Re: Star Wars Actor Daisy Ridley Presents An Overview Of 'Monster Hunter'

AstroTheGamosian

Part of me wonders if she is into video games. It's not every day when you hear about a celebrity actor who enjoys the hobby. The only one that really comes to mind for me is Elijah Wood (Frodo Baggins in The Lord of the Rings Trilogy, plus The Hobbit Trilogy).

By his own admission, he is a gamer, and aside from lending his voice to The Lord of the Rings video games, he's also lent his voice to the Spyro series, voicing the eponymous dragon in The Legend of Spyro Trilogy.

Re: Reaction: The Game Awards Left Us With One Big Question: Will Any Of This Run On Switch 2?

AstroTheGamosian

@larryisaman Well, as long as the successor to the Switch can run Genshin Impact, I'm happy. I prefer to play that one on PC, and my iPhone 15 Pro can run it quite smoothly, but since I hate playing a game like that with touchscreen controls, if I am to take the game on the go, I'd prefer an actual controller, with joysticks and buttons. What'd also be nice is if the successor to the Switch had VR capabilities, more so than what they did with the Nintendo Labo VR set.

Re: Reaction: The Game Awards Left Us With One Big Question: Will Any Of This Run On Switch 2?

AstroTheGamosian

I would have probably enjoyed it a lot more if my sleep schedule didn't have me getting tired by 8:00 at night due to me having to start work at 6:00 in the morning (this being despite the fact that I am now on a five-day weekend starting today). I was legit fighting to stay awake by the end of it.

In any case, until the successor to the Switch (I refuse to call it Switch 2 until Nintendo themselves reveal the console's name; in fact, a GameStop employee told me that their Nintendo rep specifically told them not to call it the Switch 2 when talking about it with customers) and its specs are revealed, I am not holding my breath as to what games will be coming to it.

Yes, it would be nice to get The Witcher IV, but given how lifelike the game looks, I doubt the successor to the Switch would be able to run it. Then again, if the Switch can handle the Special Edition of Skyrim as well as The Witcher III, it's very well possible that The Witcher IV could come to the Switch's successor.

Re: Random: PlayStation's Astro Bot Director Pays Tribute To Mario And Nintendo In GOTY Speech

AstroTheGamosian

I've always been a fan of platformers, both 2D and 3D. Astro Bot is no exception. But as Nicolas Doucet said, it takes inspiration from Mario. Really, in many ways, Nintendo inspired many game developers. If anything, it inspired the entire video game industry and continues to do so. It's been THE leader in innovation for gameplay for the last 40 years across multiple genres. Games like Astro Bot would not be possible today without games like Super Mario Bros. paving the way.

It may be a pipe dream, but I think it would be really neat if Mario and Astro Bot did a crossover game, that combines the concepts of Super Mario Galaxy and Astro Bot, and each level has areas with hidden collectibles that can only be accessible by one character or the other. At the very least, it would be nice to see Astro become a playable character in Super Smash Bros., being the first first-party character from Sony to do so (although I could also see Aloy from Horizon: Zero Dawn making the cut as well).

Re: The Game Awards GOTY For 2024 Is Astro Bot

AstroTheGamosian

From what little I played of Astro Bot (because things have been so busy at work due to the holidays, I am just simply too tired to play it when I get home), I enjoyed it very much. Glad to see that it won Game of the Year. As it is, I very much enjoyed Astro's Playroom, and this plays a lot like that. So I'm certain I'll have just as good of a time, if not better.

@beltmenot I do not disagree. Personally, I voted for Stellar Blade for the Best Score and Music and Best Action Game categories, The Legend of Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom for the Best Family Game and Best Action/Adventure Game categories, Metroid Prime 4: Beyond for the Most Anticipated Game category, and Genshin Impact for the Players' Voice category.

If I'm being honest, I really wanted Stellar Blade to win the music category, because its soundtrack is an absolute banger. Over ten hours worth of music tracks, and all of it epic. Even my mother liked what little she heard of it the other day. In fact, I listen to it quite frequently on Apple Music when I am at work or when I'm driving.

Quite a few people in the live chat also wanted it to win, and were really upset that it didn't win. Some were even going as far as to say it was rigged in favor of Final Fantasy VII Rebirth. I was also disappointed, but I would not go as far as to say it was rigged. After all, both are PlayStation games, so it would have ended up being one or the other. I'm actually looking forward to listening to its music once I play the game (but only after I finish playing Remake).

Re: Sonic-Style Platformer 'Freedom Planet 2' Scores Limited Run Physical Switch Release

AstroTheGamosian

Well, good thing I took the day off from work on the 20th because of my girlfriend's birthday the day prior. We'd be getting back super late from where I'm taking her for her birthday (Medieval Times), and we start work at 6:00 in the morning and work for 10 hours, so I figured it would be logical to take the next day off so we wouldn't be so tired at work. I'll try to preorder it then!

Re: Every 'Yu-Gi-Oh! Early Days Collection' Game Boy, GBC And GBA Title Officially Confirmed

AstroTheGamosian

I might get this. I have the game guide for Reshef of Destruction, but I don't actually have the game itself. And frankly, the way I see it, the adventures of Yugi and friends is Yu-Gi-Oh! in its purest form. I fail to see why franchises like GX and 5D's had to exist if Yugi wasn't going to be the focus. At that point, they should have just taken Yu-Gi-Oh! out of the title and called it Duel Monsters, then Duel Monsters GX, Duel Monsters 5D's, etc.

Re: Talking Point: Can Sony And Microsoft Really Compete With Nintendo In A New 'Handheld War'?

AstroTheGamosian

Well, if we look at things historically, many game companies have tried their hand at a handheld (Sega, Atari, Sony, etc.), but Nintendo is the only game company with a thriving handheld market, having had some form of handheld since the Game & Watch launched in 1980.

If anything, with the exception of the Wii, Nintendo's most successful consoles have been their handhelds. The Switch is unique in that it is both a handheld and a home console, but many primarily use it as a handheld device.

Heck, not even the advent of smartphones has toppled Nintendo's grip on the handheld market, even when you get console-like experiences such as Genshin Impact, Wuthering Waves, and Resident Evil on smartphones.

It would take a lot for Microsoft and Sony to remotely come close to Nintendo in the handheld market, much less topple the Big N in dominating it. And that's assuming that either one of them will stay in the console market for much longer (with Xbox sales basically being a joke, and Sony being over $31 billion in debt as of earlier this year).

Re: It's Over! Animal Crossing: Pocket Camp's Online Service Has Officially Ended

AstroTheGamosian

@JohnnyMind Admittedly, I only played a bit of it when it first came out, and then stopped playing. So I didn't even know they implemented microtransactions until I saw that Pumpkin Potion video.

Speaking of which, I don't know if you've ever heard of her, much less seen her content, but I have to say, I do like her model. Unlike most VTuber models, which are anime-based, hers is actually based on the old-style cartoons from the 1930s (think Disney or Betty Boop). Her chat can even drop anvils and pianos on her like what can happen in those old-style cartoons.

But if there's one other Nintendo related story of hers that I found interesting (and frankly very touching), it was when she worked at GameStop when the Wii first launched, and she helped a mother whose son was dying of a terminal illness find a Wii, which she found hidden away in the back.

Her manager was not happy that she left the register to help the woman (many were speculating that he hid the Wii so he could buy it for himself), but the woman was so grateful that she went and bought her a bagel with cream cheese and a hot chocolate as thanks for making what would be her son's last Christmas on this Earth a happy one.

Re: It's Over! Animal Crossing: Pocket Camp's Online Service Has Officially Ended

AstroTheGamosian

@JohnnyMind I recently discovered a VTuber by the name of Pumpkin Potion who worked on this game, and she told a story about how DeNA convinced Nintendo to add in microtransactions, despite DeNA apparently having a history of killing mobile games with microtransactions.

She and the rest of the dev team literally begged Nintendo to not do it, but Nintendo listened to DeNA regardless, under the notion that they could make some extra money from the game if they did so. That's when the shops, Leaf Tickets, and Fortune Cookies were added to the game.

Pumpkin Potion herself had to put out the tweet on Twitter expressing "excitement" about these features coming to the game, even though she was dying inside. But she had to put on a happy front because she worked for Nintendo. For that, she felt incredibly guilty about having to feign excitement about microtransactions coming to the game, and even apologized for doing so.

I don't know if her story breaks any NDAs, but I found it to be a little bit of an interesting story into the behind-the-scenes machinations of game development, especially for a company like Nintendo.

Re: It's Over! Animal Crossing: Pocket Camp's Online Service Has Officially Ended

AstroTheGamosian

I never got to play much of this game, if I'm being honest. I love Animal Crossing, but there are so many other games that I would prefer to play that this one quickly fell off my radar.

Little side note: I recently discovered a VTuber by the name of Pumpkin Potion who actually worked on this game. She told a story about how DeNA convinced Nintendo to add microtransactions to the game, against the advice of the dev team, which she was a part of. I wonder what she would think about this complete version?

Re: Feature: 9 Things Nintendo Could Add To Switch 2 So It's Not 'Just Another Switch'

AstroTheGamosian

StreetPass is definitely a must, especially if you can carry your data from the 3DS StreetPass over to the new console. I only downloaded the other StreetPass games right before the 3DS eShop shut down, so I never got to play them.

I still need to get all the other panels for the picture thing, though. I mean, I could use Play Coins, since I only have blue panels left, but being able to StreetPass people would make things go much quicker. Being able to continue that with the successor to the Switch would be great.

Re: New Zelda: Echoes Of Wisdom Animation Short Is So Very, Very Boring

AstroTheGamosian

You'd be surprised how much goes into making stop-motion animation. It's hundreds, if not thousands, of photos, and just as many tiny adjustments to the models to simulate the effect of movement. So if you were expecting something bigger or better, you're naturally going to be disappointed.

Personally, as a fan of stop-motion animation, I found it to be charming. Yes, it is basic, but it was still cute nonetheless. I also recognize that movies (even shorts like this) have never really been Nintendo's bread and butter. They're great at making games, but movies have never really been their thing. But they'll only get better with practice, so I say cut 'em some slack.

Re: Zelda's Voice Actor Would Love To See The Princess In "More" Playable Roles

AstroTheGamosian

When I got to meet Patricia Summersett at FanExpo Chicago back in August, she asked me if I was excited for Echoes of Wisdom. I enthusiastically said yes, telling her that I preordered two copies of the game, plus two of the Hyrule Edition Switch Lites (one of each for me, one for my girlfriend).

But I do agree with her: we need more Zelda games where the titular princess herself is playable, especially one like BOTW. I once saw some fanart of a BOTW-style Zelda game that had a maritime theme, where Zelda herself was playable. She'd ride on dolphins, fight pirates and sea creatures, explore underwater ruins, and more. Ganondorf would be a pirate captain, and Link would be an adult man with a beard.

Myself, I had an idea where the Yiga Clan steals her sacred powers from her in order to resurrect Ganondorf. Their attack gravely wounds Link in the process, leaving him on the verge of death. Zelda herself has to then travel through Hyrule and beyond, completing dungeons in order to restore her powers.

At the end of the game, she faces a dark clone of herself (designed to be a vessel for Ganondorf's spirit which uses corrupted versions of her own powers), but emerges triumphant. She then fights Ganondorf's spirit itself in the astral plane, erasing him from existence, forever preventing him from returning.

With most of her powers spent, she uses the last of them to heal Link, becoming a completely normal girl. She and Link spend the rest of their days peacefully, rebuilding Hyrule and restoring the kingdom to its former glory. Thus, the latest arc in the epic saga that is The Legend of Zelda comes to a close.

Re: Mailbox: The Death Of GameCube, Mario Party Matchmaking, Tariffs - Nintendo Life Letters

AstroTheGamosian

@Bolt_Strike It's actually my plan. And since my grandmother was originally from Czechoslovakia, I could gain Czech citizenship through declaration. That means I could then get EU citizenship and then freely live and work anywhere in the European Union. I'm thinking Ireland, because it is one of the nations in Europe with the highest percentage of English speakers (besides the United Kingdom).

Some have said that I should move to Italy, because they're practically giving houses away, but that's not an option for me either, because a couple years ago, they elected their most extreme prime minister since Benito Mussolini. Besides, the houses are dilapidated, and I'd rather live in something somewhat nice.

Re: Talking Point: What Would Be The Ideal Way To Play DS Games On 'Switch 2'?

AstroTheGamosian

I don't know what sort of form the successor to the Switch will take, but if there is one game for the DS that I would love to finally see a Western release, it's ASH: Archaic Sealed Heat. I was really interested in playing it after reading about it in Nintendo Power and seeing screenshots of the game, but it was never released outside Japan. Really hoping it will be remastered and released to all regions. Hopefully it will see more success today than it did back then.

Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? (23rd November)

AstroTheGamosian

Played Echoes of Wisdom yesterday, trying to complete it. I found all of the Might Crystals and Pieces of Heart, built all of the Automatons, and even finished the dream minigame. There might be a few more things to do, though. I still need to scan the amiibo into the game to get some special outfits, and there’s one more accessory that I need to get.

Otherwise, I want to play the next chapter of the Archon Quest in Genshin Impact, as well as exploring the new area in Natlan. Due to me having to tear down my gaming setup to replace my bedroom window, I’ve only been able to do the Daily Commissions on my phone these last few days. But with the window now replaced, I can put my gaming setup back together.

Once that’s done, I hope to play Astro Bot for the PS5, which I picked up at Best Buy yesterday while getting my screen protector replaced (ironically, it was my phone case that cracked it; I bought it specifically to prevent that from happening again, as it’s happened twice before).

Of course, this is all provided that I will have the time. Much of today will be spent moving stuff back into my bedroom, and much of tomorrow will be spent helping my girlfriend get her Christmas decorations out of storage and put up in her condo.

Re: Talking Point: What Are Your Top 5 Nintendo DS Games?

AstroTheGamosian

Super Mario 64 was always one of my favorite games growing up, but since I never had a Nintendo 64, I'd have to play it at a friend's or a relative's house. Being able to have my own copy, and a version where I could take it on the go, made me very happy.

Plus, there is so much more content in the DS version, between more characters to play as, more missions and stars to collect (some of which require a specific character in order to get), and a whole wealth of minigames to play when you want to take a break from the main game. At that point, I can more than forgive the wonky control scheme.

Spirit Tracks was also a highlight for me. I know that some people think it doesn't hold a candle to Phantom Hourglass, mainly because your train is confined to the rails instead of being able to freely roam the land like you could with Linebeck's ship in Phantom Hourglass, but I felt that Spirit Tracks addressed some of the more annoying aspects of Phantom Hourglass.

For example, there was no more time limit before you started losing health in the Tower of Spirits compared to the Temple of the Ocean King in Phantom Hourglass. Zelda was also given a larger role in the game, not only being your traveling companion, but even playing as her (the first time in the main series that you could do so, and the first time since the CD-i games in the 1990s).

I was also impressed with Metroid Prime: Hunters, even though it didn't really connect with the overall story of the Metroid Prime Trilogy. The fact that they were able to squeeze what was essentially a full Metroid Prime adventure onto a DS cartridge was impressive, to say the least. And the graphics weren't that bad, either.

I also was quite fond of the Trauma Center games. While I only have Under the Knife 2 for the DS, I enjoy the story very much, and the gameplay is solid (a lot better than Surgeon Simulator, if you ask me). I wish they would make another game in the series, preferably one with fully animated cutscenes. Maybe even make an anime.

Finally, I enjoyed Pokémon Diamond and Pearl. While I only have Pearl, I played the heck out of that game, and also loved the ability to transfer Pokémon from any Pokémon game for the Game Boy Advance to Diamond and Pearl. I considered getting the remake, but never got around to it for some reason.

Re: Nintendo Adds Metroid Prime 4: Beyond To Official Metroid Website, Says It's "Coming Soon"

AstroTheGamosian

@Knightrider1 It very well could be. As it is, we don't even know when the successor to the Switch will come out (I won't call it Switch 2 until Nintendo confirms the name, and a GameStop employee even told me that the Nintendo rep who works with the store specifically told them not to call it Switch 2). But if it's not launch day, then most likely the launch window.

Re: Random: Japanese Clinic Closes To Let Staff Play Dragon Quest III HD-2D Remake

AstroTheGamosian

@jesse_dylan I did take a bit of German back in college, but it was quite difficult. The Der/Die/Das genders tripped me up constantly. The fact that you could have a masculine or feminine pronoun for even an inanimate object baffled me. And that's just one example of the difficulty I had.

But according to Google, only 56% of Germans actually speak English. That's not too far off from the Czechs, where 50% of them know the language, from what I have heard. In comparison, about 95% of the Dutch speak English.

But I'd probably still go with Ireland, because I also have heritage and distant relatives there, and I actually identify with it more than my Bohemian heritage, despite it not being as significant in my genetic makeup. I am 50% Bohemian, and the rest is a smattering of mostly Irish, English, Welsh, and Scottish. But of it all, I identify with my Irish heritage the most.

Re: Random: Japanese Clinic Closes To Let Staff Play Dragon Quest III HD-2D Remake

AstroTheGamosian

@jesse_dylan It's frankly part of why I plan on moving to Europe. I could possibly qualify for Czech citizenship through my grandmother, who was born there and lived there until she turned 18, at which point she emigrated here to the U.S. And being a Czech citizen gives me the benefit of being an EU citizen, allowing me to live and work anywhere in the EU. I'm thinking Ireland, specifically Dublin, but I would not be opposed to Germany or the Netherlands, either.

Re: Random: Japanese Clinic Closes To Let Staff Play Dragon Quest III HD-2D Remake

AstroTheGamosian

@jesse_dylan Eh, I wouldn't know. I don't know how bad the situation is in Japan, but I know that I can never seem to get in with any doctors to save my life here in the U.S., even when I really need to, such as if I am sick.

If that ends up happening, I have to go to an urgent care clinic and wait for several hours in the waiting room before finally seeing someone. The only way I can ever see someone in a timely manner is if I get to the urgent care clinic right when they open, but even then, there will be a line of people.

Re: Sonic 3 Director Teases Another Character Reveal At The End Of The Movie

AstroTheGamosian

Personally hoping for Amy Rose or Rouge the Bat.

Or, if they want to delve into the Archie Comics series, Sally Acorn. Never did like how that storyline was rebooted and then abruptly cancelled in favor of a new storyline by IDW Comics. I so badly wanted to see Sonic defeat Eggman once and for all, restore Sally to her original form, and then finally have the two of them get married and live happily ever after.

Re: Eiji Aonuma Explains Why Zelda's Gameplay Takes Priority Over Story

AstroTheGamosian

@anubisvel I second that. A recent example of this is Stellar Blade for the PS5. The gameplay was fun and challenging, but the story was frankly generic: humanity trying to reclaim Earth from monsters that have overrun the planet, and you have to defend the last bastion of humanity from these monsters.

About the only thing I didn't see coming was that the monsters were actually former humans themselves, mutated into grotesque forms out of a need for sheer survival, and what you think are humans are actually advanced androids whose creator and deity (which was itself created by humans) declared war on humanity for unknown reasons.

Now, don't get me wrong: the story has a lot of potential. But I think they need to delve into more existential topics, such as what it means to be human. Maybe if they ever decide to make a sequel, they can flesh out the story a bit more. Here's hoping.

Re: Eiji Aonuma Explains Why Zelda's Gameplay Takes Priority Over Story

AstroTheGamosian

I've been saying for the last few years or so that the most important aspect of any video game is the story and world-building. Gameplay is also very important, but it's the story that really sets is apart from the rest of each game's respective genre.

Frankly, my favorite Zelda games are the ones with a rich, in-depth story. Twilight Princess tops that list, because its story is so deep and complex, but balanced it out with the gameplay. It's the only Zelda game I ever care to go back to. That is the kind of direction I would love to see Nintendo take the series again.

Outside of Nintendo, the big reason why I love Genshin Impact so much is because of its story. It has a deep, rich lore, a mystery waiting to be unraveled, and that story is always expanding with each new update. Even their flagship events have a story attached to them. If anything, I like it more than Zelda now because of that.

I also love Shantae much for the same reason. Despite being a Metroidvania series (and those are a dime a dozen), it created its own unique world and lore, the characters are fun and memorable, and there are twists and turns in the plotline for each game, making it fun to learn where the story is going.

Similarly, Undertale draws heavy inspiration from the Mother series in terms of gameplay, but it created its own unique world, and we ended up coming to care for the major characters in the game like they were our own friends.

So I must respectfully disagree with Aonuma-sensei here. Story is vitally important to any game, maybe more so than the gameplay itself. If you don't have a good story with the game, people will eventually get bored with it.

Re: Nintendo Music's Next Batch Of Tracks Will Arrive Next Week

AstroTheGamosian

@AmyTheBrawler Actually, from what I heard, she was 16 when Star Fox Adventures was still known as Dinosaur Planet, but when the game was reworked into a Star Fox game, they bumped up her age to 19, making her a legal adult at that point. She'd then be 20 by the time the events of Assault rolled around, and about 22 by the time the events of Command happened.

That being said, there is still a seven-year age gap between the two of them, because Fox was 18 years old in the events of 64; and since eight years passed between the events of 64 and Adventures, he would be 26 in Adventures, 27 in Assault, and 29 in Command.

And according to Dylan Cuthbert, none of the endings are canon, because the game takes place in an alternate timeline. However, the 261st issue of Nintendo Power stated that the default ending, The Anglar Emperor, is the canon ending.

Personally, I hated that that had to be the default ending. I would have preferred the one where she and Fox got married and had Marcus, the one where Krystal rejoined the team along with Amanda, or the one where they all celebrated their victory and Fox and Krystal worked reconciled.

We'll see if Nintendo decides to make another game, though. I don't know if they will, considering Zero was a commercial flop (selling less than half a million copies) and got mixed reviews over its wonky control scheme. Star Fox 2 doesn't count, in my opinion, because it was completed back in 1995 but never released until 2017, and was more or less included as a bonus on the Super NES Classic Edition.

But if they did make something that served as a sequel to Assault, they need to go bigger in terms of the main villain. Maybe something like a dark matter entity that threatens all of existence. Gameplay-wise, maybe do something similar to Starlink: Battle for Atlas, but also include gameplay modes like that in Assault (i.e., on-foot and Landmaster).

Re: Random: Yep, Metal Gear Solid 3's Eva Was Voiced By The Little Mermaid

AstroTheGamosian

I actually got to meet her in 1996 and got a Little Mermaid book signed by her (Ariel Finds Treasure). Sadly, since I was only three years old at the time, I don't remember it.

Little fun fact, though: she personally knows my mother and aunt, since they all went to the same university together (Millikin University in Decatur, Illinois). She and my aunt were even in the drama club together!

In fact, that's how we met: she was speaking at an event, mentioned her university, and my mother shouted, "Go Big Blue!" Jodi got all excited, asked who was from Millikin, and my mother said her maiden name. Jodi asked if she was related to my aunt, to which my mother confirmed, and Jodi said that she wanted to talk to us after the event.

I'd love to meet her again, ask her if she remembers that encounter, and tell her that I am now interested in voice acting myself.

Re: Nintendo Music's Next Batch Of Tracks Will Arrive Next Week

AstroTheGamosian

@AmyTheBrawler Yeah. I'd also love a remake of Adventures that adds in the cut content (such as rescuing Krystal halfway through the game and being able to play as her, but also fighting General Scales).

But above all, I want a sequel to Assault that ignores the canonicity of Command. The reason being is because I want Fox's and Krystal's relationship to deepen further (instead of them breaking up like they did in Command, which I hated), and the game ends with them getting married.

Re: Nintendo Music's Next Batch Of Tracks Will Arrive Next Week

AstroTheGamosian

@AmyTheBrawler Oh, totally. Assault was the first Star Fox game I played, and easily my favorite. I would be so happy if Nintendo remade the game, but making certain changes to it (not making it a straight-up remaster with a fresher coat of paint).

For example, adding new levels to the campaign mode, such as the multiplayer-only maps of the Great Fox, Titania, and Zoness, but also originals like Venom (where you infiltrate the ruins of Andross's base to acquire the schematics for the computer virus weapon that they used to defeat the Aparoids), Papetoon (where we would see Fox's homeworld for the first time in a Star Fox game), Aquas, and Macbeth.

On the multiplayer side, include Leon, Panther, Pigma, Oikonny, and even General Pepper in the multiplayer mode, and have online functionality where you can play with others.

Gameplay-wise, tighten up the controls (as the on-foot and Landmaster controls could be quite touchy; one wrong move sends you tumbling off a ledge), and allow us to play as other members of the Star Fox team during the campaign mode, each with the abilities that they had in multiplayer mode.

And the app is also great. But again, since I can't have my phone on me at work, I'd love a browser version, much like how Apple Music, Spotify, and Pandora all have their own browser versions.

Re: Nintendo Music's Next Batch Of Tracks Will Arrive Next Week

AstroTheGamosian

@Mando44646 Especially Xenoblade Chronicles X. I got the Special Edition of the Wii U version so I could get the music tracks off of that USB drive that came with it, only to learn that it was DRM'ed, thus preventing me from being able to listen to it, much less import it to iTunes or Apple Music. I would love to listen to "The Key We've Lost" (which was in the gameplay trailer for the game) any time I want.

Re: Nintendo Music's Next Batch Of Tracks Will Arrive Next Week

AstroTheGamosian

I hope that, at some point in the future, we will get the soundtrack for Star Fox: Assault. I loved the music in that game, such as the music from the first half of the first level (what is titled "Space Battleground" in Super Smash Bros.), as well as the music that played when Peppy rammed the Great Fox into the energy shield on the Aparoid homeworld, seemingly sacrificing himself in the process.

What would also be nice is if Nintendo released a browser version of the app, like just Apple Music, Pandora, and Spotify. Since I'm not allowed to have my phone on me at work, there's no way for me to listen to the app. But having a browser version available for when I am on a work computer (they do allow us to use Spotify, Pandora, and Apple Music using the computers) would enable me to listen to my favorite game soundtracks.

Re: Random: Takaya Imamura Ponders The Possibility Of Star Fox Zero On 'Switch 2'

AstroTheGamosian

Frankly, I don't think it would be possible. As flawed of a gameplay mechanic as it was (to the point where one reviewer refused to assign a score to the game because they were so miserable playing it), having the third-person perspective on the TV screen while having the cockpit view on the Wii U GamePad was integral to the experience. You can't really separate that from the game by putting it on the Switch, which has only one screen. At that point, you'd be better off porting it to the 3DS. That being said, I have heard some rumors that the successor to the Switch will have a dual screen mechanic, so it could possibly be feasible then. But the Switch as it is now, I just don't see it.

Personally, if they were to bring back a previous Star Fox game, I'd rather they bring back Adventures or Assault. But make some changes to address the complaints from their original releases. For example, with Adventures, have Fox save Krystal halfway through the game, then have them work together to stop General Scales and Andross. With Assault, add more levels (especially using the multiplayer-only maps of the Great Fox, Titania, and Zoness, plus some originals like Venom, where you have to infiltrate the ruins of Andross's base to acquire the schematics for the computer virus weapon to destroy the Aparoids), and tighten up the controls.

But above all, I would love a sequel to Assault that ignores the continuity of Command, we see Star Fox combat a new threat (something even more dangerous than the Aparoids, maybe something that threatens all of existence), and we especially see Fox's and Krystal's relationship deepen further, with the two of them getting married at the end of the game.

Re: Xenoblade Chronicles X Fans Are Once Again Discussing The Game's 'Censorship'

AstroTheGamosian

@graviton In a way, it's a bit like the controversy surrounding Stellar Blade for the PS5. There were apparently changes made to some of EVE's outfits, and people were up in arms about censorship. While people blame Sony for allegedly demanding that SHIFT UP censor some of her more revealing outfits, I have heard that SHIFT UP said that those outfits, which were teased before the game's release, were always going to be changed before launch.

Of course, we'll see what the case is when the game comes out for the PC in the near future. If the more revealing versions of the outfits are in the PC version versus the PlayStation version, we'll know for certain that it was Sony who demanded that the game be censored for the PS5. If the PC version also has the less revealing outfits, then it's confirmation that it was always the plan on SHIFT UP's part for them to not be as revealing, and so it's not on Sony.

Re: So, Will You Be Listening To The New Mobile App Nintendo Music?

What would be really nice is if they made a web browser version of the app. Since I cannot have my phone on me while at work, and I can't download these soundtracks to my Apple Music library, the only way for me to listen to these soundtracks would be via a web browser version. That, or if they also released a version of the app for Apple Watch.

Re: 'Nintendo Music' Will Add More Tracks Over Time, Here's What's Been Revealed So Far

Personally, one soundtrack I would love to have come to the service is Star Fox: Assault. I love the Space Battleground theme from the first level, plus the music that played when Peppy crashed the Great Fox into the energy shield on the Aparoid's homeworld.

An official version of the Star Fox Adventures soundtrack would be nice, too. I downloaded an unofficial version that was distributed via a Star Fox fan site through the Krystal Archive back in early 2019 (since that was the game where we first got Krystal), but despite having 119 tracks, it's not a perfect rip; there are still sound effects in the main theme, which was taken from the intro cutscene, and possibly in other tracks, too. So an official soundtrack would likely have a clean rip, without the sound effects. And hopefully there would be more tracks, including unreleased ones.

And of course, official soundtracks for the Super Smash Bros. games would be most welcome. I don't know if it's still on there, but someone did upload an unofficial version of the soundtrack for Melee onto Apple Music. But again, it's not a clean rip, as the sound effects from the intro cutscene are there as well. I do, however, have the official soundtrack for SSB4, which I got via Club Nintendo, back when it was still a thing.

I should probably stop there with my wishlist, though, as this comment will become too long.

HECK YEAH, BOY!!!! Immediately downloaded the app before I even finished the article!

But since I can't have my phone on me while working, what would be nice if they could integrate this with other music streaming platforms like Spotify, Pandora, and Apple Music, which I can use via a computer, or have a web browser version of the app. I would love to listen to these soundtracks while on the clock!

@ikki5 Even if the product is sold for a premium price, if the materials used in its manufacture are cheap, you'll end up with a poor-quality product. This is true for everything, not just frying pans. But that's how businesses expand their profit margins, especially in recent years: manufacture goods with cheap materials but don't drop the price (in some cases, the price even goes up). Easy money.

Re: Xenoblade Chronicles X: Definitive Edition Confirmed For Switch

I'll admit, as much as I loved Xenoblade Chronicles X on the Wii U, I never did beat it. I have been hoping for it to be ported to the Switch for years now. But if it's coming out next year, possibly around the time that the successor to the Switch launches (launch title, maybe?), I may hold off until any announcement as to whether or not it will be coming to the successor.

I just wonder if certain features that were in the Japanese version but were taken out of the North American version during localization will be restored for this Definitive Version.
