger King that bills itself as "The Original Burger King"). Well, when the corporate Burger King (which was founded in Florida) started to enter the Illinois market, the Mattoon Burger King sued in state court for the trademark. The corporate Burger King countersued in federal court, and since federal law supersedes state law, the federal ruling was the one that applied.
What ended up happening was that the corporate Burger King could not operate a location within a 20-mile radius of Mattoon, with the Mattoon Burger King being the epicenter of that radius. Likewise, the Mattoon Burger King could not operate outside that 20-mile radius. The corporate Burger King did offer the owners of the Mattoon Burger King $10,000 to operate a franchise within that 20-mile radius, but the owners refused.
This is just my hot take, but what I want from Mario Kart 9 is for it to be the last Mario Kart entry for a while, and give other racing games in Nintendo's repertoire some time out in the sun.
For example, I'd rather much we get a new story-driven open-world F-Zero game with gameplay similar to GTA V (minus the part where you are a criminal). I would love to see how Captain Falcon came to be the famous bounty hunter that he is today, and be able to drive vehicles other than just an F-Zero racer.
I know a lot of people love Mario Kart, and I respect that, but there is very little with the series to really wow me anymore. Besides, playing Mario Kart 7 to death kind of killed the series for me. I don't even have Mario Kart 8, either for the Wii U or the Switch.
No point in applying, since none of the demo experiences were anywhere close to me. I live in the Chicago area, and the only cities in the United States that will be hosting this shindig are New York City, Los Angeles, and Dallas.
I am not going to put in the time off from work (as it is, I blew through all of my sick time after coming down with norovirus a week before Christmas and then COVID a couple days after the New Year), and then spend hundreds or even thousands of dollars to travel to a city I've never been to for just a few minutes of playing the new Nintendo console.
Maybe if it came to Chicago (or even Milwaukee, which is also another city near me), I would have considered it, but as it stands right now, it's simply not worth it. I'll just have to wait until it launches.
@SlamDunk22 Same here. I would have considered it if the event was coming to Chicago or Milwaukee (since I live roughly halfway between those two cities), but I am not about to fly to New York, Los Angeles, or Dallas just for a few minutes of playing the Switch 2. Gonna have to wait for launch day.
Kid: "I want Black Myth: Wukong!" Parent: "We have Black Myth: Wukong at home." Black Myth: Wukong at home: [see above video]
But in all fairness, let's not forget that the box art for games back in the 1980s and 1990s were gross misrepresentations of what we actually got. You'd get an absolutely bada** cover art, and the actual game itself looked more cutesy. So I'm not going to fault them for the "box art" not accurately reflecting the actual in-game art style.
That being said, it is a shameless cash grab, and Nintendo should frankly police it a bit more. After all, it was an overabundance of low-quality titles on the Atari 2600 that led to the Video Game Crash of 1983. It was also the wealth of low-quality titles for the Wii that helped lead people to believe that it was just for kids when it was actually for people of all ages. And it's frankly a wonder that the wealth of low-quality titles for the NES didn't leave a black stain on its legacy (and given how many NES games the Angry Video Game Nerd has reviewed, it's especially mind-boggling).
Even though I already have a copy of the movie, I was somewhat interested up until I read that it was a Walmart exclusive. As a matter of principle, I refuse to shop at Walmart, given how poorly they treat their employees, especially when it comes to their attendance policy.
A few years ago, I read a rather disturbing exposé that said that Walmart treats all absences, no matter the reason, as automatically unexcused. It's corporate policy. So even if you're deathly ill, Walmart will hold that against you. Have enough absences on your record within a set period, and they fire you.
No joke, you could have a heart attack and be in the hospital for a week, and they can fire you for it. Break a leg and can't work for a month? Fired. And forget trying to present a doctor's note; the manager will tear it up in front of you and throw it in the trash.
So, out of solidarity with the workers, I boycott Walmart and encourage everyone else to do the same. No limited-edition steelbook case of the Mario movie is going to convince me to suddenly start spending my hard-earned money there.
I do definitely like the TOTK one, especially because you get the Froggy Armor, which increases slip resistance while climbing; and once you upgrade the set by two levels, it makes you slip-proof, meaning you will never slip while climbing in the rain again. It's basically the most practical of payoffs for the sidequests in the game, even though building Tarrey Town in BOTW is more emotionally satisfying (especially with the wedding).
I mean, I've heard the rumor that the Halo: Master Chief Collection would be coming to the Switch 2. As cool as that would be, I'm not holding my breath for it. More than likely, Microsoft is talking about Minecraft, The Elder Scrolls (with the millionth rerelease of Skyrim, no doubt), and Doom.
It would be nice if they could get Fallout 4 on the system, given that it uses the same game engine as Skyrim. Kind of surprised they didn't port it to the original Switch, since they ported Skyrim. Maybe with the Switch 2, it will finally come to the platform.
@Aurumonado Yeah, it does kind of suck. Then again, I have the Collectors Edition of the Wii U version, so I'm kind of good there. Would have been nice if they included the entire soundtrack in the USB drive that came with it, but it probably wouldn't have mattered anyway; that USB drive is so badly DRM'ed that it's practically unusable.
Definitely considering getting this. I have the GBA version (in fact, it was the first GBA game I ever got, back when I got my GBA for Christmas many years ago). That version is playable, but many of the platforming elements are super frustrating. But I always wanted to play this version, especially since it's got my boy Plo Koon. Not only will I finally be able to play this version, I'll be able to take it on the go, just like I used to with the GBA version!
Now we just need to get the Rogue Squadron games remastered.
@Mgalens That was DIC Entertainment. DIC dubbed the first two seasons of Sailor Moon (Sailor Moon and Sailor Moon R), and Cloverway dubbed the third and fourth seasons (Sailor Moon S and Sailor Moon Super S). The fifth and final season, Sailor Moon Sailor Stars, was never dubbed into English back in the 1990s.
I know a lot of Sailor Moon fans prefer the old dubs, but I just can’t stand them. I don’t think the voices fit for the characters (case in point, Usagi sounds like a 40-year-old woman instead of a 14-year-old girl), they made numerous edits and changes, they strayed too far from the original Japanese scripts, etc.
The Viz Media dub is so much better. The voices sound age-appropriate, there are minimal edits and changes, and it tries to stay as faithful to the original Japanese scripts as possible.
@johnedwin You'd be surprised how much LGBTQ+ representation in Japanese media gets censored in the West. Case in point, the Cloverway Dub of Sailor Moon S. They tried to make Sailor Uranus and Sailor Neptune cousins instead of lovers here in the West due to anti-LGBTQ+ sentiments that were predominant at the time.

Picked the shelves clean in a matter of seconds. And all so they could flip them for a profit. Even I was like, "Get a life, dudes."

Re: Be Warned, Two NES Titles From Limited Run Games May Damage Your Console
@Solid_Python The way I see it, better to have a game arrive late than have a defective copy that damages my system. And personally, I've never had much trouble with LRG before. It just takes a while for orders to be fulfilled, in my case.
Re: Nintendo "Establishing Ways To Respond" To U.S. Tariffs, Says Furukawa
Re: Sony Does What Nintendon't By Removing A Bunch Of 'eSlop' Titles
Re: Metroid Prime First 4 Figures 'Samus Phazon Suit' Sneak Peek, Pre-Orders Open Soon
Re: PlayStation Vita Exclusive 'Mobile Suit Gundam SEED: Battle Destiny' Is Getting Remastered For Switch
Re: Star Fox Dev Wants To Work With CD Projeck Red On Star Wars, Of All Things
I mean, it’d be cool if they could make a new Rogue Squadron game. We haven’t had one since Rebel Strike for the GameCube. And since this was a developer for Star Fox we’re talking about here, a Rogue Squadron game would be right up his alley.
Re: Sony Does What Nintendon't By Removing A Bunch Of 'eSlop' Titles
Re: Rumour: Placeholder Retail Listing Suggests Switch 2 Price Might Be Cheaper Than Expected
Re: Rumour: Placeholder Retail Listing Suggests Switch 2 Price Might Be Cheaper Than Expected
Re: Team White Chocolate Grabs The Win In Splatoon 3's Returning Sweet Treat Splatfest
Aww, dangit! I forgot that this was happening! Between work, celebrating my father’s birthday, and then the Super Bowl, I just didn’t have time. First Splatfest that I missed for Splatoon 3.
Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? (8th February)
Gonna try to play more of Hyrule Warriors: Age of Calamity. Maybe some of the Shantae games.
Re: E3's Entertainment Software Association Returns With A New Industry Event
Re: EA: Switch 2 Could Help Games Like FC And Madden "Find Real Energy"
Look, if I'm being serious here, I would love to see them properly support the Switch 2 instead of dropping support after a year. Personally, I would love to see the Mirror's Edge games come to the Switch 2 (both the original and the reboot, and maybe even the mobile game, if possible). And heck, I'd be willing to try out the EA Star Wars: Battlefront games on the Switch, as well as Jedi: Fallen Order, Jedi: Survivor, and Squadrons.
Re: Nintendo Shuts Down Live-Action Zelda Fan Film, 'Lost In Hyrule'
The minute this was even announced was the minute Nintendo was going to catch wind of it and shut it down. Seriously, when will people learn to stop doing Kickstarter campaigns for projects based on Nintendo IP? Either self-fund, or come up with something original that is inspired by a Nintendo game and fund it on Kickstarter (such as Mika and The Witch's Mountain or Godshard Chronicles, two games which I backed last year).
Re: PlayStation Is Bringing MLB The Show 25 To Nintendo Switch This March
@rvcolem1 And even then, it's just Legacy Editions, which is basically just the 2017 version with updated kits and rosters. It's for that reason why each successive entry in their EA Sports lineup on the Nintendo Switch has scored worse and worse on this site. It's like EA isn't even trying anymore. Heck, even LJN put in at least some effort to publish games on the NES.
Re: PlayStation Is Bringing MLB The Show 25 To Nintendo Switch This March
Not much for sports, much less sports games, but I do like baseball (especially my home teams, the Chicago Cubs and the Chicago White Sox), so I might check this one out. As it is, the last baseball game we got was MLB Slugfest 2003 (so you can figure it's been over 20 years since we last got a baseball game for a Nintendo system, much less a proper one).
Re: Ex-PlayStation Boss On Switch 2's Name: Nintendo Created So Much "Brand Value"
Re: Talking Point: What Do We Actually Want From 'Mario Kart 9'?
@Jhena Yeah, I liked it, and most audiences did as well. The critics were more critical, though, calling it clichéd. But anyone who knows high fantasy (Tolkien in particular), knows that such clichés are par for the course.
Fortunately, the movie is already available for digital. Probably because it flopped in the theaters (grossing $20.5 million against a $30 million budget). So you can at the very least rent it.
Re: Talking Point: What Do We Actually Want From 'Mario Kart 9'?
@Jhena I kind of get what you mean. I wasn’t too big on The Hobbit Trilogy, but I did like The War of the Rohirrim. I would love to see more LOTR movies or shows done in that format, especially The Silmarillion. I could frankly see a Zelda anime looking like that. If you haven’t had the opportunity to watch that one yet, definitely do so, especially if you like anime.
Re: Talking Point: What Do We Actually Want From 'Mario Kart 9'?
Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? (1st February)
Well, since I'll be spending the day with my girlfriend at her place today, most likely Skyrim. I lent her my copy for the Switch, but she needs my help getting through certain parts of the game.
Re: Talking Point: What Do We Actually Want From 'Mario Kart 9'?
Re: Poll: With No Switch 2 News Until April, Is A February Nintendo Direct On The Cards?
While it would be nice if Nintendo did one final Direct for the original Switch, I am not holding my breath for it. As it is, with the Switch 2 on the horizon, I doubt people are going to be buying new games for their original Switches for much longer.
Re: Random: Oh No, You Can Buy A Life-Sized Gardevoir Plush From Pokémon Center
This reminds me of when they were trying to sell life-sized statues of Ryza from Atelier Ryza for $25,000 a pop a few years ago. Makes me wonder if anyone did buy those. I’ll be honest: if I had the money at the time, I would have considered it. And if this Gardevoir plushie comes to the West, I’d consider getting this one, too!
Re: Talking Point: What Do We Actually Want From 'Mario Kart 9'?
Re: Talking Point: What Do We Actually Want From 'Mario Kart 9'?
@Jhena Sadly, Nintendo will never even consider that idea, even though it would revolutionize the series. In fact, it specifically says on their website that they don't accept ideas from the fans. Maybe if I was a game developer and had a working demo of it, things might be different, but as of right now, Nintendo would not even give me the time of day.
It's likely the same thing with the light novel series I'm working on that adapts the original Zelda game (with some elements from other Zelda games thrown in to flesh out the plot). I'll probably have to get at least the first volume written before submitting it to Nintendo for approval.
Re: Random: Local Supermarket Wins Trademark Battle Against Nintendo
This case kind of reminds me of that.
Re: Talking Point: What Do We Actually Want From 'Mario Kart 9'?
Re: Splatoon 3's Chocolate Splatfest Returns Next Month
Of course, always on a weekend when I have to work. Milk Chocolate all the way, though.
Re: Poll: So, Were You Accepted For The Nintendo Switch 2 Hands-On Event?
Re: PSA: 'Nintendo Switch 2 Experience' Invites Are Now Being Sent Out
@SlamDunk22 Same here. I would have considered it if the event was coming to Chicago or Milwaukee (since I live roughly halfway between those two cities), but I am not about to fly to New York, Los Angeles, or Dallas just for a few minutes of playing the Switch 2. Gonna have to wait for launch day.
Re: PSA: Don't Fall For This New 'Wukong' Game On The Switch eShop
Kid: "I want Black Myth: Wukong!"
Parent: "We have Black Myth: Wukong at home."
Black Myth: Wukong at home: [see above video]
Re: Mario Movie Scores A New "Limited-Edition" Steelbook, Pre-Orders Live
Re: 15 Best Sidequests In Switch Games
I do definitely like the TOTK one, especially because you get the Froggy Armor, which increases slip resistance while climbing; and once you upgrade the set by two levels, it makes you slip-proof, meaning you will never slip while climbing in the rain again. It's basically the most practical of payoffs for the sidequests in the game, even though building Tarrey Town in BOTW is more emotionally satisfying (especially with the wedding).
Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? (25th January)
Genshin Impact. It's Lantern Rite once again.
Re: Xbox Is "Really Looking Forward" To Supporting Switch 2
Re: Xenoblade Chronicles X: Definitive Edition Metal Poster Pre-Order Bonus Revealed
Re: Review: Star Wars: Episode I: Jedi Power Battles (Switch) - Uncivilised But Not Unenjoyable
Re: Nintendo Bags GLAAD Nomination For Paper Mario's Trans Representation
Re: Nintendo Bags GLAAD Nomination For Paper Mario's Trans Representation
@johnedwin You'd be surprised how much LGBTQ+ representation in Japanese media gets censored in the West. Case in point, the Cloverway Dub of Sailor Moon S. They tried to make Sailor Uranus and Sailor Neptune cousins instead of lovers here in the West due to anti-LGBTQ+ sentiments that were predominant at the time.
